    Strawberry Matcha
    Alyssa A.

I always love finding a great new matcha place, so I was so excited to try them on a day trip to Santa Barbara. Matcha is everywhere, but there's a big difference between match and GOOD matcha. And their matcha is GOOD matcha. Really enjoyed their strawberry matcha. It was my first time getting matcha where it was actually in the foam, and while I stirred it a bit to get the strawberry mixed in, having the matcha foam really escalated the flavor of the drink. Husband tried one of their brownies and LOVED it. Not too much seating, but the bar seating was perfect for us. Will definitely have to stop by for another matcha next time we're at the Public Market.

Wasn't sure what to eat at the Public Market, and decided to get some Korean food :-) and wow, what a great surprise! The chicken sandwich was great, and they give you a generous amount of seasoned fries. The pesto noodles came with lots of mushroom and I added the pork belly bites. It was a little bit greasy towards the end, and a little bland if you don't add the gojujang. But it was great with gojujang, definitely get a bottle of gojujang when you pick up your food. The price of the food is very reasonable. And when I saw the matcha brownie, I just had to get it! It was $7 (a little pricey) but it was a nice treat. It was very matcha-y. I would come back! Didn't check out their drinks menu, maybe next time!

This place was definitely a gem. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had, but I really enjoyed the meal overall. The portions were generous, and I loved how cheesy everything was. The food was satisfying, flavorful, and definitely worth trying if you're in the area.

Korean fast food at the Santa Barbara Public Market. Food was delicious! Luckily, we found a table for 4 right after we ordered our food as the place was busy busy.

We were so thirsty after being stuck in traffic on the way back from L.A. So glad we found this place. It's located into a public market with other vendors. We ordered 4 different drinks. All tasted good. Even our Asian parents who don't drink cold drinks approved. Definitely will swing by again when we're in the area to try other items on the menu.

In the Santa Barbara area and looking for great matcha... I highly recommend Seoulmate Kitchen -as their Strawberry Cream Matcha (see my pic) was creamy, perfect sweetness and very memorable for me. Had the Matcha blonde brownie and it had a subtle matcha flavor, good density and satisfied my sweet craving. For lunch, I tried the Seoul Fire Wings (had a sweet and spicy gochujang-based sauce) and it was crispy, overall very satisfying. A tad oily and messy, but I didn't mind it. Served with rice and banchan (side dishes -kimchee, pickled cucumbers). Line was long to order drinks at the touch screen (see my pic). Had to order food/lunch at the register (different line). Service was speedy and direct. Drinks were definitely worth the wait and price. Inside seating, very casual interior here and located within the Public Market.

Came here because Lily's Donuts' Americano was too light for me, and seol mate was open. There was a super long line at the kiosk because people couldn't make up their mind, so I ended up going to the other line and just ordering in person. The Americano here tastes like a traditional Americano. It was perfect for me and hit the right spot. The food here smelled really good...mental note... one day I'm going to have to come back for breakfast. They do offer free dog treats! Always a plus

    Chicken Seoul Fire Wings
    Celine P.

On a crowded Friday night, the line stretched pretty far but we were excited regardless. Heard lots of good things and their Instagram is full of silly content. I ordered the wings because I am from LA and a sucker for Korean fried chicken. However, everything about this was quite disappointing. I learned how the owners had to change the recipe to curate to the demographics of this area. Even the kimchi and pickled cucumbers tasted watered down and flavorless. Simply wet. I was imagining some mouth puckering sour and spicy. The rice to chicken ratio was off. I like to chase my spicy chicken with rice but the chicken wasn't even spicy. The menu items have potential and I hope to come back again.

    Bulgogi Wrap

The bulgogi grilled cheese was so good! The fries were stale and the pork bibimbap bowl was cold and hard. It was quaint and empty but the cashier was friendly.

