We were a bit confused about the setup here as we'd ordered from Dahlia Bakery and found a table to sit at while we waited for our order. When we looked around, we saw that the table that we were sitting at was actually for another restaurant - Serious Pie. So we felt the need to order something from here since we had by that time had a table full of food from Dahlia's. As it turns out, Serious Pie was on my list of places to try in Seattle. So this was actually perfect. We got a sweet fennel sausage pizza but a few of the others sounded very good too and interesting such as the clam and pancetta pizza and the potato and rosemary one. Wow we came in hungry and we had never been to Seattle. We stayed down the street and we were looking for something for dinner and unique. We found it here at Serious Pie Downtown.we were just in time to take advantage of their happy hour specials. We tried 3 types of pizza and a salad and a great bowl of tomato soup!!! It's went seriously downhill is the long and short of it. We have been coming since it was in the old spot. Felt more quaint and special in there, it's like it doesn't have a soul anymore. I have to give Serious Pie some major kudos. In this area of downtown I don't know if it was because it was a Sunday and lots of places were closed or had shortened hours in the general vicinity but after 7 pm rolls around on a Sunday it takes what feels like a lot of hoop jumping to find a restaurant that's open. I was going to a concert that started at 8 pm which was at the Moore Theater and it wound up being super close. I do lots a things solo if I can't catch Steve's interest with a particular activity and felt fortunate I was a party of one because I got seated very quickly. I was hungry and wanted supper before the show and found a pizza on the menu very fast. The pizzas don't really have a name but a list of the ingredients and toppings are how you select your pizza. I got the Ferndale Farms Mozzarella, Tomato Sauce and Fresh Basil pizza which was a pizza just a little over an individual size pizza but was just right for me. Ingredients were fresh and the pizza was very good as well as the service. Absolutely no complaints. Also major kudos even though it's the norm to have restrooms. Finding ones with ease in Seattle or in the state in general can be like finding a needle in a haystack. Though you really need to be a paying customer in order to access this feature. read more

Happy hour review - Happy hour here gives amazing deals, but unfortunately it takes place Monday - Friday 3-5pm, aka when I am still working in the office. Fortunately, with Presidents' Day aka day off work, this was the perfect time for me to check out! Happy hour features $7 for half pizza, which if you get 2 half pizzas aka a full order, that is just $14 compared to a full sized pizza at regular price that is often in the $20-22 range. I got 2 half pizzas and it was more than enough for a meal for me. I got the sweet fennel sausage and the penn cove clams. The pizza here is more flatbread-like, rectangular in shape, and the crust is more crunchy. The topping to crust ratio is on point, a little bit more crust though. The sweet fennel sausage one is a little overrated; the sauce makes some parts of the pizza a bit mushy, and it feels more like a combo pizza you get elsewhere with slightly more premium ingredients. The penn cove clams with pancetta was better for me, though the overall combination of ingredients make this an interesting experience (in a good way). At regular, non-happy hour, I would give this a 4 stars, but the pricing of the happy hour just is too good. Add to that, service was very attentive and this was one of my better dining experiences so far recently. read more

I'm a fan of roasted peppers and I thought they put the perfect amount of toppings. I tried the potato pizza as I was curious how it would taste. I ordered take out around 4:45pm and was notified that the pizza wouldn't be ready for pick up until 6pm. At 6pm I overheard the wait for dining in was an hour to 1.5 hours. Sweet sausage pie: sausage is pretty good - tender and sweet. I wish they put more on it since it was pretty sparse. Potato pie: haven't had something like this since california pizza kitchen had it. Most of the slices of potato were soft while some were partially cooked. Nice hints of rosemary. Overall a good spot. The dough/crust is wood fired, soft yet crunchy. As the name says...this place does indeed serve some serious pie! In addition, they also have a decent spirits/cocktails list to go with your pizza(s) of choice. As a bonus, to serve you those delicious spirits is a really fun, outgoing and knowledgeable bartender. My group asked for the bartender's recommendations for the pizza and we decided to get all 3 of her choices: the Sweet Fennel Sausage, Penn Cove Clam, and the Mushroom and Truffle Pizza. All REALLY tasty pizzas! The crust were all cooked to perfection (crispy outside and an airy inside) and the unique flavors of each pie really takes your taste buds to a journey on its own. The Sweet Fennel Sausage was my favorite with its more traditional flavor of sauce and cheese but that hint if sweet Fennel Sausage really satisfied my palette. The Penn Cove Clam was a first of its kind for me but it was also really good. The abundance of parmesan cheese and the clams paired well. And of course the truffle and mushroom I can see being a crowd favorite as well. I mean there's truffle...enough said. Since we didn't want to travel the distance to get some Chicago deep dish pizza, we went to Serious Pie instead. Based on the reviews we had some high expectations. We ordered the sweet fennel sausage, which appears to be one of their more popular pizzas, and the cheese with half pepperoni. I had a beer and my wife ordered the white sangria. The pizza was just ok. I expected more flavor and maybe a little more meat out of the fennel pizza. The sauce was fairly bland, and the cheese, again, just meh. On the positive side my 13 year old enjoyed her cheese pizza and the $7 cream soda. The lager draft I ordered was pretty good, however, the white sangria my wife ordered was dry and tasted more like a cheap white wine than anything else. For a $12 drink it was a big disappointment which resulted in her leaving her drink alone and me drinking it so at least I felt I got my moneys worth. On the positive side again, the staff, from the hostess to our waitress, were very friendly and attentive. I appreciated them being helpful and doing their job with a smile. We really wanted to like this place, considering it was on Infatuation, however, tonight it just missed the mark for us. read more

I'm a huge Tom Douglas fan and Serious Pie is one of my favorite pizza spots. I have loved Serious Pie for several years and recommend it to all of my friends. Over the years, they've increased prices a bit but that's to be expected, especially after the pandemic. I recently made a trip and it was still as good as the first time over 8 years ago. You cannot go wrong with any pizza on the menu. There is something about their crust that has a hint of sweetness to it, is crispy and airy. I've never had another pizza quite like them. It's unfair to compare them with a Chicago deep-dish or NY-style because they're very different. One pizza is plenty for one person. I always like to share a few options with the table so everyone gets to try different pizzas. They also do happy hour with half-sized pizzas, which is fantastic for small parties who want to try more pizzas. My favorite is the mushroom and truffle cheese. The clam pizza is so unique and every time I'm surprised by how much I love it. The potato pizza is also interesting and in my experience, people either love it or hate it. We tried the special they had a few weeks ago, which had calabrian chile cream sauce, pancetta, and goat cheese. It was delicious. I did like the pizza pie they made me here, but I loved the Kale Salad even better! I had the sweet fennel sausage, roasted peppers, and provolone pizza, and the Marinated Lacinato Kale, Parmesan, Calabrian chilies, and pine nuts for dinner. The salad was outstanding. The Lacinato kale tasty and offered an easy eating texture. The light marinade allowed the Parmesan cheese to adhere to the kale which made every bite that much more wonderful. Adding "roasted" pine nuts is good almost any salad, and they certainly excelled here. They nutty, slightly oily, had a good bite, and picked up extra flavor from the roasting. The sweet fennel sausage was vert good. The fennel sausage shined here and definitely was the star of the pizza with its porky goodness, subtle sweetness, and great fennel flavor. I did feel that the pizza needed more cheese but also more time in the wood oven to melt down properly and bubble up a bit.
