Just opened up and a welcome change to the area. Not everything is listed on the menu correctly but they're very accommodating. The meat selection is limited but very delicious and frankly, I'd rather have a limited selection and everything be delicious than an overwhelming amount of choices and it being hit or miss. read more

When I ordered I wish they had peeled the meat straight out from the spit instead of coming from a steam tray, as that seemed like the fresher option. My lamb tasted very dry. This place is average at best. We were craving some lamb gyros for lunch and came across Sharma guys. I was excited to see that they cooked the big slabs of meat on the traditional machine that cooks the meat slow and makes the outside crispy. There was a decent amount of sauces and toppings that paired well with your meal. Right off the bat, you get the option to get a sandwich, bowl, or a side. I decided to go with a sandwich in a pita. Then got the garlic and hummus as spreads and all the toppings (cucumber, peppercini, tomatoes, feta cheese just to name a few) to make it easier. At the end, they put your sandwich in a press to toast the pita and keep your sandwich together. I also got a side of the pastry that comes in either meat, cheese, or spinach. I got one of each and realized the pastries were a horrible mistake. They were all dry, bland, and small for the price. The sandwich was only a little better. Hoping for freshly sliced lamb, I got meat that had been sitting in a warmer. My sandwich fell apart (probably because of my own doing by getting all the toppings) so I ended up eating my sandwich with a fork. Overall, the sandwich was okay. The highlights were the spreads which were prepared well and the vegetables that were freshly cut. The lamb was a little disappointing which was the whole reason I chose this place. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was very clean. I got the chicken shawarma rice bowl and a side of grape leaves. The grape leaves were ok. They were about average to other places I've been to. What I was not too thrilled about was the filling, it was a little tasteless. The chicken shawarma rice bowl was good. I felt the portion size could be bigger for the price. There were ample amount of toppings to choose from and they were very fresh. The garlic sauce was probably the best topping I got on my bowl. They are so disorganized and slow that it takes 15 minutes to get your sandwich ready with only 1 person ahead of you in line. They give you a lotta food enough for two people or you'll have left overs. Many different sauces and toppings to choose from I tried most of them with my meal. I've only ever tried their rice bowl - choose your rice and your meat and then your toppings - but they have pita wraps and sandwiches as well. I opted for a chicken shawarma rice bowl ($8.95) and added couscous, hummus, sumac onions, chickpeas, parsley, and tomatoes as toppings. I then added some garlic and yogurt and cucumber as sauces. I like that you can add as many toppings and sauces as you'd like. By the time I was done ordering, my bowl was a heaping mound of food. I really enjoyed my bowl. Everything tasted fresh and very filling. I couldn't even finish my bowl in one sitting. I highly recommend getting the garlic sauce. It looks light and fluffy but it's packed with delicious flavor and really enhances your food. They also serve other entrees like falafel pita pocket sandwiches, shawarma pita pocket sandwiches, falafel rice bowls, falafel and shawarma salads, as well as appetizers like tabouleh, baba ghannoush, and fettoush. I also ordered a mango lassi drink ($2.85), which was pretty good. I also want to highlight their service. We were helped by a friendly and bubbly staff member, who provided recommendations for the toppings and had a very upbeat personality. I really wanted to like this place after reading a Washington Post piece on the place. I lived overseas when I was younger and I'm a shawarma nut, always seeking out a good place with an authentic, well seasoned shawarma. Unfortunately this place disappointed. The chicken, which should have been freshly shaved off of the spit, instead was in a container and had clearly been leftover from the day before. The meat lacked flavor and had an odd, off taste, like it wasn't fresh (duh, because it wasn't)! I usually cannot get enough garlic sauce, but this one was either too lemony or salty; it was hard to tell, but I left with my mouth puckered and needing something to wash the taste out.
