As we were walking by decided to try this place since the light up sign said "open" and the doors were open. When we walked in they said they were closed. If a restaurant is closed turn off the sign and lock the doors! Mind you it was 11:26 am and the restaurant opend at 11:30 am. Waited the 4 minutes outside then came in to eat. Service was decent. Paid 20$ for shrimp pad Thai pickup, and you can imagine my surprise when I was leafing through a menu while waiting for my food at the restaurant, only to see that the pad Thai was 12$. Still amazing Crab Rangoons with tiny sweet chili dipping sauce and Thai Iced Coffee. This time I ordered take out. When I went there it was busy for a Friday night and there were a few tables occupied but several people including myself picking up "take out." The order was correct and I asked for a Papaya Salad as well...which they made in a "Chicago Minute!" However; the lid was not completely sealed and the fish sauce dressing seeped all over everything and made my reusable shopping bag stink to high.....and I had to throw it out...oh well... Best Thai I have ever eaten. Funny thing is when I was at the restaurant, it could not find this place on Yelp to review it. It is next door to the Thai Consulate, down some stairs. I was skeptical at first, but hungry to try something other than steak or Italian. They will make it hot if you ask for it. Otherwise it will be mild/med. Have been ordering from here since the pandemic and they have yet to disappoint. The green and yellow curries are comfy and hit the spot in the winter and my mom loves the crab rangoon. Deducted a star because last time they replaced an order of green curry and gave us an order of orange chicken. We ordered food from Silver spoon online and it came over two hours late. I called the restaurant and they tried to deny that I had made the order. And then they tried to assert that the order was made late. After I informed them that I had the email receipt, they found my order and try to give me a free appetizer. When the food did arrive, it just was rather mediocre.I have certainly had better Thai food delivery before. Craving the ubiquitous chicken Pad Thai, I walked the five blocks to this subterranean hole in the wall that maybe has 12 tables. The ceiling is low & it feels like your in the basement. The location of the resultant is located right in the middle of River north which makes it perfect for a nice walk around the town. On arrival we were greeted by nice and sincere waitress, who had a good understanding of the menu and can explain anything if you had any questions. The food was amazing. I had a curry rice with beef, and it was very smooth, with a hint of spices that don't burn the pallet, and the beef was well cooked and not dry. The portions are also generous for the price. I would say overall the experience was great. The only thing would be the space between other tables is pretty narrow, so at times it is difficult to talk, having the feeling like someone is eavesdropping in your conversation. But overall would recommend heading over to experience this yourself! read more

This is my go to Thai delivery restaurant! Their food is delicious and always comes nice and hot! My absolute favorite dishes are the Baby Egg Rolls, Pad Thai, and Thai Pepper Steak Entree. Below are the items I've ordered and details. - Baby Egg Rolls: 5/5 These are addicting! Super yummy baby chicken egg rolls with a yummy sweet and sour dipping sauce. I get these every time! - Potstickers: 4/5 I order these fried. I'm pretty picky with my potstickers. These are good, but not my all time favorite. - Thai Pepper Steak Entree: 5/5 I order without mushrooms and extra water chestnuts. Comes with side of rice. I dare you to smell this and not devour it all right away! Perfect amount of sauce to meat & veggie mixture. - Pad Thai: 5/5 I am very picky with my pad Thai, and this is one of my favorite dishes. A lot of pad Thai from delivery doesn't have enough sauce and is dry but that is not the case here. This has the perfect amount of sauce. You can alter your spicy level and can add extra veggies if you prefer like me. Noodles are always cooked perfectly as well. - Pineapple fried Rice: 4/5 I add chicken & veggies. It is always fresh and flavorful. - Chicken Fried Rice: 3/5 Not your typical fried rice as it comes with onions and sprouts rather than carrots and peas. A little bland. A small cafe located below a su hi restaurant. Had the Tom Ka Gai soup, yellow medium curry with Tofu, rice and Thai Ice Tea. The curry, rice and tea were good, but the soup was so sour I could not eat it. I order Tom Ka Kai frequently and some places do have a little sour to their version of this soup, but never so sour I literally could not eat it. It was more orangish red than the typical white color I have known for 20+ years. I just took the chicken, mushrooms and onions out and added it to my curry. I knocked them on a star I. Part because of the soup, but also because there was no welcoming into the business or even waving for me to take a seat...the woman was on the phone and the young man was headed to what I think was their online ordering system. I just sat down and waited and the young man came to my table when he was finished. He was very kind and attended to my needs while I was there. He never did ask why I was not eating my soup, just if I was finished. Everyone makes their food differently, but laying off the sour would have gone a long way for this version. I remember that before when I didn't go to Silver spoon that I would always look at it and question it. I went one day and was absolutely surprised  to find out that their flavors are superior to many other Thai places , I love their chicken and I like that they use different oil for that as well. Overall very good Thai spot. But not blown away. Pad see ew - little bit on the bland side. I've had a bajillion pad see ews and this was one of my least favorites. Red curry- redeemed themselves with the red curry! Very delicious and flavorful and Lot of veggies they give you which is nice. Often times curry is 90% curry and 10% veggies but I loved the variety. Had a terrible customer service experience. My teen son was meeting us for dinner and thought we were at this restaurant. Actually we were at the place upstairs. He used the restroom quickly (and politely) then sat down before realizing he was in the wrong place. After explaining, the woman working here yelled at him very aggressively and chased him out insisting he pay her $2 for the restroom. He had no money (he's 15) so she followed him to our group outside her restaurant. Needless to say we paid her the $2 and apologized for the misunderstanding. She was very not understanding and proceeded to huff and puff away. Innocent mistake by our teen, but given the behavior we won't ever try the food or patronize this place. read more

