Terrible service at this location. We asked if we could be seated outside. She told us, "I don't know the status of tables outside." We asked if there was a hostess for outside? "No, I'm the hostess for inside and outside." ,so she rolled her eyes and went to see if there was a table outside. Came back and asked a waitress if we could be seated at her table, waitress rolled her eyes and said yes begrudgingly. "Hostess" then brings us to a dirty table picks up a toothpick left on the table and tries to seat us. Needless to say, we ended up eating somewhere else. read more

I stopped in for breakfast because everything looked great in the pics. I got the Oaxaca omelette and over all the food was very good, but it wasn't very hot, it must have been sitting on the warmer for a while. I loved the way the omelette was made, great taste, and I loved their wheat toast. My complaint is.with the service, it was not very busy, but service at the bar was painfully slow. Never was offered more coffee had to ask after 20 minutes. Hopefully that is not normal. read more

This place has a welcoming diner feel with an elevated food + drink menu. Kind (and quick) service, reasonable pricing, creative (and healthy) menu options, and delicious food. MUST TRY: Gochujang Short Rib Hash --- Korean bbq short rib, shishito peppers, farro, scallions, eggs over-easy, queso fresco, salsa roja, peanuts, cilantro, crispy tortillas. In addition to your standard brunch mimosa, they have fresh-pressed juices, boozy ice creams, spiked coffee options, handspun milkshakes, and a few plant-based items as well. Eaten here many times, always a good lunch spot but nothing spectacular that makes you wanna tell everyone about. Today I got the field greens and a side of chimmichurri wings. I always was curious about the wings on the menu cause it's always a go to of mine so I ordered them and can't say it was anything to rave about. The wing size were fine but the actual wing and it's flavor lacked in so many ways that you know it has potential and it's just a flavorless bite after the other. The skin on the wing was chewy and the the sauce had herb essence to it but no salt, maybe they can consider a dipping sauce on the side ? Either way won't go out my way to get those again. The field greens are always good it's not much you can complain about a simple salad put together. I usually get it as a main and add protein or just as a side. Now there other favorites I enjoy about this place which is why I do continue to order sometimes like the tomato soup and grilled cheese I've made a review on that as well but I believe for another silver location. Had an awesome dinner at Silver this week! Came with my friend who doesn't eat red meat, and our server was able to recommend great dishes for us to share and enjoy. I started with an Oreo milkshake because I was feeling like a #TreatYoSelf day, and I'm so glad I did, because It was DELISH and divine. It's a good thing I don't live closer or else I'd be in there all the time for this shake. For an appetizer, we split the tuna tartare which was fantastic. It had lots of avocado and a lime-peanut sauce that really took it over the top. Served with crispy wontons, it had a great mix of flavors and textures. This is a must-try! The lemon chicken piccata was also a winner. The breading was super light and maintained its integrity despite being smothered in the most delicious lemon garlic sauce. Although the spinach it was served with was nothing groundbreaking, I quite enjoyed the cauliflower mash on the side. We also tried the Cauliflower Steak, which was served with a kale/butternut squash/chickpea/quinoa salad that was soooo good. I'm usually meh about kale, but I would eat this all the time! The cauliflower steak was very good and a great alternative to animal protein. I've tried making it at home and it always crumbles apart, but this one stayed perfectly steak-like, which I was very impressed with. Even though I got a milkshake to start, I couldn't resist trying their dessert. We opted for the apple pie beignets and the 4-berry pie for 2. We got them both a la mode, which is definitely the way to go. I think the pie was my favorite, although it was a very close call between the 2! All in all, it was a great visit, and I can't wait to go back to sit on the patio when the weather gets nicer! read more

I'm a great cook, but have decided to try and support local restaurants when I'm too tired to spend time in the kitchen. To date, I've only had a few disappointments--that is until I ordered fish and chips from the Silver Diner at 3404 Wisconsin Ave. What I received was so shockingly bad, I had to take a picture. Not only did it not resemble anything close to what you might expect, even from a chain restaurant, it looked like someone had scraped the leftovers off of another patron's plate. The 4 dried out chunks of fish don't even add up to ONE realistic portion, and the fries look like the've been sitting out for the past few days. I know everybody's struggling during the pandemic. But when patrons make an effort to support local restaurants, restauranteurs need to make the same effort to provide decent quality food in FAIR PORTIONS. Not only will I never patronize Silver again, I'll do my best to warn others. read more

After being in the area for an appointment, I stopped by here to grab a bite to eat since I hadn't eaten all day. It was pretty empty but that was perfect for me I sat at the bar and was immediately helped and ordered the corn and crab chowder, the fried chicken sandwhich with fries and one of their specialty sodas. The soup was so delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal and it was good when I added some of my French fries to it lol. The fried chicken sandwhich was a little too crispy for my liking but I still enjoyed it. I thought I had already written a five-start review for this restaurant but apparently I did not complete it. We were there 5 days ago and had a lovely experience. Gwenn was a great server, and the food was definitely a cut above the lesser version of this company Silver Diner. The annoying and short-sighted policy of charging $5 for a soda left a sour note to the dinner visit, however. They might want to dull that impression with a more reasonable pricing strategy. After all, the meals are sufficiently costly as it is without a $5 Diet Coke. read more

