This is a special little place in Kimball Jct. it is very non-descript, and is nextdoor to Subway. Try it for lunch, and you'll be back for dinner!! I got a tempura veggie roll and a spicy tuna roll and both were absolutely delicious and at a much more reasonable price point than the other sushi places in town. This has to be the best sushi house in all of Park City, and mind you I have been to them all. The owner/chef is absolutely the best. The service is great!!! Though I only eat sushi here, I have been with friends who order the bento box for lunch or dinner and they love it. The fish is always fresh and yummy. Solid sushi spot! I travel a lot for work and sushi is a go to meal for me. While this wasn't the best sushi i have ever had it was definitely good sushi. Not spectacular but fresh, flavorful and well made. My pet peeve is any place that does a roll with tempura shrimp and leaves the tail piece on for the end piece. This place DOES IT RIGHT!! No reason to dress this up. There were a few negatives about this place. For one, service is pretty dang slow. Im talking one server for the whole floor. But to be fair, there isn't much floor space. I think maybe I counted six tables and a bar. They were crammed into the space the size of a shipping container. But the sushi rolls were great. They were the perfect size and dressed just like any Cali sushi joint. The Mexi and the Vegas were both great rolls. The calamari on the other hand wasnt the best. I would opt for a different appetizer. This really did look like a locals joint. I can probably see them getting a lot out repeat customers because of its low key location. TL;DR Wasted 60$ on a crap meal for two. Not impressed. I'm a huge sushi fan, I've had it all over the country and even in Tokyo. For this review, my comparison is to sushi I've found in Utah and other states far from the coast. With that in mind, this is still towards the bottom of the totem pole. The fish is "fishy", not fresh. It's low quality and honestly if not fish it's very bland. We ordered tempura vegetables as well, 80% was overcooked broccoli that smelled awful and tasted even worse. My partner got the chicken teriyaki and said it was "alright", which means he thought it was ok enough to eat. He was really annoyed that it came with a whole bunch of stuff like tempura and a salad and a soup which he didn't like and oranges?? And charged 18 bucks for it. His opinion is give me the rice, give me the chicken, and charge me 10 bucks for it. He also ordered a pork gyoza and he said it was the only good thing he ate there. The staff is nice. The interior is ok. The chairs are uncomfortable and the tables are slightly too high for the chairs. I'm very very tall and even my arms are up pretty high. Honestly the problem is that there are no actually quality sushi restaurants in this area. Even the very expensive ones up on Main Street are just average. If you're looking for above average sushi, there's a more pricy place down in salt lake that fits the bill. read more

A surprise, hidden in a less traveled part of Kimball Junction on the edge of Park City. Doesn't look great from the outside but I trust in Yelp. Prior reviews are accurate. Shoyu is quite small, 6/7 seats at bar and a handful of tables. Usual type of sushi menu is prepared and served by knowledgable staff, they answer questions, teach the ignorant (me) the various options on the menu, and are generally friendly and responsive. I took a small sashimi plate, 8 pieces of beautifully presented larger pieces of fish. I always go with chef's selection but they will go with whatever you want.. Another great find! Don't let this little "hole in the wall" send you up the hill. This place is clean and friendly. Both gentlemen even washed their hands before preparing my food. Shoyu's fish quality is stupendous -- this is the only place in PC where I'd dare order sashimi or nigiri ever again. Not to mention the prices are far better than Oishi, Yuki Arashi, Shabu, Sushi Blue, Lespri, or (dare I even mention it... yuck) Flying Sumo. My small sashimi plate which TOTALLY filled me up was 18 dollars. Rolls range from $9 - $14, which is more than reasonable by PC - and even UT - standards. The roll quality too compares to superb experiences in Cali. The sushi rice has just the right amount of stick and kick, and you'll find yourself licking up whatever falls on your plate. This is one of the best sushi places I have eaten at in Utah. I would say it is 4.5 stars in reality as it is not the best place I have eaten at but it is really good. It has a menu that has many options and the Bento boxes are great for kids. My 2 year old enjoyed the miso soup, teriyaki snapper, rice, and fruit of the bento box. My wife and I had the Death roll (it was sort of spicy), Shoyu roll (my favorite), and the crunchy spicy roll all of which were delicious and very savory for sushi. Shoyu Sushi House has a great calamari appetizer that is the best I have had in Utah. The owner is really nice and makes sure the ingredients are top notch. Wish it was closer to my home as I would go more often, but is at the top of the list for Park City eating out locations for me. I recommend the Shoyu roll if you do go and try it out. read more

I almost hate to write a review of Shoyu because if it gets too much attention, it'll be too difficult to get a table! But, they deserve the good press and others deserve to know about this hidden gem. I'm a big sushi eater, and I've lived in and visited some places with amazing sushi. Honestly, none tops Shoyu. It's incredible. The first thing you need to know when you go to this restaurant is that you cannot go in a rush, and you need to expect to be there for a while. Be surprised if the result is different. Let me first get the negatives out of the way. There are like 6 tables in the whole restaurant and a few stools at the bar. There is usually one server for all of these tables, and the server is almost always totally overwhelmed. Also, many times we've eaten here, we've needed to remind our server of certain items and/or tell them to take things off the bill that never came. What you will see is that none of this matters when you finally get your sushi. Every time we go here, we order different things. We always love to try their specials, which are listed on a chalkboard. I believe the reason the food takes so long is because sushi is an art, and the chefs here take that seriously. The presentation is impeccable. The fish is precisely chosen, is the highest quality, and is all melt-in-your-mouth amazing. I can't even with this sushi. This restaurant is a must have for any trip to Utah. Go in with time and low expectations for service, and the food will more than make up for it! read more

Fantastic! I was visiting family in Salt Lake City and decided I needed to add a little thrill to my visit so up to Park City we went to go zip lining! After a few rounds of flying down the mountain in a little harness we stumbled onto this tiny little place down the mountain. The rolls were really great and the owner was very friendly. (I love talking to sushi chefs!) I was surprised to find such good sushi in Utah, but hey... I'm always more than willing to be proven wrong. Try it, you'll like it!
