We went to Shelly's for the first time the other day. It was late morning/brunch hour and pretty busy but we were seated (a party of 5) pretty quickly. The food was amazing and the service delightful. We will be going back, in fact my husband said that this is our new go-to place whenever we're picking up or dropping off at SeaTac. I gave it two stars based on lack of service. People seemed happy, and the food looked good, but don't go if you are expecting any kind of prompt service. Maybe I was there on an off day but after being sat in the bar area and being the only person in there I waited for 7-10 minutes after doing the customary "menus push away" and got no response. The lady that sat me was the only person who acknowledged me. There was a man sitting at the bar on his phone and looked like he may work there but I'm not sure. Very good food. If you are from out of town do not hesitate to eat here. Breakfast are wonderful. Can be a short wait so plan accordingly.

Was excited to try this place as it is close by and serves late breakfast, but it was a sad disappointment. I ordered the salmon benedict, which was the best thing on the table, salmon was good and eggs were well cooked, but the hollandaise was mediocre and the hash browns were bad--coated in flour and lukewarm. My husband had the country fried steak and the portion was tiny, the gravy was watered down and home fries were bland. The worst of the worst was my daughter's banana's foster which was drenched in BURNT caramel sauce and was inedible. Me and my husband decided to try this restaurant for dinner since it's close to home and the menu online looked amazing. Oh my gosh it was SO good! I had the turkey dinner (thanksgiving dinner) and my husband had the Bigfoot which is a burger with double patty, bacon, onion ring, and BBQ sauce. The lady serving us I think was the owner and she was extremely nice and friendly. We took a To go menu and the lunch and breakfast sounds good. We will definitely be back! read more

This place is awesome! Just what Normandy Park needed. I am a Burien resident so the commute isn't bad. The food here is really good. Atmosphere is pleasant and the place is nice and welcoming. Very happy to have found a go to spot for breakfast and lunch. read more

Had breakfast at Shelly's 4/2/16, 2nd day from their start. We followed Shelly from her previous gig. First impression was how clean and up to date it was, with new upholstery and interiors. However, the best part was the food. It was really good, and up to Shelly's standards. Portions were more than ample, and the chicken fried steak (my kryptonite) was delicious. Get the home fried potatoes, which were done just right. There are several breakfast offerings that look good which I intend to try. Am looking forward to having dinner there this coming Friday! Everything was average. I got the French Toast Special with bacon and scrambled eggs. It was good and average. Everything was cooked well, just the taste was average. The coffee was less than average, with coffee grounds in it. I'd eat here again only if someone invited me for a free meal. read more

What happened??? We used to recommend this place to go there regularly for breakfast and lunch. Today we went and ordered simple cheese-burger and BLT with onion rings. The onion rings were soggy, greasy and undercooked. The BLT was boring. Sorry Shelly's we wanted to love you and your place. The waitress never once asked us how our food was. I ordered french fries mid-meal, because the onion rings were raw and greasy. She brought the fries and those were similar - clearly cooked at too low a temp, and they all tasted like "freezer." After paying the $30 tab and telling the cashier about the bad food, she said she'd mention it to the cook and said "sorry about that." Never going back. read more

Hospitality and service staff often find ourselves wishing that we could yelp the guests that we deal with every day just like they constantly review us. In an act of justice I would like to say that the woman angrily mocking and rudely questioning the kind young busser about the gluten free options on the menu receives a 1 star rating. She was horribly nasty and the young man answering her questions remained kind and helpful even though his job was not to be a server. Even after he walked away and could here the gluten woman complaining about how "obviously eggs and bacon are gluten free" he went to the kitchen to ensure that he had listed all of the gluten free options for her. Good job young man. Gluten woman obviously knew which options on the menu were gluten free before she asked and you were such a sweet person the whole time she questioned you. 5 stars for the awesome staff at Shelly's. We loved to gluten full biscuits and gravy. read more

