I stopped by Shakey's for lunch not too long ago. This is usually one of my favorite places to go for a pizza lunch whenever somebody suggests it. Their Bunch of Lunch deal consists of their salad bar, awesome pizza selections, and a bunch of different side such as mojo potatoes, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and a lot of other things. The salad at the salad bar is decent at times but I know in the past sometimes it was kind of iffy but usually it's fine. Use your best judgement. There's a lot of elaborate toppings and vegetables. Then around the corner there's a lot of different pizzas usually they have a good four or five different types of pizza that they've made. And they also have garlic bread, spaghetti, and spaghetti sauce. I usually seek out the mojo potatoes and fried chicken. They usually are pretty consistent and do a great job with those signature dishes. Beverages are not included and neither are desserts. They do have cinnamon bread sticks though. There is a fairly large lot around the building but it's also narrow at some points where it can be hit or miss. read more

Love pizza and usually a big fan of shakeys. This was one I have not been to but was incredibly disappointing. Pizza was doughy and undercooked, cheese was stringy and clumped, very little sauce and no sauce in some areas, and for the cherry on top the way it was cut was done with absolutely no care. 02/02/2023 Stopped by Shakey's today for Bunch-A-Lunch. I love this location it's my choice. My friends prefer the Monterey Park location. I'm not a big mojo's eater, but according to my friends they make the mojo's different here. To me mojo's are mojo's I can't taste the difference. The San Gabriel location has a bigger salad bar than Monterey Park more choices equals more satisfaction. They usually have at least 4-6 different kinds of pizza on hand. My favorites are the Veggie pizza and the Jalapeno/sausage/pepperoni pizza. I like the roasted chicken vs the fried chicken, and sometimes a few mojo's. Be careful of the spaghetti, mashed potatoes and mojo potatoes if you're diabetic, a quick rise in glucose level can be deadly=Dead Kenny just kidding but seriously watch your potions. A big plus for me is they have Diet Pepsi, really dislike Diet Coke squeeze a few lemons into the drink and I'm all set. read more

I haven't been to Shakey's in 10 years, so my return back was definitely amazing! I can't believe I haven't came back in so long but let's get to what I got. The pepperoni pizza was delicious the crust was my favorite! It was crunchy and tasty. The inside was fluffy and it was probably one of the best crusts I've had. The sauce and the cheese was good too. You can never go wrong with mojos they were flavorful and crunchy of course. On Sunday Apr.13th we visited this location around 12:30 and I would like to say that it exceeded my expectations by far. The service was excellent. We were well taken care of. Our table was never dirty. Plates were always taken away immediately. Thank you Suzanna and thank you to the manager that helped me (with the blue shirt. I loovveee this shakey's location in San Gabriel, I honestly prefer it to other locations due to the quality, fast service, and amazing staff & environment. Their pizza, chicken & mojos is a classic I always go for, always super tasty and you can tell it's fresh and just came out of the oven which I love!!! Came in around 10 PM, just an hour before closing, and we were pleasantly surprised by how welcoming and kind the staff were despite the late hour. We were a bit hesitant, thinking the food might be rushed so close to closing time,but that was definitely not the case. The pizza was absolutely on point! Hot, fresh, and honestly, the butteriness in the crust was the best I've ever had at a Shakey's. You could tell they still put care into the food, even at the end of the night. Favorite pizza place from my childhood. The last time I was here was 32+ years ago. The Shakey's chain broke up years ago and many didn't stay true to the original recipes. Word on the street is that this one did. First off, the exterior paint and overall size of the building is different and larger. The sign outside is similar in shape but different overall. The interior has the kitchen in the same space, but the dark lighting and heavy wood tables are absent. Bunch 'o lunch was about to end, so we skipped that and ordered a half pepperoni and sausage and half pepperoni, mushroom, and olive pizza. It was cool to see the same setup for the bunch 'o lunch (all you can eat). The seating area had more light and more pizza parlor-ish tables. The main event was the thin crust pizza. It was 100% the same as back in the day! Now a nitpick - slipped lots of bits of mushrooms onto the non- mushroom side - not cool. The staff were friendly and helpful. I wish the seating was like the original and need more attentiveness when putting toppings on the pizza. Overall a 4.4. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE!! ZERO stars-So sad!! Haven't been there in years. A party of 10 for nostalgic reasons. Couldn't even get a picture of WATER because pictures are only for beer. We ordered beer and the server was upset that we ordered beer and cussed at us in Spanish underneath his breath. He didn't know we were also Hispanic and understood what he said. The whole staff was incompetent and upset that we were even there ordering food. Will be contacting corporate immediately this is unacceptable. It was extremely packed but the staff did an outstanding job doing their best to make sure food was constantly coming out and most importantly everything was clean. We went here to celebrate my nephews "graduation" and it was packed the entire time we were there. We got there at 6:30 and a half had dirty plates from previous parties. My first thought was.... Wow shakeys still has tons of customers! It wasn't until later that I realized they had happy hour that ended at 6.... Anyways, food took 30+ minutes, but it came out fresh and the chicken was crunchy and not dry. The arcade area was a disappointment cause half of the machines were eating tokens and/or out of tickets. We saw the guy add 4 machines with tickets while we were there. The prizes, eh you can imagine the prizes. Later, a whole softball team came in! So now it was super hectic in there! That said, I appreciate the staff that was working there. I haven't had Shakey's for quite some time. It's a nostalgic food for me and reminds me of when I was back in middle and high school. Thoughts of the fried chicken and mojo potatoes got to me and went to have the bunch of lunch today. Bunch of lunch is from 11am-2pm and cost $11.49 M-F. Pros - clean and spacious establishment - fried chicken are as bomb as I remember them. I like how the chicken doesn't have thick breading, we'll seasoned, can tell from the golden color that it is fresh oil that it is being fried in, and oh so juicy! - mojo potatoes are good as well. Thinly cut. If you like baked potato or thick cut fries with lots of soft potato in the middle, you probably won't like this. Cons - tried mash potato with gravy, baked chicken, and pizzas and it was just okay. After sampling the other stuff, i just focused and honed in on fried chicken. read more
