What a happy little find in San Ramon! Shish Grill is tucked away off Bollinger Canyon Road near Sports Basement. Visiting on a cold rainy night, they weren't too busy but I could see this small spot being quite popular and busy during lunch times. There were a few other diners sitting but there were a ton of call in orders and pick ups happening during the approximate hour we were here. They have a really good deal on the falafel plate-for $11.99 you get a cup of lentil soup, rice, chopped tomato & cucumbers, pita bread and 4 falafel patties. It's a lot of food and there were definitely leftovers. The soup was very flavorful and filling-perfect for a winter evening. I believe you can opt for a salad instead of soup but trust me, the soup is a must-try. The falafel were amazing-well seasoned, crispy on the outside and fluffy and warm on the inside-some of the best I've had in a while. The rice seemed to be seasoned with some saffron and a great side option. My boyfriend got a chicken shwarma wrap and fries ($8.99) which he really enjoyed. It seems to be a family run business and everything cooked to order. Located in an unassuming shopping plaza, Shish Grill is a slightly hidden gem that is affordable and yummy. Totally compliments and brings the seasoning of the meal altogether for an incredible burst of flavor. I'm asking for a quadruple portion of this sauce the next time I go. Tried this place based on so many good reviews but not sure what they are based on. Good customer service but the meal is just average, more leaning towards negative. I was more disappointed with the portion size and the price. Portion of their kofta plate with salad is overpriced (over $15 incl. tax), but it is really not enough for one person. I don't eat much but was still hungry after eating lunch. Meat tasted ok but it was cold. Rice - nothing special, served just warm. Salad (hardly any served!) - too soggy. I got the Vegetarian plate- which included wrapped grape leaves, hummus, falafel, and baba ghanouj along with Pita Bread and a side of soup. The portion sizes are pretty substantial and so are the flavors. I got the falafel sandwich with a salad on the side. The food was on point. The falafels were delicious, the pita was crispy and chewy, and the salad had a nice dressing. I was definitely stuffed by the end of the meal. The service is really good here as well. I was really craving some kabobs, and happened to spot this place from the road while driving around looking for a spot. SO GLAD i did, the people were very friendly, and the food was hella good! Got the kabob combo plate which came with chicken, lamb, and kefta kabobs. All were tender and juicy. Generous portions of meat, rice and hummus. Next time I will try a shwarma. First time visit & I opted for both the #11, Spicy Chicken (dubbed, "Chef's Favorite") w/ rice & salad (included) & a #12, Lavash Wrap... Plucked from the Menu: 11. Spicy Chicken: Chef's Favorite! Chicken breasts cubes, stir-fried with onions, bell peppers, roasted garlic and own shish grill hot sauces, served with Shish specialty garlic sauce. 12. Lavash Wrap: A mixture of ground beef and lamb, spread on pita bread, topped with onions, tomatoes, and parsley and Shish specialty garlic sauce... Descriptions alone were enough to narrow down my selections, though helpful Yelper's also posted pics which made my decision even easier... Order was placed To-Go over the phone & I showed up about 15 minutes prior to their advertised closing time @ around 7:45PM. Chef (I'm assuming the owner?) was at the grill along w/ another employee assisting who also manned the register. Though it was close to closing, there were folks at the tables & others trailing in behind me (definitely a good sign). I was also immediately greeted with a smile & told my order was being bagged up... To the right of the register was a mini fridge with a handful of drinks, including "Chabaa" Mango Nectar (Does Mr. Loverman, circa 1992 ring a bell, or is it just me?) which I grabbed as an impulse buy... Arrived at the house to unwrap the beautifully presented dishes... Snapped a few pics (hands trembling in anticipation) & immediately dug-in, beginning w/ the Lavash wraps. They tasted JUST AS GOOD as they looked. Pita bread was fresh w/ a grilled/crispy exterior (basically, everything a Panini wished it was, but wasn't)... To quote "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", Truly Scrumptious... Though the dish is served w/ rice by default, I requested to sub-fries (lightly seasoned, piping hot & CRISPY)... Though I had the #12 to myself, I STILL had this enormous plate of Spicy Chicken also calling my name... The Lavash Wraps I treated as an appetizer (ate 3 slivers), then moved on to the "Chef's Favorite..." Once again, beautiful presentation... Chicken breast pieces were very well prepared/seasoned along w/ the roasted veggies, all having a wonderful texture (seasoned in a way that they could've been eaten solely on their own), sitting atop a pillowy bed of rice... Washed all of this down with the Chabaa Mango Nectar (totally dug the bits of fruit) + (of course), a baklava for dessert being the icing on the cake... I'm in food coma this very moment, but couldn't wait to put my experience to paper... The staff is supper friendly, even though the kid at the counter can mess up your order every now and again, but I think he's learning. Plus who cares when you have quality of food of that kind. I was there a few days and got BOTH the lamb and the chicken Shawarma. They were both great tasting and WHOLE. (one major issues for these wraps is that they can become very soggy. but not here). I find the rice to be thick, starchy and heavy. I've ordered the spinach pies which came with 3 small pieces and were $10. I've ordered food via Uber Eats a few times and they don't always tie or seal the bag, which is annoying because the last time it looked like my driver ate some of my fries and messed with some of the food containers. When I called the restaurant to complain, they told me to contact Uber Eats - even though it was their fault for not tying/sealing the bag like all restaurants do with delivery services. read more

I stopped by on a whim at this newly opened restaurant with my wife. Ordered a Chicken shawarma sandwich and a felafel plate. When paying, the cashier made a couple of accounting errors for which I called her on it. As my food came to the table , the lentil soup was delicious. A few minutes later, the owner Nancy came to our table and brought us our main course. She apologized for the cashiers error and told us that she had extra felafel to make up for the errors and explained that their POS was not yet activated, hence the errors. The food was flavorful, although the falafel could be a bit more moist. She had the waiter check on us and at the end also brought us each a baklava. The baklava was fresh, home made and Devine !