So glad Shelly opened up this restaurant in this location. food is great, been twice already this month. Loved the food both times. Service great too. It'll be my regular local place now. I gather they inherited the decor from the prior failing restaurants, so hope to see a better style coming after a few months of profit. Great little breakfast/brunch place in Burien. Service was good and quick, food was delish! We were all vegetarians so we tried the Greek and Sandra and Fiesty omelets, veggie sandwich and they didn't disappoint. Their homemade jam is not to be missed either. read more

Big menu, fast service, friendly staff. I had the Señora Dominguez breakfast. You can get your the breakfast dishes as an omelette, pile, mixed up, or separate. Hash browns or house potatoes are offered. It was delicious. I'll definitely be back. read more

Went in Sunday for brunch, got the eggs Benedict and it was delicious! the hash browns were tasty it was a small amount so i wish they'd put a little more on your plate but other than that no complaints! They have a huge menu a lot of yummy stuff to choose from. I will for sure be back. read more

I've been coming here since early last year and absolutely loved it at first. Their potatoes were perfectly seasoned and the bananas foster French toast was my fav. But every time I come here, especially as of late, it gets worse and worse. Today I came with my parents because I was excited for them to try one of my favorite spots. The potatoes that I talked so highly of were BLAND and COLD. Y'all must have new chefs because they obviously don't understand the concept of seasoning and also seem to be making up their own menu as well. My mom ordered the feisty vegetarian egg dish and was very disappointed. This item clearly does not have mushrooms stated as an ingredient on the menu, but I guess the chef wanted to get a little creative with the veggies when he should have gotten a little more creative with the seasonings. Didn't taste like there was even a pinch of salt in anything. We told our server and there was a very insincere apology for what had happened. I work food service as well. I get it, the chef messing up isn't your fault. But as the front of the house and a representative of your establishment, servers should show at least of little bit of sincerity to make it seem like you at least somewhat care about your customers. It seemed like our gal couldn't care less. Also, my dad had asked for an English muffin at the beginning of his meal and didn't receive it until he was finished. There were literally only 4 other small parties in the restaurant at the time. The funny thing is that I noticed our server constantly checking on the other parties but not us. She only came at the very end of our meal to talk about how much her daughters love the French toast as if that had anything to do with anything. I could tell she was scared of not getting tipped well. After witnessing myself how she interacted with the other customers (all white people) compared to my family, and how poorly she and handled the mistakes with our food, she better not be surprised at her tip. I don't know what it is but I have a feeling that these employees are just burnt out. They don't seem as if they want to be of service or attentive anymore. Both the chefs and waitstaff need some training. This place is way too inconsistent so I won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

I ALWAYS give a restaurant 3 chances...especially one that has just opened. I have gone there for breakfast & dinner so far. The breakfast was ok...hard to screw up bacon & eggs. At that visit, the service was good. We went there for dinner the other night & the experience was so awful that I am seriously considering breaking my 3 time rule. It was complete chaos...literally. One server was rushing around like she didn't know which way she should go. There were verbal confrontations amongst the staff. You could hear the owner yelling at the cook in the back. The lack of professionalism was embarrassing & uncomfortable. I ordered a burger. The presentation was awful. The bun looked almost like a pancake. Everything was all skewed about the plate so I had to try to put my burger back together. The fries were cold & unseasoned. My burger was rare...which I don't mind but if you don't like it that way, make sure you tell them. I was never asked. My kids had the chicken fingers which were so over cooked that they were inedible. My husband had the meatloaf with "mashed" potatoes & broccoli. Not only were his potatoes barely mashed but they were full of hard chucks of undercooked potatoes. The meatloaf was cold(his pet peeve) & his broccoli was pretty much raw. There was so much noticeable confusion amongst the staff that I asked the server what was the issue. She said someone had called in sick and they were short staffed. I was disappointed to say the least. I give 3 shots, most people just give you one. I SO wanted this restaurant to work!! We need another good place in the area. My husband says he will never go back. Perhaps I will give them a third try...but maybe I'll wait a year. read more
