Get in on the Shake Shack hype. On opening day, the staff thankfully had there "shake" together. Everyone was very excited and friendly. Out of the various burger joints in the West Loop, I think Shake Shack is poised to last for the long run. Located in a brand new building conveniently next to the Morgan L stop. We order the chicken sandwich, a double burger, and cheese fries. Every item was enjoyed. I actually prefer the chicken sandwich over the burger and would consider it a top fried chicken sandwich of Chicago. Especially for the price and quality. The only beef I had was the wait time for the food. We came in a bit later at night around 9pm and it was not crowded at all. The food took a bit longer than expected but again it was opening day. Nonetheless, kudos to the staff. FYI the location is not the best for parking as it is limited with the numerous restaurants in the area, space is quickly becoming a commodity. I have always gotten the burger at Shake Shack, because duhhhh shack sauce! And they're always so good, one of my favorite burgers in the city. However, I recently got the chicken sandwich and it was INCREDIBLE!!! So flavorful and crispy and moist. In the burger arena, these guys do a great job in their segment. Far better than a Five Guys and while you couldn't compare this burger to Capital Grille, you'll get a great burger at a good value. Whenever I travel to the US, I have to check out Shake Shack. This time I was able to check the one in downtown Chicago. I was relatively impressed how fast the line up was going since I usually expect a long wait. The service at this location was good and the food even better. I would, first, like to mention that this review is not to maliciously defame an establishment, but to explain how strongly I believe that ShakeShack is the cause of this unfortunate experience. To maintain the credibility of my story, I am using my real account instead of creating a fake profile to post this. I had ordered pickup through the app and ate a single shack burger and coffee shake around 6:30pm. The last time I ate anything was 10:00am that same day. I was in a rush to go to work that evening. About 2 to 2.5 hours later, something in my stomach did not want to be there and it was pushing everything out of the way to gtfo. My bowels bubbled and turned like a witch's cauldron, possessed, and ready to explode. I needed a bathroom immediately. Through out a busy Friday night shift, I had to drop everything to expel whatever was inside me. It hurt inside and out. Sitting there, as it came out forcefully in chunky liquid, the only way I can find relief was to hug my abdomen tightly to try and end this ordeal asap. It wasnt over. My intestines were angry at the fact that the only thing I chose to consume was more demonic than edible. I was in and out of the bathroom 3x before it settled. I left work with my stomach still complaining and sore. As an experienced industry, ServeSafe* Certified, employee, I can come up with a few conclusion as to how this curse had befallen me. 1. Ingredients were not stored properly or had expired. 2. Equipment used had not been cleaned properly. 3. An employee or employee who handled the food did not wash their hands or just did not follow food handling regulations. There could have been other underlying causes but, if you are worried for your health and would like to avoid this same fate, dont risk eating at this location. I would give this place five poop emojis *ServSafe is a required certification for any service foodhandler to possess before they can be employed in the food and service industry. It is an intensive course with exams that must be passed before certification is awarded. read more

Shake Shack is definitely amongst my favorite places to grab a burger. I know that the burgers may be a bit overpriced and a bit small, but the quality is great! The potato bun is warmed and toasted to perfection. I like the West Loop location the best since it's less busy and the most seating. Also, the el stop is literally right there which is always convenient. I normally get the double stack, but I started getting two single burgers because I believe the taste is better proportioned when there's only one patty. The fries are almost always perfectly fried and although the cheese is different than your typical cheese fries, it's won my heart. It's a tad creamier than your typical cheese. Great Food, but HORRIFIC To Go Service. Put my $30 to go order in (pricey for 2 x burgers + 1 x fries), and they processed it as a dine-in order - without boxes. When I reminded the line prep person that my order was To Go (printed To Go on the ticket), he laughed about it, and just put the 2 x burgers in a paper bag - uncovered, along with the fries. Am I supposed to just carry this out uncovered so my food can get dirty? I had to ask the cashier for To Go containers, which the cashier just gave to me - without even offering to have it repackaged. Food is always good here. I prefer the Chicken sandwich over the burger. It's extremely tender and juicy and one of the few chicken sandwiches I've had in