This is a gem in our neighborhood! The food is delicious, and the customer service - great! The gentleman behind the counter is always wearing a smile. Sometimes I have a craving for hummus and store bought won't cut it - I literally come here for the hummus and add some baba ghanoush to my order because why not - they are both so tasty, authentic, and so satisfying - not to mention the many other items I've tried on the menu. My wife and I came here in search of a 5 star shawarma. We ended up visiting twice and getting shawarma, kibbeh, 2 types of baklava and a Lassi. We got to sample some falafel for free. The shawarma starts with a large piece of pita bread to which you add your choice of ingredients. The chioces were: hummus, garlic spread, chickpeas, feta cheese, pickles, pickled turnip, seasoned onions, cucumbers, pepperoncini, tomatoes, black olives, lettuce, tahini sauce, chipotle sauce and hot sauce. The meat is added, then the bread is rolled and the ends folded like a burrito. It is grilled on a panini press. We chose hummus, garlic spread, pickles, pickled turnip, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, tahini sauce and chipotle sauce. This combination worked incredibly well with the beef and lamb inside the pita wrap. The wrap was just the right thickness. Not too thin to fall apart and not too thick to detract from the flavor. We got shawarma on 2 different days. The first time, the meat was rather loose and a little mushy. Tasted very good. The second time, the meat still tasted very good, but the meat was firmer and in well defined strips. An excellent shawarma either way. The kibbeh is a dumpling consisting of a dough made with burghul (bulgur) and finely ground beef. The dough is stuffed with pine nuts, onions, ground beef and middle-eastern spices. It was served with a dip. Our kibbeh was very dark brown from deep frying. It was crunchy on the outside, but not burnt tasting. The stuffing tasted a bit like an italian meatball. The overall flavor was very good and interesting. The falafel had organic chickpeas, fava beans, vegetables and spices. It was deep fried. The exterior tasted like the exterior of the kibbeh. I am not a fan of ground beans; but this bean mixture had a decent flavor, especially with the crispy shell. We bought 2 containers of baklava. One container had only baklava with walnuts. The other container had 2 kinds of baklava and 3 other pastries. The baklava differed by the type of nuts. One had pistachios and one had walnuts. The other pastries were similar in flavor to the baklava except they were much more subtle. We enjoyed the baklava with walnuts in the first container the most. It had light flaky layers of filo dough which were rich in honey and walnut flavors. The mango lassi had mango, yogurt and sugar. It was like a milkshake. The perfect drink to cool down the chipotle sauce in our shawarma. The dining room was clean. The restaurant was small. There was only room for 5 tables. The restroom was out of order at the time. We plan to come back for the shawarma and to try some other dishes, like the tabbouleh salad. read more

I was a huge shawarma guys fan and had been for years. Highly recommended them to friends but I noticed recently (even before COVID)the place has gone down hill. Not sure if they have new owners or management but the quality has gone down significantly. The topping options decreased and the bread- the amazing bread they had - is now absolutely awful! I purchased a chicken shawarma sandwich yesterday and it was hard to hold without it falling apart. A lady was making the bread on-site and it was just poor quality and had no flavor! So disappointing! Also what's with the aluminum foil spread all over some equipment? It looks cheap and distasteful! Come on guys! Make the Middle Easterners proud and raise the bar! I had an eye appt at this shopping area and needed a quick take out dinner. Once again yelpers came through with their detailed reviews. Based on their online menus we had our orders ready to place. This is similar to the Cava and Chipotle concept: choice of base(pita, sandwich, rice or salad) and then add your meats/veggie option and then condiments. It's similar to Halal Guys but more selection in condiments. I opted for a Falafel Salad(comes with 4 freshly fried falafels). Tip: if you are ordering other items place that falafel order first because it's fried when you order. The condiment choices were fun! I added hummus, feta, tomatoes, 2 kinds of sauces,couscous and asked for to-go sauce. The hubby ordered a brown rice base with beef and lamb combo. They are mixed together so you have to have both meats. He had lettuce, onions, pickles, tahini, feta and had a sauce to go. We also ordered some of their meat and