The food was not my favorite. The fries tasted great and were my favorite part! The burger was my least favorite part. It wasn't that smashed so it was still really thick and my burger was chewy and fatty. The cheese sauce was not good at all. It tasted EXACTLY like the Mac and cheese sauce from KFC. Seeing the other Yelpers' reviews was intimidating enough to try this place. I have tried it before when I was in Vegas, but it was through DoorDash, and the delivery took a while, so everything got soggy. So I decided to try it again, this time freshly made in the store. FOOD: I'm not sure if we got lucky and it wasn't extremely swamped, and that the burger we received was made just right. The patties were perfectly cooked: moist, juicy, and tender. The sauce had flavor. I got one of their specialty BBQ burgers with the fried pickles. I took a fat chance since I'm not even a big pickle person, but it did not disappoint. We also got a regular cheeseburger, and that too was made just right to our liking. The patties were medium-rare, the veggies were fresh, and the buns were rightfully buttered and soft, but not soggy. Now, for the reason I deducted a star, and the same complaints as everyone else, is the price point. It's a decent burger, but for a $10-$15 price range for a small or medium-sized burger by itself, it's steep for many people. I didn't even bother with the fries because the price point for just fries alone is relatively high. You're already at $20 for a burger and fries, not including drinks. Why would people choose this when there's an In-N-Out across the way for $10-$12, which is a complete meal? It's giving Five Guys pricing, and it's not it lol. SERVICE: We waited a little bit, but there was a line at the drive-thru. We were impressed with one worker who was the front person. Every seat was taken inside and out and there was a line of about 4 with 3 people using the kiosks. I didn't take long for a kiosk to open up so I placed my order there. It was my first time ever coming to a shake shack. we hopped in the drive thru line just for them to say that part of our order cannot be taken in the drive through. we had to then back out and go park. once inside we placed our order. also, our order was only two shakes so he sat there and waited for over 25 minutes and still nothing finally we decided to go ask and they told us our shakes have actually been done but just sitting behind the counter. Upon arriving I waited about 10 minutes at the counter being looked at by associates working the drive thru, after a solid 10 someone asked if I needed help.. While the worker grabbed my float that had half a scoop of ice cream another worker asked her to help with drive thru. Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had from a fast food restaurant. We walked into the restaurant and placed our order with the help of their employee. Surprisingly for a hamburger place there was hardly anyone inside, four people already sitting down and eating. I only had a couple issues, one was they took a considerable amount of time to prepare our very simple order. I ordered a double cheeseburger combo with no add-ons or extras. The wife ordered a single burger and a chocolate shake. The second issue I had was food pricing is top-notch. Went today, I think it was close to the first day for this new Oxnard Riverpark location. Super busy. There was one order taker at the counter, and a long line, and 3 digital kiosks that are very user friendly with intuitive buttons and nice size pictures of the food, and they free up pretty quick. No signs saying as much on the bldg, let alone on the order screens, that I noticed, but I went on their site after and they have a bunch of FREE food and shake promo codes on the Home page, to use online, their app or at the kiosk, depending on the deal. There are ALOT of them. Thanks guys for the heads up, NOT. I didn't get anything for free. The burgers looked good, the crinkle cut fries even better, all golden and crispy. But I was there to try their ice cream shakes, which aren't really ice cream, they are 'custard,' which seems to be another name for soft serve because that is what it seemed like. Shakes are $6.49 and Floats are 6.99. They didn't have an Orange Creamsicle Shake, so I got the Float thinking I would still get plenty of ice cream to try. See the pictures to see what they show in the menu compared to what I got. I basically paid 6.99 plus tax, so 7.64, for a cup of soda with a little foam on top, which barely filled the cup, having a nice gap from the top. I have never had a Float, not at Weinerschnitzel or A&W, where I didn't wish I had more soda because it is a cup of ice cream to start, with just enough soda poured over to fill the nooks and crannies. In fact, a spoon usually comes with it. And given the picture in the menu, that is what was supposed to happen here, but it didn't. It was like they added a spoonful of 'custard' to the top of a soda and it had melted into foam, while the soda below remained clear of ice cream, foam or anything but soda. It never should have made it out of the back, but not only did the person who made it seemingly think it was ok, so did the person managing them, and the person who brought it out to me didn't see an issue, so it wasn't like a one off. Hopefully as they are open longer, they'll get it together. UPDATE - I sent the pics to Shake Shack feedback and I got an email the next day with a $10 code. I used it to get a cup of vanilla and a cup of chocolate custard, because that is what I wanted to do first and foremost, try their ice cream when I got the Float. I found out it is really rich soft serve, and that is why they call it custard. The kiosk took my order and the code no problem, but failed to tell me they were out of the chocolate. Super nice young lady came out, called my name to find me and we had a delightful convo, where it was decided I would receive two cups of vanilla custard, one with chocolate sauce and no extra charge. Not sure what is in the vanilla custard, but I found it is soooo good, and the chocolate sauce is even better. The one pump was barely a splash in the cup compared to the ice cream amount, so I asked and they put 2 more servings of chocolate in the cup to make it more like the chocolate custard they were out of. Again, delightfully handled by a youthful sweet super nice employee. HR would be proud. In fact the place had a lot of these kids working and I thought, What a Boost to the Community. Anyway, anyone with kids that love chocolate sauce on vanilla, this is a must try. I could have had more than 3 servings of chocolate sauce in the cup and not been overwhelmed, it was so good. this is my first time going to shake shack, and i don't think i'll be going again! very disappointed. me, my boyfriend, brother, and little cousin went to the drive through, so i can't say much about the inside other than hearing it's pretty clean. the person speaking to me was nice and greeted us. here's the downfall: the food AND the pricing! the quality of the food is not worth the price. we paid for 4 burgers, 2 fries, and 4 shakes, and it ended up being $82 total without any tips. if the quality of the food was great, then maybe it would be worth it, but THAT much money could end up being 10 or 12 burgers somewhere else, not 4. my boyfriend got the avocado bacon burger, and he said he liked it. my brother and little cousin got the bacon cheeseburger, and i think they liked it as well. on the other hand, NEVER get any chicken sandwiches! i chose to get that and the chicken was ROCK hard. it was hard to chew despite having a tough jaw that's used to eating tough food. i was hoping the chicken was soft and tender, not hard to pull off. the condiments were also disgusting. the shack sauce tasted extremely bland, like it was 90% store-bought mayo with 10% ketchup. the honey mustard, BBQ, and ranch were also disappointing. the ranch tasted vinegary and store-bought, there was no real flavor. the shakes and fries were MID! my boyfriend got a chocolate shake and he said it was not that good. i got the banana pudding shake, worst mistake of my life, tasted more like cotton candy. since it's a limited-time only i hope thye remove if off their menu forever! it was gross! while i hate giving low reviews, this was such a disappointing place! i had a lot more expectations for Shake Shack considering i've heard how pricey it was. not worth your money AT ALL. go to in-n-out where it's fresher and costs less than half of $82. never coming back here again lol read more
