The service is also great, the employees here are so helpful and friendly. They also have an arcade area with amazing prizes for the kids. The worst service I've ever experienced, and I deal with detached Asian servers. The cashiers and waiters here were annoyingly incompetent. Benefit of the doubt? There was a fundraiser and 99 cent Mojos "madness." The place wasn't packed but I guess these two situations were just too overwhelming. My cousin and I got two Mojos, a drink, and a salad. We decided to return the drink because our other friend already bought one for us. The cashiers were too lazy to do the transaction and suggested to replace the drink with 2/3 order of Mojos. Uh...what kind of fair trade is that? A drink is $2.25. A plate of Mojos in March is 99cents. Obviously math isn't their forte. Things got settled and we were waiting for them to bring out the food. They bring out one plate of Mojos and INSISTED that our order was done. OH NO MY FRIEND. He asked for our receipts (my cousin and mine along with our friends) to prove that our orders were closed. Surprise Surprise...no they weren't. The salad bar consisted of: Wilted lettuce from a bag, broccoli, thin sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, beets, carrots, canned peaches, "ambrosia," 4 dressings (2 were ranch), croutons, raisins, and bacon bits. There were 2-3 other items but obviously the bar is leaves something to be desired. The place is filled with wannabe hipsters and wangsters who think they're so cool because they're drinking a pint of Heineken. The bathroom looks nice but reeks of recent bowl movements. 1st visit to this particular branch and was pleasantly surprised as it looks really nice, very clean and the staff members were all nice as well as friendly. I planned to order the Pizza & Wings meal that comes with a small size 1 topping & 6 pieces of wings for $13.99. However the lady in the register kindly suggested that I would save more $$ if I ordered them separately as they have the happy hour going on. The small pizza would cost only $4.99 for 1 topping. I really appreciated that as some establishment don't really care to mention or suggest now a days. So I ended up saving $1.50 which may not be much but is still is something I'm happy with since I can use that amount to get soda else where. The promised time for take out was 15 minutes and they delivered timely, took only 10-12 min. The food were arranged nicely as if they took time in placing the toppings on my pizza (I got an extra topping - extra charge) and the chicken & mojo were placed neatly in the box. The staff that handed me my order also did not rush me out, she actually took time to repeat what I ordered, then asked me if there's any condiments I would like. Wow! I can't believe it I paid $8 service fee that goes to the owner on top of paying door dash a fee for the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. I received what I ordered and the pizza and chicken were up to par, BUT the mojos were hard, dry, over-cooked and HOLLOW!! The mojos I remember eating before were soft and you could tell they were fresh. These were definitely not fresh. Today being Sunday, i woke up late at 6am preparing myself emotionally and physically for my 7am date with Joy Reid on MSNBC and her bend on the current state of the USA and the world. It was a normal morning of phone calls (yes i use my cell to actually speak to people, not just text) and assorted stuff. Then all hell broke loose. My niece and her 3 children arrived on their way home from the San Diego Zoo in need of bathroom privileges and asking for food as all were hungry. Very hungry. So where to go? Then i remembered that there was a well reviewed Shakey's on south Glendale Ave. Perfect! So though i never imagined that i would spend time at Shakey's today or any day, there i was among families, policemen, seniors and lost souls who appeared to be slightly off kilter and party folks just coming in from a night of rebel rousing. Surprisingly ( and it was probably only a surprise to me as all others appeared to be regulars) the food in general and the food on the buffet specifically was tasty, fresh and well prepared. Mojo potatoes, Fried Chicken? Yup, they were here in abundance and reeking of freshness and Shakey-liciousness. The kids like Pizza but the 2 oldest are as different as night and day in their preferences with the girl leaning towards the bizarre (for a 3 year old at least) toppings (jalapenos, mushrooms and black olives) while the boy leaning more towards the sleek and sophisticated (cheese only) toppings. The baby will put anything in his mouth though he only has 2 teeth so it has to be soft and easily digestible. For the rest of us the Pizza was good. Surprisingly good. Crust was crisp and al dente and a little oily like it had been swabbed with olive oil. Good stuff. The fried chicken was a bit oily but fresh and the skin was crisp and seasoned well. Mojos were likewise tasty and crisp. While we adults were chatting and drinking IPA's, the kids were running wild along with several other kids. Why is it that all children need to shriek at the top of their lungs in the most obnoxiously high tone in order to have fun? No one paid any mind to the noise, though. It was expected and acceptable here. It had been many years since i had darkened the doors of a Shakeys but i have to admit the whole experience was fun. And the kids had a blast. Kudos to the manager Juan and Maria (at the register) who kept the place running smooth, the food fresh and refilled quickly: with their volume, this place must be difficult to keep running on an even keel. read more

Their spaghetti tasted like cafeteria spaghetti and one of the fried chicken they served was undercooked. Mojos and pizza we're just right. The service is okay, the cashier was nice enough to explain the menu. There was quite a number of people when I came around 9 pm, there were mostly family with kids because there's a small arcade within the restaurant. Parking is spacious and convenient. Restrooms were stocked and clean. The beer cost me $6-7. The music was terrible. I believe it's supposed to match the Shakey's theme but there's better oldies music that they can play. Anyway 3.5 stars for the experience and I don't think I'll be a usual customer here. read more

I had a great time , reverting back to my childhood. I want 103 tickets and brought myself a few toys. They offer a buffet bar with pizza and pasta. Salad bar also included with drink . Nice and clean. Great service and the manager was very helpful. One of a handful left in LA. Their signature is the Mojo Potatoes. I gotta admit, their Chicken Wings were super TASTY but It was also SUPER FRIED., and at general environment had a fried oily smell that didn't sit to well with me. today as many of our afternoons we decided to go to shakeys Glendale .. by popular demand from the 4 kiddies and my wife .. mojos , pizzas , chicken , soda , games , tv's , good music are just a few of the reasons the family enjoys this place . I'm huge on customer service & let me tell you I want to recognize Mr. Juan who I believe is the manager has always provided impeccable customer service throughout the years we've been coming here . I see his interactions with other customers and it's always a first class service ..he has assisted me with celebrating 2 or 3 birthdays here throughout the years making for great birthdays & memories. Juan never fails to greet me and my family and put on a cheerful smile. there's been times where it's super busy but Mr. Juan always has the service on it's A game . food comes out quick and always delicious . service like this is rare these days . I will continue to return for the great shakeys pizzza but most of all for the first class service that Juan and his dedicated staff provide !! I went to this establishment on the billboard it says $19.49 for mojos but when we arrived according to the server we went there he said it's old advertisement I was not happy because if it is an old advertisement I call that false advertisement. October 27, 2020 7:00 P.M. we went back there at shakeys Glendale when we we're sitting at patio I noticed we need a hand wipe because before we eat we need to wipe our hand according to the cashier they don't give away hand wipe isn't that health department encourages everyone to wash their hands when you eat chicken you hold the chicken including pizza or mojos. I tried this place because they give away a free pizza buffet for your birthday, with the purchase of a drink. I'm glad I tried it for free, because I would never go back if I actually had to pay $8.99 for it. The pizza is fine, but only fine, nothing special, not much variety of flavors, and the other items like mash potatoes and pasta looked too disappointing to even try. Their salad bar was very basic too. I will say that their Mojo Potatoes (chip shaped fries) were actually pretty good. The food on its own would get this a 3 star rating, but combined with the dirtiness of the restaurant, it gets a low 2 stars. I know it isn't just this location either, because I've asked my friends who've been to other locations, and the lack of cleanliness seems like a consistent feature of this chain. I'm unlikely to even go back next year for my free birthday meal. read more