spinach pies. They also heat them up upon ordering so place that first if you don't want your other food to cool down. There are lots of options. All are fresh and they were so tasty as our take home meal. The price point is in track with similar eating styles(less than $9). We were starving and forgot to take photos. HANGRY was not gonna happen! Service was super friendly! I recommend the owners fire everyone and get back in the store and run it themselves. A young black lady served me today. She didn't seen to give a crap about anything besides getting back to her cell phone asap. I ordered these guys on grub hub. I would say this is a solid shawarma plate. I ordered the chicken shawarma with garlic and hummus. Food was a tad bit cold and salty. I would give them a 3.6/5 .... I ordered manakeesh and baba ghanoush online, when I picked it up I noticed he gave me fatayer. I told him it wasn't my order and he said it was. I was too tired to argue so I took it. Thank God I asked for my Pita Bread! Today was my first time here, I came based on the reviews...it looked so good from what I saw from the reviews of others. I came for lunch, I walked in and I was greeted with a smile and the cashier said he would be with me...so I was acknowledged right away. So I ordered the chicken Schwarma salad, I noticed their little chicken rotisserie set up..immediately thought yay my chicken will be just as juicy in my salad. NOPE. I'm a bit disappointed, maybe my hopes were too high, my chicken was really dry and wasn't fresh. This maybe because of timing or when I came...but when I was eating the salad I realized the chicken pieces were really dried up...not as it look on the rotisserie. I did see the chicken on the salad when she was assembling it but I couldn't tell if it was fresh or not...anyways I proceeded to eat everything but the chicken...cause I was hungry and I paid for it. Also they forgot to give me pita bread, thank God I asked! Because I ended up eating that with the salad and the veggies minus the chicken. This is a family-owned and -operated shop. We stopped here on a whim while making the drive to Richmond from BWI airport. So so so glad we did!!! The food was incredible, so full of flavor and at such great prices. I noticed other reviewers said something about the place being dirty??? Yeah so no: either the owners corrected for that or else it was just never the case--and I say this because there was nothing dirty about this gem of a restaurant! I had ordered a chicken shawarma and it was delicious. I also ordered a mango & yogurt shake (Talk about pure, smooth and rich!). The shawarma happen to be the perfect size to fulfill my appetite. If monkey-pigeons could listen and speak again...the talk that we would be having at this very moment about this place would be non-stop. Now you load up on what ever sauces and toppings you want to your heart desires. I got a pita with lamb and beef combo and loaded it up with healthy treats. It was so flavorful and fairly well prices under $10. They also have a rewards program you can put your phone number in and it gives you points for showing up. Not a fan. Hubby and I were on the way to Tysons and detoured here looking for some falafel that would be a cut above the mall fare. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The 5-piece falafel was bone dry and flavorless and looked previously frozen, not homemade at all. The tiny container of white sauce that accompanied it was as bland as water. Hubby's beef shawarma was not good either. The meat tasted old as did the pickled vegetables and other ingredients. There was also an unpleasant charred ash taste on the bread. I was excited to check out Shawarma Guys out, ever since they overtook the previous seafood place (Douglas Crab Cakes) in the plaza. I have to be honest - the main reason that I was super curious was because of their restaurant logo - it is just TOO TOO CUTE! :D This family-owned eatery was started off with two brothers, and they offer appetizers (such as tabouleh, hummus, fettoush, etc.) and shawarma entrees (you choose either a pita sandwich, bowl (with rice), or a salad). I had a chance to try their Hummus (made with organic chick peas, this was pretty smooth); the Baba Ghannoush (had a nice roasted eggplant taste, and chunky the way I like it to be!); Falafel (hand-molded and deep-fried, these, were crispy, but I just wished there was a bit more spices to them); and, an order of Kibbeh (one of my favorite foods, this was a little disappointing, as these were a bit too game-y for my taste). For the entrees, I had the Shawarma Bowl (opted for the beef/lamb combo, topped with hummus only and chickpeas only; the beef/lamb met was definitely juicy, but it was a little too game-y for