You can choose from 4 different broths (original house broth, miso broth, spicy miso broth, tonkotsu broth, sukiyaki broth), 5 different meats (black angus beef toro, natural pork belly, prime chuck eye roll, natural chicken thigh, natural pork shoulder), and 4 different appetizers (gyoza, original chicken karaage, cajun chicken karaage, volcano chicken karaage). Down side...it's only available from Monday-Thursday (10:30 am-3:00 pm) and not available on holidays. $27.99 if you come at any other time. There's always a crowd, but if you come early you won't have to wait. The broths are nothing spectacular, but you can make flavor them up by heading to the sauce bar, which includes - sliced jalapenos, chopped green onions, chopped cilantro, minced radish, ponzu sauce, minced garlic, asian chili, yuzu, goma (sesame), and spicy yuzu. Don't waste your time with the free appetizers. They're nothing special and will only fill you up when you could be eating other more delicious choices. Just FYI... After letting your server know what broths and meats you want, you make your way to the 'salad bar'. Here is where you can choose your vegetables, noodles, sauces, and seafood items (shrimp, clams, crab sticks). I like that there are a variety of noodles to choose from - soba, jap chae, konica brown noodle, udon, ramen, somen. Try not to fill up on that, though. You want to get your fill from the unlimited meat that you can order. You can only order 4 orders of meat at a time. The meats are thinly sliced. I found the chicken thigh interesting because I've never seen chicken sliced so thinly. Nothing special about that except that it's thinly sliced, though. Skip the chicken. I have been here twice and service has been good both times. They are attentive and friendly. The atmosphere gets your adrenaline going because the music is something you might hear at the gym. It's fun, but not relaxing at all. There are tvs mounted on the walls, with shows like America's Got Talent, Korean music videos or concerts, and sports. I'd definitely come again, but probably only for the lunch special. It's too bad that the lunch special is only available from Monday through Thursday. I came in during lunch with three other friends and I was sat pretty fast. Keep in mind I waitlisted earlier. I highly suggest doing that as it can get really busy and the wait can get up to an hour or more. They seemed pretty good about the ongoing pandemic. They checked our temperatures before entry and it seemed like everyone was spaced out. The food was really good. They started us with broth - my friend and I got the house broth, which was light and gave us more space to order and eat more meats, seafoods, and veggies. My other two friends got the vegan broth and the tonkotsu broth (was heavier than the other broths) and they both loved their broths. For the meats, I recommend getting the US Wagyu Beef and the Special Short Rib "Triple SR". I had the natural pork belly and the shabuya rib eye as well but I preferred the first two more as I felt it still had a bit of juiciness and tenderness to it despite me accidentally overcooking it at times. The sauces they offered were all really good. I sadly don't remember the names to them, but they all offer a different flavor to spice up your meat however you would like. The service here was amazing. We had Kobe (also known as #Excuse me) and he was extremely kind and always tried to accommodate to us. One of my friends has an extremely severe egg and dairy allergy and Kobe was very upfront about what she could and could not have. He also prepared her broth and toppings separately to avoid any cross contamination so she could still enjoy her meal here. In general, he often checked up on us and made sure we had everything we needed, which we all really appreciated. If you ever come here, I recommend having Kobe as your server! One of my very close friends came back to visit. We decided to all do a dinner date with 7 people. I don't think they take reservations so we walked in around 5:30pm on a Sunday night. We got a table right away. We were seated in the back on a long table. The restaurant was big and spacious. The food bar was in the center of the restaurant. All you can eat for about $28. The table was set up with little pots and stove for each person. No need to share your pot of soup base! Woooohoo! There were a couple of options of soup bases. I chose the spicy flavor. We all got different soup bases so I just spooned some from them to taste. There were appetizers on the menu that we can order, it's all fried food (chicken and gyoza). Although it comes in little bowls/portion, unlimited ordering. For the meat we can order 4 at a time. As soon as we ordered our soup we went to the food bar to get seafood, veggies, and carbs. Gosh! There were so many selections of it. I wish I could have everything but my stomach cannot fill that much. I picked what I usually don't get to eat at home. Flavoring of the food depends on your soup because most of the food isn't marinated. There's a sauce station where there's variety of sauces you can choose from. Everything was good! I was satisfied. Service was great! Our male server was attentive. He came often to check on us and made sure we're doing ok and have enough meat to eat. With tip and tax, per person will be between $30-40. We have been to the Shabuya in California so when we saw that there was a Shabuya in Oahu we had to try it out. Waitlist: The waitlist is long but it wasn't too bad as we just joined when we were back at our hotel. We checked in after we got to the mall and were called in after about 45 min of us browsing the mall. Dinner is $30 and it is AYCE with variety of meats/seafoods to choose from. We were a little disappointed that they didn't have the option for lamb though. Staff: The staff are all extremely friendly. Our waiter Soju (amusing nickname btw) was really attentive and was quick to refill our broths/drinks/get us more meats. Overall I think Shabuya Oahu was a good experience and would definitely come here again on our next trip to Oahu. read more

