While hanging in Sedona, I found Shorebird's Instagram and set my sights on visiting. When I got there, I was asked if I had a reservation and met with just a bit of hesitancy when i said "no." Luckily, we were still able to be seated. The window backdrop set a beautiful scene as the rain came down. My husband and I ordered a couple appetizers, a sushi roll, and a taco platter to share, which was more than enough food! The server was friendly and helpful and the food was good though I had some notes. My husband (who is the sushi lover) felt the contents of the Catalina roll created a texture that was too "mushy." I however liked the roll. The green sauce that came along-side it was new to me and spectacularly tasty! The flavors of the carne adovada were perfect to me.. well except the actual meat. The pulled pork taste was giving me more bbq pulled pork vibes and less taco.. if I could change anything, it would have been the meat. I think I would have enjoyed the swordfish or steak tacos more. The wings were good too, but again the sweet flavor choice to me took away from the dish. I love a sweet wing sauce (love BBW's Asian zing) but this one was too sweet almost like a sweet and sour sauce, and I did not catch any of the garlic savory tones. The actual wings, however (before the sauce) were perfection! The deviled eggs were souped up and I loved the creativity. I'm sure deviled egg lovers would love them. Being that I am new to the deviled eggs lover crew, I thought it was just okay. Sooo much egg and heavy handed with the paprika. All other flavors were drowned. I know I listed many "notes" but I think that just the foodie in me. My husband and I really did enjoy our time at this restaurant and the food and uniqueness off the menu. Found this place on Yelp and really enjoyed our breakfast! Husband had the classic breakfast and I had the BLT&E. We were both very happy with the food. The BLT&E is messy but well worth it. A pretty light sandwich considering the size, it was wonderful! The cappuccino was good also. Really sad about our experience here. We arrived 15 minutes early to our reservation. Informed the hosts we were early. They were able to get us seated anyways which was nice. 15 minutes went by, and only water was brought to our table. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, as we were early to our reservation. 10 more minutes went by and still no one had come to our table. So we left. We were in town for 4th of July weekend and decided to give Shorebirds a try. My family was extremely impressed by the the modern decor, service, and of course the food! We had ordered the sea bass, filet mignon, Catalina Roll, Tuna Eggroll, braised short rib(not pictured). All the food tasted extremely fresh. Drinks were also delicious. Filet Mignon - cooked medium rare well seasoned on a bed of mushroom risotto which was also flavorful. Sea bass - flakey and tasted fresh perfectly seasoned Catalina roll - fresh great balance of flavor Salmon sushi - fresh melt in your mouth like butter Tuna Eggroll - surprisingly really tasty Braised Short rib - topped with a poached egg. For a place that does not accept an out of house bottle and charge a corkage fee, their wine list is pretty pathetic, and the Cabernet I did order was microwave warm, undrinkable. Might want to either reconsider your corkage fee attitude, or get a better wine list and a wine fridge. read more

Nice ambiance, great view. Nice concept menu. Service is good and they make a good cocktail. However, execution on the food, especially sushi falls short and highlights inexperience in the kitchen. Oysters were west coast presented as East, server did ask and confirm west coast after my doubt. Issue was they were not fresh, all the liquor was poured out of them and they appeared to be rinsed, one was almost certainly dead and most had a fishy taste (oyster snob so trust me on this I know oysters). As for the sushi, the rice while seasoned decently was compacted so hardly by inexperienced hands that it had the consistency of dense pasta, fish quality seemed OK but on its last day or two of sellable quality. I think the concept is great, but the kitchen and food QC needs a little love. read more

Fantastic service by our server and pretty good food. I bit under seasoned but easily remedied with salt and pepper. However, I took a star away due to poor management of the dining room on 12/3. There was a flamboyantly belligerent drunk at the bar who was allowed to disrupt all guests shouting continuously. It appeared all guests were having a less than ideal dining environment, with some moving tables, requesting the guest to settle down or leaving early as we did. read more

