My fiancé bought my beautiful engagement ring at Shane Co. Cupertino back in February and I couldn't be any happier with it! I didn't see his proposal coming so he totally surprised me! I also had no clue he was already ring shopping lol. I'm not a jewelry kind of girl and I had no clue what kind of ring or style I wanted and he nailed it! I'm so in love with my ring hehe but I'm still not into jewelry LOL. I'm sure we've all heard the Shane Co. commercial on the radio or TV and thought it was super gimmicky and funny. You really can't unhear it and remember it word for word after hearing it so many times lol. But as cheesy as it sounds, their customer service and lifetime warranty is just top notch and hard to beat! My fiancé didn't know my ring size, heck neither did I lol, so when he bought the ring, it was too big on me. The standard size is 6 and since the lifetime warranty includes free resizing, we got it resized down. It took about a week to get it done. When we went to get that done, it was my first time visiting the old location and I had a pleasant experience! It was also a pleasant experience when I went to pick it up after resizing. The lifetime warranty also includes free cleaning and polishing (recommended every 6 months). It's been more than 6 months so I decided to stop by yesterday to get it cleaned. They also relocated to a newer location about 2 months ago and I gotta say this location is so much better than the old one! I've also been wanting to get new everyday wear earrings since the ones I had were like 3 years old. I kinda also wanted something to match my ring hehe so I figured why not check some out and see if I like anything. Monica was very helpful in helping me find the right earrings. Within 1 year the value of my 14k Cuban link bracelet dropped from $2800 (what I paid for) to $450 which is what they were willing to buy back it back for. This is, to put it plainly, robbery. When I tried to sell it back the lady at the front was very indifferent and was cold about the whole situation. Her short explanation was that $450 is just the melt down value of it which is what they would be willing to pay for it. What this means is $2350 is mark up, "labor", and their highly valued warranty. If you are looking a fast way to burn cash, come to Shane Co because they'll incinerate it. They are definitely NOT your friend in the Jewelry business like they've been chanting over the radio waves for all these years. This business is laughable and the crooks behind the counter don't even have the decency and customer service etiquette to be friendly while they steal your money. Let's start off by saying this review is just my straight opinion and is based off my personal experience. So we arrived about 12:30 on a Sunday and to our surprise the store was extremely busy which is always a good sign. After checking in we waited for about 45 min then we were seen by Gloria L. She was very nice and was very helpful until another couple came in and she seemed to put her attention on them. She left us about 3 times in the middle of our search to help them. After about 20 min of this back and fourth she handed us off to Kim N which was the best thing that happens to us. Kim focused on us 100 percent and took the time to get us what we wanted and explained everything to us just perfectly. After all was said and done we were extremely happy with our purchase and with the service Kim provided. Overall it was great. Now here are a few things that I would expect from a company like Shane CO especially after hearing the commercials with the emphasis on customer service. O and before I forget the place is beautiful inside and all the staff is extremely courteous. As a sales manager and a sales group class instructor here are a few things I think Shane CO should look into changing If the sales person does have to leave you to handle another customer for whatever reason it should be clearly communicated to the current customer as communication is the key to understanding and makes the customer feel acknowledged. Presentation of the jewelry upon pick up. They have presentation boxes in the showcase so we were thinking that's what we would get but when we picked it up the ring was in a zip lock plastic bag and was just dumped out onto my wife's hand. Then they asked would you like a box? They should present the piece of jewelry in the box regardless of the cost or the piece, presentation is everything and people are excited about what was picked out and it should be an experience especially for the first time you will see it. The black presentation box would have been nice. Lastly is the end experience you should get, it was almost as if they made the sale so let's get them finished and out of here. The experience should be the same from start to finish, yes they are not paid commission but they take that extra time to make the sale so take the extra time to backup the sale. Never were we given instructions on care nor dos and don't s. The exit should be a great presentation followed by a conversation about maintenance and lastly allow any questions one might have. I also think when you have sold a wedding ring to a woman who you know will have to take it off time to time a cheap ring holder would be a nice little touch. 1/30/21 - Tried to schedule appointments online and over phone but they were booked months out. Recommended to come in right when they open. We did as instructed, with covid they only let a certain number of people in the store for safety which was nice. Temperature checks and masks required. Store was clean and I felt just fine in there. Kim nguyen was our sales associate, and she was phenomenal! The entire process for my fiance and I took over 3 hours, and Kim was top tier the whole time. She listened to my fiance requests and preferences and narrowed down our choice to the ring and bands we ended up purchasing. After we got the setting she continued her top tier customer service and let us look at diamonds in the setting until we found one we liked. This particular location of Shane & Co. is actually so annoying. Like love the company and their policy but this location is sooooo annoying when you actually have the ring. For example, let's say you want to come by and just drop off your ring for a cleaning which with other