This place was delicious and really exceeded my expectations. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the place was packed the entire hour and a half our group was there. I ordered the French toast and loved that it came with bacon or sausage and eggs. Most breakfast places make you order that on the side. The strawberry jam was delicious. My boyfriend and I aren't locals and we came to Shellys as a recommendation from our host, and we weren't disappointed! Shellys staff is friendly and accommodating! I asked what flavor of milkshakes they offer and our waiter told us just to name a flavor! I got caramel and my boyfriend got strawberry and they were classic heavy-duty milkshakes that were delicious. My boyfriend got a burger and the one he ordered came with lots of peppers which he enjoyed! I got the Caesar salad and added chicken which I regretted because I was so full from the milkshake! The corned beef hash had lots of corned beef and my dish was served piping hot. I'm a slow eater so my biscuit cooled down but my server offered to warm it up for me! How great is THAT? First time trying this restaurant out and we were impressed. Staff was friendly and engaging. We were told that the wait would be a bit long for a table, which we were ok with. (It was Mother's Day). The host then brought out menus with crayons for our kids, which was really thoughtful. They seated us faster than quoted and waitstaff was quick to get to us. Coffee was brought around every 5 minutes and it was good coffee. French toast, pancakes, eggs, bacon were all tasty and my husband's Spanish scramble was delicious. Great place for breakfast. Will have to come back again for lunch or dinner. Tempted to put in a complaint about something over which the restaurant has no control over, like it was overcast outside or the parking spaces are small, only because I like the owner's responses to previous reviews that contained ridiculous complaints. . Terrible. Just absolutely terrible service. I really hate playing the race card but most definitely felt racist undertones from both Shelly and her wait staff. How is it my party of 3 we're clearly first inline waiting to be seated and the waitstaff goes to seat the white group first? Then after after being seated and waiting 35 minutes we decided to leave upon learning the same white group was served their meals. We were yet to be waited on. When speaking to Shelly she made a lousy excuse of being under staffed. First time here, found just on Yelp when looking for a place for brunch with my parents and godmother. Be prepared to wait if going on a Sunday, they're quite popular, but worth the wait! The service was prompt and friendly, but not pressuring. The food was absolutely delicious. But the real reason I'm here to leave a review (which I normally don't do) and with five stars is because of the unique experience we had. The power went out while we were there, and did not come back on before we left. Luckily for us, we already had our food, but what impressed me was the service to all the other customers who didn't have their food yet. The servers were calm and collected, bringing the food out as soon as it was ready, explaining that they couldn't bring it all at once because the heater wasn't working with the power outage. The staff were all incredibly friendly and personable. I went to use the restroom before we left and had to use my flashlight on my phone, and a staff member was going to show me where the light switch was before she realized I had a flashlight because of the power outage. Another staff member complimented me on my outfit which I greatly appreciated. Overall...I just have to say FIVE STAR EXCELLENCE, and that truly is a rare thing. No one panicked with the power outage, no one was rushed out, they handled it beautifully. read more

The method in which this restaurant is run is rather odd. We came in for Sunday breakfast, so we expected it to be busy, which it was. We were seated shortly after arriving and told that someone would be around to bring waters and take our drink order. While we were waiting for that, a 4 top was seated 4 minutes after us, and then a 3 top 5 minutes after that. The 4 top was brought waters and their drink order taken, and then the 3 top. I told my husband I wanted to leave, but one minute later someone brought us water and took our drink order. While we were waiting for our coffees, the other two tables sat after us had their orders taken. The woman who took our drink order brought our coffees and only then asked if we needed cream. Six minutes after that, our order was taken. While waiting for our meals, I was watching the restaurant and realized that there was only one person actually serving tables. There is one person who seats and takes payment, two people who bus and bring/refill drinks, and one person who actually serves 12+ tables. In the 7+ years I spent serving, I've never seen an establishment run their business in such an awkward and inefficient manner. The eggs Benedict itself was good, the eggs were poached properly, but the hash browns were very crunchy on the outside and mushy on the inside with an overall strange flavor. The monte cristo was good as well, but again, the hash browns were not. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

This place has the worst service, food is awful and over priced. I had to ask to get my water refilled 3 times before it was actually filled, when I told the server nicely she said well we're really busy. There were only 3 tables filled. My "fancy grilled cheese" was not melted and the cheese tasted like it had freezer burn. I have been to shellys a number of times for breakfast and once for dinner. Always had very friendly and efficient servers and great food. But this last visit 3/9/17 930 am the server seated me promptly and asked if I wanted coffee while looking over the menu, my response was yes. The server then left and seated another table and got them coffee, I'm still waiting for my coffee. About 10 min later she brought me coffee. After deciding on my food choice I turned to reading the daily paper. After about 30 min of being seated with my coffee empty I noticed the server bussing tables, and chatting up other customers. Still waiting to order and with a empty coffee cup I decided I waited long enough so I placed $2 on table for the one cup of coffee and left to eat at another place. read more

We showed up with 5 adults and 3 ornery kids straight off a 3 hour flight early in the morning and this place was great to us. They were patient accommodating and the food was fantastic. The portions are ridiculous huge. The bloody marys were fantastic. The wait staff was SO sweet and super accommodating to all the kids. At first when we pulled up we though we made a mistake, it's nothing to look at from the outside and the area is out of the way but the reviews don't lie, it's a great spot for a really good meal and outstanding service. read more

We LOVED this restaurant! The food was delicious and the help was attentive, but not in a creepy way. We had Chicken Parmigiana and the turkey dinner and both were delicious. Great food. I had the country fried steak with eggs over easy, hash browns, and a biscuit. Wow. Eggs were done perfectly, biscuit was light and fluffy (served with whipped butter and strawberry jam), hash browns were good. The country fried steak was tender and breading was golden brown - tasted wonderful although it was a little too greasy. Husband had a burger done gluten free and the waitress was knowledgeable about gluten free needs. My sister tried the monte christo sandwich (she said it was phenomenal, can't believe she ate the whole thing), brother in law had the Bigfoot burger, said the fries were fantastic although the burger was too big fit in his mouth and that's quite an accomplishment. I really liked it in the past but today I had a very disappointing breakfast. My over medium eggs were barely cooked and very runny. The potatoes were off tasting and not edible. The chicken fried steak was barely seasoned. Very good biscuits. Service was friendly and I was offered a substitute for the potatoes. Maybe just a bad day. read more
