This was my first time visiting Settecento and it was really good! Food: we got the squash soup ($8) (soup of the day), and I got the Gnocchi al Ragu alla Napoletana ($28). My friend got the salmone in Crosta di Mandorle ($35). They were all really good! Portions were on the smaller side when looking at prices in my opinion, but makes sense since it was in DTLA. Service was a bit slow in the beginning, however, after we ordered it got better. We initially waited about 20 minutes to order, but after we ordered the dishes came out pretty quickly and they checked up on us. Ambiance is great. I would imagine during the daytime it's a whole different vibe, but at night it was still beautiful and very romantic. Great for a date night or girl's night! Parking might be a bit more difficult, but my friend and I somehow were able to snag street parking right in front of the restaurant. I believe you typically have to pay meter parking. Overall, a great experience, I would love to come back during the day to see the vibes! read more

The food was great! Not a large menu, but pretty good staples. Everyone at our table got something different so they were all delicious dishes. I can attest to the Filet minion, pasta, and pizza. We came to celebrate my mother in law's bday as well as my husband's and even told her. The view from the restaurant is really nice. It's nestled in the center of DTLA so it's surrounded by skyscrapers and this library/park. It can be hard to find when walking depending on where you park. This is a beautifully decorated restaurant with a stunning outdoor patio that faces the rear of the Art Deco Central Library building. A lovely ambiance with very good wait service. Our party didn't order many dishes since we were all less-than-hungry, but the few items we did sample were delicious: parmigiana di melanzane (fried eggplant), the fried calamari & shrimp, the quatro formaggi pizza and the burger. I came here on a whim on our way to an event on Friday night. We walked in without a reservation but luckily we were able to snag a couple of seats at the bar. The bartender who helped us out was excellent and I wish I got his name. He was super helpful with questions about the menu, made an incredible espresso martini, and provided prompt and friendly service. I ordered the Fettuccine alla Nerano and my boyfriend ordered the Settecento pizza. We also got espresso martinis and tiramisu for dessert. My pasta was buttery with zucchini and squash blossoms and was absolutely delicious. I know it has butter so it's not super light but it's a lighter dish so I was able to have a slice of the Settecento pizza. The pizza had very thin crust with prosciutto, burrata, and pesto drizzled on top. It was flavorful with a light and crispy crust. We had room for dessert so we debated between the cannoli and the tiramisu but tiramisu won in the end. This was good but I think our entrees were even better. The energy in this restaurant is very high with a lot of music, lots of Italian being spoken, and very friendly staff. Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas are very beautiful and it's an ideal place for date night or a smaller birthday celebration. It's been a while since I've had a place in LA blow me away with all of the elements of a great restaurant. Settecento definitely fit the bill. The amazing food, service, and ambiance hits for the trifecta here. First the food, bread, appetizers, pasta, and pizzas were amazing. My table had the minestrone, caprese, and salads along with the funghi salcicca, Quattro pizza (cheese on steroids), margarita and pastas. They were all loved by the table. The desserts were the affogato and someone had gelato. Delicious flavors and espresso. The service was very well done. Remus was probably the most enthusiastic server and always on top of things. He memorized 8 drink orders on the fly and kept smiling the whole time. The food was prepared quickly and was all delicious. The ambiance....just one of the most picturesque restaurants I've seen in a while. I love a good motif. This restaurant is next to the LA public library and and thus is tastefully and beautifully themed after that concept. Books as pillars, gorgeous bar concept, and open concept with a lovely garden to eat, seals the deal. I enjoyed this place so much more than I reasonably thought. I will be coming back. Also!!!! The prices for a DTLA spot was unbelievably reasonable. $25 for an app, pizza or pasta and $5 more for a dessert. 