Second time visiting Seoulmate Kitchen! This time we ordered a different kind of matcha (Sesame Dal Latte) and food (Dolsot Bibimbap). Seoulmate Kitchen never fails their matcha specials! I absolutely loved the sesame dal latte. Their food however, was a bit bland. I had to add quite a bit of gochujang sauce, salt, and pepper to add some umami but it still wasn't enough. The portion, however, was massive! Service was also really good. We kept asking for more banchan and they happily served us some more :)

    Dolsot Bibimbap
    Kathryn T.

We came here hoping to satisfy our need for Asian food in SB but it's on us for having LA level expectations. We ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap mostly because we wanted banchan but the kimchi did not taste as fermented as it should be. The bibimbap itself was lacking flavor and pretty wet? It wasn't terrible though. It was OK. The ingredients tasted fresh at least!

    Bento box with Pork Belly
    Derrick D.

Originally wanted to go to Secret Bao but couldn't get a reservation so came here. 2/5 - Bento box with pork belly. This was surprisingly bland. There was no flavor in the cooked pork belly and the assembled veggies also lacked flavor. The accompanying kimchi and cucumber was okay. Overall not that happy with this lunch choice.

    Blueberry Matcha Cloud
    Erica J.

Didn't try the food but I really only came here because I heard how good the matcha was. I got the blueberry matcha cloud and it did not disappoint! I will be back to try other drinks!

For cocktails I'm always down with O.P.P. a prickly pear hibiscus cocktail that hits every time. My latest visit brought me in for the Chef's Table Crawfish boil. This took stage on the rooftop of the Canary Hotel. Chef John Vasquez and team really outdid themselves by making this a memorable experience! We sat communal style and they rolled out the Louisiana style crawfish on the table. They were a beautiful reddish orange color and tasted just like the sea. It also came with potatoes, corn, artichoke, sausage and clarified butter for dipping. I do wish it was a little more seasoned, but I don't know if that's possible with the shell on. Nonetheless it still was delicious! Paired with some brews from Validation Ale and it was the perfect combination. The views, staff, vibes and people is what made the evening a memorable experience. Overall, a great restaurant to check out at the Canary Hotel.

They add a 3% surcharge if you use a credit card. There is a window for to-go orders, but if you're dining in, you place your order with the gal at the podium. I have to say, although there were two staff working on drinks, my latte took a while. Luckily, it came before the food. There was a staff member waiting at the counter and delivering just drinks. Once I got my latte, it tasted good. Strong. I felt the caffeine. The avocado toast was good, too. It was served in a shallow metal dish. Thick, high quality, Artisan bread. I enjoyed the toasted pumpkin seeds. I would definitely order it again, but open to ordering something else on the menu next time. Staff are friendly, welcoming, and efficient. There was another gentleman standing in the back, immediately clearing tables. It's better if you come earlier on the weekends. There was a line of people when I was leaving. There's plenty of free street parking. I parked across the street.

There was only one person in line and 4 staff members behind the counter standing around talking to each other. Nobody greeted us or asked for our bakery order. When the cashier finished with their customer they walked away and even though they saw we were waiting to be helped. I looked around and saw nobody helping seated customers or us at the bakery counter. Finally, the dirty blonde ask what we need and my response was "WHAT" ?! At this point we should have left and gone to Lilac Patisserie however we proceeded to give her our order. I told another customer behind us that rudeness seems to be the norm, and she agreed. I paid for our bakery items and asked an older woman scrolling on her phone if we could have a bag for all of our boxed treats. She grabbed a handful of bags and threw them at me from across the counter. We were appalled and left. We found a place to sit on State street to eat our treats and my daughter said she didn't want her Meringue because the dirty blonde girl used the back of her ungloved hand to repeatedly wipe her nose. We threw all $50 worth of baked goods in the trash. Yes, I should have gone back and complained I'm had everything refunded but it was Mother's Day and we didn't want anything more to do with this establishment. It was also an epiphany that they don't treat everyone this way. It could be you next time. Please go somewhere else.
