Highly recommend for a special occasion! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, and we had an amazing time. The food was so tasty, the service was fantastic, and they give you a ton of food! I ordered the salmon with veggies and rice, which was incredibly delicious and a huge portion. My boyfriend got the steak, and he is still talking about how good it was! Watching the chef cook our food right in front of us added a really fun, entertaining element to the night. We left completely full and can't wait to go back!

    These are not yakisoba noodles!

We used to really like dining there as well as ordering takeout but the last few times have been a big let down. Most recent experience is the whole reason I'm here, I ordered yakisoba but got fettuccine noodles that were dried out & the rest of our steaks were grossly under seasoned. It seems like every time we go or order takrout I keep going through something and that something isn't just enjoying our food. I've given them multiple chances so now here I am.... done with that location.

My family and I came to Shogun Restaurant for New Year's Day dinner. We were hoping to set the hibachi dinner, but they were full and we didn't think about making a reservation for the hibachi. We ended up staying and just ordering off their menu. We did order the hibachi meals and honchos basically the same food minus the show. Food (3/5 stars): - Hibachi New York Steak: nothing special, asked for medium steak, served nearly well done steak. Comes with miso soup, salad, grilled veggies, yakisoba and steamed rice - Hibachi Teriyaki Chicken: nothing special, comes with same starters and sides as the New York Steak above. - Shogun Roll: very tasty, probably the best thing I ate here. - Baked Mussels: flavorful, good appetizer if you like mussels. They have an extensive menu, soy may be difficult to make your meal choice. They have a Happy Hour Food and Drinks Menu (available everyday from 3pm-Close) with $4, $6 and $9 items. Service (3.5 stars): Hibachi was not available without reservation, but my fault for not thinking I would need a reservation on New Years Day. Waiter was pretty attentive, but I knock off a star for error on my bill (was charged full price for the baked muscles $13 vs the $6 happy hour price). Ambiance (4 stars): the hibachi area is fairly noisy, but expected due to the performances and the noise from cooking. They have another side room for non-hibachi customers by the bar which is much more quiet. I can't rare the hibachi show meal, but but the hibachi meal without the show is basically the same food and is not really worth the price to me unless you had the show as the quality/taste of the food is not that great. Based on the Shogun Roll and the Baked Mussels, I'm sure other menu items would be much better. The Happy Hour Menu has some good deals if you come after 3pm. If you follow them on IG and post a picture of your meal, they will give you a free dessert.

We decided to try this new hibachi spot, but honestly, it's hard to beat Mikado, and we were right. The food was just okay, nothing that really stood out or made us feel like we'd found a new favorite. We couldn't help but miss our go-to place the entire time. What really brought the rating down was the price. For what we got, it felt extremely overpriced, especially compared to other hibachi options in town that offer better quality for less. The one thing this place does have going for it is the ambiance. It's classy, comfortable, and definitely less crowded than the competitors, which made the dining experience more relaxed. But overall, it didn't live up to the hype. The cook was also entertaining and different from the typical hibachi show. If you want the "chef's gone wild" experience ask for Joe S.

This Shogun restaurant is among the best places we visited here in Palm Desert! Authentic environment, fresh seafood, as well as great service attitude, everything made it a must try restaurant! We visited here on Feb 17 to celebrate the Chinese New Year holiday. We were warmly greeted by the reception and waitresses. They even prepared a surprising gift for our 6 year old boy as he was a little afraid of the "volcano" on the food! Look at the chicken toy. My son was so happy to meet his new friend! We enjoyed our new year dinner so much! We will come back!

It was a hot day in the valley. And walking in here felt hotter than outside. Temperaturewise it felt like there was no AC plus they're cooking infront of you so it was just extremely hot. I went on a double date. My friend was sweating a lot. My husband was so hot he didn't want to even eat. The sides were good such as the salad, soup, rice, noodles, veggies. We order a filet medium rare and they cooked it well done unfortunately. I ordered a specialty drink and it melted so fast and watered down. Maybe if i came during the winter it would be a better experience? The server Letty was very nice!

The food is good however, the drinks were poorly made. You could tell the bar tender did not have help. The service was fine. Our server was very nice and friendly but that didn't make up for the lack of actual service required for a party of 11 people. When we sat we were approached yes but not with water. After 10-12 minutes someone in our party had to ask the bar for water directly while going to the bathroom. It took another 15 before we got our alcoholic drinks. Appetizers didn't come out and teppanyaki chef took a long while and had incorrect counts for food. Sushi took significantly longer because our server didn't time it right. Very disappointed in our experience considering the 3 other staples have always been consistent and inviting. Management was worried about corporate standing rather than customer satisfaction or loyalty. I tried to speak with her (Stephanie) numerous times but it was all about her job security not the customer. Sad to see.