jewelers takes place pretty fast. They still make you wait in their hour long lines to just do a DROP OFF. It's super inefficient and also just plain dumb. Other locations don't do this at all it's just how this particular office is set up and unfortunately it's the closest one to me. We had to think between this ring and one we found at Tiffany & Co, and we needed some time to think about it. They told us that we could change our mind and get our deposit back at any time. And they were right. We ended up getting a ring at Tiffany and came back to Shane to cancel the layaway and we were able to do it with no problem. tl;dr - warm/welcoming staff, but dropped the ball on my engagement ring. At first I was really happy with Shane Co., as employees were very kind and enthusiastic about helping my fiancé and I create our dream (one of a kind) ring. They were creative in planning, and responsive to emails throughout the decision making. They were also extremely generous in showing me a ton of stones/diamonds, even having special ones shipped between stores so that I could find the perfect ones. I'm really grateful for this and feel that they went to every length to help me. I placed a custom order and was told it would arrive in 8-10 weeks. After 10 weeks I gave them a call - only to find out that despite payment, the order had never been placed.. and so after nearly 3 months, they said I would have to wait another 3 months (10-12 weeks) for the order to arrive. Over 5 months is too long. I spoke with a very kind, apologetic manager who did her best to assist in finding a replacement, but I couldn't justify paying for a result that wasn't what I wanted. An engagement ring is a forever piece, not something I wanted to compromise on. Ultimately, I canceled the order. I received a refund, but I'm still really dissatisfied. Mistakes happen, to be sure, but here I am after many weeks of planning, then 10 weeks of waiting, and I still don't have the engagement ring that I designed and purchased. And a refund doesn't give back that time. Now going into the holidays, I'll be with my family and friends, with no ring to show. read more

Upon searching for my perfect engagement ring, I worked with Danielle S. and I cannot stress enough on how she provided such an amazing service! I didn't feel any pressure during my time with her and she was very patient with my specific needs and requests, one example was letting me have some time to view a variety of diamonds on many different days and even gave me the chance to see some them outside to capture the natural reflection. I was surprised to find that Shane Co. was busy on a weekend during quarantine. You have to state your business at the door (there is a security person), and there was a wait to get in when we went. But since this means that they have proper social distancing protocols in place, we did not mind waiting. We only went to Shane Co. to look for a necklace chain. It was the only jewelry store nearby. However, we ended up having a good experience. I am guessing there isn't much variation in simple necklace chains. When they asked us for what chain length we wanted though, the shortest they had was 18 inches. Which still makes the pendant sit a little too far down for my preference. Over the next few days, I decided that I definitely preferred a shorter chain. I was delighted to learn that they would be able to shorten the chain. I hadn't been sure that they would be able to, because the chain I ended up getting wasn't a necklace made out of linked chains. It is something they call the "Singapore chain." The chain twists/spirals around...I can't think of a better way to describe it. And I was even more delighted to learn that it would be complimentary! If you buy a necklace chain there, they will shorten it for you for free. I dropped the necklace off, and about a week later, I was able to pick it up curbside, so I didn't even have to go into the store, which is great during COVID times. When I picked it up (and they also gave me the inch that they shortened the chain by), the nice woman who brought it out to me also told me that I could get it further shortened or have some of the chain added back on to lengthen it if I decided it was TOO short, as many times as I wanted. "Shane company is your friend in the diamond business!" That what all the radio ads tell me, and apparently they work, because they got me into the store! When it came time to pop THE question to my then-girlfriend, I was in the market for a green sapphire. I originally wanted an emerald, her birthstone, but I found out that emeralds chip more easily and are not good for everyday wear. Many jewelers won't even sell them in rings. A green sapphire, on the other hand, looks similar to an emerald and is second only to diamonds on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. My local jeweler didn't have a good selection of green sapphires. Shane Co's website, on the other hand, did. So I made the drive down to their Cupertino store to see what I could find. The first thing I noticed upon setting foot in the store was how old it looked. The decor was clean but drab, definitely not catering to a younger crowd. That's ok, I was there to buy a ring, not stare at the paint on the walls. Shane Co agents tend to rotate between helping different people at once. It can be annoying when your agent is busy talking to somebody else when you need help, but it's a necessary system because people sometimes just need time to stare at rings/gems, while others are waiting to be helped. A friendly agent named Steve was the one primarily helping me. I came in hoping to spend less than $1k for a ring (setting and stone), but the settings in my price range looked cheap. I finally decided on a $700 white gold setting, consisting of an interlocking engagement ring and wedding band that looked amazing. I'd have to get both eventually, so why no pony up a little and get something that looks awesome? Then it was on to choosing the stone. Likewise, the green sapphires in my price range were a little small and not the dark, forest green color that I wanted. Finally, I upped my budget a little. Steve went into the back, searched real hard, and brought out a larger, dark green sapphire that freaking SPARKLED. It was also around $700, but it was perfect.
