I can't say how much I like the Walnut Creek location. I've purchased my wife and my wedding rings here. I've also made additional purchases and I always get the same quality of service each time. As others have said, you may need to wait a minute sometimes, because well.... there are other customers that also need help. Shane Co has quality products, great prices and excellent customer service so its no wonder they can get busy at peak hours. As a tip for new or existing customers, I feel that it is worth the wait to work with the same sales associate when making those hard purchases such as wedding rings. I looked at many other stores, until I realized Shane Co had the best prices to match the quality I was looking for. Once I decided I wanted to buy here I stuck with the same person every time I came in. This was the best thing I could have done. My wife wanted about 6 specific features in an engagement ring, but I wanted to pick it out and surprise her once I was ready to propose. Because the ring I was looking for was so specific, I almost wasn't sure I was going to find what I was looking for without waiting a long time to find the right ring. However, because I stuck with the same associate over many visits, he knew what I was looking for and actually saw something in the back and told me he saw something he thought could be what I am looking for. As soon as I saw that ring I knew it was the one the moment he showed me. And.. it had everything I was looking for. I have to say that this experience really impressed me because I had taken the same sales associate's time over and over without *any* pressure to buy. I could also tell that he really wanted me to be happy with my purchase and listened to exactly what I wanted, which what I was looking for was not easy and I was willing to be patient to get exactly what I wanted. I can't remember the persons name as he is no longer at this location but I am very appreciative of his assistance for my big purchase. I cannot say enough good things about Shane Co. My ring is fabulous and so unique! The sales team does not work on commission, so they actually listen to you and your wants vs. needs. I've gone back multiple times to get my ring cleaned and they are always so friendly and professional. Had a wonderful experience at Shane's in Walnut Creek several weeks ago. I bought myself a copper & sterling silver bracelet I coveted for some time. BTW, I've found that few jewelers even carry decent looking or original bracelets for men. My purchase was under $100. to be fair but having lost my Exec. Sales & Customer Service position some months ago I have been short on cash and have been denying myself certain items. Well, it was my 64th birthday and not being attached these days had no one to buy the bracelet for me. My son asked me what I wanted and so took me to dinner at the Presidio Social Club on my birthday & to see Jake Shimabukuro, the amazing uke player, at Davies the other night as part of the SF Jazz Festival. My friend Paul, who joined us for the concert, took his both to dinner at Jardiniere after the show so the bracelet was on me. Anyway, put down 50% two months ago and paid it off the afternoon of my birthday dinner so I could wear it that evening, only to find it missing from my wrist the following morning! While the clasp is sturdy, it pushes down easily, letting the clip on the other side of the bracelet come loose. The result is no more bracelet. I wrote Tom Shane via their web site and received email from the Walnut Creek store manager who I believe is Christine Hammer. I wasn't sure what they were going to do as I asked if I could buy a new one at 'cost' or some such thing. BUT when I went to the Walnut Creek location the sales person (Brian? Excuse me for not being able to find his card) took care of me, giving me an identical bracelet FREE (no, I don't know what they would have done had it been a $10,000. diamond (-: ) and to make sure I wouldn't lose it again, kept it to have their in-house jeweler put an additional snap-over clasp on it so that even if the regular one came undone the snap-over would hold the two sides together. So far the regular clasp has not come undone however it's probably because the added sterling wire one is holding the two ends of the bracelet securely together. Bottom line is they now have a customer for life as far as I'm concerned. I'm one happy camper and if my 24 year old son eventually marries, and I believe he will, I'm going to strongly suggest he buy the engagement & wedding rings from Shane. read more

My fiancé and I have shopped at the partner store in San Mateo a few times before and had good experiences. We were in the market for a diamond and decided to check out the walnut creek store since we were in the area. Donovan helped make our shopping experience both fun and informative. He showed us a few diamonds in our price range and also played a game where we were shown 3 diamonds and picked the one we liked best based only on appearance. It turns out we liked a less expensive diamond more than a similar diamond that cost $3k more! Donovan was also able to return a pair of earrings that my fiancé never wore and gave us a higher value than we paid for them because the sapphires had appreciated in value! Awesome! Love Shane Co in WC! We went to pick out my engagement ring, and the girls (Nicole and Danielle) were amazing! I got exactly what I wanted in under 25 minutes. No pressure, asked