We had just got married and were looking for a place to move into. We had family who already lived here at the Serrano Apartment homes and we really enjoyed the area. It always felt safe and they always had nice things to say about it. We got to enjoy the facilities (pool, jacuzzi, and grill) and were highly impressed. There's this spanish/italian kinda feel to it all. So decided this was our place. What I wouldn't have known, but found out after moving in was how AWESOME the staff is. One afternoon about 4:45 pm my car had a dead battery and I called over to the main office and Miguel was nice enough to go find a portable charger and stayed after 5pm to help me get my vehicle running again. He never seemed frustrated or annoyed, but rather happy to help. I have never had a bad experience with the front office and have had no issues with the apartment home. We are happy to be here and thankful for nice place with a helpful staff in a good area. read more

My husband and I just moved in to the Serrano apartments and there is nothing bad that we have to say! When we came to look at the apartments, Terra Tyson helped by showing us around the property. We continued to work with Terra throughout the whole lease signing and moving in process. She was absolutely FANTASTIC! Any questions we had, she had the answers to. After we moved in she wanted to meet our dogs. So I brought them to her and she had even bought them little toys!! How sweet is that?!?!? This is just a testament to how nice the resident support system is! Today I called the maintenance team because our dishwasher wasn't working and our oven door would not close all the way. Crystal came to fix it and did an awesome job! She even wore booties while in the apartment so that she wouldn't make a mess on the carpet! My family has lived at Serrano for more than a year now, and we are very happy with the community and the leasing team. The location is very convenient because it is in close proximity to the 5 freeway and a lot of shops and restaurants at the Marketplace. We recently had to make a change to the lease, and the leasing team was very accommodating and helpful. I got to deal with Rocio from the leasing team, and she was fantastic. She understood what we needed, and she gave us the information necessary to apply the change. She was very patient through the whole process and very understanding. read more

My garbage disposal was not working properly after two previous maintenance visits. Jorge showed up and on his first visit eliminated the noise. My disposal now works like new. He was very professional wearing booties and a mask above his nose (which was very much appreciated). He also took the time to inform me to use ice cubes in the disposal to help keep the blades sharp and clean. He takes pride in his work and it shows. read more

I'm giving this place 1 star because it is a decent place to live. The property is clean and there's ample amount of parking spaces. We lived here for over a year before breaking our lease and moving into our home. The reason I am giving it 1 star instead of the 5 that I was originally going to give is because of Nick. Nick miss-informed is on our walk through information stating that we didn't need to sign any paperwork and the if we were there for our walk through then we would be relinquishing our rights to use their vendors. When we went in to ask him to break our lease he once again gave us false information about breaking our lease and the status of our walk through. It wasn't until we spoke to someone else were we given proper instructions. Even after we had paid for our lease to be broken. We received another letter 2 months after demanding that we pay the rent responsibility amount. Thanks for not filing the correct paperwork. We had to call corporate in Newport Beach for them to figure it out. Like I said I would've given this place a 5 star review had it not been for Nick. We have never had a problem with anyone else or The Irvine Company. The maintenance crew was always on top of whatever needed to be fixed. read more

My husband and I went into Serrano looking for a new apartment in the Irvine area. The Leasing office staff was so incredibly welcoming and warm upon arrival. This was our first time looking for a place together, and we both were a bit nervous. We met with Garrett Miller, a sales person in the leasing office. Garrett was simply amazing. I lived at Serrano for 1 year and moving here was the worst decision I could've made. The agent showing me the apartment talked it up and it was nothing but a disappointment. The walls are thin to the point you can hear every step someone takes above you and when all your neighbors close their door. The entire apartment shakes when your neighbors open their sliding door. Stains will "magically" appear about 1 month after you move and it will then become your responsibility and the Irvine company will charge you when you move out. Don't even think about trying to put in a maintenance request because they only follow through if it is an absolute emergency. Also, don't expect to get your deposit back. I was charged for multiple miscellaneous costs and for items that did not need to be fixed. I was given wrong information from the leasing office regarding my move out date and costs, which also resulted in me loosing money. read more

I am hearing conflicting stories about leaving packages in the office. On the day of the stolen package, I talked to the community staff and they said packages can be delivered to the office except Amazon packages. Today, I talked with FedEx and he said some residents leave messages on their door asking couriers to leave packages at the office and the office rejects packages that do not require signatures. I also contacted corporate and asked to speak with the community manager and I have not heard anything back. read more