First of all--CHEF AARON IS AMAZING!!! He made our vacation 100x cooler, best chef we've ever had. This restaurant is also by far the best hibachi place we've come across. Happy hour prices are insane, you get so much more food for what you actually pay for. Cheaper compared to other hibachi spots for sure, delicious quality meat, seafood, and appetizers. Gorgeous place inside and out, it was the perfect dinner spot for our 4 year anniversary.

Happy our menu and our sushi chef!

Best Sushi Chef in the Valley!! Manny is top chef here! Creative custom rolls and excellent service!! Come meet Manny and taste for yourself!

Food quality is not the best overall. However the entertainment was unique with different jokes and tricks. It was very pricey for the quality of food. Sauces were all a bit different than the usual.

We went to Shogun in Palm Desert while celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We were seated and offered beverages. The manager came by and spoke with us for a while, he was very friendly and pleasant. He was sharing a story about his travels and the opportunity to do so with his company- lots of longevity there. The food was presented and prepared in the traditional teppanyaki style. We shared a sushi appetizer that was very good and then we both had the filet and shrimp dinner and of course we had to get the fried rice. The chef was fun and engaged the whole table. I had to get the kitty cat souvenir cup as well! So much fun. My only "wish" was that they acknowledged our anniversary, other than that it was great.

    chef ALEX

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! The other family whom Chef ALEX given extra food to did not even directly tip him after he was finished. I would've tipped him directly if my family was being treated the same but there seems to be "favoritism". Reserved for 6pm today for Mother's Day Sunday, 05/10/2026. We were seated upon arrival but Chef ALEX did not begin until 6:50pm. Chef ALEX did some tricks, cool. Unlike the 1st time when visiting this location, chef at the time did not do tricks nor talk at all, seriously. Although, I did like chef ALEX tricks. There were some things that I did not like after. Chef ALEX kept giving extras (fried rice, shrimps, and teriyaki chicken) to the other family at the table!! He only cared to ask the husband & wife. He never cared to ask my family if we wanted extras!! Chex ALEX only talked to the other family (family lives in Coachella, son goes to La Quinta HS, young daughter is 4, wife, & husband)!!!! He never bothered to ask my family (my 5 year old, me, my elderly father, & elderly mom) anything!!! Seriously??? My daughter was waiting for you to talk to her too!!!!! She even told her grandpa after that she was waiting for you to talk to her Chef Alex is Hispanic, other family is Hispanic, however my family is non-Hispanic. Maybe they can "vibe" due to cultural similarities hmm Aside from the chef, I was being charged $2/extra egg! What??!! This business is not aware that egg prices have gone down!! Also that man/husband from the other family got free fried rice as "extra" unlike me who had to pay because I requested it. My dad wanted the extra fried rice but chef ALEX gave it to the guy instead because he only asked him!!! WILL NEVER BE BACK!!!!!!!! KOBE'S IS WAY BETTER!!!!!! ALSO THEY GIVE FREE DESERT AFTER UNLIKE THIS BUSINESS!!!!!

We just wanted a drink before dinner so no food was had. From the looks of the dishes that were coming out, they looked really nice. Tapas style dishes made for sharing. With happy hour, there was a couple dishes that was included. Also they offered a deal with a charcuterie board and a bottle included. We just went with a glass of their house red and white. And an order of spicy margaritas. It's a full bar so that was nice. Margaritas were great and house wine was decent. The service was great with the bartender who was a doll and very sweet. Made drinks and still had time to come check out on people. It was still early but it did pick up for happy hour which is from 5-6 right when they open. The place was quite nice and well decorated. We got there exactly an hour before closing and planned to just get some sandwiches. We weren't greeted when we walked in, there was only one other table of diners. But it's the off-season so we weren't really too concerned, we weren't directed to any seats so we just picked a table. The lady behind the counter came over with full menus, and we were excited to peruse, however she then said they are only serving salads for the day because they are closing in 30 minutes. We didn't think sandwiches would really be a problem to make, but I guess they weren't really concerned about getting as much business as they could for the day. It felt rushed and unwelcoming like we were bothering her by coming in an hour before closing. It's unfortunate because the place has an otherwise cozy feel. I'm not sure if we will make the effort to come back because it was inconvenient to drive over, park in the heat and then have to leave because they were closing early and weren't offering 90% of the menu. Hope this place survives because it is charming, but the service seems strange, I would think any business would want to make good money, especially when it's already slow in the off-season. Oh well.

Every course was it's own special experience. We were treated like it was our birthday or anniversary, but as it turns out we were lucky enough to show up on their one year anniversary. Never have I been to such a new restaurant that not only had all the kinks worked out, but provided superior service with such a delicious gourmet menu.
