When I heard that Shake Shack was introducing a Korean Fried Chicken sandwich, I was certainly skeptical. How could a fast casual restaurant that specializes in burgers even make something remotely legit? Well I've finally tried it and while it's not the best Korean fried chicken ever, it definitely nails the flavor profile. The texture is what you would expect from Korean-Style fried chicken, extra crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. If you're interested, I'd give it a shot. My kids enjoyed their milkshakes. That's the only thing positive I can say. For a place that promises a better burger than the traditional fast food joint, it was awful. And I'm not surprised. As I watched them, they weren't cleaning the griddle and every burger had to be surgically removed with the spatula so every burger was badly overcooked and absorbed all the extra oil and food particles on the griddle. It would have been nice if someone was coming through cleaning off the tables. Premium fast food, so expect slightly higher quality food and prices. They also pride themselves on being a "non chain", so some menu items found at locations in Chicago are unique and can't be found elsewhere. For example, they partner with a lot of well known local businesses for ingredients. I also appreciate the variety of menu items since I don't eat beef. I've tried the publican pork sausage, shroom burger, and chick'n shack (with crinkle cut fries of course) and they're all solid. The burgers are oozing with cheese and it's juicy. It's not overly smokey or salty like the one in New York or Boston. I would come here over Kuma's Corner. The shakes are super thick. They don't fill it up all the way but the cup is very big. The fries are crinkled, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just how I like them. Best best best burgers! The bun is so unique and the meat is always perfect. They also have the best crinkle cut fries (get cheese on the side), really never disappoints me. Tourist pricing, the long wait for food, and bus stop seating, ensure that I won't return. The place was clean but the atmosphere was offputting -- nobody was happy to be here. My friend said his black & white shake was too thick to use a straw, and that the ratio of chocolate to vanilla was way off. Mostly vanilla. Heard that Shake Shack was offering two new limited-time menu options featuring black truffles - the black truffle burger and parmesean garlic fries with black truffle sauce. Shake Shack has always been a conundrum for me - the burgers are pretty decent in terms of flavor and freshness, but the sizes of the burgers/fries are definitely not commensurate with the cost. The double black truffle burger cost $12 and the fries $5 - so the meal after tax was ~$19, which was pretty hefty considering that I finished the burger in only a couple of bites. The black truffle sauce that came with the fries was good and was actually generous for the small amount of fries given, but the fries themselves didn't have enough garlic flavor. The burger, on the other hand, also featured the black truffle sauce, but surprisingly, the black truffle flavor didn't shine as much for the burger (probably since the other components overpowered the truffle sauce) - though the meat was cooked fine and still juicy. If the cost was just slightly lower, I would give a higher rating. If I wanted to pay higher costs, I'd instead just walk a couple of blocks further to the new Gordon Ramsay Burger restaurant to get bigger portions and better tasting food. read more

This is a very popular fast food chain. They serve burgers, hot dogs and fries. The atmosphere is super casual and friendly and can get very busy. Seating is hard to find. If you go as a group, make sure you have a couple of people go find seats so you can sit when you finish ordering, otherwise you're out of luck of no seats. Food: I had the shack-cago dog, pronounced "Chicago." Lol. I utterly wrecked the name pronouncing it the way i thought it sounded like, but boy did I sound dumb! But it was good. Drinks Okay, I love Arnold Palmers. I love that they have the "50/50" drink here because you get half of their organic iced tea combined with half of the Shack-made Lemonade. Yum! Yumm!!! I don't eat a lot of red meat, and never really crave it but after the Chicago marathon I was so ready to have a hamburger from Shake Shack! We had spotted them the day before after leaving Eataly across the street. I knew we'd need to find our way back here for lunch. I had the Smoke Shack and it was soooo good! One of the best burgers I've ever had. My boyfriend and I brought up In N Out which we have in CA and I must say I liked the Smoke Shack a lot more.