Before my review; let it be known that I am not a resident of Serrano apartments and this is solely based on the process of looking for a new apartment. Throughout my apartment search, i have come across very few apartment communities in Irvine and Tustin for under 1900 a month (for a 2 bed 2 bath). Almost immediately my roommates and myself loved Serrano apartments; from what we could see on the internet. Great sized bedrooms, remarkable reviews online, and right across the street from where we live now. On our first visit to the Serrano office to see a tour of the community, we informed them that it was two couples living in one apartment so parking for four cars was necessary. The manager stated he could not make an exception and gave us a list for some other apartments and sent us on our way. Mind you, these apartments that were given were wayyyy over our price range being newly built in Northwood. We weren't even shown the layout or community of Serrano. A week later, we had a change in our roommate situation and found ourselves with only 3 cars instead of 4. I called the office to see if they would allow 3 cars since they had turned us away at 4. The manager remembered who i was and once again stated they could not allow 3 cars as he has already made exceptions for other people to have 3 cars and could not give any more exceptions. Once again turning away our business and pretty much guaranteed leasing of an apartment. This was not a good impression to make. We are three responsible adults in our late twenties looking for a place to make our home; and being turned away for something as ridiculous as this is infuriating. read more

Living in Serrano is absolutely wonderful! I have been a resident for about 2 years now and I have nothing but good things to say about the complex. The property is always kept clean and their maintenance is always prompt and extremely helpful. I am very pleased with the customer service that Serrano provides. I've had the pleasure of having Crystal solve problems I've had with my utilities in the past. She not only took care of the problem within the day I put in the complaint, but she was also very professional and friendly. On another note, the location is central OC and close to the marketplace which I love! Complex is quiet, safe, and worry free! I love it here! Forget the 5 stars I give Serrano 6. read more

Irvine Company runs each apartment community independently so when they decided to jack our rent during renewal (in contrast to my friend's renewal increase of $15 at another Irvine Company community), we moved out. Service-wise, the leasing staff and maintenance staff are wonderful, and the community is very well-maintained. One thing to note though, as it was not made clear to me during move-in: your NWP water bill is communal for the entire complex. So even if you go on vacation for a month, don't expect to come home to a $0 water bill because your neighbors are still using it. read more

Amy Kopec from resident services is amazing. She is always happy to help and is proactive about accommodating residents as best she can. She is thorough and is a good listener. Whether on the phone or in person, she has always shown that she is eager to assist you and provide you with the answers/help you need. She has exceeded my expectations. My experience at Serrano has been very positive. Whenever I needed assistance, maintenance was available. I never had any major issues during my two years living here. The move out process is a bit unclear as the website doesn't state how to return the keys and by when but that isn't a big deal, just a suggestion for them to clarify. read more

I wanted to be a resident I had a schedule appt 4pm showed up on time there was two girls helping other residents and one guy not doing anything sat right in front of him did not get greeted at all by anyone very disappointed, was waiting for 15min and I finally gave up walk out and left! Update after an unfortunate event, I want to give Erica Stanley a five star rating, she personally called me and apologize for what had happened to me and assure me that Serrano does not treat their residents like that, I came in to the leasing office and met up with Erica showed me the community answered all my questions, she is super friendly and professional, I'm hoping to be a resident in the future read more

