Eggplant pizza, half gone before I got to it!
    Scott K.

I've been going to Sergios since they opened more than 15 years ago. Their pizza is delicious. Their regular menu items are delicious. The cookies. Well, the cookies are made by a local baker and are hard to come by because they sell out so quickly. I haven't been able to get kitchen sink cookies for, well, I can't remember the last time it's been so long. So, aside from that disappointment, and that they only had 3 packages of oatmeal raisin cookies today (I always buy chocolate chip), the food just doesn't disappoint. The dining room is closed until Summer but that shouldn't stop you from going in to see all the other wonderful desserts they have when you pick up your food/pizza!

Have been back twice since first review. I'm glad that this business survived the pandemic and rash reviews written during it like my last one. The owner reached out to make it right, I declined. I made it back twice on my own since. The last time we ate in and it was fantastic! Steak sandwich, fries, eggplant pizza, and pasta and meatballs. The pizza was especially tasty, the crust crisp, the sauce tangy, good quality cheese. All food was quite good and the prices quite fair. A combination that's very hard to find these days. Will definitely be back with my family. I really like that you pay after ordering and get your own plates and utensils. This model speeds up service. Everyone was pleasant and courteous, even though it was very busy.

We were on an ice cream quest on a Friday night, so naturally, we had to add pizza into the mix. Went into Sergio's without looking up any reviews on Yelp (normally a dangerous move). Although they weren't technically serving anyone, their tables were available to sit at, so we ordered mozz sticks (phenomenal cheese inside) and a large half bacon/half meatball. The mozz sticks came out very quickly and then the pizza came out. We stared at it like a groom doing a first look at the bride . The crust was perfectly cooked and the toppings were plentiful. Add Foxon Park, homemade cookies and friendly staff into the equation and you get return customers! Also, Wentworth's Ice Cream is about a 25 second drive away

    All decorated for Christmas!

Great food and very clean. Love the family environment. Don't see it on the menu, just ask.then top it off with a homemade dessert.

"Desmond has a barrow in the marketplace Molly is the singer…read morein a band Desmond says to Molly, "Girl, I like your face" And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand" (Lennon and McCartney) Man oh man do we love our Italian markets and delis. And we sure found a good one in Hamden on Friday. We saw refrigerated cases full of pastas and raviolis, counters with trays of pizzas, showcases with trays of prepared foods like sausage and oeooers, eggplant rollatinis, and seafood marinara, a sandwich counter for cold cuts, and a baked goods counter. We narrowed our want list down to three very different items. We bought two slices of their sausage pizza, two garlic knots, and three eggplant rollatinis. The pizza was fantastic! Super thin crust, plenty (and I mean PLENTY) of cheese, a very good sauce and delicious sausage chunks. Oh, and the slices were enormous. We made a dinner out of the eggplant and garlic knots. The eggplant was sliced so thin, and was so soft and tender, it resembled lasagna noodles! The rollatinis were loaded with ricotta cheese and marinara sauce and it was a fantastic dish. We split the three rolls and let me tell ya, one and a half rolls were plenty for dinner. The garlic knots were ridiculously loaded with garlic, not teeny tiny shavings, but big hunks of garlic cloves. Needless to say, they were fantastic as well. Our total cost was $24.66, and Sapori threw in four complimentary slices of fresh Italian bread with our order. We really loved Sapori a lot.

We had the ricotta and honey on toast, meatballs, prosciutto/mozzarella to start, some white wine and of course PIZZA! The pizza was light and cooked perfectly. We had the Dolce Salato and the Diavolina. We loved the Dolce Salato! The Diavolina was good, but I think some more spicy salami or maybe an additional spicy component would have been a good addition to the pizza. It needed just a little bit more on the flavor side. But still everything here is high quality and I would recommend! Service was excellent. We were immediately seated and had the option to sit inside or outside. I first sat inside, then we moved to a larger table outside. What I really appreciated as a new mom, was their openness and flexibility for coming in with a stroller. I was nervous to be a burden to the restaurant, but they were super accommodating. Thank you On room for improvement, I think on a hot day, having the inside space being much much cooler, than the outdoor seating (especially for newborns/really young kids/elderly) would be beneficial. Yesterday it was cool inside to start (and remember I chose to move outside), but they started to leave the front door open to allow for easy movement of staff and guests between inside and outside, which made the indoor space get warmer over time. And I totally get that for the ease of movement for staff/guests, but maybe consider keeping it super cool on the inside, so that kiddos/elderly have a cool space on a really hot day to not overheat. The vibe here is great. Chill, warm and light! Come with family and/or friends and enjoy!

Modern Apizza is absolutely worth trying if you're arriving at the right time because this place gets swamped! Thankfully the line moves quick and people are in and out constantly. The inside of the establishment screams history and is definitely an important places to visit for a blast into the past with great eats. I would definitely like to say that the custom pies are good, but the traditional cheese and Margarita pies are what I would return for time and time again. Exquisite char and cook on the traditional; fantastic flavor and depth in the margarita. Both phenomenal pies worthy of driving 2 hours for. The area sucks and parking is limited, but if you can get past that, the history, style and food is worth indulging in while you're in New Haven. The servers are professionals and make sure to cater to every whim. Definitely a classy pizza spot. VISIT THE TRI-FECTA and make sure to sample Sally's and Frank Pepe's. New Haven is the map because of its rich Italian and food history and the pizza places that bring in millions of people a year are worth trying and keeping alive.

There's about 8 booths- It's a bit on the small side but the food was fantastic. Hubby and I were born and raised in NYC. It's been so long we've had really good pizza. John and Steve brought out pie after pie. We had the plain, plain with grated cheese, tomato with fresh mozzarella, clam with bacon, mangia special, Stevie Gs apple pizza, mashed potato pizza. We brought in our homemade suppi and they put it on some of our pies. We also tried the eggplant Parmesan and garlic knots. The plain pies, mashed potato, and the mangia special were my favorites but really everything there was top notch. There is nothing that I wouldn't order again. The crust is nice and crunchy. Good char on it. Sauce was delicious - not sour like straight from a can. Toppings were better than I expected for a small pizza spot. Sausage was tasty. Mushrooms were fresh not tinned, fresh tomatoes and basil. Tons of clams on the pizza. Bacon was thick sliced and left almost whole. Eggplant was sliced thin. Generous with the toppings. Even better than their pizza- is their service. It was my first time meeting them and I felt like an old friend. They were so friendly, chatted with us, told us stories -- we really had a good time. The older gentleman who brought out the food and took away the empty trays was very thorough- checked in on us regularly. Mangia Apizza is easy to miss - connected to Vick's Cafe (really it's a bar). Stop in and grab a pizza. You won't be sorry. And if you want someone to talk your ears off - stop in and eat at a booth. I wish they were closer!!

This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot. Excellent pizza. Super friendly staff

One 6 Three is an unusual name - it's a small and cozy spot with few tables and bar seating, set in a residential neighborhood. We tried the gluten free crust (available only in 12") American margherita pie and added mushrooms in half of it. The wood fired crust was well done, I really liked it. Lots of garlic, yum. However, the tomatoes on it were raw and that didn't feel very good. Also, there were no condiments offered on the side- like oregano- is that normal in a pizza place?
