You get treated like you just ordered a $500 steak in Alexander's steakhouse but in reality you are having a $30 all you can hot pot :-). Had an okay experience here. Meats were good, really enjoyed the building bar, and the chicken karaage. I probably had a different experience than other customers who have dined here. I came in for lunch one day because i was excited to try this place out. Sadly i did not have the best experience. Soup broth was nice, but having it changed out constantly was difficult. The broth got very oily, very quickly after cooking the meats in it. So if you wanted to enjoy the broth you would probably have to switch it out a good amount of times. They are located in the Veranda shopping mall. I have been to a few Shabu places in the SF Bay Area and this one is good. I like the set up that you have your own broth choice of miso, spicy miso, tonkatsu, and their special broth which is a mixture of all. There is a giant bar where you get your own various types vegetables, seafood, fish balls, ramen, udon, and sauces. The meats are brought by the wait staff. It is an ACYE all day for 25.00 per person which Iincludes their appetizers of gyoza along with choices of volcano, Cajun, and regular chicken Karage. They have an alcohol bar as well. I wasn't expecting much since it's an AYCE but I loved it! The variety of food was good and their "salad bar" had a good variety of vegetables and seafood! Came here on a Sunday night, for the second time, and we realized they had a bar! It doesn't look like it, since it's missing chairs , but my boyfriend and I decided to grab a drink. Essentially it's a soju drink, and you can pick and mix flavors! Definitely worth a try, if you're in for a drink, or if you're waiting for your table The food here is great, I like the broths they offer ! I've tried spicy miso, which is exactly what it says lol, spicy miso. The House broth is also very tasty. My only complaint is that they don't have taro!!! I wish they had taro to throw into our soup. But it's okay, all the add-ins offered at the bar thing there, are good! They seem fresh. The seafood seems safe as well, nothing questionable. My family was so excited that this shabu place opened in Concord. We didn't have to wait that long, only about 30 mins for party of 6 on a Sunday for lunch (originally 45 mins but the table before us didn't show up :D). Overall the food was good and filling. The only things that bothered us was that we could only order 4 meats at a time..I would think at least one per person..it didn't make sense when the two people next to us could order 4..we kept having to wait for our waitress to come to ask for more meat The biggest issue we had was that the waitress put two other people at our table (since technically 8 people could sit there..two tables put together..) which was *extremely* inconvenient to get up to get more food. I didn't appreciate it because there was no privacy within our party and I felt uncomfortable sitting so close to a stranger..even the waiter thought they were part of our party at several points. I've never been to a restaurant where they have done this. Essentially my husband and I were sharing the table with two strangers on our side. They didn't even ask us if it was okay! Eh.. This was my brother and I's first time at Shabuya and it was definitely a good choice. Neither of us had ever been to a hot pot restaurant but our server #Hunnay explained everything to us in great detail so we knew what to do. She really stayed on top of things and provided us with great customer service that didn't seem faked or forced at all. The restaurant itself is really nice and well decorated, loved the ambiance and everything looked nice and clean. I was very comfortable eating there. The food was delicious. It's a buffet-style restaurant as well so you can pick and choose whatever you'd like to eat along with the four different meats (you're served four types at a time) you select. The vegetables and fish were fresh and the spicy miso broth was great. I haven't had a nice dinner like this in a while, and it was a fun and satisfying way to end a busy week. We came here for mother's day lunch. Long line and wait time if you come in 1 hour later before they open. Ordering is via your phone and they did not mention the limitation in quantity per order. Most of our orders did not came until 30 minutes after we asked the server. Even if you place your order right after you received the 1st order it still took a while. The restaurant does not take reservations so you have to go there to put your name on a list. Last night (2/18) we went to the veranda. I told my friend to drop me off so I can quickly add my name to their list while she is searching for parking. Parking is challenging in that area. Now one thing I should mention. Im NOT an anti masker or anti vaxer..... but as of 2/16, restrictions have been lifted in Contra Costa County. So I walk up to the restaurant, wait in a 5 minute line- just to give my name to the hostess. When I approach the female hostess, she immediately says "you need a mask." So I apologize and say "oh I'm so sorry I thought it was no longer required". She told me they as a restaurant still do. So I immediately got a piece of clothing so cover my face - so I can quickly just give my name and go wait outside. My friend would soon park and give me a extra mask. The lady told me that covering from clothes don't count and that I need a "real" mask. I told her again- " I'm sorry can I just give you my name? My friend is parking and bringing my mask." I was going to wait outside. Her Co worker intervened "can you step outside, we'll get your name there!" At this point they were just trying to shame me. It was so rude. What was wrong with covering my nose and mouth with clothing? I was going to wait outside. You take your mask off while your sitting!? Mask restrictions were actually lifted! I understand every company has different rules- but that little angry hostess just looked miserable doing her job. So uneducated. A face cover is a cover. Awful hostess. I came here for a late lunch yesterday because a friend recommended it and I saw raving reviews on Yelp. Let me start off by saying that I am very very impressed with the staff! In fact, the 2-stars is strictly for them! The customer service was just so on point that I'd come here again in the future if my friends want to (and not feel begrudgingly so). The host yesterday got me seated in less than 5 minutes and explained how everything works since it was my first time at Shabuya. Every waiter/waitress was super friendly and readily available to answer any questions I had. The entire place was well maintained; clean and great music that isn't overly blasting to ruin the ambience. I came here because I was intrigued by the AYCE hot pot concept and the selection looked good via my friend's recommendation. However, I'm actually extremely disappointed with the selection! There weren't a lot of sauce options. For an example, they had ponzu sauce but no fish sauce or soy sauce available. In addition, the food selection was below par. Only two types of shellfish options: mussels and clams and one type of fish: swai fish. The only other seafood available were blue crab and baby octopus. The soup base was very bland as well. Literally no flavoring to it whatsoever. Along with the lack of sauce selection, I didn't even have any way of spicing it up to my own liking. Their premium meat selection also doesn't justify for the price at $25.99/person. When I dipped their meat into the soup base to cook it, there's a semi-fishy/poultry smell that clung onto the meat pieces that made me nauseous. (Maybe I'm just not used to restaurants serving the meat without it being slight marinated?) Overall, I wouldn't recommend. Stick to Tasty Pot because it's cheaper and definitely more delicious! read more

What sucks in this place was the guy in black clothes, who looks like Chinese infront of the door doesn't have any customer service thing in his mind. He kept on putting away waiting customers outside the door. At that time it was raining very hard and my senior citizen folks was very cold and drench with rain. It's kind a ride for that guy to turn off away customers outside. This place should designate awaiting chairs inside like any other dine in restaurant. The customer service is terrible with a rude staff. This is not the 1st time I have had a bad experience at this place. I came back to give them a 2nd chance but they obviously disappointed me again. We arrived at 9:08 & they said that their kitchen closes at 9:30 even though they close at 10.00. The food is already prepared & all they need to serve you is hot water for the soup. They refused to sit us and the host said they had no available tables when the place was half empty. I'm definitely not going back to this place & highly recommend you don't either. Hosts are supposed to welcome guests, not look them up and down giving customers dirty looks and then laugh at them when they're understandably upset for being refused service during hours of operation. Note to the owner/management; have respectful and welcoming staff that actually want to work when the business is still open. Never returning. read more

Good place for AYCE in the East Bay. The meat portions are trimmed well and fresh. I like that the veggies and other cold / seafood / sides / sauces are self service. The service is prompt but we went before the dinner crowd. We noticed it was busy with people waiting at 6:45 PM when we were leaving.
