Beautifully decorated bar (books & instruments)!
    Eunhae H.

I absolutely love the bar area at Settecento! The space is gorgeous and fun. The bar opens up to their enormous patio seating area and has a high-rise, glass ceiling with violins and trumpets hanging overhead. The walls surrounding the bar are lined with books, which honestly makes this place a little magical. It's such a fun and beautiful setting! They also host weddings and private events, which makes perfect sense given the location. Settecento is nestled within Maguire Gardens and right next to the Central Library, so you really feel like you're tucked away from the middle of Downtown LA. I've been here a couple of times now for both lunch and happy hour, and I ALWAYS have to get a pizza. I absolutely love their fluffy, airy pizza dough! I've tried the Tartufo, which comes with mozzarella, mushrooms, roasted garlic, truffle oil, Parmesan crumble topped with fresh truffle. There's probably a reason this pizza appears on practically every one of their menus--brunch, lunch, happy hour, and dinner. You also can't go wrong with their classic Margherita, but my favorite so far has to be the Vesuvio. It comes with smoked provola, mozzarella, roasted peppers, confit tomatoes, burrata, and basil. I absolutely LOVE this pizza. You get an entire ball of burrata that is so rich and creamy, and the roasted peppers and smoky provola add so much flavor. The confit tomatoes bring just the right amount of acidity to cut through all that richness. So good! Their happy hour is also such a great deal and runs daily from 2:00-6:00 p.m. I've tried quite a few things from the menu, including the Bruschetta Trio, Napoletano Sliders, Patatine Fritte, and Polenta Fritta. The Bruschetta Trio comes with three different toppings: caponata & smoked provolone, tomato & basil, and salmon & sour cream. It's light, savory, and delicious. The Napoletano Sliders come with Wagyu beef, fried eggplant, smoked provola, and spicy mayo. The Patatine Fritte are french fries topped with pecorino, and they're always solid! I love the seasoning, and the fries come out perfectly crispy. The Polenta Fritta is fried polenta served with a pecorino cream fondue and is another great snack to share. For the price and quality, I'm a huge fan of their happy hour menu. It's such a fun way to try several different dishes without committing to a full dinner. Service has also been consistently wonderful every time I've visited. Everyone is friendly, attentive, and professional. They're always making sure your water is filled, you have enough napkins, and you have everything you need. I'm always coming back!

My friend and I both work in the downtown area and wanted to get together for drinks, catch up, and just hang out. Since we live pretty far from each other, I searched for a good midpoint location, and this restaurant came up. I remembered the location from before, although I believe it used to be something else. I have to say, it was a great find! The restaurant was easy to get to, and the parking couldn't be more convenient. You can park right underneath at the Central Library parking garage. It really doesn't get much better than that, especially in Downtown LA, where finding easy parking can sometimes be a challenge! The restaurant itself is beautiful. When you walk in, you're surrounded by glass and a very modern design. One thing to keep in mind is that the indoor tables and chairs are fairly close together. If you prefer a little more space, I would recommend sitting outside, weather permitting. The outdoor patio is huge and seems to be where most of the seating is located. I definitely recommend making a reservation. The atmosphere is young, lively, and vibrant. It's loud, but not annoyingly loud--it just has a fun energy. Our servers, Diego and JC, were fantastic! They provided great service, were honest about the menu, and gave us some excellent recommendations. We went with their suggestions, and they did not disappoint. They have both a great happy hour menu and a full dinner menu. We decided to stick with happy hour this time. I highly recommend the bruschetta trio and the cantaloupe martini. The martini isn't overly sweet; it's light, refreshing, and really, really good! Overall, this was a great find in Downtown LA. Great atmosphere, convenient parking, excellent service, and a fun happy hour. I'm already looking forward to going back and trying dinner next time!

Good service by the team. Got in just in time before they did last call for happy hours. Drinks were good, food was good. Minus 1 star as it was a bit stuffy inside the restaurant during my visit, felt as if no AC was on.

Very big restaurant with impressive bar, outside seatting feels like in Italy. Spaghetti is perfectly cooked the Italian way.

What a decadent summer outdoor seating restaurant that highlights the skyscrapers of LA. We had the salad de Settecento, the brazino, and filet mignon. All delicious and didn't require any additional seasoning. Park at the central library and walking distance to the restaurant! Diego was the top server on our plate! We appreciate him giving us the highlights of the food and heed his recommendations. Thank you for being accommodating for our late night bites.

So glad I chose to make reservations to dine at Settecento. Made reservation on Saturday for 6 before I saw their happy hour ends at 6 so dialed it back to 5 to bring in 2 friends for their birthdays who thought we were coming in to celebrate something else :) We basically ordered everything off the happy hour menu. I got the okura old fashioned because that's what they're known for, and wanted to see how this differs from a regular old fashioned. Was smooth but could have been a tad stronger. All in all glad we cake here instead of a pretentious spot with a long wait. This place was great, chill vibes walking distance from hotel and is enjoyed by locals. The wagyu sliders and mussels were my favs. Pizza was okay. Bruschetta was good. The Italian gelato my friends got were so smooth. I'm so glad I chose this over bottega Louie, because I didn't want to go to a pretentious place and wanted to be able to book reservations

Settecento was such a great spot for a girls' night! The atmosphere was cute and relaxing, and we never felt rushed, which made it perfect for sitting, chatting, and enjoying the evening. Our table also had a cute little view of the park that added to the experience. We got drinks, appetizers, entrees, and tiramisu for dessert, and everything was absolutely delicious! The food was amazing from start to finish, and we had such a great time. Definitely a spot I'd recommend for a fun girls' night out!