me, still; however, don't forget to get a cup of their hot sauce (consistency of a salsa), as this really lightens up the dish! I also dumped all of the baba ghannouj into the bowl, which made it much better), and the hubs had the Shawarma Bowl with the chicken (the chicken had a weird texture, as it was way too soft and disintegrated in your mouth). So another chipotle-style restaurant has opened up and the food is similar to cava & pita pouch. So what's so special about this place? The CHICKEN! The flavor of their chicken definitely beats out the other Mediterranean chains. I ordered two rice bowls; one with chicken and one with beef/lamb. $7.95 for a bowl which is a dollar cheaper than pita pouch and a few dollars cheaper than cava. I first tried the beef/lamb bowl which was average. Paired with the price I was ready to give this place a 4 star. Then I bit into the chicken bowl and my eyes lit up! We ordered the beef and chicken shawarma sandwiches which everyone loved. Best shawarma in MD/DC/VA area and I have had them all. The hummus was nuts. You might think hummus is easy. Its not. A little garlic, not too much. Pureed the perfect amount. The bread was equally awesome. The fatayer, imagine mini calzones filled with meat, cheese, or spinach were also top notch. Even the dessert was good and that is rarely the case. If you want shawarma go here. No one else is close. The rest is usually pan sautéed nonsense. Oh yea and the falafel. I love the fact that Shawarma Guys is family owned and operated. It definitely stands out in the Manchester Lakes shopping center, which is full of chain restaurants. Shawarma Guys offers a wide variety of appetizers such as: tabbouleh, fettoush, and falafel, to name a few. I opted for the chicken shawarma bowl with brown rice, baba ghannoush, feta cheese, sumac onions, olives, yogurt & cucumber sauce, garlic sauce, picked turnips, and parsley. I enjoyed the bowl a lot - everything tasted really fresh and wholesome. Their sauces are made in-house, which I appreciated. I will say that the baba ghannoush was very, very salty. It wasn't a dealbreaker or anything, but I wish they had scaled back on the salt just a little. I'm really happy that this place is now in the neighborhood. I'm Mediterranean and I'm a huge fan of Middle Eastern food in general. So, this place was a must-try for me. It was 9:45 pm on a Sunday and the store closes at 10:00 pm. Yet, we were welcomed by Messih, the only guy working at the time, who was very courteous. He offered us two complimentary appetizers and we picked the za'atar rolls. I had a beef shawarma sandwich and he offered me a complimentary mango lassi and a complimentary dessert. Great customer service, huh? Yes! Let me start with the beef shawarma sandwich. I had the traditional toppings: pickled turnips, tahini, cilantro, spiced onions on top. All ingredients were VERY fresh. The beef, however, was a tad mild, BUT the toppings really compensated the lack of spices on the beef and made this sandwich just perfect. Not too spiced, yet flavorful and tasty. Oh, the bread was also very good; not too thick and not too thin. The Halawet El-Jeben "sweet cheese" dessert has a very unique taste that I can't explain. Not too sweet and doesn't taste like any cheese I've had before. I can't tell you how it tastes like, but it tastes really good. You have to try it yourself. I have to admit that I didn't really understand the first bite, but as I bit my way through the rolled cheese, I loved it! The mango lassi is not as unique as the dessert, but it was a great way to end this lovely dinner. This paragraph is for the wonderful customer service. They really know how to keep their customers satisfied and happy with the food and service. I went to places with great food and horrible customer service and never went back for the sake of their good food. This place has both great food AND great customer service and I know I'll be a regular customer as long as they keep the standards and quality of these two up. Finally, this is my new favourite eatery at Kingstowne. The place is clean, the food is great, the people who work there are even greater. Definitely try it if you're around Kingstowne or if you're craving some great middle eastern fixes. read more

Well lucky me to walk in on the second day of business here. Really glad to see Kingstowne have a nice dine in or or out Med cafe. Sparkling clean, super nice staff. I had a shawarma bowl that comes with any ingredients that you choose from their table, hummus , hot bread and they even gave me a complimentary meat pie. I enjoyed my bowl and ended up getting pickled turnips, spicy red sauce and a cucumber yogurt dressing on mine. All delish. Carried home an order of falafel for later. Spent $18 including drink.
