Finally, a Shake Shack in Irvine!! I'm sure that's what everyone thought when it opened up at the Irvine Spectrum. It's located at the right corner of the area with the theater. Indoor and outdoor seating are available. Two kiosks are available for cashless orders if the line for the registers is too long. This is prime junk food that just hits the spot without making you feel too gross XD I feel like the meat patties are very thin, and the burgers get a little greasy, but other than that, they're tasty. Crinkle cut fries are good, and I should have gotten another order of them. Can't remember which shake I got, but it was super chocolatey and delicious and gone in minutes. The wait for food can take a while if there's a lot of people, but if you're not in a rush and can find seating, it's not a problem. It was pretty crowded when I went, so I had to hawk around after ordering for an open table. It's still a very popular and very busy place. If you come for dinner and need to make it to a show later, be sure to arrive before 6pm to beat the crowds. You can also take advantage of their mobile app and their ordering kiosks. Feel free to cut the line if you want to use the kiosks that are located off to the left. We arrived at 5:35pm and the line was just starting to go out the door. 20 minutes later we were able to order. 10 minutes after that our food arrived at our table at 6:05pm. We ate and were out of there before 6:30pm. So basically in and out within an hour. I really don't get the hype of Shake Shack. I had it in NYC, SD and here in Irvine, and it was meh every single time. It is over priced and nothing special. I don't wanna get into the In-n-Out vs. shake shack debate. But honestly, there are many other excellent burger places, and don't costs over $16 for a basic burger and fries. (* Not to mention, burgers at shake shack is mediocre at best.) First off all the buns are so small for the pricepoint ( $11); and its sort of a smashed burger but there's no distinct taste to it. While I did like the pickled Bell peppers? It's nor smokey or bbq or bacony. I mean it's good as a cheeseburger, but like compared to habit it's not much different except smashed. The separate components aren't distinct, the bun is basic and the burgers themselves are small to taste a meal. I'm also a fan of in n out though. The chicken shack, was crispy and sort of reminds me of a popeyes sandwich. It had nice crispy pickles but again was hitting the special thing that would justify the price point. I highly recommend their roadside double. Juicy and flavorful. It is one of my favorites. Service speed can vary depending on how busy it is. Shake was really tasty. Value: I feel it was reasonable at $55 or so for 4 burgers, 2 fries, a drink, and a chocolate shake. The ambiance was nice, it was spacious and clean, but the food took a bit of time. We got the double cheeseburger and bacon avocado double cheeseburger. The burgers themselves were juicy and not dry. Cheeseburgers are one of my very favorite things, but I had a heart attack a year ago so beef of any kind is a rare treat for me. My cardiologist gave me the green light to have beef every other month, which I've pretty much saved for an In & Out cheeseburger. So we have a Shake Shack in the area and of course I'm there at 10:30am on my day off to try it with baby in tow. There are already some people in line at the crack of opening but the queue rope looping outside is hinting that it gets way worse than that. In fact, when I left the line was already a deterrent. I tried the triple brownie shake, fries, and a Shack burger. The burger is 5 stars, the fries are a 1 star, and the shake is a 3 star. The burger was smaller than expected but higher quality than usual. The bun was simple and thin. The patty looked like it was probably made in house. The veggies were fresh. Fries were underseasoned and overcooked. Shake tasted fine but was too warm and thin. It took a little too long to order but once it was in the food came out quick. There are 2 self ordering kiosks but 1 was busted. I told the husband that it's a good burger place to add to the spectrum but not worth waiting in a long line for or drive out of the way. The associates were still in the training process taking huge orders and lots of customers. There was a line! Came during opening week 5.23.23 Janice held up. Repeated our orders. Had associates going around asking if everything was ok. Asked to clear anything off our table and if we were done along w needing anything else. Especially Max. He was awesome. About a little over a dozen tables inside and along w a good amount of patio seating outdoor. What we ordered ~ Chicken avocado bacon burger. Yummy & veggies were fresh. ~ Shack Burger was juicy flavorful. Highly recommended ~cheese fries were perfectly crispy goodness. Shake Shack's long awaited first location in OC! I went to check it out