Shootz is one of my favorite places to go get a plate of chicken katsu plate with a side of mac salad. The main attraction to this restaurant is their popular Kimchi butter that they use on a majority of their items. Although they do not have matcha, Shootz is definitely worthy of 5 stars on Yelp and a recommendation to anybody who hasn't tried their food. Eating here today was a Christmas miracle. I've had Shootz at the Stanton location before and I loved it. I think this location is still working out its kinks since they're relatively new. The main difference that I noticed is that the batter of the kimchi butter katsu didn't have much flavor. I remember it having a strong buttery flavor with a hint of spice in every bite but the chicken this time was bland, even though the color was there. That said, their spam brulee musubi did not disappoint. I also loved the mac salad but if you don't like tuna then I wouldn't recommend it. It was my first time eating at a Shootz, and I went to their Whittier location inside Rodeo 72. I used a voucher to redeem a spicy katsu chicken sando. The chicken was big and crispy, but it wasn't too spicy. Also, the baste wasn't too buttery, which I was a little concerned of. Overall, it's a savory chicken sandwich delicious to eat. After finishing the sandwich, I thought if I wanted to order anything else from other restaurants in the food court. There was no need, however, because the sandwich was pretty filling just by itself. The staff member taking care of orders had a friendly demeanor. I got my food quickly too. Finding parking was a little inconvenient. I couldn't find any spaces nearby the food court, so I parked by a larger shopping plaza. Although I didn't have to walk far, it took longer than expected to find parking even near the adjacent gym and supermarket. If you love loads of flavors then this is for you! Sweet, salty, savory, flavorful with a nice crunch you name it. My friend brought me here to try it out after she tried it at another location. We got the chicken & shrimp kimchi butter rice. I was surprised at the ratio of protein vs rice. Most restaurants load up on rice and give very little protein to fill the plate or simply profit more. Here it's like the opposite. Of all the times at other restaurants though, I would actually rather have a bit more rice due to how much flavor this has. It's great but the rice helps to even it out. The flavors were very good but will say it's a bit hearty and heavy for me. Although I am rating as quality and flavors and not simply by preference as that will then become a bias review. So don't get me wrong, if my body and organs allow me to eat it all without effecting my waistline, I would probably finish my order all by myself! We also got the brûlée musubi which was also good. Inside Rodeo 72! I've always wanted to try this place so we finally found the stomach space to give it a go. I got the #1 which was the kimchi butter chicken katsu plate with 2 spam musubis and a drink for $22 after tax. Solid deal after polishing a few beers at the bar there. They gave me the option to make the chicken katsu spicy, so I did, and boy it was some real heat. The rice was seasoned or sauced, that was a pleasant surprise I really enjoyed. I ate about half and had to tap out from the spice. Switched to the spam musubis which was very good cause the spam came coated in that sugary soy glaze. Super packed line but decent food! I think they were having trouble with their system so it took a bit longer but the cashier was super nice and friendly. My friend I shared a #2 bundle with the katsu chicken sando, 2 musubis, and a drink. They were out of fountain drinks by the time we came so I just got a water and my friend ordered a mint peach limeade. The sando was pretty good, but the sauce was pretty salty! The 2 musubis were also really small (1 musubi here is like half the size of a regular musubi) and the drink we got was pretty sweet. I was kind of disappointed because the kimchi butter was heavily advertised but I didn't taste any kimchi. This place gets super packed so it can be hard finding a table but overall the chairs are comfy and maintenance crew goes around periodically cleaning so nothing gets super dirty. read more

I ordered the #1 combo and it came with chicken katsu, 2 spam musubi, and a drink. The chicken katsu is very good with the meat being juicy and not dry or chewy. The kimchi butter sauce on top was just right, coating the generous chicken serving along with soaking into the fluffy rice below. Sliced scallions and sesame seeds topped off the plate and a side of cold macaroni salad with lots of paprika on top was included. I didn't eat the macaroni salad but now regretted a little not tasting it at least. The spam in the musubi was too small in portion to the hefty rice it came wrapped with, I ended up making tiny pieces of spam to go w my big spoonful of rice each bite. I got a can soda for my meal, but their drinks looked pretty good and I also caved and ordered the Mint Peach Limenade, was delicious without tasting like the fake powdered drinks some restaurants served. Price of the combo with the additional drink was about $27 included tax. Better than going to a drive thru for sure since you could end up spending that much easily. The foodhall had many tables spaced out with a variety of seatings indoor and outdoor and we were able to grab a table quickly despite it being a busy Saturday. There was someone cleaning as people left but you could still take your trays to the trash and clear the table for the next group. Love this place! This is located in Rodeo 72, and we like to order online because it can get super crowded! The staff are super friendly, and they have a shelf next to their restaurant to pick up the food. If you don't want to order online, they also have touch screens at their counter. Their buttery katsu is soo delicious! You can get regular or spicy, but I highly recommend their spicy flavor because it's much more flavorful. 5/20/25 - Shootz is one of the several restaurants inside of Rodeo 72. I ordered the Wavy Bundle #3 which consists of their kimchi butter shrimp plate, 2 spam brûlée musubi, and 1 canned drink. The wavy bundles are much better to buy price-wise as opposed to buying each item individually. The kimchi butter shrimp was rich in flavor, and I wish there were more in there. The spam musubi was a bit sweet due to the brûlée, but it was still really good. Be aware- the picture displayed on the menu makes everything seem a lot bigger than it is. But the wait to get our food was only 15 minutes or so, which gave us time to grab and table outside in the courtyard. I ordered the shrimp and chicken combo plate, which featured kimchi butter. I will say that on the plus side, both the shrimp and chicken katsu had a nice crunch to them. I ordered the dish with medium spice, which gave the dish a little kick to them. I am not sure I understand the appeal of kimchi butter. For one, I didn't really taste much kimchi. What I did taste was an overwhelming butter flavor that tended to overwhelm the dish, particularly the rice. Maybe it was just opening week issues, so I would be willing to come back and try the food again. read more

This is one of my go-to places when I eat at Rodeo 72. Their chicken sandwiches are decently sized and seasoned well. I also usually get the meal and upgrade to one of their specialty drinks! Service is always nice. Only negative is you can't get free refills (and the cups are a little small), and the spam musubis count as 2 when in reality it's 1 musubi cut in half. Their spicy is also sweat spicy if you know what I mean. I still come here regardless of the portioned food but hopefully they'll eventually give two normal size spam musubi or change their menu so it's not misleading. read more
