I was in town for 2 weeks and we decided to stop to get some food here and didn't expect much. We sat down to eat and we ordered the B-4 and some boba. I went to the bathroom and when I got back there was a little cat robot waiting there with my boba.The waiters were very kind and checked to see how we were doing often. The food was incredible and anyone who wants some incredible food and anyone who wants to get served by a cat robot I highly recommend this restaurant for you. read more

Since my initial Yelp review, I have continued to visit Simply Pho in Bee Cave. Each time I visit, I am happy I stopped in. I find the food delicious, and even though recently I've been watching my calorie intake, I find delicious, healthy items on the menu. This is a well-kept restaurant, popular (for good reason), and recently, I've taken to ordering vegetarian spring rolls and green tea, with an extra order of spring rolls to go! Much better cuisine that the previous restaurant Blue Bamboo. I've dined here a few times recently. Mostly for car club work sessions with another club member who works in the area. I work for home; so the choices are limited to what I can grab the day before at the local supermarket. I make some fancy choices sometimes! Anyway, always the same order for him. I've at least tried to mix it up trying various appetizers and entrees over my visits. For the apps, I've thoroughly enjoyed the spring rolls. It's nice that you get choices with me switching between the delicious pork and tender shrimp. Tofu is also an option, but I'll wait for my second heart attack before I venture there. Crab rangoon sampled on occasion from my buddies plate (pay him cash and your meddling wife will never know) are golden goodness. Same goes for the pan fried dumplings with an above average dipping sauce. My favorite entree so far has been the B2 (pork and shrimp) vermicelli bowl. Not as generous on portion size as another local haunt (Hai Ky). In a direct comparison Simply Pho makes up for it's smaller entree with a more flavorful fish sauce. Add in a few squirts of Sriracha and it's culinary bliss. I've also found the Tom Kha to be really on point. Even better than Madam Mam's across the street. An entree that needed a bit of help was C2 (grilled shrimp rice plate). Dishes in this part of the menu are basically broken up parts of regular entrees. Desconstructed un-fried rice if you will with the usual proteins listed. Seems like an attempt to fill blank spaces on the menu in my opinion. Decent Vietnamese place, especially considering the lack of options for Asian food in this corner of Austin. Simple Pho is a clean, rather cavernous space for a pho joint. The grilled pork over rice is quite good, with marinated, sliced pork in a variety of spices (lemongrass being predominant) served over rice. A number of things in this restaurant are a little strange. Early afternoon is quiet, with almost no one in the restaurant, and yet the service was noticeably slow. The egg rolls are delicious...but served with a miserly portion of lettuce, and at almost $2 per roll, are a bit overpriced. And the banh mi sandwich was good, for what it was, but again with the parsimonious amount of pork and veggies. I'm not a stickler for bargains, but the price point here seems a bit off. Likely this is a result of the high rent per foot to be near the Galleria or Lake Travis country. I would come here again, though with diminished expectations, and only with an irrepressible craving for Vietnamese food. That said...this place scores a '3' on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. The food had a fast food/take out feel and the ambience was unpleasant. We were seated next to the kitchen and server station which was unpleasant. Two staff were chatting about and looking at grandmas homemade jarred food. This is not something I enjoy when dining out. There were also dishes piled up near and on the bar for at least 10 minutes, which was unappetizing. I did see a sign that said they would be closing soon for a remodel so hopefully they fix these issues. The egg rolls were okay, I've had better and worse. My husband really enjoyed the Pho which is great because it's Pho House. I ordered the sesame chicken and was really disappointed. The menu description states "stir-fried white meat chicken with sesame seed and broccoli". There were 4 small pieces of broccoli off to the side of my plate. There was plenty of chicken and it tasted good, but you would expect more broccoli. I would have enjoyed the dish much more had it been stir-fried with a good amount of broccoli rather than just 4 small pieces off to the side. This is also not the place to come if you want a quick lunch as the service was slow. Now, most of the time (other than talking about grandmas jarred food) I saw the servers running around so I wouldn't say they weren't working hard, but they may have been understaffed. I've only ordered their food via food delivery app but was pleasantly surprised by Simply Pho's quality. My daughter was having allergies and her runny nose was bothering her so much last week, to the point where she just couldn't eat or sleep well. I immediately thought pho or bone broth soup would help and it indeed did the trick. Both their chicken pho and beef pho were tasty and in good portion size. Their spring rolls were a little too salty for our taste so we would skip those in the future. Fried rice looked plain at first sight but was actually flavorful, we packed some for lunch the next day and it still tasted pretty good. We will continue to support Simply Pho as eating pho (no matter what time of the day) has always been calming and comforting for us. read more

