Disappointing. This restaurant replaced blue bamboo recently which I didn't think was all that great either. We were really hoping for some high-quality, wonderful bánh mì that we didn't have to drive to Austin for. Unfortunately this is not the place. The pho had literally two very small pieces of chicken. For fun, I weighed the chicken _it was 1 oz... The bowl was half-full and cold. The bánh mì was literally the size of a dollar bill. It cost $4 and was made on what looked like one of H-E-B's dinner rolls. There was so little filling on the sandwich that the roll closed up on itself and looked empty inside. The vermicelli plate would have been good, the portion size was appropriate. It was disappointing that they did not include any sriracha or hoisin. The meat was charred literally black through and through. My son enjoyed using it to write with. This is absolutely without a doubt the worst pho experience we have ever had anywhere. Epic failure. Lunch out in Beecaves. Was craving for a big bowl of pho. The restaurant was clean and spacious. Servers were nice yet rude at the same time. We got our bill right after the food arrived... I would understand if we received the bill towards the end of the meal, not at the beginning. I found that quite rude and inconsiderate of the customers. At first I thought it was just our table, but looking around a few other tables (with the same server) got their bills when their food arrived too! The banh mis are priced at 3.25-3.50 but you get the smallest and saddest little sandwhich. Meat and veggie portion is minimal and it taste very average. Also why are there green onions in a banh mi? Good news, it's the best if not the only pho place in the area. The service is great and the beef brisket pho, chicken pho, and grilled chicken vermicelli are good not great. The drinks are great. I do NOT recommend take out service. There are frequent miscues in accuracy and they place it in styrofoam instead of plastic, and meat portions are small when you consider Texas is known for big portions of meat. I've also been to Marble falls location and the service and options are also good. My recommendation to management is to de-grease the pho broth, use beef broth for beef pho and chicken broth for chicken pho, please use light oil for the vermicelli noodles, add much more naturally seasoned (no MSG) meat (don't flatten like a crepe). I really enjoyed the 5 items we ordered here. Very freah tasting shrimp rolls. The peanut sauce served with them was a bit on the thick and sweet side but ok.The chicken pho and brisket pho ranked up with some of the best around and certainly came with more noodles than any other restaurant Ive been to. It said "Asian Cuisine" so my grandson and I decided to give it a try. We ordered for him a noodle and meathball dish on the kids' menu. It came in a big bowl, a serving of white rice noodles resting under a very watery cloudy water, along with some gray meatballs also underwater. He tasted it, made a face and wouldn't touch it again. I tried it. It tasted like lemon dish soap. I got the Combination fried rice. Just OK but I would not have it again. Somewhat dry. Almost no flavor. We ordered General Tso and Sweet n Sour Chicken to go for family at home. Their dishes were better but still lacking in much flavor. Sorry but we just won't be back. Very pleased with the menu offerings- banh mi, noodles, curries, pho, boba tea! Meal servings are definitely large enough to share. Great portion of dark leafy lettuce & cucumber with the Bun noodle dish and the grilled pork that came with it is served nice and thin so it has a good caramelized char. Decided to get the additional eggrolls and those brought some good memories of mom's rolls. SPH is a solid Asian food option. They offer Thai, Viet, and Chinese food. Personally, I stick to 2-3 entree items. The Pad Thai is always a favorite. If you didn't receive a peanut sauce with the Pad Thai it was not a mistake. The noodles are lightly oiled with shredded carrots, green onions, peanut crumbs and your choice of protein. When eating Asian food I find shrimp to be the best/safest option. The Thai Basil Fried Rice w/ Shrimp is also a good choice. Don't forget to order the Cream Cheese wontons. They are fat free (just kidding) and never disappoint. It comes with a thin red sauce that no one usually ends up eating. The egg rolls are good as well in my opinion. Overall it's a good Asian restaurant. The 71 health score wasn't too reassuring, but the food tasted great. I personally have never sat down for service at this location. That being said, the food is very delicious and well priced. I have gone in for the pork & rice plate, and I have gotten the chicken and shrimp vermicelli noodles. Both were excellent. The pot stickers were ok. I highly recommend the spring rolls with shrimp or tofu for your appetizer. All of my orders are to go and the people that serve when I arrive are always in great spirits despite how busy they always appear to be. The establishment looks clean compared to most of the competition in the Austin area. Now let's talk about the real star of the show. Their amazing drink menu. I love Asian beverages!!! Everything from the coffee to the Thai tea they sell. I highly recommend the cold mocha with bobas. Also the creamy mango smoothie is excellent. My only beef with this place and reason for the 4 stars is that, I feel like the portions are way too small. I mean for a 10$ plate (still not costly) I would like to see a bit more if I could. After 30 mins the waiter brought me a plate of beef stir fry. I told him this is not what I've ordered. He went back to the kitchen and came out, look me straight in the eye and told me that was the item I ordered. I felt confused and started eating.. Unconvinced, I decided to check the menu again (and i was right), so i told the waiter, I really did order a stir-fried rice noodle with beef. He took my dish back to kitchen and I overheard the chef doesn't even know what is Pad Mae Keow (fry flat noodle), and finally admitted he made a mistake. This is hands-down the best Vietnamese restaurant in Austin. Their salt and pepper dishes, especially the tofu variety, would hold up against the best of Houston, Philly, or NYC. We've been here at least 10 times at this point, and it's actually pretty astounding how consistently delicious and perfectly cooked this food is. Their eggplant dish is a standout as well. In fact, for vegetarians, I don't think there is better cooked tofu in town in any cuisine. Their tofu is head over heels better than the best Chinese restaurants in town too- Sichuan River and Asia Cafe. I have a tendency to be pretty snobbish about food. Definitely a fault of mine. A Vietnamese/pan-Asian restaurant with locations in Marble Falls and Bee Cave/Hill Country Galleria-area brings certain expectations. I thought I was about to try a PF Chang's/Mama Fu's quality restaurant, which would have been okay. This destroyed all expectations in the best possible way.