First time here. Food was good. Total bill was $300+. My gripe is that while I was getting my veggies, waiter spilled a glass of beer all over our seat and on my purse and my bag of newly bought merchandise. Also, I had to ask for a new cup cause the one they gave us was cracked. We had to wait for someone to come and wipe up the spill and even with that, they did a half ass job. I had to ask for towels to wipe seats and table and to wipe up my purse. We were comped for 1 adult meal only. My purse and it's wet contents cost more than $30. Will we go back. Probably not. All you can eat hot pot. Chose a broth, choose some meat and appetizers and grab your own veggies, seafood and sauces. Come hungry, you get two hours to fill your belly with whatever you can fit in it. The wait is hit or miss. No reservation, first-come-first-serve. The larger your party is the longer the wait will probably be. I had four in my party and waited for only 20 minutes. I know a few others who have had to wait over an hour. So probably best to come early for lunch or dinner or during an off peak time. Quality-wise, it's not a bad offering. They have an extensive list of broths to choose from and meats as well. The best part is they have a wagyu option to choose from. You'll end up ordering a bunch of beat though because each order of wagyu we got only came with 4 pieces. But they also had clams and shrimp at the buffet area where the veggies are to go along with the meat. Warning about the broth if you don't like spicy don't get the spicy miso, it's hotter than you think. It's not Japanese hot, it's Korean hot. For what you pay and all that you can eat, it's comparable to other high end nabeya's so it's quite a deal since you can eat as much as you want. Of course if you're not a bigger eater than you're probably better off not coming here unless you just want to try it. They have a similar look and format as Gen Korean BBQ so I'm wondering if they're the same owner. All-in-all, I gave then 4 stars because it's a place I'd come back to again. read more

The meat was ok but it's so tissue paper thin that you need to scrape the entire plate into your pot to get a decent bite. The toro and so called "wagyu" were the only palatable meats. The chuck and rib eye were tough, even tho so thin. The seafood and vegetables were ok. Honestly my favorite thing on the bar was the half brick of instant ramen.lol! The worst is the sauces. What was that goma sauce? It tasted like just kewpie mayo... so yuck. All the other sauces were blah too. I wonder if they make the sauces bad so you won't eat too much meat?!?!?. I think the best part about this place is the location. It makes me a little sad how big corporations or franchise establishments can make it in the most convenient areas but there's other places that can offer more delicious food. I've been here a few times and the first time was the best time. Every time after that was just meh. I think a place like Little Sheep/Happy Lamb or Ichiriki deserves to be in a spot like this rather than Shabuya. The broth is just meh, the meats aren't as good quality, and the service is slow for an AYCE establishment. I feel like we wait around more than actually eating if you really add up the time dining in at Shabuya. The wait is really crazy long on weekends, we've always tried this place on weekdays. Outstanding service by Eddie "Lu" and other staff, which is better than fine dining and all other restaurants from getting your table ready to bringing out the food fast and clearing empty plates. Appetizers literally were brought to our table right after the waiter inputted it in his hand-held laptop. The food was excellent and replenished regularly. Unlimited meat (they keep coming back to ask you), seafood including clams, mussels and small blue crab. The soup base I got was the spicey miso, which was a little hot and delicious. Terrible service... I found a fingernail in my food and they didn't even offer to bring me a new broth or bowl. The server was argumentative and interrupted us when we brought up concerns. His overall service was very slow and he only brought one water to our two person table. Was so excited to try this place because I love Gens and I absolutely love hot pot. You can never go wrong with a nice hot bowl of soup, especially with the current weather. Aka freezing cold! Anyways I was getting worried because five parties of 5-9 people were going in before me while I waited for my friends. No worries though cause we got seated right away at around 5:45pm. The place was packed. I reccomend going early for easier seating. Server was patient but definitely had a lot going on. Was kind enough to explain the menu about the different broths and meats. There are a lot of options for the seafood and veggie bar. Even whole baby octopus the size of my hand, cooked quail eggs, and raw chicken eggs to cook in your broth. I really enjoyed the mushrooms and noodle bar full of different noodles, including spinach noodles. We shared the meats, which was easy since the portions are small and we wanted to try every order. Plus it's all you can eat so we were able to return to the ones we liked the most. The toro and rib eye round were my favorites. 