30 bucks. Person!! Worth it to the 100th degree. Support this one. Came here for my birthday and had a really lovely time. We sat all the way in the back of the grassy area, allowing us a full view of the restaurant. There was live music and singing and it was a busy night with a few parties. Loved the atmosphere. Service was standard. We started with drinks: Lychee Martini, Situationship, and Toki Pona. All were delicious. As an appetizer we got the Vesuvio pizza and I loved the burrata cheese and pepper toppings. I got the Pappardelle al Ragù d'Agnello and my bf got the Risotto Mare. Unfortunately, the customer service was very disappointing. We asked if a dish could be slightly modified, but were told that the chef doesn't like modifications because 'this is how it's eaten in Italy,' so we had to order it exactly as it comes. I understand wanting to keep dishes authentic, but the way it was communicated felt unwelcoming and inflexible. Our waiter was also not very attentive. He only came back to our table once, and that was after we had to call him over just to ask for a refill. Overall, the staff came across as rude, and the service did not match the experience we were expecting. Settecento is an absolutley lovely place, right next to the public library. The interior is bright and airy, and makes you feel instantly on vacation! The menu has a good range of items and price points that make it great for a group- fun appetizers, pasta, pizza, and larger format dishes for all appetites. I got the polenta bites with the cheesy dipping sauce - crunchy, creamy, and a perfect snack size. The pasta came with the shrimp already cut up, which is a fantastic attention to detail. No one wants their food sliding all over the place as you try to cut up shrimp so you're not trying to bite into whole ones in front of your guests! The burger was big and meaty. A bit dry, but the caramelized onions were a nice touch, and the tang of the truffle sauce was welcome. Fries were also crispy and well salted. The cocktails were refreshing, and the bartender was happy to make one that I REALLY wanted by subbing out guava for the passion fruit syrup they were out of. My server was amazingly nice and helpful, didn't try to push or upsell, and he packaged my leftovers well. My only critiques were that my food came out ALLLLLL at once, which is super awkward. It's not a Settecento thing- I've noticed lately that pacing has become an issue in many restaurants I go to, and I think it's a conversation we should be having. Also- when I came in, there was a person standing at the hostess stand, and I assumed I should tell them I was there for a reservation, and she was somewhat dismissive and acted like I'd asked a dumb question as she told me she wasn't the hostess and I should wait. My boyfriend and I had dinner at Settecento for a double date and the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. First, we actually got lucky with parking and found a meter spot right in front of the entrance, which was a great start to the evening. We had 7:00 PM reservations for four and arrived around 7:15 PM. Our friends were running very late, but the hostess was incredibly kind and accommodating. I asked if we could sit somewhere with the most comfortable chairs because I have MS and deal with spinal cord pain 24/7. She was so sweet and understanding and sat us inside with very comfortable chairs. I'm truly grateful for that and want to say thank you again. While my boyfriend and I waited for our friends (who ended up being about an hour late), we ordered a Lychee Martini. Our waitress never introduced herself, so unfortunately I don't know her name. In the beginning she was attentive and checked in on us several times while we waited. Since we were getting hungry, she suggested appetizers and we ordered the bread and the Settecento salad. The bread was warm, soft, and really good, and the salad was delicious. When our friends finally arrived (they said they couldn't find parking nearby and ended up parking at a mall), we were ready to order. This is when the service started to become slow and distant. We ordered cantaloupe martinis, which aren't on the menu but apparently are something people recommend trying (my friend saw them on Instagram). They were tasty, but they took a very long time to come out. Our waitress later told us the ticket must have been misplaced. For food, we ordered the fungi mushroom pizza, chicken with vegetables, and I originally wanted the carbonara. Unfortunately they told me they didn't have it, which was disappointing for an Italian restaurant. I ended up ordering the braised beef cheek instead. Sadly, it was much sweeter than expected and I regretted ordering it after the first bite. On the other hand, the chicken dish was absolutely delicious and the potatoes were very well seasoned along with the grilled vegetables. For dessert we had the Baba Napolitano, which was light and tasty and probably one of the highlights. Another issue was the service later in the night. When we needed more water, we couldn't find our waitress anywhere. After a long wait, a gentleman waiter came by and told us he would be taking over our table for the rest of the night. There was no transition or introduction beforehand, which felt a bit odd. Usually a server lets the table know when their shift ends and introduces the next person taking over. Service after that continued to be slow. My friend and her husband ordered the filet mignon well done but received it rare. At that point they didn't even want to complain