Seriously NOT BBQ. Really? What a bland disappointment. Pretty run of the mill. Even the chain Famous Dave's is better than this place.

Texas BBQ, in Colorado? Yup. The brisket and ribs were delicious. The tater was awesome. Local soda and beer? Wow. We'll be back.

I thought they had a good BBQ sandwich. They give you quite a bit of BBQ and it tasted great.

Though the food is indeed barbecue, it's far from serious. They do, however, correctly refrain from adding sugar to their tea.

Us Texas folks had to try this place out this evening. Had to stand in a long line to order we had a pulled pork, brisket sandwich, beans, coleslaw, potato salad. The sandwiches was great, just wish they toasted the buns, potato salad good, we didn't care for the coleslaw it's just really dry, the ranch style beans was the least that we liked one bite and throw them away, we thought they was going to be pinto beans. Sweet tea was great. My husband ordered Mac and cheese but they was out. Would definitely go back. The baked potato with pulled pork looked great. read more

Really great BBQ place a few miles outside of town. It actually was just a few hundred yards away from our hotel. Loved the ribs, they had a nice bark and great smoke ring. No sauce needed. The side of beans was tasty with a little kick and pork pieces in it. Skip the cole slaw. The loaded potatoe with pulled pork, queso and sour cream was a winner for sure. read more

My wife and I pulled in to Serious Tx Bar-B-Q to eat dinner. The sliced beef sandwich and Nachos were pretty good. I would suggest cutting the fat a bit better on the beef. It makes a difference for repeat customers. I thought the establishment was well run from what I could see. Being a Texan all of my life and knowing good barbecue I have one constructive criticism I hope the owner will hear and take note. The BBQ sauce was water that along tells you right there it is not a sauce. It runs off you meat and does not stay on the meat. It makes you bun soggy which is not attractive to anyone as well. It was just disappointment. All Good Texas Barbecue institutions that I have been to have good sauce. If they want to be Serious they need to upgrade their sauce. Just trying to help a business owner. I hope it is taken that way. read more

My husband ate here about 4 times in a week. He couldn't get enough of the tacos with brisket. We've traveled a lot and their brisket is definitely up there with the briskets actually in Texas. Loved the sauce too. I wasn't thrilled with the sides, but they weren't bad. But, didn't matter because the brisket makes up for it all. read more

Being from Texas I was a bit skeptical but it was actually pretty good. The sausage was really good, the brisket was ok and so were the ribs. I didn't have anything with sauce because I wanted to taste the meat. The pulled pork nachos were outstanding. The beers were cold and the folks were friendly. I'll be back when we return to Durango. read more

I love Texas BBQ. I've had some of the best bbq in the world. This unfortunately is nothing close to Texas BBQ. While in town on work I thought, why not, let's give it a try. Food is a 5/10. Service 6/10 Over all a 3/5 This place looks empty and deserted first impression. The negative about this place is there's a small menu. There wasn't much I liked. I'm from Texas and this is pretty good bbq. It is very tender with a good smoke flavor. I'm farticular to mesquite, but this was good too. it was worth the stop. The sides were good as well. I have been here at a previous trip and would do it again. read more

Quick look rating: 4/5 Food & Quality, 4/5 Service, 5/5 Experience I would rate them a 4.5, pretty good place! Stopped here and in awe of the great looking flowers out front and around the porch. They had great looking hanging baskets full of flowers in bloom. Thinking that they took the time and energy on the flowers they just might have some really good BBQ as well! For my selections, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, beans, cole slaw, potato salad, and hot links! The ribs were very tasty with a very nice smoke ring in the coloring, so did the brisket. But the brisket was just a touch dry. The potato salad was top notch, having the right amount of mustard. I thought the links could have been a touch hotter, maybe I was given regular links. I would also recommend the pulled pork, next time, I'll do a pulled pork sandwich! Now the eating out on the porch is really pretty cool with all of the great looking flower baskets. The place does need to have it's staff picking up the trays just a little faster, but other than that, it's really a pretty good place to get your BBQ fix! The place is not a Texas BBQ place, but they are getting closer! Next time I'm in the area fly fishing I'll check them out again! read more

Good barbecue, excellent location. I recommend the outside balcony in warm weather, since it overlooks the Animas. Big dining area, friendly staff and good food! I always get the pulled pork sandwich with the cherry chipotle sauce. Huge, enough for two meals. The cheesy potatoes are good, too. Husband always gets banana pudding, so it must be good (he's a man of few words). And, if I'm feeling festive, I get their $5 blue frozen margarita. Ole! Not high dining, but it fits the bill when you're hungry for some relatively fast food that's a cut or two above the chains. read more