Discovered this gem today around lunchtime and decided to check it out. I typically order the pork and egg roll vermicelli bowl when I go Vietnamese, and did so today. I also ordered the spring rolls and a Vietnamese coffee. Each item was very well prepared and tasted really fresh. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls was quite tasty as was the spicy fish sauce for the bowl. The egg rolls in the bowl were crispy and obviously hand made. The Vietnamese coffee was prepared hot and had that distinctive flavor of this type beverage. The restaurant itself was well appointed and appeared very well maintained. You should try out this place. It's well worth it. I will be returning. read more

We were very excited when we reviewed the menu at this restaurant - a great mix of Vietnamese and Thai options on the menu. The good - the tom kha gai soup was delicious! Amazing broth. Spring rolls were quite tasty as well, although expensive for an order of two pieces. On food alone, I would have rated this restaurant a four out of five. The average - the lo-mein sauce was quite good, but the chicken had an odd taste and wasn't palatable. Beef dishes were much better - recommend paying the up charge for beef. The bad - I was really disappointed by our service. I received the wrong dish from the server, and asked for the correct one to be made. I asked how long it would take for the new dish to come and she said she didn't know how long. I kept the wrong dish to pick at while my entire family ate so I wouldn't be eating alone. Once my ordered dish came, my family was nearly done eating, so I asked for the bill. She charged me for both the wrong dish and the one I ordered. I had the additional dish removed from the bill and paid for the one that I ate about half of but received rude feedback and response. Service became non-existent at this point. When I asked for a takeout container (my child had leftovers from her meal), she asked me what I wanted it for. She then brought me the smallest takeout container that a restaurant would have. I ended up leaving my entire meal (that I paid for) because no takeout container was provided. What I noticed is that the staff all seems to work the same jobs. There wasn't a designated host, or bartender or food runner. It's nice because it seemed to be a good working system as they all were able to help each other out rather than isolate to individual roles. The spring rolls were so fresh, and the pho with brisket was such a great meal! Flavorful broth that really doesn't need hoisen sauce or Sriracha to be added to it. I have had delicious dinners at Pho House for years. Tonight I visited for the first time the new location inside the Galleria. Very disappointed. First thing that struck me was the front door and the bar are crammed up together, meaning that I sat at the bar, as I always do by myself and the customers that arrived waiting to be seated or to pick up were standing right behind me while I ate. Not appetizing while loud conversations go on within one foot of myself. The wait staff was lackadaisical. I felt rushed to order. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The Vermecilli was cold in the bowl with the chicken. After I finished what was not good anyway I literally had 6 waitstaff pass in front of me and not one asked if I needed my check or anything . The only person behind the bar was at the other end of the bar for the rest of the time I was sitting. Not once looked my way to see if I needed anything. Finally one person in passing looked over his shoulder and asked "was it good?" I said no. He did stop and asked what happened. I told him the chicken was cold and my meal was not good . Raised eyebrow..."oh!" And he moved on. Finally the only person behind the bar did show up and I asked if the manager was available. "No. No one is here right now." She walked off. In all the years I have eaten at Pho House I never felt neglected or disappointed . The Spring Rolls have always been perfect and fat with the shrimp how I love them. Tonight the spring rolls were skinny and rolled loosely. I understand getting the kinks out with a new location and so forth and this was , to me, unrecog nizable as the sweet wonderful Pho House that I've enjoyed for many years. Just cannot keep coming back to this place. Every time we come we are completely disappointed. The pho broth is so sugary and a horrible base to create a wonderful Pho. Their version of Tom Kah is so off, that I cannot even they believe that they state that it is Tom Kah. We have lived here over 3 years and each time we are hopeful it just gets worse. The ordering system was easy to use, the staff friendly, and the location convenient. Other than that, I would say it was a bit of a miss. I understand why the to-go pho had all the pieces packed separately, so that you can assemble it yourself and select how much of various items go into the dish. However, from a green packaging perspective, and even feasibility of eating while on the road, it was not user friendly. The broth was fairly bland and I was disappointed that you couldn't order a spice bomb or have another way of dressing it up a little. The egg rolls we ordered were fine, and the dipping sauce for those pretty standard. If you were craving pho and that's all you had nearby, it would make do, but I would definitely not make a trip out of the way to go here, nor recommend it to others looking to experience the dish. read more

