La Pa is not only a Bozeman staple, it is some of the best burritos in the valley. They offer a great selection of huge burritos topped off with either chicken, steak, or veggies. I typically order the wrap of khan with veggies and 5 lines of stash (hot) sauce to the burrito for a spicy meal. Burritos are filling, unique, and are only one of the options you have along several others which I haven't tried yet, like tacos or bowls. First off the staff was nice and helpful. I got the khan burrito. It was just ok. Didn't have much flavor but it was also HUGE! The check out counter was super dirty and gross which is right next to the extras they add to your food. It definatly needs to be wiped down under and around the register. The employee with the blue hair (didn't have a name tag) was very rude. This was our first and last visit. We went inside, looked at the menu and proceeded to order our food. She told us that we needed to go outside and order through their window. Another employee, very courteous young lady, told her that she would take our order and that we didn't have to go outside. It didn't bother me that much UNTIL I realized that customers that came in several minutes after us were not told to do the same thing. The food was great but terrible service from this one employee. Fish tacos were breaded but slimy and overloaded with so much cabbage slaw that I couldn't even taste the fish. The tortillas were insanely dried out. Husband had a steak burrito that was mostly flavorless rice. I've never written a restaurant review before (ever) and the only reason I'm going to do this one is because I left La Parrilla visibly upset after my first encounter with them. As a first time customer my girl and I were standing there obviously looking unsure of how they wanted us to go through the ordering process. Rather than being friendly or helpful, the long hair young man applying toppings was the definition of aloof; 1: Not friendly or forthcoming; cool and distant. 2: Conspicuously uninvolved and uninterested, typically through distaste. After initially ordering our burritos we thought we were done. I was staring at the "Tipping is not just for cows" sign when he called us back, without eye contact, mumbling, "what do you guys want on your burritos?" From the beginning he was tangibly irritated to have to serve me and while it was obvious that I did not know what a lot of the options even were he did not bother to offer help on what the unlabeled toppings even were. When I asked for queso he smirked and corrected me that it was sour cream. When my girl asked for "corn stuff" he corrected her derisively that it was salsa (I would have liked to have known that there were multiple salsa options when I ordered mine). Maybe he was trying to joke with us but that is not how it came across when his demeanor was far from friendly. As far as the girl at the register goes, she was the epitome of brusque. When my lady tried to pay she dismissed her with, "give me a minute." No eye contact, no smile, no "thank you" and again with an air of irritation. When I had to go back in to get some sauce for may ladies burrito because the server failed to mention that it was available, I approached the counter and made eye contact. Rather than offer assistance the cashier pushed past me and yelled to her supervisor that she was going to the bathroom. Unreal. I may come across as unreasonable or thin skinned to many who are reading this. I have left many places indifferent about my service, but this is the only time I have ever been angered by how I was treated by the service at any restaurant. 2.5 stars fusion is definitely an apt description, given that la pa is even more americanized than qdoba or chipotle. i really want to like this place, but i can't get past the fact that my burrito was so wet that there was a pool of liquid 2 mm deep in my tray by the time i was done eating. the lettuce was old and limp, my steak had no seasoning, and i'm pretty sure the beans were straight from the can because they had absolutely no flavor. beyond that, the cooking/prep area was sloppy and the seating area cramped. Extremely rude staff...at least one girl was...she was more interested in painting trash cans than serving customers. After she seemed irritated that she was taken away from her painting, she made our food...never saw her wash her hands now that I think about it. Given her rudeness, we neglected to leave a "tip" on our receipt to which she made a comment "thanks a lot for the tip". Felt very uncomfortable. We were camping on Bozeman and wanted to get away from the campground for a while. I'm gluten-free and they put the burrito contents in a bowl without the wrap. My husband had the Alfredo Burrito and I had the Santa Fe. So, so, so good! The fusion of Mexican, Indian, Italian, etc at this place is amazing. I though maybe they had an off day or the main cook was sick so lets go back and give them another try. So while I can say the staff was friendly the food was just so flavorless. This has honestly been the most dull food I have had in the valley and I don't know how they have so many high rated reviews. I had a chicken burrito, my wife had a beef burrito I believe and my son had a quesadilla. No one wanted to finish the food, even a sprinkle of salt would have done wonders. I tried the house made salsa, very bland as well and it seemed like a decent amount of heat but lacked any flavor. Also for the price (over thirty bucks) for the three of us I was wishing I had gone to Chipotle, Qdoba or even Fiesta Mexicano. This is some pretty good grub! They have pretty big wraps and burritos and the salads will fill you up as well. I've only been here twice and loved it both times. The guys making the food get it done so fast you can't believe there's already a big burrito in front of you. Great choices with some very unique combinations to choose from. Love LaPa. Great way to chase off hunger. Hard to beat a chicken classic with guac. It's a pretty small place so lunch time can get pretty wild. In response to the management of my review... I have gone to la pa with 1 to 4 people almost weekly and I can assure you that everything I said was accurate!!! The employees are constantly too stoned!!! And we have had employees touch their hair with gloves then continue grabbing items out of the burrito bar. Oh yes I've found hair in my food before and so have my friends. Most of the people who have grown up in this town have at least several stories about an aggravating or gross situation dealing with either the food or the staff at la pa.
