Came here on a Saturday night with some family and had a great experience here! So to start, the parking here is a little confusing: you can park on the street and there's a (very) small parking lot in back of the restaurant, but there are parking lots next door and across the street from the restaurant that you can park in as well. Once I figured out the parking though, the rest of the evening was truly wonderful. The inside was nice, tidy, and festive for the Christmas holiday season. The place filled up pretty quick when we arrived but it never seemed too loud in there, which was nice. We had made reservations earlier in the day so we didn't have to wait for a table when we arrived. Our waitress was excellent in describing the menu and the chef specials for the evening. I decided to go with a chef special: a wild-caught grouper filet over a bed of zucchini noodles with a side salad and some warm bread with an assortment of butter and oil to spread. I got the house dressing, which was maple vinaigrette, truly fantastic. This was the first time I had ever had grouper and I truly enjoyed the dish! It was cooked to perfection and was easy enough to break apart with a fork. Our table had also ordered the pecan chicken and a 12 oz. pork chop (which looked great and tasted great, from what I was told). To finish our meal, we all shared a piece of peppermint cheesecake. Where to begin??? The food here is pretty good. I had onion rings as an appetizer and they were really homemade and crumbly(just how I like them.) I also had a little bit of the French onion soup. I must say this is one of the better French onion soups in the Western NY area. For dinner I had the pecan crusted chicken. It was good but my chicken could've been a little bit thinner. You get two of them and a order of garlic mashed potatoes. Let me tell you those really hit the spot! Another thing I want to mention, they don't carry coke or Pepsi products. We have lived in LP all our lives and finally decided to come here, always been one of the places we wanted to try but for some reason just never got around to it. But finally we went, and I can't tell you how happy I am we did. Everything was 5 stars from the service and especially to the food. A nice quiet homey/romantic vibe. Food was delicious and a lot of it I had the pot roast it was tender and full of flavor we met another couple there for dinner on January 25th it was snowy outside but the entrance to the restaurant was clear. The waitress was very attentive and helpful. My husband had a steak which was great too we all had appetizers, and drinks the price of our meal I don't know because our friends bought us dinner but it had been quite a few years since we had been there. Upon entering the quaint town of Lockport, we decided to have a spur of the moment dinner. Given the current Covid restrictions and often need for reservations, we were pleasantly surprised. The hostess whom took our call was delightful and eager to meet our needs. She said if we could wait about 20 minutes she most certainly would take care of our dining needs. As we arrived we noticed beautifully decorated outdoor dining with very romantic lighting. The entrance is welcoming and handicap accessible with a delightful ambiance. The food was spectacular. Mouthwatering and tender morsels of heaven. Our waitress was right on the ball. We enjoyed our appetizer, and prompting received delivery of our main entrees. Our water glasses were kept full, and wine/beer never more than half empty before she offered to bring another. We will definitely be back again and again. I was with a small group of friends who needed a last-minute reservation for dinner (during the middle of phase 2) - our original plans fell through. We called up Shamus and they were able to accommodate us. They have a decent-sized patio with adequate seating. The tables all had umbrellas, which was convenient since it was 85 degrees out and sunny (not super comfortable, but we weren't allowed to eat inside). Our waitress was very kind - I felt bad that she had to wear a face mask in the summer heat. They have a decent drink menu - I had a glass of a delicious Cabernet. For my meal, I enjoyed a DELICIOUS cheeseburger with pickles and onions. It was cooked exactly how I wanted it. The fries were also a treat. We were all happy with our meals and pleasantly surprised! I just love the Shamus. It's warm and cozy, and you can spend an evening sitting at the bar, having a glass of something fabulous and eating some of the complimentary snack mix. The staff is friendly and inviting. I recently dined here and had a few little appetizer-sized nibbles - the crabmeat-stuffed mushrooms and the sea scallops with caramelized onion, along with some yum bruschetta that was not on the menu, but made especially for us. We went