The smoked turkey is amazing-a must try. We had been eating on the road and wanted something light with it, and surprisingly for a BBQ place, their salad was great! Very fresh mixed greens and veggies was great with the turkey and their tangy sauce. Would come back anytime! Also they have a beautiful back porch to eat outside right on the river. We came in based on a recommendation from a local. The place did not disappoint! We are BBQ snobs as we often smoke a brisket or pork shoulder and so we have high standards. The brisket here was flavorful and moist and the pulled pork was perfection!!! I would strongly suggest this place and we will be stopping by any time we are in town. I did the custom taco with the cheesy potatoes and coleslaw which was fantastic! The loaded potato was listed as a staff favorite and we can see why! The potato itself is so much food, but they pile on a mountain of pulled pork to put it over the top! My husband got the open faced brisket sandwich which he loved eating every last crumb! My teenage boys both said that the portions were GIANT and struggled to finish all of their food (they are typically bottomless pits). Not only was the food great the service was amazing as well. The gentleman taking our order was hilarious and joked around with us and honestly made the experience that much better! Great place and great service like I said we will be back! read more

When I first heard about this place I thought it was going to be just an average local chain. So glad it wasnt! We pulled up and saw a line out the door, this is a good sign! It moved quick too. You order and then seat yourself inside or on their huge outdoor deck. We opted for outside. I got the pulled pork sandwich with with cherry sauce. It was delicious! The perfect balance of sweet and savory. The cherry sauce was sweet but not overpowering with cherry chunks in it. The pork was dry and smokey, tons of flavor. Splashed with a bit of the house bbq sauce and you have a little bite of heaven. I also got the cheesey potatoes (skip, amorphous blob, not a lot of flavor, wish I'd saved the $ and the calories) and the beans (nothing mindblowing, cooked and served in a broth, could have been softer and a little more robust). Drinks are serve yourself inside with the mini pickle and onion bar. Prices were very good, ambiance fun and really cool. Staff was super friendly however there were 3 at the counter and only 1 was really serving customers. With a line out the door it's all about efficiency so that could have been better. read more

Recently in the area from Phoenix and stopped here for some BBQ. The patio is very welcoming and it was busy and I was excited to try this place out. The staff was nice and had our meal ready while we ordered, that was great. My sausage was tasty and spicy, as expected. My pulled pork was a bit dry and so I reached over for the giant bottles of bbq sauce... ahh, what a major disappointment. Where I eat regular BBQ, (Joe's Real BBQ in Gilbert AZ), their sauce is made from scratch and isn't watered down, it's thick, it's dark, it's so flavorful and complex.. not this stuff... this place had the most disappointing bbq sauce, worse than mass produced grocery store stuff. It stuck with me so bad.. it was like a major eye sore: bland, watered-down, not even colorful... i just couldn't get over it. read more

The pulled pork didn't need a thing. No sauce, no extra seasoning, nothing. It was, by all reasonable metrics, the perfect pulled pork. Between that, the tender and flavorful brisket, and the fantastic smoked sausage, this place easily gets the fifth star. Compared to the BBQ joints in heavyweight BBQ destinations like St. Louis and Kansas City, this place in Durango holds its own well. They should be proud of the work they do. read more

Service great and fast! Pulled pork was delicious, nachos unusual and good but ribs were dry and tough which was disappointed.

We ordered the meat sampler and it was delicious. However, the 2 sausage links and the bread were missing. We called ahead for pick up then drove 30min to our destination. So it was too far to turn around and go back for the missing items. A word to the wise, just double check your order. Other than that, it would have been a 5 star review. Definitely save room for the peach cobbler. read more

I was not expecting this place to be this great. To be honest I got barbecue on a whim, I wasn't "exactly" in the mood. But I got my freaking socks blown off. I got my order to go but the person at the window was pretty nice and sociable. I thought they forgot something on my order and they replaced it no questions asked, very customer centered. Let's talk about what's important though, the brisket is goshdarn amazing. The best brisket I've had, literally made me fall back in love with brisket. I also got a loaded bake potato with pulled pork I believe, and it was A1. My appetite isn't usually that huge but I ate the whole thing and also ate ribs, which were also great. Stopped here for lunch on a motorcycle trip, on the way up the million dollar highway. Quick service, good parking, and a great seating area all complement some really outstanding barbecue. High points were the pulled pork, and the turkey. Smoked sausage was very good, and the ribs were outstanding. Only low point was the brisket. At lunch time, it was dry. One highlight on the side dish menu is the coleslaw. It is wonderfully spicy. The potato salad was also very good. Well worth a stop on your way through town. read more

Honestly one of my favorite BBQ restaurants. They have really good sweet tea, which is uncommon for Colorado. So being from Oklahoma I really liked the southern sweet tea here. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it had great cherry glaze on it. I also got a side of chipotle mayo just to try, and it was great. read more

We stopped in here while vacationing in the area. Ribs were fall off the bone tender. Brisket seemed a bit fatty but was tender and my husband said it was really good and he loved the cheezy potatoes. You stand at the counter to order everything is sold 'ala carte' so by the time you buy the meat and whichever sides you want it gets rather expensive for what you get. This does seem to be the norm at many BBQ places now but not my favorite. read more