Went twice in the same day. Once for afternoon cocktails, where the service was fantastic. Our waitress was attentive, accommodating, and made sure we enjoyed our cocktails. We went again that night, around 9pm, and told our waitress we were only getting a milkshake. She was not as attentive and did not pick up our check after quite some time. I walked inside to give her the check to get her attention. I got the pear blossom cocktail (pictured), had hints of spice/cinnamon in it. My friend got the Paloma and it was strong (gotta love it). I just moved up the street and decided to try one of the neighborhood restaurants. I ordered the pickle fried chicken sandwich. It was 2 fried twenty-four hours pickle-brined chicken breasts, coleslaw, pickles and adobo mayo. It came with fries and was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. The fries were perfectly crispy and salted. I had to take one of the chicken breasts off because it was too much for me to eat. You could definitely taste the pickle flavor, and I love pickles. Our server was great. She was helpful, accommodating and funny. Silver has happy hour and music on Friday nights. I'll definitely be back to try something new! read more

This is a fantastic brunch spot, especially if you have little ones. The best part is the "Healthier Kid's Menu." From the avocado toast to salmon, there are a number of healthy kids options. Our little boy loved the champion breakfast with the strawberries and fruit and multi grain toast. The staff here is also very accommodating and patient with the kids. I'm giving this diner 2/5 for their inconsistency. Their menu is fabulous and have something for everyone - even a great kids menu, but it's like playing Russian roulette; one out of four visits, it's great...then it's not. It's a lot of money to pay for this type of inconsistency. We've had some great meals and I absolutely love their bloody Mary's and their twist on the old classic - huevos rancheros, then we've had the bad ones where everyone around the table experienced some sort of mishap. We live in the neighborhood and we'd probably be there more often....if they were consistent in delivering anything to the table correct. It's frustrating- I'd really like to write a glowing review, but we unfortunately encounter slow service, incorrect meals - cold, over cooked or otherwise - that prevent such a review. At first I thought it was growing pains, but after giving them more than a year to 'iron out the kinks', it would appear they are still encountering issues. Bottom line - if you don't mind playing restaurant bingo - not really sure what you're going to get - then this is your place! I'd suggest letting management (politely) know if you have issues so they could hopefully improve down the road. read more

My dogs each give two paws up for Silver's Pups On the Patio every Thursday from 4:30-6:30 PM where if you bring your dog, the restaurant donates 10% of your bill to a local animal charity. How cool is that?! There are cocktails on the menu made to benefit the animal charities-- spot the ones made with Tito's. What's even better is that happy hour is during this time so everyone benefits. The bf and I ordered everything from the HH food menu. Our favorites hands down were the chimichurri wings and the goat cheese bruschetta. The wings: a little spicy, tangy, herbaceous, and very saucy. The bruschetta: pesto-forward, zesty, and lots of goat cheese. Highly recommend them both. The best part is that Silver provides doggo ice cream for your furbaby. The food here was fantastic and they do validate if you park in the garage. The atmosphere was nice and we sat outside. The menu is relatively small and the breakfast was amazing. I had a feta omelet and my friend had pancakes. Everything was delicious and came out pretty quickly. Service was nice and was not overly attentive so that it was annoying. Turned they were the ones sketchy. How you say well just the interaction was giving shade or like judging eyes. As if we were there to give them hell. Turns out they were wrong, food was served promptly and hot. We kept it simple and sweet meal ordering wise. Water, drinks and entrees. Cost was not crazy I may have tipped more than I should have. The Silver Brasserie consistently has great food, never had a bad meal there. On my recent visit I was pleasantly surprised by an excellent hostess, Alexa! I took time to write this review, because in the past few months, I've been very disappointed in the inattentiveness of hostesses. Alexa greeted me, saw that the table that I wanted was not ready, which she then took it upon herself to clean the table so that I may sit. Manager Roz assisted as well. Had dinner delivered from Silver and even after traveling, it was amazing. I ordered the Smoky Gouda Burger cooked medium well. It was charred perfectly, cooked at the right temperature, didn't fall to pieces. Best burger I may have ever had. Fries were seasoned well but I did have to warm it up as it did have to travel to get to my house. I tried my mom's mac n cheese. It was good but I just prefer baked macaroni and cheese. My only suggestion is to label the food cartons. My father and I both ordered the same burger at two different temperatures, and I had to cut into one to figure out which was medium well and which was medium. read more

This upgrade of a new york diner is one of my neighborhood favorites. Decent, consistently delicious food. The menu flags organic locally sourced food they use; presentation and taste are excellent, and the price is not bad at all. My favorite though are the juices, the carrott ginger one is a must, I think it is called what up doc? I had the Naan tonight with the delicious basil oil, then a nice size cheese burger with amazing fries...yeah. My cholestrol probably jumped 100 points, but hey, I am not angry because I am not hungry. Go have a meal, and a shake, mine was the low fat peppermint patty made with yogurt, and tonight free with the burger. read more

The only little annoyance was that the corner booth I sat by which must be the back server station, had a bit of a fruit fly problem which wasn't overwhelming but a little annoying to keep swatting them away from my food . Overall I would come back, I would have sat outside but it was a little colder for my liking. With COVID it wasn't super busy but definitely had a flow going.