love the food and have come a few times over the past few years. The last two times I've ordered takeout for pickup. Both times, I've arrived just after the time window they've given me for when the food would be ready so I don't have to wait (the whole point of takeout is that I don't want to be sitting in a restaurant). Both times, when I arrive, they show me my order written out on a paper ticket and THEN start prepping the food. I've waited 20 minutes or more for the food. Sitting in a restaurant when that's what I was trying to avoid. It defeats the purpose of takeout. HOWEVER, I saw a grub hub guy come in and get his order asap so maybe you need to order delivery from grub hub instead. PS get the mini egg rolls. You won't regret it. read more

Super affordable, especially given the location near Mag Mile (average price is less than $10 per meal). Lunch specials are even more attractive (lower cost while including an appetizer). However, the food was just okay. There was a lot of fish sauce used in the pad thai. In fact, the place somewhat smelled like fish sauce too. They had udon pad thai too, which was a new/fusion twist on a traditional favorite. The crab rangoon was not too crabby. Definitely enjoyed the young coconut juice. I'll admit apprehension due to Yelp's reviews. I am glad I ignored them. I almost walked past this little place while on an adventure in Chicago. I am so glad I did not miss it. They had all the traditional fare but each dish I had provided some unique flavors and I am now a huge fan of the Thai custard that was recommended. The atmosphere is casual and cozy and the staff had smiles for every encounter. Overall this was a delightful experience and I'm leaving with a full tummy and a smile. And if you need a final word of encouragement, this place shares a wall with the Royal Thai Consulate. read more

I tried this around magnificient mile area which is located at ground floor, easy to miss. Its not very spacious and service is slow. I ordered the $12.95 specials one currie chicken and one Currie beef. The curried beef meat was tough with bite size thin morsels and barely any meat. It was mostly Currie sauce. The chicken was better but again cut to thin morsels and barely any meat just a lot of sauce with a few potatoes And some peas For the appetizer I got 3 bite size crab rangoon the smallest I have ever received at any Thai restaurant but they were tasty. The spring rolls were bigger and tasted ok. I told the waitress that the curry beef was hard/tough to see if she could exchange. She seemed offended and said "that's what she ordered". I told her it was not good she just stared. I had to order something else I chose the pad Thai with shrimp which was better. I don't recommend beef dishes. The taste of the Currie was ok. I however feel like you do not get enough food with the specials. There are better Thai places In Chicago. read more

This place was located in the basement of a house converted I to two restaurants (the top one being a sushi place.) we got in and I think at the right time because it filled up fast after us. It's a small team of likely a family and they hustled their butts off! The food was delicious, hot, and fresh.