We were visiting Sedona for a few days after my son played soccer in Tucson. After a long day of hiking, we decided to have a date night while the kids rested at our airbnb. This place is really nice inside and the view is amazing. Our server was friendly and engaged and did a great job taking care of us. To start, we had the avocado fries and oh MY GOODNESS. They were so good. There are six of them (more like wedges than fries) and they were laying on top of a thin layer of Green Goddess dressing. Yummy! For my entrée, I had the sword fish tacos. The portion was great. There were two swordfish steaks, a type of slaw, guacamole, and pico, plus a sauce. The tortillas were very small. I mean... Like I could take two bites and they would be gone. There was so much food that I asked for more taco shells. I didn't realize that this would be an upcharge but just a heads up... They charge two extra dollars for extra tortillas. My husband had the pork chop and thought it was amazing. He said it was a great combination of taste with brussels sprouts, apples, and possibly cranberries...? He loved it and ate every bite. I think it was a great dinner with a great view. I think that the prices were a bit much for what was given and considering the price of the tacos, I don't think an up charge for extra tortillas is necessary. Although everything was delicious, I think those are the most expensive tacos I've ever eaten in my whole life. Mr John this is no false accusation. Check your cameras . We had reservations at 6 pm . Arrived at 550 or earlier and the hostess did tell us that everyone in the outdoor had JUST been seated and that the wait would be about 1 hour and 30 min . Of course that is why we elected to sit inside . Please explain to me by the time our drinks arrived 2 other couples had just been sat outside . Granted this was at about 605 pm. Then even about 615 pm another couple sat outside . If it was not for my partner believe me I would have made a scene and just wanted an explanation from the hostess . So absolutely do not tell me I am saying any false accusations. You will be hearing from me I will be calling to get an apology and an explanation as to why this happened . I definitely felt like it was prejudice. As 2 of the 3 couples sat were Caucasian . Sir please check the name under Manka Saroay . She made the reservation and it was at 6 pm. Drove into Sedona from SoCal and was looking for a nice, but relaxing bite after 7 hours on the road. This place hit the spot. The service was a tad slow, but friendly and exceptionally helpful. Our party of four ordered two cocktails from their drink menu in addition to two drinks from the bar. The came out quickly and we launched into two appetizers for the table and added three entrees across the four folks. All were dishes were cooked well, served hot and brought out together - a feat that is not always easy to do. Exceptional! Went for my birthday last month. Arrived earlier than reservation time for a pre-dinner drink at bar. Opted for a smokey tequila margarita. It was interesting, complex and glass of pure deliciousness. They had great wine and liquor selections. For dinner, had a sea bass special. It was cooked perfectly, and served with a lovely lemon risotto. It was all full of flavor and so satisfying. My dining companion had a filet which was perfectly cooked as well. The manager Ryan's attentiveness to our dining experience was above and beyond. (Thank you!) I had left my phone at restaurant, and he was so incredibly generous that he offered to drop it off at our hotel lobby in his way home from work after closing. Wow, how nice. A great experience from top to bottom. Also the view is stunning and the restaurant is gorgeous with all the glass windows. My only disappointment is that I don't live anywhere near this so will be some time before I can return :) read more

Our entire experience was outstanding. From walking in and being greeted by the wonderful Shauna who made sure we got seated in what we considered to be the best spot in the house on the patio. She made sure to wish my bf extra birthday blessings every time she saw us and connect with us, we won't forget her for sure. Some of the best cocktails we've had in a long time to start the evening off. The unique cilantro lime salt rim was a game changer! The massive deviled eggs are delicious, I mean they have bacon on too which is an automatic yessss. The oysters were cold and fresh, could've been brinier but still good. The salmon belly nigiri was one of the best nigiri bites I've ever had. We had to order seconds and honestly I could've gone for thirds and fourth but othered an entree. Lol The braised short ribs were melt in your mouth tender on super creamy taters topped with an egg over easy!! I mean c'mon yum! The garlic roasted carrots were heavenly and would've loved for a double the serving, so good! The Chilean seabass over asparagus risotto with mushrooms was incredible to say the least. So light yet decadent at the same time. We finished with the brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel and the key lime pie with raspberry sorbet. Let me just tell you that I love key lime pie and have ordered it all over the country...this was hands down one of the absolute best ever! The pastry chef hand squeezes key limes for an HOUR! Talk about dedication to quality and boy does it show! The raspberry sorbet was oh so yummy and nice combo. I would've loved more crust but regardless it was 10/10. Brownie and ice cream was legit with perfect amount of caramel, not too much and not too little. Beautifully designed inside and everyone was wonderful. Came in for brunch, and was told that they ran out of our first choices. They come back later saying that they also ran out of some of our second choices. Again, minutes later they come back saying that their espresso machine is out. Then, they made a mistake on my bill (charged for an order we didn't make). Then when settling - credit card machine went on a reboot. If would have been all understandable, etc. if the food was good (having decided to stay rather than go find another place). Unfortunately, except for the sushi, the brunch was less than average (the food preparation looked rushed, the taste was bland, etc - not worth the price). Our reservation came about a recommendation from AMEX's fine dining app RESY and had a bit higher expectations (had a good experience with other RESY experiences). As the server told us, "sorry... it is just one of those days..." Yes, it's one of those days. Mine could have been a fluke (if it were indeed so - it would have been appreciated if there were any intent to make it a more satisfying experience for the diners). But that is not enough of a reason for me not to post a review of my 2-star experience. read more

The margs and wine selection was delicious. The black cod was to die for, crispy and melting! So good. I got the special Chilean sea bass with lemon risotto and asparagus. It was the best cut of fish prepared to perfection. The braised short rib dishes were delicious. We really enjoyed the ambience, the service and everything!!! We got the tacos, pork shoulder and vegetarian, which were really great. They give you the tortillas and let you assemble the tacos yourself which i actually enjoyed more.
