We had reservations with their set menu which charges per person for a lunch event but reasons caused more than a handful of people to not be able to attend. The owner Majid Bina, Mahmoud Bina and manager Talin Serafino are liars and very dishonest. They overcharged us for our party and did not serve enough food to our guests. They told us will refill the serving plates as many times as needed. Not only didn't do that but refused to put out enough food. We and our guests will never go back to this restaurant. Ordered takeout (a large order of $120) the other night and was sorely disappointed. The food was clearly not up to usual/past standards. Every single person complained about the quality. We immediately called and asked to speak to a manager and were brushed off - told there is no manager/person in charge on duty (interesting). When we called and spoke to the owner the next day, not only was he less than pleasant, he demanded to see the food in order to assess it. No apology. Nothing. Quite disrespectful. He did not offer to send someone to pick it up - we had paid for delivery for a reason, it's clearly covid and we don't want to be exposed. As a vegetarian I miss being able to eat my favorite dishes from my childhood. Shiraz offers a lot of my favorite comfort dishes that are vegetarian. I love the taste of the dishes. Sometimes it just doesn't taste the same but you can't even tell these are vegetarian. The staff are so friendly and very attentive. The catering service is great. We always order from here. This restaurant provides extremely poor customer service, with some waiters displaying obnoxious and rude behavior. During my father's funeral luncheon, the owner's lack of consideration set the tone for the staff's disrespectful attitude. Our guests, arriving post-Cemetery, discovered unset seats, and the owner falsely claimed they were early. Elderly guests who have visible walking impairments and disabilities were asked to step outside while appetizers were placed on tables, and one employee, i believe named Christian, even asked my distraught elderly mom to leave the table until he placed appetizers down. Iv seen many other venues serve platters while guests are sitting. Was it really necessary to ssk elderly individuals to stand up, go outside? Additionally, the minimal food portions were embarrassing in front of our guests. Zero empathy from the owner. Beyond disrespectful! Once upon a time 2 to 8 years ago (before the pandemic), Shiraz use to be the best Persian restaurant along Rafis. We had many family events there and memorable memories. Unfortunately after the pandemic hit early 2020, all went downhill since then from service and the taste+quality of the food. The staff was friendly and attentive. They took very good care of me and had nice conversations with me about the food. The pita bread with radish, onions and mint leaves was really refreshing. I don't normally eat raw onions or radishes but I'm not afraid to try something new. This was worth it as I learned I like the combination. I had other dishes as well that were all very delicious . This place should have a line out the door. I remember eating here as back as 30 years ago and it's still the best tasting kebob in town. Puts both of the competition around it to shame. The Luleh koobiden kebob is the best in town. Authentic tasting food not the commercialized kebob in the area. If you want to taste real authentic dishes then I suggest Shiraz. Been going here with my family since I was a little kid, so I've seen it transform from a small mom and pop operation to what it is now. The food is top notch, you can't go wrong with anything you order here, but what I always, without a doubt, think about first when I go here is their Ashe Mast soup. There are tons of Persian restaurants in LA, so you can get all the basic dishes anywhere, but nowhere else does Ashe Mast like this place. My go-to is the boneless Cornish chicken (hen), but I've never been disappointed with anything I've tried there. Writing a review almost seems unfair to me, I am just a too big fan of Raffi's and The Lemon Zest, places I have been to a zillion times. Yesterday a friend "dragged" us for lunch - what a pleasant surprise. From the ambiance​, it easily presides over Raffi's. I can not wait to see this place in the evenings, so if you are in for a romantic date, this is the place to go. The food was good, the service hard to be found in this otherwise almost empty restaurant (we came in an odd time, I got to add). I would certainly go again - so four stars. For five stars I would have to be ready to make a 30+ min detour, and I am not sure I'd do that. Then, I am not the biggest fan of mediteranean food, so this is not the restaurant's​​ fault (but I said, it's not going to be 100% fair). This was my first time trying Shiraz. My husband and I came on Sunday at 5pm and it was pretty empty. The wait staff was very nice and came by often to refill our waters and ask if we needed anything. For appetizers, we ordered the mast mosier and the eggplant kaviar. Both were very delicious! They brought it with some bread, butter and a plate of onions and greens. For dinner, I ordered the chicken barg and my husband got the beef soltani. The chicken was good but a little dry and needed some salt. The beef luleh kabob was very delicious but dry. The steak barg was really good. Wow, we had been coming here for years and we decided to have a memorial luncheon for our grandfather here given it was my grandfathers favorite place. We had about 90 guests, we coordinated with the restaurant and planned for additional add-ons to their package like barg and Persians stews. Let's talk about what went wrong: 1) guests arrived and their was no soap at the restrooms, we had to beg for soap 2) the food arrived cold 3) the wait staff was minimal and insufficient 4) the add-ons never came with the lunch (like previously planned with the management staff) and we were embarrassed in front of our guests, given their package was minimal. 5) and then after everything, homeboy over here wants an additional percentage for tips to the staff (in addition to the agreed upon amount), but why? My grandfather is rolling over in his grave knowing the type of food we served as his memorial luncheon. PS - I wanted to attach an image of the RAW meat that was served to us, but my family being a small business owner ourselves, asked that I not include the pic in this post.