We showed up just before close, to get some take out for movie night. Unfortunately, the kitchen closes 15 minutes before close. The staff sincerely apologised and gave us an entire box full of spring rolls, since we weren't aware of their policy. They literally refused to take our money. Came here after seeing a billboard on the highway. The interior decor is very rustic and cute, albeit a bit surprising. I ordered the Bun ga nuong with egg roll and pork. The portion size was a bit on the smaller size than what I'm used to at Vietnamese restaurants, but to be fair, I was also very hungry. What surprised me was that the sauce it came with was mixed with Sriracha, which is unusual. I had to ask for the regular sauce separately. The egg rolls were crispy and flaky; the meat was unfortunately a bit tough and chewy. Flavor was decent but undermined by the chewing involved. Also, there were a lot of flies.. Maybe the AC was out? I certainly hope that isn't the norm. It was annoying to have to constantly be on guard protecting my food from those pesky pests. Ample parking is a plus. read more

I apologize. please forgive me for assuming your pho would be compromised to suit the makeup of the clientele because of its location. If you don't I understand why. I was mistaken to believe the pho broth would not contain the flavor elements that are essential to a good bowl of pho, but I was wrong. The aromatics and spices were shockingly present. Probably the most tenderness slices of beef albeit rib eye kind could expect from such a simple but hard to perfect soup dish. Prices are not exorbitant but to be honest they could probably charge more given the area and get away with it, so thank you for the kindest. The food was amazing! I gave 3 stars because every time i come here the service is slow. Earlier we ate and our server was a tall guy named Mr. P and he looks like he hates his job doesn't even smile, service is slow. It took him 15mins until he came to our table. It wasn't even busy. He knew we were there. He didn't even greet us or apologized for waiting instead he ask directly "what can i get for you?". When he Drop off the bill he made us wait so we decided to go to the front and pay. He didn't even assist us or say thank you. I saw him wrapping the utensils i guess thats more important and to keep us wait. Lol. Is it because of our skin color? One of the nicest service experiences I've had at a Vietnamese restaurant. My father in law is not used to asian food so we wanted to give him a new experience. Everyone found something we liked. The nice thing about Simply Pho is that they are more of a mixed cuisine restaurant. They have pho, but also Thai curries, fried rice and your typical Americanized Chinese food. Don't forget their extensive menu of bubble tea. I think the tea place is on the other side so you can pop in for a quick drink if that is all you want. The pho was fine. Nice broth and a decent meat to noodle ratio. The beef lemon grass dish on a sizzling platter was super tasty. Although it did have a lot of pepper, I enjoyed it with the side of rice they gave me. I also liked the honey dew milk tea. Service was top notch. My son happened to throw a tantrum, which he does rarely, but the server and manager were all very nice about it. They didn't get upset and let him hide under the sign. Great experience. We will be back next time we are in ATX. read more

I came in the other day with my family and it was the first time going for dine in as I usually ordered To Go. We walked in and waited at the host stand for at least five minutes before anyone acknowledged us and finally took us to a table, it seems they don't have designated people to host. We were seated and a couple minutes later a waitress asked us what we would like to drink, again we waited several minutes and were ready to order our meals. We waited at least another ten minutes and no one came back so we left the restaurant. Have had the Pho, Kung Poa, Singapore Noodles and several curries. Food and service very good. Only reason not 5 star is I wish the protein pieces in the meals were cut smaller and easier to manage and that they had the Thai chilis as stated on the menu. The beef in the Pad See Ew was overlooked and dry. The Pad Thai was so dry. We told the server and she relayed our message to the manager. What a disappointment.....the pho order took nearly 30 mins and I was the only customer, it was explained to me that the kitchen had to "heat up the broth" which is why it took so long. Speaking of broth, it was the saltiest broth I've ever eaten, so I left most of it behind. And for some reason, the noodles were so stuck together they wouldn't even come apart in the broth after 5 minutes. Worst bowl of pho I've had in years, maybe ever. We often visit Simply Pho in Dripping Springs and tonight went to this one in Bee Cave. The restaurant was very cold. When all customers are eating with coats on, there's a clue. We mentioned the cold and we're told there were issues with the HVAC and the same issues caused problems last year as well. As a customer, I really don't like eating while freezing. The pho was ok, but just ok. The main reason as the ribeye contained a lot of gristle and much of it was inedible. Service was also ok, but just. The server couldn't answer a couple of basic questions about the menu - something that simple training would have fixed. We'll continue to go to the Dripping Springs location, but not likely this one. read more