during opening weekend. It's in a prime spot near the movie theater at Irvine Spectrum. Of course there was a line but they did a pretty good job managing it. The restaurant is clean and bright with indoor and outdoor seating. You can order at the counter or self order at a kiosk. I never understood why people compare them to In-N-Out. Shake Shack's burgers are very different and they have a lot more options including a veggie burger and chicken sandwiches. They're also more fast casual not fast food, and the prices reflect it. The food is a bit pric for what it is but the one burger I'll splurge on that you can't get anywhere else is their Shack Stack ($12.09). It's a burger topped with a fried, cheese-filled portobello mushroom. So cheesy and so good. Speaking of cheese, the Cheese Fries ($5.09) are also a must. Their crinkle fries were perfectly crisp and you can ask for the cheese on the side so they stay crispy. The OC Dreamsicle ($6.69) is a shake flavor unique to this location and it tastes like a 50/50 bar. If you like that orange vanilla flavor but want something lighter, the Creamsicle Float ($6.19) is also really good. The servers were all very friendly and offered to bring condiments or anything we needed to our table. Overall it's a good addition to the dining options at the Spectrum. read more

Never tried shake shack before so I wanted to see the hype. I got their single smokeshack, a shroom burger, their regular fries, and an oreo shake. Their smoke shack was pretty good but it didn't have any vegetables so it was just very meaty. If it had some type of bbq sauce, it would've been very good but otherwise, I thought it wasn't that great. The shroom burger was surprisingly my favorite because I had low expectations for it. I think despite not having meat, the fried mushroom is definitely a great substitute for it. The fries were overly salty and nothing special. The oreo shake was also nothing special at all, just oreos in a shake. I paid roughly around 30 dollars. I thought this place was good and was supposed to be on par with in-n-out but sadly to say that in-n-out is MILES better than shakeshack. The wait on opening day wasn't as long as it looked (we entered near the taquito place that has yet to open, which took about 45 min to an hour. They passed out some fries samples to everyone in line. It was 2 pieces but I love free samples. I always get the ShackBurger with raw onions (they don't do grilled but have caramelized onions, but not my jam). Rarely, I will get the ShackStack or Shroom burger if I am in a real treat myself type of mood - the deep-fried mushroom filled with cheese is definitely not healthy but it's delicious. And there were little bits of chewy tendons in the burger. It was packed and a long line, but the wait wasn't that long. The line moved fast. The service is friendly. I would recommend having a person on the floor check the tables. No one was there to clean the tables. I brought my own mini Clorox wipes. The restaurant is across from Javier's restaurant. In the burger space you'll see people put up their hats for In-N-Out, 5 Guys, Habit Grill, etc all boasting their favorite chain is best in the game. I've not had a Shake Shack burger since the one in Las Vegas back whenever it first opened, so it's been roughly 5+ years, but I've been a firm believer Shake Shack is the best in the game if you're looking for quality. After coming on Shake Shacks opening weekend in the Irvine Spectrum, glad to say my memory still holds firm. Shake Shack has the best burgers of any chain I have tried, and as a SoCal native who thinks In-N-Out is overhyped, I do think people should come here with an open mind. The food at this chain is great. The meat patty is fantastic, but what really sells a Shake Shack burger for me is the BUNS. The potato buns used on a Shake Shack burger are like nothing else any chain has to offer. It's firm but bouncy, and it soaks up the burger juices for the most delightful experience. I could rave about the unique buns all day. Next up the fries, they are crinkle cut and they are fantastic. They're thinner than normal crinkle cut fries and they easily are some of the best any chain has to offer.. and take it from me, I do not like crinkle cut fries. They are crispy on the outside for that wonderful crunch you wouldn't expect. And of course it goes without saying, the shakes at Shake Shack are bomb. You would expect as much for a chain with Shake in the name, and it delivers. The operation here runs smooth too, they have 2 kiosks and a cashier counter. Orders are placed super smoothly and the line moves fast. If you're dining in and it's busy, you'll probably have more problems finding seating after ordering than waiting in line to place an order. If you love burgers, I highly recommend this chain. The East coast doesn't always do things better, but this burger chain is the best I've had yet.