a fast food joint that needs little to no sauce whatsoever. The cheese fries are always a hit. The service is friendly and the establishment is well kept throughout the day. Well thought out concept fast food spot that sometimes makes you forget how inexpensive it is really worth every penny. I for the longest time was one of those people who had never been to Shake Shack, I heard people hype it up and talk about it often as if it was the best burger in the world. Not to mention I used to pass b their Michigan Ave. location all the time on my way home from work when I was working in the Loop. One Sunday afternoon last spring my family and I had a family day and went to the escape room downtown on Michigan. Afterwards we decided to grab a bite to eat at Shake Shack which I was excited about since I had never been but was eager to try. The lines are very long but they move quickly, I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger with fries and a large raspberry ginger lemonade. The food is very pricey and everything is a la carte. For me & my wife's meals the total came out to almost 50 bucks. For that amount of money I said to myself the food better be good. I wasn't disappointed. The burger was really good, It was a good size and it was filing (Definitely a top 10, maybe even a top 5 burger in my opinion). The fries were your standard crinkle cut fries, no seasoning but they were good, but the raspberry ginger lemonade; was what I enjoyed the most. That has to be the best lemonade I've ever tasted. I wish I had the recipe. So why only 3 stars if I enjoyed the food; while the food was good, it was very pricey and recently I've been hearing numerous complain and talk about the cleanliness of the establishment and the way the food is prepared (several of whom are employees or former employees of the establishment) this is the reason this review has 3 stars and why I'm skeptical to go back to Shake Shack. I'll let the negative feedback die down a little bit before I visit their establishment again to determine if my 3 star rating is justified, or if I need to increase or decrease the rating. Maybe it was just that location. When I decide to go back to Shake Shack maybe I'll visit the location on Ontario if I'm in the Loop or maybe one day during lunch, I'll visit the location on Clark up North which is around the area I work in. Pretty good burger. I've been meaning to try this spot out for years but never got around to it. Finally tried it out and it was worth the wait. Got a double cheeseburger and fries. Okay, I've tried the famed burgers from both the west coast (in and out burger) and the east coast (shake shack) and the winner is shake shake! Actual taste of the burger is so good! From the soft buttery bun, grilled full flavored hamburger, and just the right touch of accompaniments this burger wins against any other! 1st bite is delicious! They also have a few other items on the menu like fries and chicken tenders/nuggets if you're not in a burger mood. I also absolutely rave about they're shakes!! I recently tried their pumpkin shake - delicious! This west loop SS is in a great location under the El and in the heart of the west loop with just steps from Fulton market street! Service here is on point, food comes out fast and with the correct order. This space is clean too and they serve craft beers. I will say that the burgers are delicious however Shake Shack has the SS Big Bun syndrome. I was semi-hungry and had a double Shake Shack burger and was not quite full. Mind you I am not that big at about 5'7" and 160 lbs. The two patties were small and hidden by the protective bun and toppings. After the meat was finished, I still had a decent amount of bun left. That sandwich and a drink will cost you about $12 which I find pricey for not getting me full. Kind of like a superior version of McDonald's, every thing tastes fresher and better, along with the customer service. They're always so pleasant even when it gets super crowded ( which is often ) I love their chicken sandwiches as well as their shakes and cheese fries!! Everything on the menu tastes good even the hot dogs ( which was weird for me to be in the menu but overall was tasteful ) I've had their burgers before and a couple other things on the menu but my go to meal is a chicken sandwich with cheese fries and I'll be set. The chicken tastes so fresh and tasty. I think I like it better than chick-fil-a which is surprising because I go to chick-fil-a a lot but mainly for their tenders. Although it is tasty it is quite expensive or more expensive than one would think so beware. I'm not sure if it's worth that much but I always end up enjoying it so I'm not stressing. I don't mind spending a premium if I'm getting a premium in return, but the whole time I was eating my burger and looking at it, I realized that it looked exactly like a steak and shake burger... A good presentation on the outside, but about an 8th of an inch thick piece of beef on the inside... Seemed like it got scraped off the girdle from the leftovers of the other burgers cooking, Looked more like a meat crepe.