here for my birthday last month and everything that we had was fantastic. I ordered the Alaskan King Crab Risotto, my step father had the Saturday Prime Rib, and my mother tried the Buttermilk Fried Chicken, which was a special. I loved my dinner but I was pretty blown away when I tried my mother's fried chicken. I guess I wasn't expecting to be that impressed with fried chicken. I really loved the cocktail that I had as well, the Berry Basil Lemonade. I want to try to replicate that at home. For dessert, we all shared a giant piece of peanut butter ice cream pie. It too was a special, and delicious. The service was spectacular as well. Everything was on point and we had a really enjoyable time. I love the atmosphere here, very cozy, home-like feel. AMAZING restaurant!!!!! A must try for sure!! I was so happy I finally tried Shamus for my birthday. It was my first time eating out since the pandemic with my family and it was so worth it. Everything I chose exceeded my expectations & I can't wait to go back! We started with a white wine from a local Niagara winery that the waitress suggested and we all loved it. For appetizers we shared the scallops, the big meatball, and the potato pancakes (which were crispy & perfect ). For dinner I had the center cut strip steak with the blue crumble/fried onion add on and a lobster tail. It was phenomenal and so filling, I could only take a few bites lol. My son had the honey fried chicken which was served with 2 sides (mac n cheese & onion rings) and a biscuit. He absolutely loved it! The portions are very generous. My father ordered fish and chips. They gave him 3 large crispy juicy pieces of fish & coleslaw. My mom ordered salmon and lobster with rice and there was, again, so much food she could only take a few bites. We made sure not to stuff ourselves because we wanted to try the awesome desserts. My mom and I shared the creme brulee and it was so creamy and satisfying, my dad tried the carrot cake (his favorite), and my son took home a slice of peanut butter pie which he enjoyed later. All of the staff is so delightful and friendly too which made my birthday night and experience extra special and even better! Loved this place! Can't wait to go back. We were seated upstairs- it was nice because it was secluded and there was only 2 other couples up there. I got a moscow mule- super good and refreshing- best one Ive had (actually the first one I've had lol) Jake got a bourbon apple cider drink which was very good as well. For an appetizer I got the crab stuffed mushrooms..and O M G they were AMAZING. The best I've had. seriously- HIGHLY suggest getting them. I got the ravioli special which came with tomato, shrimp, arugula and some sauce- super good. Jake got the pecan crusted salmon which was very good as well. We got a chocolate chip cookie cheesecake for dessert and that was amazing as- I don't know if it was homemade or not. Cons- I wanted to replace my salad with a soup- and you know most restaurants charge like a $2 up charge for certain ones- I wanted the lobster bisque, and they wouldn't let "substitute". If I wanted lobster bisque instead of salad I had to pay the whole price of the soup which was kinda stupid and unnecessary. The only soup I was allowed to substitute was the soup of the day -new England clam chowder. Why can they be normal and charge an additional $2 or 3$ ? This was our first time dining at the shamus. We arrived 7:15 on a Friday night. I noticed right away how busy it was- not an empty table in sight with everyone in the joint enjoying themselves in conversation and food. The host promptly greeted us, asking if we had made reservations. She said the wait would be about 20 mins. No biggy for a Friday night, so we made ourselves comfortable at the bar while waiting. The bar was clean, with a cozy feel just like the rest of the place. We were greeted by the bartender who happily took our drink order. Just a water for me as I'm not generally a drinker. My date went through 2 Canadian clubs, neat (just whiskey in a glass with no ice) total for the two drinks: $12.50. Pretty fair if you ask me. The bartender politely informed us when our table was ready, was just under 20 mins. We were directed by the host and sat at our table. A small but spacious 2 top. Very clean, and presentable place setting. Cloth napkin, and a tea lite candle for added ambience. Loved it. The lighting was perfect and so was the font size on the menu. No squinting or extra light needed. Our waitress greeted us with a warm smile. She had her hair pulled back, and overall appearance was clean. She spoke in a very friendly voice that was loud enough to clearly hear over the restaurant chatter. Knew her specials without having to read off of anything. Now onto the food.. We started with the stuffed mushrooms. If I could rename this