We stopped in here while vacationing in the area. Ribs were fall off the bone tender. Brisket seemed a bit fatty but was tender and my husband said it was really good and he loved the cheezy potatoes. You stand at the counter to order everything is sold 'ala carte' so by the time you buy the meat and whichever sides you want it gets rather expensive for what you get. This does seem to be the norm at many BBQ places now but not my favorite. read more

Seriously average BBQ, and having lived in Texas, (born and raised there), I know excellent BBQ, and this is not it. I had the pulled pork sandwich with cherry-chipotle sauce and while it hit the spot, (I was starving), it was just ok. Sweet tea was definitely on the sweet side, but I like it like that. The name says it all- Serious! I ordered a brisket sandwich and the cheesy potatoes. The brisket sandwich had to be at least a half pound of meat. It was bigger than any burger I have ever eaten. The potatoes were nice and cheesy, with some nice spice. Barbecue sauce on the table was in a bottle as big as a tequila jug-- because that's what it was. The brisket was tender and I even got some burnt ends in my sandwich. A nice touch. Be sure and get yours with the pickles and onions. This place just happened to be walking distance from our hotel on a rainy night during a motorcycle trip. The line moved very fast, you get served what you order immediately at the counter. Find a seat and enjoy some great bbq. We had a range of ribs to pork sandwich and tacos. Every bit was awesome. One guy got back in line and got some apple cobbler which was great as well. This used to be my favorite restaurant and it still is for brisket but I have been disappointed a second time on the ribs. I should have paid attention to what they were cutting when I ordered 4 bones to go. When I got home I realized they gave me the small end of the rack and only gave me 4 very small and dried out bones. At $2 a bone I expect to get large ones. A Pueblo friend and I visited Durango on 12.17.22 to catch the Cascade train the following morning on the historic, narrow-gauge railroad. The service at the counter where we placed our to-go order was "lackluster," or "just rude," my friend said to me. I ordered brisket, and she pork ribs. The ribs were good. I come from Austin, Tx. I'm on vacation in Durango, Co. I spot this place, and I think to myself. "Serious Texas BBQ, Really? I have to experience this for myself." Now, Central Texas is Home to Franklins BBQ, Salt Lick BBQ, Rudy's, County Line BBQ, Elgin BBQ, and I have had them all... I was hoping that these guys were serious. I walk in. Texas license plates, check. UT Longhorns football, check. Advertising for Elgin Hot Sausage?! Niiice. Now, I wasn't that hungry but I had to try a staple. I ordered a sweet tea, which they lovingly called serious sweet tea. And I order a sausage wrap. Now, just my opinion, but a true Texas sausage wrap comes with 4 ingredients. Warm soft tortilla, sausage, jalapeños and cheese, with some mustard added on. When I open my sausage wrap I regretfully see that they have sliced the sausage. Sliced!? Nooooo! When you slice the sausage you loose the epic snap that comes along with it, it's just not Texas. 2 where are my jalapeño slices? 3 they don't carry Mustard? They have this stuff called Orange Jalapeño Mustard, which tastes like jalapeño flavored honey mustard, very no Texas. I rate this place an F, for fraud. Just because you carry sausages made in Texas, doesn't mean your serious. Texas is about great robust flavors and Mastery of the Basics. Orange jalapeño mustard? How dare you call yourself serious. I'm not familiar with the nuances and traditions between Texan vs. southern BBQ, and I shouldn't've expected much from a chain restaurant. I had the turkey BBQ sandwich and while the portion was VERY generous, the BBQ sauces were less-than-awesome (I actually prefer some to be found in grocery stores...) I wish (I guess this is a southern BBQ item) there's also been more sides to include items like cornbread. I also ordered the lemon pie slice, which was $3.50 itself and definitely also, a let-down. Suggestion to management: have a sign outside showing updated meat availability. Line workers can slide a red line / X over the type of meat that is sold out on a sign outside as customers wait. Went to this fun spot. It felt like a real roadhouse and full of Texas novelties. The bbq was good but wait there is a firepit, there is a drive up, and a putt putt course. Yep fun. As a born and raised Texan living in Colorado, I know good Texas BBQ is rare to come by anywhere else. So, I was excited to try this place. Definitely not bad, definitely not great. Brisket was cooked too hot for too short. Quite tough and dry although it did have good flavor. Sausage was good, but dry as well. So: are you vacationing from Texas? If yes, skip it. You'll have something better in your hometown. If no, or if you are homesick for Texas BBQ, then this is definitely not bad BBQ. But it also isn't going to blow your mind. Friendly staff, and prices are great. It's not Franklin BBQ or the Salt Lick, but when I'm craving BBQ I could see myself coming back. read more

We were traveling & tried to visit during the summer 2020 but, due to covid it was closed. However, we were visiting this winter & we had to stop in. We were so glad we did! The staff was very attentive, friendly & made our food to order. We had a group of seven & there was not one complaint. Everything was delicious! My husband is very hard to please when it comes to BBQ since he smokes meats at home on a regular basis. He enjoyed it so much he wanted to go back again. The food was very reasonably priced, especially for the large portions we received. One of the favorites was the loaded potatoes. My daughter had Turkey with Mac & Cheese, my wife had brisket with potato salad and pinto beans and I had pulled pork nachos with a side of cheesy potatoes. The brisket wasn't the best we had ever eaten but it was up there towards the top. My pulled pork nachos were the best I ever had. The way their jalapeños are puréed and the flavor of different cheeses and the pulled pork was phenomenal. I was underwhelmed. The brisket and pulled pork were okay but far from the best I've ever had. In fact, the spicy pinto beans were my favorite item during dinner last night. I liked the vibe of the place and team was friendly though things seemed to move pretty slowly. I was happy to be able to use Apple Pay at checkout though. Kudos for that. I eat a lot of BBQ all over the US and always try the brisket. I also know BBQ can be highly variable, especially brisket so maybe I got them on an off day.