our budget, and gave us the best of the best for that budget. About 4 months passed, and the week of Christmas I slammed my hand against a counter just right-one of my smaller halo diamonds had come out (and long gone). I called, and got an appt the next day (the 23rd) and was notified that I have a lifetime warranty for things like this. I had an Interesting experience here. I won't get into the nitty gritty but I came in and was greeted by one man who began helping me. He then passed me off to someone else. I am not sure why but I felt very uncomfortable almost as if he didn't want to help me. The second person must be overly burnt out about the job because this person repeated many things forgetting that it was said before. This person was very "sales-y" asking questions that were meant to get to know the customer but not really caring. As polite as I could be I tried to explain we are here to buy and don't need the sales-y pitch. We walked in expecting to buy on the spot but left because this person really struggled to read us correctly and therefore couldn't close the sale. I know what I want. I don't need you to ask the interpersonal questions that you don't care about. Let me give you my money. Alas, that didn't happen. read more

Nice diamond and two sapphires. They allowed me to pick over many stones and they ordered some sapphires from company HQ for me to pick from. They were very patient and provided guidance, not pressure. So when our 30th came around just now I went back to get the sweetie a strand of pearls with some pearl earrings. Very nice selection. I recently moved to the area and I was in need of a jeweler. I was a bit hesitant because I did not buy my rings from Shane Co but I didn't really have a choice since my regular jeweler is now miles away. I have to admit, it's their catchy commercials! I went in two seperate times to have my ring cut, first my engagement and second my wedding band, and they do it free of charge. Obviously they weren't getting any business from me but their customer service was excellent! I recently went back a third time to finally get my rings resized and to check out new settings. Again, their customer service was great! If you plan on getting your rings resized and did not purchase it from the Shane Co. be prepared for quesitonns like "Carat size?" and "Estimated Value?". It was just a bit weird because I was not involved in any of that when my husband bought it so all this info was new to me! Maybe for future customers have sales people ask the finance or talk to them personally. Just a thought. Otherwise, all was great! I'm downgrading my previous review because although they do replace diamonds should you lose them, I've had to have mine replaced no less than 3 times. It's a very small plain band with diamonds set in, and from what I understand because of the type of setting they're easy to lose. Seems to me like they should set them firmly the first time around. I saw a necklace for my wife on the Shane Co. website, so I called to confirm that they had it in stock at the Walnut Creek location. After driving 40 minutes in pretty heavy Friday traffic to get to the store, they couldn't find the necklace/pendant that they confirmed was in stock. The sales person helping me was not very experienced and kept disappearing for long stretches of time and then showing me things that were either not at all what wanted or more expensive. I went here shopping for an diamond engagement ring for my girlfriend, after looking around on various online sites such as blue nile. My father and I went in and talked to a man named Felipe who took down notes to get a general idea of what I was looking for and price range, then showed us a variety of stones. It was actually more like an introductory lesson in diamond appraisal, and we had a good time looking through the loupes and evaluating various diamonds. I finally settled on a virtually colorless brilliant round of almost a carat. The wait for setting it in the presentation band was several days because we went the weekend before Valentine's Day, and the place was packed. However Felipe managed to find an opening that afternoon to get my stone set, and I was able to take it hope a couple hours later. I was especially happy for this because I wouldn't have to think of an excuse to tell my girlfriend where I was going during a weekday evening; I was free to hide it away until the big night and and plan my method. Now that's it's all done my Fiancé loves the ring, especially how clear and colorless it is, and we plan to go back for the band sizing. After moving to the East Bay, I had to leave behind the great group of people at the San Mateo Shane Co. and was pretty bummed out about it. I shouldn't have worried! I've been taking my rings to this location for the last two years for their check-ups twice a year and the people here are incredibly warm and friendly. I usually swing by with a toddler in tow, and they are so sweet to him and I always feel like I'm visiting old friends or family as I wait for my rings to get cleaned. The San Mateo location may have been the beginning of my loyalty to this fantastic company, but this Walnut Creek location will keep that loyalty strong. I had heard a lot of good things about Shane Co before I went in on February 28th. Nevermind the hundreds of times I'd heard the radio commercial or the quick appearance of Tom on South Park. I knew from friends experiences that