My last three visits have been a let down from the past. I only visit when they aren't busy. Thiss isn't a place to go for a quick breakfast. Today, we were one to two parties in the place and it took 25 minutes to get breakfast. Unfortunately, wife's eggs were cooked wrong, and my sides were cold. After waiting so long; we didn't dare ask for corrections. The food is still good, but be prepared for hit or miss service. I hope I just caught them on a series of bad days. Came here expecting to go to rising sun cafe, (don't know if it was renamed or what happened) and was pleasantly surprised. I had actually come here before for brunch and the turn out was below average. The service & mimosas were great but my food was cold, and the veggie omelet was somehow flavorless (the veggies weren't sautéed enough or with seasoning). I'm glad i decided to try it again. Their biscuits with gravy breakfast combo was great. The gravy was on the thinner side but was still flavorful. I loved the biscuits, they were fluffy and moist. And the best part was they had turkey sausage for us folks who don't eat pork. Coffee was great, and i had a mimosa as well, also great. Only down side was the server didn't check on me much and rushed me to leave. I was there working on a philosophy analysis so i was there 1hr 1/2. I just go here with family. Chicken fried steak is terrible. Chicken strips and chicken fried chicken are great, breakfast is good. Make sure your food is hot when you get it sometimes some of my food will be cold here...idk what's up with that. The staff is very helpful and have good attitudes. The portions are large and some will have leftovers. The prices are a bit high in my opinion for the inconsistency. Can be a decent date place if you don't go with a deceptive whore face. I'll still be going back here with family, but checking the freakn temp of my food when I get it from now on. I 45% recommend this place read more

I have went here several times within a week for breakfast and not satisfied with the cooking and the customer service here. I made my order with a vegetable omelet without cheese. The cook messed up my order twice so I canceled my order and they gave me some hard pancakes. I was like this is not happening today. This cook turned the vegetable omelet outside in and gave it back to the waitress for me... I looked at this and told the waitress that I will not be eating this... Great local spot in Denton that serves amazing food! I have been pretty often and I loved each experience. My favorite entree to order here is either the chicken fried chicken or the reuben sandwich. Both are awesome and I would say the chicken fried chicken is the best in Denton for sure! Also, their cheesecakes are awesome! They sell it to go and they are like personal small cheesecakes ($6+tax). Sometimes they run out so make sure to call to double check. They also have a lot of pies available to buy too and I've heard they are great. The prices are solid especially for the amount of food you get. The restaurant itself is okay, but you'll always come back for the food. The owners and employees are awesome! The waitress have always treated me and my friends with the best service and I have loved my experience with them. The owners are so kind and have helped my campus ministry out in so many ways with fundraisers (some of them have been set up the week and they didn't hesitate at all). We are visiting from out of town and plugged in the nearest sit down place. This was recommended so we gave it a try and boy am I glad! Appetizers are well worth it! Large portion sizes for what you pay for! We got the fried pickles and they were very fresh pickles! Didnt taste soggy or frozen. Nice spot! I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. I visited on Mothers Day without my mom. Parking was easy and getting a table was quite easy as well. Now I will say we arrived about 8:30 and by the time we left parking was not easy and there was at least a 30 min wait. It was very busy. I had pancakes and sausage. The short stack is plenty they were big and thick. The food and the service was excellent. I would visit again and I do recommend. My husband and I frequent this restaurant fairly often. They have a large establishment split into two rooms, both of which have a restaurant. They serve in both, but the bistro room can be reserved for events. I've been served there once and it's got cute décor and nice marble table tops. In the larger room, they have a few booths and a lot of tables. The owners also sell tamales separate from the rest of the menu. You can order 1/2 a dozen for $8 or a dozen for $14. The owners make them and sell them frozen, wrapped in foil. Now those prices are high for tamales but these tamales are huge, so even though I wish they were less, or were sold in smaller packages, you are indeed getting your money's worth. We have purchased them on multiple occasions and both the pork and chicken are very good. We took them to an event once and people raved about them. I've seen a message that they can do custom fillings with 48 hours notice. They are a good option for any sort of potluck event or gathering but we get them just because most of the time. The tamales are 5 stars on taste and size, and though I really wish I had the option of ordering 4 of them to save on cost that doesn't bring down the tamale rating because everyone sells them in half a dozen and a dozen. The food off the menu is consistently good. They serve the entire menu in the morning when we usually go which is nice because we are early risers and my husband isn't usually in a breakfast mood. The food is typically served correctly with little to average wait and always tastes good. French toast, steak, the Rueben, nachos- we have sampled a lot and haven't had any issues with the quality of the food. As you look at the menu some of it seems expensive. Most items are in line with the portion or quality you are getting but I have noticed they could stand to adjust a little on some of their items, mostly breakfast stuff. The service on the other hand is hit or miss. Our first experience was pretty terrible and we didn't return for a few months. Then when we returned on a Sunday morning we had Lauren as our server and everything was soooo perfect. Since then we have had mostly okay service and sometimes even good service. Sometimes there is a long wait on the food or the server makes mistakes, nothing life altering. However, last weekend our server was all over the place, walked away in the middle of my questions and we were unable to wave her down. Because we couldn't get her attention I didn't receive ketchup until we were halfway through the meal. We also never got refills despite the cups sitting empty at the edge of the table and we were actively attempting to catch her eye. I could have hollered out to get her attention but that's not my style. I've been in the service industry, in one form or the other, for 16 years so I'm not going to make a scene. I'm typically pretty patient and on the rare occasion I can't take anymore, I'll calmly talk to the manager, not yell for the server. In a nutshell: good food, great tamales! There is too much inconsistency in the service, and a business and their reputation thrive on consistency so they still have some work to do in that department. We will still continue to go every couple of months and observe how they come along but to get 5 stars they need to give at least good service most of the time and make sure all of their prices are consistently proportionate. read more

However, since I was going to the movies right after, I did not feel like eating heavy. I ordered a small breakfast (your usual... eggs, bacon etc.) with one pancake no blueberries... Now I'm regretting not getting the blueberries. Maybe that may change my review. The regular pancake was good... but not whoa, the best thing I ever ate. The pancake was quite dense for me. I finished half of it. It is a large pancake. Came at noon, seated right away. Busy, but not jam packed. Service... EXCELLENT!!! our waiter was super nice, friendly, attentive, thorough when taking our order. There wasn't anything extraordinary that happen. Came here for breakfast instead of having fake eggs at homewood suites. Ordered a Mexican breakfast - eggs with chorizo and tortillas. Food was great. My friend ordered and omelet and she enjoyed hers as well. They are open at 6 am I think which is great. We came in at 7 am. There were a few elderly people and still the service was a bit slow.