The pasta was good. I would have liked if I was offered cracked pepper and Parmesan. Our server was very nice (and a comedian). Would go back just got him. The outdoor seating was nice. The bar takes up much of the restaurant so, we sort of had to sit outside. But, it was nice out so, it was fine.

    Margherita Pizza, pepata di cozze
    Ashtyn A.

My boyfriend and I came for happy hour and got the Margherita pizza, Polpette (meatballs, not pictured), and the pepata di cozze (mussels). We also got two glasses of wine, a beer and an IPA. Food was pretty good, nothing insane that really stood out to me but it was definitely a solid meal. Ambiance is incredible, I drove by this spot once a couple weeks ago and immediately made plans to go the following week. Very pretty patio and a very fun bar design. Great vibe for a date night or special occasion I do think service could have been a teeny bit better. We never got any refills on water and it did take quite a while for our waiter to come take orders--even though we were one of few parties there at the tome. idk I felt like it took forever for us to finally be able to place an order. All that said, I'm willing to give the staff the benefit of the doubt and I could definitely see myself coming back

I had plans to head to Cal Plaza, so we decided to make reservations and grab something to eat. First, let me say that this place is really nice. The atmosphere is welcoming, comfortable, and just has a great vibe. Everyone who worked there was friendly, down to earth, and genuinely pleasant. I always appreciate servers who are, as I like to put it, just really cool. As for the food, we ordered a salad and a Margherita pizza, and I have to say, both were excellent. The salad was fresh and flavorful, and the dressing made it really stand out. The Margherita pizza was absolutely delicious, and it paired perfectly with a couple of drinks. We really enjoyed ourselves. The outdoor dining area is especially cool. For me, it was a little surreal because I worked in downtown for many years and passed this location almost every day. I remember when it was a completely different restaurant, so sitting there brought back a lot of memories. Whoever came up with the idea for the current concept did an outstanding job. The whole place just feels inviting and relaxed. If you're in the area, have some free time, and you're looking for really good food, a couple of drinks, and a great atmosphere, I would definitely recommend stopping by. It's a fantastic place to kick back, enjoy yourself, and have a really good meal.

The food at Settecento was absolutely amazing, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and beautiful patio. Unfortunately, our experience took a very unpleasant turn. While we were sitting on the patio, I personally saw and killed THREE cockroaches near our table. I understand that outdoor dining can come with occasional bugs, but seeing three cockroaches during one meal was extremely concerning and made it difficult to enjoy the rest of our dinner. For a restaurant with such wonderful food and a beautiful setting, I really hope management takes this seriously and has the patio area professionally treated and inspected. The food truly deserves a great review, but the roach situation definitely needs immediate attention.

Love the ambiance. It has a great flow of indoor to outdoor space. Went there after visiting the Central Library. We got there on Sunday during their happy Hour menu. My girls and I shared a pizza, meatball and wagu sliders. Good service. Love the book and musical instruments as their decor!

Not that type of hangout. Busy lunch crowd and they want to flip the tables and serve food.

I think I ended up paying $12 and added tip on top of that. The restaurant itself is cozy. Everyone was dressed up~ so I'd say this place is a little more dressy than casual. The menu isn't too expensive, which is kind of nice. The korean aguachile was yummy and reminiscent of dongchimigooksu type of broth. The crispy kimchi pancake was divided into six parts and topped with some greens with a side of dipping sauce. This was yummy, but if you've had Korean pancake before this is pretty standard. The creamy chicken broth and fresh noodle was also a nice little soup to share. I don't recall anything, particularly stand out about this dish though. The atmosphere is immersive, theatrical, moody, and every nook and cranny of this place is beautifully detailed. Our group embraced the requested all-black dress code, and I was a little disappointed that some other guests didn't play along. When a place puts this much effort into creating a particular world, dressing the part really does make the experience more fun. The spirits themselves were excellent. We tasted vodka, whiskey, and rum, and all three were remarkably smooth, interesting, and clearly very high quality. I loved that the tasting was guided rather than just having drinks dropped in front of us. The storytelling and presentation made us pay attention to what we were actually tasting and gave the evening a nice sense of progression. We also happened to be there while comic artist Matt Harley of Marvel fame was sketching, which felt perfectly suited to the setting and made an already unusual night even more memorable. I went on a Monday, right after they opened at 5 pm, it already people sitting at the bar. The crowd was very chill, very typical Echo Park low-key characters, quite a few seemed to know the staff well. The food and drinks were all fine to me, I had a couple old fashions, my girlfriend had a specialty drink with brunt orange something, she liked it. We tried the chicken thighs, fried green tomatoes, and the chicken biscuit. They all were good, my only issue, the chicken biscuit item is not served on a biscuit like I was thinking , its just on a sandwich bun essentially. Overall, I would go again maybe on a Friday or Saturday night to see the difference, if any of the crowd and vibe.