appetizer, I would call it 4 mini crab cakes stuffed in baby Bella mushrooms.They were plated nicely with this beautiful creamy sauce..I loved that there was enough to really get all over the mushroom. The flavor was good, and you could really pick up on the fresh chives in every other bite. The textures of this dish were dead on- crisp tops of the crab cakes..I mean "stuffing". Mushrooms were soft..cooked just the way they should be. Next up, soups. I had the lobster bisque. I had very high hopes, as I've heard from several people that they are known for it. I wasn't too impressed. The sherry taste was slightly overwhelming and seemed to cloud the other flavor notes that are in a good bisque. There wasn't enough lobster meat..i didn't get one solid lump in it. All very teeny tiny shreds. And there was something funny about the texture. I couldn't really figure it out, but it reminded me of when a chef puts the soup in the window, and it sits too long and creates a film on top. I assure you this was not the case as the cup itself would've been piping hot. Perhaps it was the last of it or from the bottom of the pan? Just strange and well, randomly clumpy. My date had a cup of the clam chowder. I tried some. It had a good body with lots of nice potato chunks, but was lacking some flavor. Date loved it though and made it disappear. We didn't have any dinner salads, however, while we were waiting for our main dishes to come out, we could see dinner salads at other tables and they looked like a good size. Dinner rolls were brought out with soup, and served with whipped butter. The rolls were nice and warm- tasted fresh from the oven. Had a fluffy body with a nice soft center. I ordered a chicken dish off the regular menu. It was an apple walnut Brie chicken..may not be the exact name, but the gist of what the entree had going on. Plating once again was beautiful. Taste on the chicken, not so much. The walnuts tasted burnt, and personally, I would've cooked the chicken a bit longer..it was fully cooked, but a little too juicy/ soft for me. My baked potato was cooked perfect. Vegetable of the night was a squash..a little too much pepper, but had a good buttery taste. My date ordered a 12 oz. strip steak off of the specials board and let me tell you, he won the lottery with that dish..omg. That steak was perfect. It was topped off with this nice melted piece of bleu cheese and had sautéed arugula and onions on the side. He ordered his steak medium rare, and that's exactly what he got. Biting into that steak, I new it was a good quality piece of meat (we're beef farmers..we're kinda experts in this department. He was even on a meat judging team.) The flavors of that beef with that bleu cheese and the sautéed veggies were a poetic masterpiece complementing one another in such a beautiful way..I'm full, and still thinking about that steak..what else is there to say but bravo to the chef on that one. On to dessert.. even if you have no room left. Just look at the dessert tray, because it is a beautiful sight. I went with something that looked like a cherry almond tart had a baby with a slice of cheesecake. Delicious. It had a cherry pie filling top, a creamy but firm almond inside, and a nice flakey crust. Beautiful outside patio near the court house. Doing great job with Covid precautions. The inside looked very welcoming. However, the food!! My husband, a picky eater, ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with an optional Korean sauce. When it arrived he said"Holy Sh$& this is good!! It was a huge order of 5 pieces. Came with homemade mashed potatoes, biscuit, and macaroni and cheese. Leftover for tonight. I had the lobster bisque that was loaded with lobster and delicious, followed by Beef on Weck with outstanding home made fries. The service was exceptional. Highly recommend. read more

We both had the Saturday special of Prime Rib ( only on Saturdays ) It was fabulous!!! The squash was divine! Our waitress Courtney A was super, very tentative and pleasant. We say the people that work at a establishment can make or break you-- well she made our visit very nice. The peanutbutter pie was soooo good! I stopped in this little town called Lockport for some lunch and stumbled upon this interesting looking place. Clearly the stars of the show are the fish and chips and the corn beef Ruben. Both are fabulous and can't miss. And substituted a side for some Cole slaw. They make some very nice Cole slaw. Now the service was a little slow as it did take a little long to get the food but I am willing to overlook that because the food was good and reasonably priced in a restaurant that was a former boarding house. This goes to show that you can have a nice meal for not a lot of money in a nice setting. Just for that alone I am giving this place 5 stars. read more