4 stars because the bar was backed up. Took over 10 minutes to get one drink. Also if you have allergies to shellfish, do not go here. There was cross contamination between the fish and the shellfish since there's only one tongs per every two items. I dont know what I was allergic to, but I had serious hives for the next two days from something I ate there. I'm sure to go back again sometime for all you can eat meat with delicious broths, though I think I'll skip the seafood side of the bar. read more

After shopping all morning we were famished. Since we were on other side of the mall we made a reservation through Yelp and was informed to be there by 1348(148pm). So we walked from Macy's to the restaurant and when we got there checked in with the hostess. As we got checked in we were seated right away. And in no time we were greeted by our server Jamela. It was our first time there but she was patient and very attentive to us. She even explained in detail about the ordering system and gave us her recommendations. We followed her recommendations and everything went so smoothly with her checking on us frequently. The food was awesome! And the beer I ordered was nice and iced cold. We enjoyed the food and service so much that we are planning to return again soon. We will definitely ask for her again. She is an excellent and extraordinary server. The first time I went, I was a cook on a scouting mission. Today, I was ready to show my culinary skills to my GF and her daughter as an ...IRON CHEF!! Shabuya is located on the Mall level of the Ala Moana Shopping Center, next to Longs. It is an all-you-can-eat shabu shabu restaurant. Lunch is $17.99 Monday thru Thursday from 10:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. After 3:00 P.M. they charge their dinner price - $27.99. Our server explained the difference between lunch and dinner. He said they add blue crab, rib-eye, skirt steak, quail eggs and enoki mushrooms for dinner. After a chicken karaage appetizer, I select a meat (pork belly) and my secret ingredient: tonkotsu broth. I was eager and anxious to begin my battle in this kitchen stadium so I asked my gf to say Allez Cuisine!! GF: "OK! If it makes you happy ...Allez Cuisine!!" I grab a tray and get one scoop mince garlic, shoyu and spicy yuzu sauce from the sauce station, and 15 clams. You have to remember that the tonkotsu broth is just an ingredient and needs to be developed. It is not to be judged for taste, until after you finish cooking. I add the minced garlic, spicy yuzu, clams and pork belly to the broth and let the soup boil. I go back to the food islands and get the rest of the ingredients: baby octopus, head on shrimp, more clams, wood ear, bok choy, soba and ramen. I also get two fresh eggs. As soon as I get back I add soba to my broth. The soba acts as a thickener to my broth. I order rice and crack one fresh egg over the rice; add shoyu and mix. Japanese call this "tamago kakei gohan". I love hot pot and have eaten here many times. Depends who you get but sometimes service is not too great. The first time we had to figure out things ourselves as our server was not very helpful. There is a large selection of veggies and noodles. Lunch on fri and the weekends and dinner includes crab and enoki mushrooms plus more selection of meats, but the lunch mon-thurs is so worth it. Not worth the $10 extra dollars for the fri, dinner, and weekends. I took off one star since I went there for lunch on a Friday and was charged the weekend price. Apparently it's only m-thurs excluding holidays where u get the cheaper price. Otherwise you will pay the dinner price which is $10 more. The broths are delicious. The spicy miso is my favorite. Some of the meats are extremely fatty but maybe that's what makes the meat melt in your mouth. Hopefully this place stays around for a while. Can not give a review of the food because we never made it in the door. In the end we decided that after a 1.5 hour wait and being told that they could seat us to just leave due to the lack of knowledge and customer service by multiple employees, as well as the typical sexism experienced from male staff. It is understandable that a this restaurant will have a longer wait time and that, and we were prepared for that. But, when we wait past the time we were told, speak to the staff who says to wait longer, and when we go to engage with the staff again and they pin the problem on us it is unacceptable. Blatantly wrong information was given about the system despite the fact that I could see the staff's iPad and it contradicts them trying to place the issue on us. Yelp does not allow me to give zero stars so I suppose I will give the minimum 1 star. read more
