This food was SO GOOD!! So fresh and flavorful!! I could eat here a few times a week! I had the chicken shawarma plate, top tier!!

I've stopped in twice now to pick up lunch for work, and both experiences have been good. So far I've tried the gyro pita, fries, and their lemonade. The food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were generous. My coworkers also enjoyed their meals. Service was quick and my orders were ready on time. Overall, it's a solid lunch option, and I'll be back to try more of the menu.

This place tastes as good as it looks online and one visit was enough for me to know i'll be back. For starters, this restaurant is in a shopping center with plenty of parking. The inside of the restaurant is also cute and decorated nicely. The menu is pretty big- I knew I wanted the shawarmas sliced up so I could share them so I got 2 mix boxes. The mix box is just shawarmas cut up into bite size pieces with fries. For the actual shawarmas- I chose the cozy and laziz. My total was under $35 for both boxes and it was enough for 3 people. The food came out in around 15 minutes. Both shawarmas were amazing, savory, and flavorful. I actually loved the laziz (chicken and cheese) the most but my parents said their favorite was the cozy! You can't go wrong with either. Definitely worth trying this place.

My friends have been raving about this place, I did get to eat a shawarma that my husband got home and I loved it ! But I wanted to eat it fresh hot and oh did it slap ! For a Sunday afternoon it was pretty packed but we were lucky to find a table, we were planning to sit on the metal benches outside the next door grocery store as an option! They do also have a window communal table but we were 6 adults and 2 kids so that wasn't an option! We did join 3 2 seater tables We got the Syrian mezze platter that comes with tabouli, pita and dolmas with a choice of 3 sides for which we chose hummus, baba ganoush and tzatziki. We also got a beef shawarma couple muhammara wraps and a spicy falafel wrap along with the fries ! Everything was fresh, tasty and was devoured in minutes! 10/10 recommend!

Super friendly staff. Food was good, portions were a good size, and cost was reasonable. We took the food to go and would like to try it next as dine in. Good option for quick service and nice flavors.

Their Grand Opening and first day were today! Shawarma Stop is a small, clean, bright, order-at-the counter restaurant featuring Lebanese and Syrian food. I had the opportunity to talk with one of the owners, and she told me that her family's goal is to be able to offer "something for everyone." I think they've done that! It's fun to watch them cut the chicken shawarma off of the large skewers, and I enjoyed my chicken shawarma bowl with perfectly-cooked meat and turmeric rice, with tzatziki on the side. My friend liked his spicy chicken wrap, but it was quite messy and difficult to eat. We both felt the food was a little on the salty side, but I'm sure others would disagree. They were packed, but service was friendly and attentive. I hope they do a really good RTP lunch business, especially with to-go orders, because it can easily get crowded.

Walked in to order a takeout. The staff were friendly and helpful, answered all the questions we had about the menu. While we were waiting for the order, we got to observe a decor - loved wall art display and beautiful floating wood grid with greenery. Simple, yet reflecting cultural references. When our order was ready, the staff kindly offered to take a large bag to the car. Probably not the norm as they were not too busy on a Sunday evening, but a very nice touch. Now onto the food. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Everyone in our group enjoyed their dinner. Baba ghanoush was one of the best I've tried. Spicy falafel was a tad spicy, but did not loose the flavor. This will become our go to place for sure.

Quick service even though a busy lunch crowd. Plenty of seats and very clean. Most authentic and flavorful chicken shawarma wrap. The pickle and just right crisp to the wrap. Side of fries and lemonade made it perfect.

Food was delicious and was a perfect portion size. The service was very quick. There was a decent amount of seating inside as well. Overall really enjoyed this place!

We came here for a late lunch around 3pm on a Sunday. There were a few people already there but around 3:30pm a lot of people came into the restaurant. The service was great and the staff was friendly. I had the spicy muhammara wrap and it was so good. It was packed with chicken inside and it wasn't spicy to me, just very delicious. There was a sauce that was included inside the wrap along with fries and it was perfect. No need to get additional fries on the side because you'll get stuffed but the fries on the side were great as well. The spicy muhammara was more savory and heavy. The lamb gyro was light but also delicious and well seasoned. I recommend both. I'll certainly be back.

super tasty shawarma! it was my first time here and it did not disappoint. we got the chicken shawarma wrap with fries. (we had to order the fries separate) the wrap was filling and the chicken was super moist and tender. had such a great flavor. the garlic sauce was to die for! the dining room is pretty small and it was quite noisy when we came. the staff was super friendly and checked in on us as well.

Beef shawerma platter, with some garlic sauce and delicious hummus

Great food. The shawerma is delicious. The chicken shawerma is so good. Garlic sauce and hummus are amazing. Beef shawarma is great. It's just like the Shawerma we eat when we go to Jordan. I can't wait to go and try other dishes

I…read moredidn't realize the restaurant was on the Michelin list but after trying the food, I believe it deserves some stars. The service was spectacular and I even met one of the managers at the end. He was great. I also love the interior of the building and loved the decor. Okay, let's get the important part... the food. We got the meze platter as an appetizer and it was delicious but I'm not sure if it was worth the price of nearly 50 dollars. The crab baklava was also a bit underwhelming. The puff pastry was flaky and well done but it had very little crab flavor. If they could increase the crab it would have been one of my favorites. For entrees we ordered pastitsio with spare ribs, soft shell crab and spicy seafood pasta. Each dish was very delicious and the flavors worked well together. The crab was by far my favorite and has a nice light and crispy fried breading that paired perfectly with the tangy sauce and fresh greens. (See pictures) I would a hundred percent recommend this dish and would encourage you to try the restaurant!!!

Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing, especially given the importance of the occasion and the amount we spent. The service was very slow, and the overall experience simply did not match the standard that brought us back in the first place. While the manager did apologize and brought an extra dish to the table, the repeated apologies did not really make up for the poor pacing and frustration during brunch. The menu has a lot of variety but there are no substitutions or adding protein to a salad.... But the food was good! Since the food took a while -spirits were dampened. This is a great place for two to four people but since we were a party over six, our server was guaranteed a 20 percent tip -so maybe there was no incentive for great service.

Staff came to us immediately for our drink and appetizer order then allowed us the requested time to view the menu. The ambiance and feel of the place is incredible! We ordered the Greek mimosa and the spartan Bloody Mary along with the avgolemeno soup to start. Then the Pasticho and mousaka .Being Greek we are very particular about our Greek food. The Greek mimosa was excellent, the flavors aren't anything like a regular mimosa it is a whole new experience, if you like a red or rose wine try it! The bloody mark has a bit of a bite but it too has a great flavor I would not order if you don't like spicy or can't have salt. The avgolemano was delicious just the right amount of lemon too simple and elegant just lemon egg chicken rice and broth with light seasoning. The Pasticho was excellent! They even bought the right noodles ! About as close to my yaiyas as a restaurant can get! The mousaka was also delicious. Many times you get it the eggplant is either greasy or hard. This was perfect and not highly seasoned. I recommend giving this restaurant try parking is definitely a lot easier than Tara and the food is excellent and the ambience is fabulous!

Hidden away in the corner of the shopping center it is a little hidden gem. The interior is also quite nicely curated but if weather allows, I highly recommend opting for outdoor (coming for somebody who typically does the opposite. Went for a semi casual lunch and it was a great option. The menu reflected solid Greek options, with both meat and veggie focused dishes. While everything tasted quite good, the lamb was incredibly tough. Despite being described as slow roasted, both in gyros and sandwiches the lamb was near inedible. Knives and teeth could barely cut through, and despite chewing some swallowed had to just be of larger chunks. The meat itself was tough and there was just so much connective tissue. Now it did taste good but the eating experience was quite disappointing. Portion sizes were generous, and pricing was fair. Even desserts were large and easily shared with full plate sized baklava and slices. Service was friendly, though a bit slow for lunch and especially this cuisine. Not sure if it was just a bad day for the meat but otherwise ur honeslty would have been a much better experience, but lamb that tough, it was just quite shocking.

His service was greatly appreciated as all of us wanted to make it somewhere to watch The Canes game! He was efficient with opening the wine and getting our dinner orders in right away. Thank you Diondre for a great start to our evening. All of us raved over our food. Two of our friends had the Tomahawk Pork Chop featuring spinach, barrel-aged feta, herb aioli, and yummy Greek lemon potatoes. Both people agreed the kitchen team cooked them perfectly. One person absolutely loved his fire-roasted lamb chops that also had the delicious Greek lemon potatoes. Another one of our friends loved her Chicken penne Mykonos which we have ordered to-go many times. It looks even better in the restaurant as it has spinach, feta, mushrooms, tomatoes, white wine lemon cream sauce, and parmesan. This dish is a must try when you visit Taverna Agora in downtown Raleigh. Lastly, someone at the table exclaimed that their grilled salmon was one of the best salmon dishes he had ever enjoyed as its unique presentation features pickled beetroot, sautéed spinach, and a lemon caper sauce. I had the Poseidon Branzino which was fabulous. The dish had roasted branzino, medley of sautéed cherry tomatoes and onions, fresh herb rice, and skordalia (I had to look up what that is - a fascinating Greek garlic puree). The blending of all those flavors made for a scrumptious dinner, and thanks to the kitchen team for preparing it perfectly so that I could even eat the skin of the fish. We shared two bottles of Assyrtiko wine which is one of our favorite Greek wines after visiting Greece a few years ago. The wine list at Taverna is simple but thorough and fun to experiment with. Great job Taverna Team!

Walking in you'll feel like you've been transported to a village like, Greek atmosphere. To sit down you'll check in with the host and then be seated either inside or on the rooftop. We opted for the rooftop as it was a nice evening. To start I ordered the Baklava Old Fashioned (Bulleit bourbon, homemade baklava syrup, Angostura bitters, and Amarena cherries) which was amazing. Next we ordered the trio of all three spreads (Tzatziki, sun-dried tomato hummus, and spicy feta spread) and the calamari. Both dishes were excellent and I definitely prefer the spicy feta and tzatziki sauce. For my main course I ordered the Tomahawk Pork Chop (Chargrilled tomahawk chop, spinach, barrel-aged feta, herb aioli, Greek lemon potatoes) which was a bit disappointing. I probably should have sent the pork chop back as it was cooked well done and was very dry but was I was too hungry and didn't want to make my parents wait. For dessert I ordered Baklava Cheesecake (New York-style cheesecake with nuts and baklava filling) which was very nice and my mom ordered the Limoncello cake (lemon cake with lemon cream frosting) which was definitely the star of the show. If I'm back downtown I may try Taverna Agora again but will definitely avoid ordering the pork chop.