because the service had already been taking so long and we had been waiting a lot throughout the night. To give credit where it's due, the waitress was attentive in the beginning. Our friends arriving an hour late definitely didn't help the flow of the evening, and she did come by several times to ask if we were ready to order while they were still deciding. However, the lack of introduction, the disappearing act later in the night, and the slow service overall made the experience frustrating. In the end, my boyfriend actually had to get up and ask for the check after trying to flag someone down a few times. We were there from about 7:15 PM until around 10:30 PM. Normally we wouldn't spend that long at dinner, but service was so slow that we ended up staying almost until closing time. This place used to be a blight on the city and the nearby library that shares the grounds but thankfully the city stepped up, cleaned it up, and bam: we got Settecento. I've been here a number of times now for after work drinks and lunch and it's really a lovely experience. When I came for lunch, it is a preset menu with an antipasto and entrée. There was so much food that I just had the pasta made to go and gave it to my husband for dinner. He raved about it and my salad was fantastic. The few times I've been service has been a little spotty, but they have a beautiful bar inside and sitting out on the ground is very enjoyable in the LA weather. It feels like a small garden situated within the concrete jungle that is Downtown LA. I like how they have the referential book decor. It's cute and has a nice sense of place considering the adjacent seat of the library. There's a few nice downtown bars in the Bunker Hill neighborhood, but this has been a really nice addition to keep it fresh and change up the scenery. read more

Now for the food, love the bread but would like the porchetta sandwich to have more juice/drippings/moisture, fries and fruit salad nice portions. My wife had a margarita pizza and added truffles an sausage she enjoyed it. The caprese was presented nicely with the burrata inside a whole tomato with basil oil. Nice! Despite there being several empty tables for two, I still had to wait and the hostess seemed a bit annoyed, but still got me a nice table outside next to the garden. I ordered a glass of wine, the soup of the day (mushroom cream soup), risotto as the main course and a tiramisu for dessert. The soup was rather bland. The risotto was delicious, but I found the portion a bit small. The tiramisu was very tasty. The service was ok, but I never got a bread basket and was never offered any parm for my risotto. An Italian restaurant that gives me a glimpse of what Italy will feel like! (I have yet to see the real Italy... still on my list of travel experiences) I came here around 2:30pm wanting an outdoor dining experience.on a summer Friday. This setting was just perfect. They have umbrellas for outdoor seating in case you're worried of too much sun on your skin like me (High importance: please always wear your sunscreen y'all) This setting is located near the Los Angeles Central library which I also recommend checking out if you're in the area and have spare time. It was lunch hours. I was offered their lunch pre-fix menu for a set price. So I settled for a caprese salad, side of fries and their gnocchi pasta with beef, pork, laid with ragu sauce and topped with garnishing. Served in lunch portions meaning smaller amount which was just enough for my filling. Food was pleasant to my taste and the service was pleasing. Incredible! I was completely impressed with Settecento! I visited for dinner, while staying at the Westin Bonaventure. I made a reservation for 5:30pm on a Saturday evening and was able to get right in. Upon arrival I was initially impressed by the bar. I loved the books and the hanging musical instruments. It was very unique. The hostess sat us on the beautiful outdoor patio, near the fountain. It was the perfect summer night to sit outside. The only thing to note, is it is open, so you do get a couple interesting characters passing by, and we did have some stinky cigarette smoke from some pedestrians. I must mention the hostess...she was not very upbeat or friendly. She sort of seemed like she wasn't happy to be there, and her outfit didn't seem to fit the vibe of a nice Italian restaurant (she had on pleather leggings). However, our server and all other staff were extremely kind and helpful when asked questions about the menu. It's good to note that happy hour ends at 6pm and they have some really great items to choose from. I do wish that when ordering a mocktail (non-alcoholic) the price varied from the alcohol version. Also, my friend and I learned an important lesson that still or sparkling water is $7 a bottle. When we were offered tap, flat or sparkling, we were not aware that tap was the only free option. The food was incredible. I ordered a pizza and my friend had pasta. I loved the big piece of burrata on my pizza...it was so creamy.
