Nestled in a mostly residential area, with plenty lot parking, Shari's offers breakfast, lunch and dinner served all day with a special prime rib meal on Friday, Sat and Sun. Visited for the first time this week on a beautiful day. We sat by the window booths with views overlooking San Bruno. Service could have been better but we were chilling and enjoying the views. We were asked to seat ourselves so we weren't given any menus, so when a server came by a few minutes later asking what we wanted to drink, we didn't have a chance to see what they offered. Food was mid and basic, but we did appreciate their extensive menu options. We didnt try their pies and maybe that's where the real magic is for Shari's. We ordered: App: - Chicken Quesidilla, came with a side of salsa and sour cream Mains: - 8oz Steak* & Eggs*: Hash Browns * Buttermilk Pancakes (2) * Medium Rare * Sunny Side Up (2) ... steak was tender and pink in the middle but bland - Meat Lover's Skillet: Buttermilk Pancakes (2) * Hash Browns * Over Easy (2) ... not served on a skillet and not very hot where even the shredded cheese wasn't melted. Pancakes were fluffy and good. Drinks: - Fresh Ground Coffee (*was watery) - Lemonade Like other reviewers mentioned, the place unfortunately had a noticeable off-putting smell coming from the men's restrooms by the entrance that trickled into the dining areas which is a shame knocking down my rating to 2 stars. Our main server with blue hair was nice.

At first glance in writing this review, I saw it had a 3.5 rating which seems low in accordance to my experience. I've been to a couple Shari's locations, mostly up in the northern parts of California and have always had a positive experience and impression. This particular spot was no different and in fact, have not enjoyed a Shari's more than this one location. The premises are great, yeah, a bit dated, but clean and the views from here are spectacular. It is an easy on & off place from the freeway in a not too congested part of town. The service was spot on and the food that me and my buddy had was good. Seriously, there was nothing to complain about. And so to those who expected more from a chain restaurant, I don't know what you were envisioning, but I think you'd have to recalibrate your expectations. These folks did a great job with our food, efficient service and providing a good atmosphere. I'd definitely put this place on my regular rotation now that my friend introduced me to it. So here's a solid 4-star rating. Good luck Shari's and my best hopes for your continued success.

I haven't been here in a long time, today I went with my parents. The place hasn't changed at all. Decor and dining area still looked the same. Our waitress sat us within minutes. It wasn't too busy but it seemed like she was the only one working. We ordered: 1. Meatlover's skillet - It looked like it had been left a little too long. Sausage and hashbrowns were burnt. With all the meats it was a little too salty for me. I only received 1 slice of toast and they cut it in half. Sourdough toast was nice and fluffy. 2. Small breakfast country fried steak - It was a good portion and country fried steak was crunchy. Gravy tasted sour. 3. Small breakfast denver omelette - My dad enjoyed this with the pancakes. 4. Orange juice - Tasted like it was watered down but it had some pulp. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. My parents thought it was pretty reasonably priced. To me it was ok nothing special.

Not well done. Had this delivered via door dash. I hit the option no pink but here it is.

Shari's is an institution. We went from going here in the middle of the night for pies and burgers to waking up early beating traffic. My friends and I decided to come here for a random weekday morning. We were seated pretty quickly and the hostess was hella nice. The restaurant wasn't too busy and it was nice being able to talk as loud as we want while just enjoying the company. Overall it's a decent experience and it's just a change of pace of the usual casual dining experience.

I went on a quiet evening. I requested to sit in the back with the larger parties, because I was waiting for someone who was with the larger party. I got mostly amazing service! My meal was served exactly the way I requested. My drink refills were a bit slow, but they came quickly when I was able to request them. The selection of pies wasn't as plentiful as it used to be, but the pie was delicious.

The Prime Rib is excellent with good sides. Tender, thick cut, juicy... great price. On Weekend- early evening cuz they run out!

This is a "Go To" for a quick and tasty breakfast/ $8-15... well-prepared, friendly fast servers, like a family here. Also, I come here just for the Prime Rib, very tasty, veggies & potatoes, never a disappointment. Parking is plentiful. Plenty of booths with large windows. View is fantastic, overlooking SFO, you can imagine going to Hawaii from the planes flying out. Just off 280.

2 x2 x2 Fast friendly service, great breakfast

Great breakfast 2x 2x 2 eggs, bacon pancakes. They also have great prime Rib dinners on the weekend!

If you like to go back to the 70's style cheesy decor then Shari's is your restaurant. The place needs a scrubbing and a half and a must need update. Rating:1 Let's not get into the microwave food !!!? Rating : 0 This place can really improve and shine but I guess management does not want to.

Came here in a late Friday evening around 8:30. Got seated right away. Server was decent. Was not a classy place but was clean well lit. He told us about the off menu special. Food was decent, at the right temperature and appropriately seasoned. The whole experience was a good solid three to four star. Portions were decent. Nothing to complain about, but also nothing really special to write home about. Was disappointed that they only had three flavors of pies left even thought they would be open for another three hours.

I've only had the pies at Shari's so far. But the pies are about on par with Nation's and Marie Callender's. The prices are reasonable at $5.xx for a slice and $16.99 for whole pie. I've tried the chocolate cream pie which tastes like the jello chocolate pudding. The strawberry rhubarb is on the sour side. The pumpkin cream pie is good. A more creamy pumpkin pie. The lemon meringue was mainly all cream The lemon sour cream was probably the best out of all the pies along with the pumpkin I went on 3 separate occasions during holidays and the service was really nice. Next time will have to try the food. A lot of tables inside and looks like good for groups. Parking lot

Does this look like a slice of pie?? Sad.

At my seat (depicted) you get live behind the scenes of a kitchen. Me personally, I enjoy watching my food being cooked in front of me, so I enjoyed it. I originally went because of looking at the prices on an image on yelp. It was $16 for sausage, eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. That's a great deal! But, once I got there inflation kicked it up to $18. Not the biggest difference to deter, but just letting everyone know the real price. I got pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and bacon (depicted). The eggs were good, pancakes were very good, hash browns were okay, and the reason for 4 star instead of a 5.... the bacon. The bacon wasn't crispy and cooked to order. It was chewy and I guess they cook it before and then heat it up on the griddle after. It is super noticeable from the taste, but especially from the texture. I would recommend this place to anyone, but just be aware with the vital advice I wrote.

My pork chop dinner included soup or salad, slice of toasted and buttered sourdough, potatoes or rice, vegetables and choice of dessert. All for just under $30 before tip. The meal was as expected for a '60s coffee shop. Salt is the dominant seasoning. The turkey and rice soup was a smart way to use leftover ingredients. The boiled red potatoes were good. The two thin pork chops were supposedly marinated, but I couldn't tell from tasting them. They were over cooked--dry, tough and needed some herbs. DH had the cheeseburger with potato salad and praised the meal. He also devoured my dessert--ice cream with chocolate sauce. Service was friendly and efficient, making me want to return. Next time I'll have something like a sandwich or burger.

We asked what he would recommend... he said the Chicken Fried Steak ... hands down. So we both order that. Chicken fried steak, 2 eggs, hashbrowns and 2 slices of toast $20.00 OK first of all the chicken fried steak came out crispy and wonderfully deep fried, it was smothered in country gravy (I think it was sausage). Great flavor... brought back memories of me traveling in the South. The eggs were perfectly... I threw it on top of the crispy hashbrowns (its shredded potatoes, not chunks). i added a little Chula and broke the yolks to cover the potatoes. There is a single, gender neutral bathroom at the back. Its clean, well stocked and spacious. The only negative was the no touch paper dispense was out of order and they had towels in plastic box on the sink counter.