My husband and I lived here from 2014-2016. We now have a home since we hate apartment living. Between the two of us, we have lived in 7 different apartment complexes around Irvine and OC, and my husband even lived in Serrano before we met, which is why we chose this place to live when we got married. That said, as far as apartment living goes, this was our best experience combined... PROS: 1. it is surprisingly quiet, given the amount of people that live here (all different ethnicities, ages, and stages of life), We lived on the second floor, so sandwiched among neighbors on all sides. I was home most of the day and if i needed to nap, i could do so with the window open and it would be quite peaceful. Of course you can hear neighbors to a degree. We didnt have kids at the time, but I'm realistic enough to expect to hear tantrums going on upstairs from time to time. Walls are never soundproof. 2. Beautiful heated pools that are never crowded (except on holidays which you can expect). I had no problem having my family and friends visit and enjoy the grill and the pool. It felt like a resort without being too big in size like, say, Villa Siena down there by UCI. Open until 10pm and great for exercise. Always cleaned. 3. Grills were always cleaned and I used them frequently to cook my dinners. 4. Parking is easy, never too full. Even guest parking is available 90% of the time. 5. Maintenance is awesome! those guys are so polite and respectful of your space and they respond promptly to requests, as does front desk. Staff are good about letting you know exactly when work is scheduled to be done in the building. Also, they are overall good about updating/testing things like smoke alarms, water heaters, filters, etc. 6. Decent quality in the building materials/ammenities. Rooms had nice blinds in them, carpet was very clean, cabinets were updated, fridge was roomy enough. Which is why we chose this over a nearby complex with outdated stuff. 7. People seem nice. No problems with neighbors, no hearing people yelling or making too much noise at night. I dont think anyone had parties. 8. Great location. right next to all the stores at the marketplace, hiking areas, freeway, etc. CONS: 1. Small living area. We could only fit a couch and a chair in our 2bd/2 ba place. 2. Storage space is scarce. No storage closet aside from bedroom closets, like an entry closet for coats, vacuum or a place to put linens. 3. Sliding glass doors are loud. I could always hear people opening them and it would be like thunder. not a big deal though 4. Smoke alarms frequently going off around dinner time, including mine. Not sure if that can be remedied, I think they are just sensitive since I never burned a meal. read more

One of staffs named Sean was very helpful and such great guy. He explained everything what I needed and was all very friendly to me every time I visited. This place is an absolute joke, DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. From the day I moved in I saw multiple cockroaches in my apartment and garage, which I immediately complained about to management and they offered no compensation of any kind. I continued to deal with cockroaches showing up in the drains of the bathrooms and all over my patio, even after the pest control came by and sprayed the apartment twice. Once again, the management at Serrano offered no help or compensation other than to call the pest control company again. After two months of dealing with this, I couldn't handle seeing cockroaches anymore and decided to move out. Then to top it all off, the management here at Serrano sends me a letter saying I owe $1200 to replace the carpet when I was only living there for two months and have picture evidence of the dirty carpet from the day I moved in. Overall, terrible experience and I would not ever consider moving here again, even if the rent was free. read more

I'm going to echo with what the other Yelpers are saying because I am getting so frustrated visiting my friends here and never finding any parking because residents are parking in visitor sections so that I pretty much never have a place to park! You would think that with this many complaints the management would actually DO something instead of giving excuses, but nope... all they ever say is that they continue to cite cars and conduct garage inspections but I never see cars with tickets and I even saw a U-Haul truck that parked in a resident stall that CLEARLY DIDN'T GET ONE. Seriously. I know it sounds so lame to say that there isnt a space to park, but when it's the weekend and we're trying to have a good time, it's even more frustrating coming back to find that there isn't a single space available to park. Management, do something about this because whatever it is you're currently doing ISN'T WORKING OUT. read more

Often, some are quick to comment on the negatives without commending those on the positives that we experience. I've lived at Serrano for 5 years now, and I must say that the apartments, property, and ammenities are clean and well maintained. It's a safe, quiet community and has great access to the freeway as well as practically any type of service you desire. I've also found that in comparison to square footage versus other IAC properties, Serrano has stayed competitive throughout the years. I need to commend Sean in the leasing office as well for his professionalism, and ability to create a great relationship between tenants and staff. Thanks Sean! read more

I lived here for approximately one year. The location is great, units have been redone, washers/dryers in the unit, they allow pets and they have a garage for each unit (which is really nice for extra storage space). They had a gym and pools (which I actually never used but they looked nice). The apt complex is near several shopping centers. I lived in a 1 bedroom/1 bath and paid 1500/month (including my pet rent). I never had a problem with noise with the exception of a few dogs (but it wasn't frequent), I frankly never saw my neighbors. I paid a total of 1050 for a security deposit (including a 700 or 800 pet deposit) and I got all but 200 back for cleaning and some painting (I never cleaned the apt before I left). My only compliant is that sometimes people did a bad job at picking up after their dog, which really irritated me. I would recommend Serrano. read more

I used my maiden name as I didn't want to get into an email exchange with your staff. My reason for posting was to warn others about the difficulties I encountered with the leasing office. I hope that management can provide training to the staff on the importance of being polite to residents, both in person and via email. A little niceness goes a long way and there is one person in particular that needs to change her tone with residents/customers.