I wanted to check them out. When I walked in, I was a little intimidated due to the fanciness of the entryway. I immediately felt I was underdressed in my star wars t shirt instead of something with buttons. I was greeted by Samantha L. and we began our journey into the world of diamonds. My review is mainly for Samantha, who sold me the engagement ring I ended up purchasing that day. I already had some idea of what I wanted but I needed some education first. Samantha went way into the details of how diamonds are graded and rated and was basically awesome. She talked to me like a grown up (which I think everyone can appreciate), and showed me examples of every type of diamond she explained to me. I learned how to spot the flaws by looking through the loupe. That was probably the worst thing I could have learned because I kept see flaws on everything and it took some time to find a diamond I could approve of now that I was an expert. In the end, I paid a couple hundred more than I planned on once I saw the difference in what i thought i wanted and what I felt was acceptable for me to have my reputation attached to (lets face it folks, when she wears that rock, no one is judging her, they're judging me). ANYWAY, as I was waiting for Samantha to grab a couple more diamonds for me to evaluate, I listened to a couple of the other sales people talk to other customers and I was kind of surprised at how "slick" they seemed and I was really glad I got Samantha. She was low pressure, very pleasant, and knew her stuff. Dealing with her was like having a conversation; I never felt like she was trying to sell me something which is the impression I got from listening to a couple of the other sales people. She just gave me information and let me make up my own mind. In addition to my great customer service experience, Shane Co had good prices and a solid policy of a lifetime gurantee and warranty as long as the item is cleaned every 6 months at Shane Co. It was my first time in this store with two goals: get my appraisal for my ring put into my name (my fiancé bought my engagement ring through Craigslist) and find a wedding band to go with my engagement ring. The lady helping me at first said putting the ring in my name would be no problem, had me fill out paperwork for the transfer only to later tell me it was against company policy to put my name on my appraisal papers. She helped others while supposedly searching for a wedding band for me to go with my ring and later came back with a ring that could not be altered to fit in my setting. My fiance and I went ring shopping at the mall, I had searched online for ideas and 2 stores had the ring I liked from online. The ring in person was pretty but not as impressive as it was on the pictures, so we continued to shop, I mentioned the Shane Co. to him and the next day we went to check out their selection. The commercials you hear on the radio are exactly what we found. I got a style that was similar to the picture I showed them, but way better. I love it even more than the online one I saw. I also don't care about diamonds, my favorite color is purple so I asked if I could get an amethyst, the sales person, Megan, explained that although they had amethyst jewelry they didn't carry loose stones like the diamonds or sapphires because they aren't as durable. I asked if I could get a purple sapphire, she said sure. She brought out some that weren't the color I was looking for. She was so patient and explained that most would be a lighter purple and not the deep purple like amethysts typically are. I was a little sad and she said she could call around to the other stores to see if they had the cut and color I was looking for. So she took the 2 rings we liked most and put them on hold for us and took my info. The next weekend we went back to the mall store and looked at the online picture ring again. It was still pretty but not that impressive. Then we went off to see Megan again. She had called me a few days before and said she found 2 stones she wanted to show me. We got there and she showed me 2 stones, 1 was a similar cut to what I was looking for but more of a rectangular shape than princess cut. the other was an asscher cut purple sapphire that was the deep purple color I wanted. We put it in the prongs to see, it was a little bigger than we wanted but it was so pretty and the color was more important than the size. Even though the size was slightly larger than what we wanted it pooped so nicely! I love it. I can't wait to go pick up my ring when they are done setting the stone. They truly do have one of a kind rings you wont' see anywhere else. I'm an artist so when I see things I automatically think how I would change it to my taste. The Shane Co. let me do that to get the right ring! Megan worked very hard to make sure we loved the ring, all the staff were so polite to us and they were so busy both times we went, but someone took the time each time to welcome us and make sure we were being helped. We weren't sure if we were going to buy the ring when we went back the second time but because she did deliver what we asked for, it was too pretty to resist! I can't wait to take a picture. My husband bought my engagement ring here in 2011 and they let him view a lot of diamonds privately, gave him a lot of information about the diamonds he would eventually choose to ensure he understood what he was buying and how their process worked for creating the ring.
