First of all, I really want everyone who gave this place five stars to really have a five star nail salon experience. This ain't it. This place is dirty. As in, the floors are dirty, the stations are dirty, the nail dryers are dirty. I put my hand into the dryer (I got a gel manicure) and it felt slick (i.e. dirty) and I could clearly see other people, many people's, fingerprints on the dryer pan, not to mention that the outside of the unit clearly hadn't been wiped down in a while...as indicated by the lines of dirt that was around it's edges and crevices. All it would have taken would be a paper towel and a Windex wipe. Boom, done...but no, it was dirty. Moving onward, the manicure itself actually didn't feel rushed, but omg...they start by melting off my previous gel by soaking forefingers in straight acetone! Seriously! People, that's not how we do it. Every other nail salon I've been to from NY to LA, will put little cotton pads of nail remover on your fingernail (just the fingernail) and wrap it with aluminum foil to keep it in place. Having customers put their hands in acetone is just ridiculous! Then in the middle of my manicure another technician sits down and starts doing another customer's nails. This technician then tries to use the file that was just used on me on her customer. Thank goodness my technician stopped her, but clearly cleanliness and sterility is not a mandate here. Ok, so the end product ... some nail polish on the nail bed skin and rather uneven shaping. Definitely not a five star manicure ...or even four...or three. Maybe it was a two star manicure, without thinking about the cleanliness factor. Cleanliness included - one star. Not going back. read more

So, I really like this place! I do. Their pedicures feel great and I really enjoy the atmosphere. But I have to minus two stars for their polish application. There is one lady who does it perfectly. But most of them apply the polish really fast with really thick coats. It takes forever to dry and chips the next day. If you go here you will get a great mani or pedi. Just make sure that you are assertive and don't leave with ugly polish. read more

Terrible. Probably the worst experience I've ever had with getting my nails done. I don't think I've ever spent so long at a nail salon while simultaneously having my nails done in the most rushed manner possible. I was there for 2 hours and most of that time was spent in the chair just waiting for someone to acknowledge me (my friend was done in a fraction of the time and just had to wait around for me). My pedicure was fine, looks-wise, but the woman spent almost no time on what I will call the "clean up" part. Like come on, woman, scrub the roughness off my heels! That's why I get pedicures; to avoid the tedious clean up functions that this woman clearly didn't want to do either. The woman who did my manicure was nice but she was in such a hurry that she cut me three times! And not just a little prick. I was bleeding from all three fingers that she jabbed. I had to wait a few minutes for the blood to clot before she could continue. I also asked for gel and she just gave me a regular french manicure. By the time it occurred to me that something wasn't right, I just decided to let it go because I was so hungry I just wanted to get out of the place. Long story short, I left with my nails all jagged, some of the polish already chipping, and anger in my heart. I probably wouldn't go back even if they were giving out free mani/pedis. This review is for Bon, and it's about TWO YEARS overdue. Before I get into an exceedingly long paragraph about how wonderful Bon is, here's what you need to know: *Bon is a SWEETHEART. *He's VERY attentive to detail and doesn't let small annoying things get over looked only for you to discover them after you leave. *Extremely affordable. Quality price for a quality job! *Very open to trying something new and/or using any image you bring in for reference/inspiration. Super flexible and always excited. *Those massages, my god! Prepare yourself. They're epic! *Bon's "glitter manicure" will CHANGE YOUR LIFE! Now that you've got the highlights, here's the real scoop: I found Bon about two years ago after a solid year of trying new nail techs every 2-4 weeks only to be dissapointed every single time, whether it be by lack of quality or exponential price. (I love an expensive set of nails, but I can't afford $150+ every 3-5 weeks). Finally I found Bon, who's taken care of all my nail needs! First we did acrylic glitter "claws" for about 6 months, but unfortunately my nails have always been so thin that acrylics and their upkeep just destroy my nail bed. Bon suggested I try Gelish, and we decided to mix the loose glitter with the gelish clear top coat, and the clouds parted, and angels sang, AND THE BEST MANICURE EVER WAS DISCOVERED. Bon mixes my favorite glitter (which is either from the salons personal collection and/or what I bring from binges Michaels/Joannes craft stores), then mixes it with Gelish clear coat, applies it, cures it with UV light, repeats this 2-3 times, then ta-da! I have the SHINIEST, STRONGEST, most fabulous manicure in all the land! They're HARD like acrylics, but slightly flexible from the gel so they don't constantly break like acrylics, removal/redos/maintenance is FAR less damaging to my nail/nailbed than acrylic maintenence, and I can't go ANYWHERE without women (and even men) freaking out about my nails and needing to know where I got them done. Ladies.. If you love glitter, Bon's "glitter manicure" is better and more sparkly than any glitter polish you'll EVER find, without having to commit to acrylics with your fragile nail beds! Plus.. THEY LAST 4-6 WEEKS! No joke! No chipping, no breaking nails, no excessive "lifting".. And that's with me being a hair stylist AND working at a professional piercing studio.. That means my nails endure water/hair washing/shampoo bowls/hand sanitizing/glove donning/glove removal/hand washing ALL DAY. And my nails are still fabulous! So that's my Yelp. Bon is wonderful. He deserved this yelp review two years ago. In fact, Bon deserves a raise, a vacation and daily high-fives. He's great. This nail salon rocks! The salon is very warm and inviting and the staff is so sweet. They offer you a free drink when you arrive and they really take the time to make your nails perfect. They were super busy and they still didn't rush through my pedi/mani. The chairs are great and give a good massage. I got french polish on both my hands and feet and they look so good!!!! The opened a fresh sterile package for tools for both my mani and pedi. The total was $45 for mani/pedi WITH FRENCH POLISH. Its $35 for both w/o french. I give this is place two stars because of cleanness and the selection they have of OPI nail polishes. I got a manicure done by "Jessica". I told her I wanted them squared and she left them squared like I wanted them but sooooo sharp at the edges, sooo sharp they feel worst then cat claws. She made me appreciate the manicurist I have near my house in San Leandro. I am very picky when it comes to manicures since my mom is one and I know when the services is being done right. Also the paint job on my nails is alright but not the best. I will never come back for a manicure maybe a pedicure but hopefully not with Jessica again. I went in to replace a broken nail & Sabrina asked me my name, if I'd been there before, etc. Unbeknownst to me she sent someone into the back to check my review and a few moments later I was whisked into a Pedi chair to make up for the lack of callous removal on my initial Pedi at no additional cost to me. The gel/acrylic nails are 5 star. Best I have had in the city. I have been getting these done off and on for almost two decades. I think this is the one of the best set of nails I have ever gotten. (Next step - I will load the pics of what my nails look like - a full 2 weeks - now.) My nails still look newly done. NO LIFTING. Lift has been my biggest problem with fake nails. To fix this, I have often had to get fills done really frequently in order to prevent lift - like weekly. This gets really expensive. My nails need to be perfect, and with Simply Unique they are. I went to Simply Unique Nails based on the positive yelp reviews and a friend of mine goes here and her nails always look great. Unfortunately I have to give this place one star. For the most part I had a good experience. I made an appointment and was seen quickly. The guy who did my nails, used his long, gnarly thumb nail to push down my cuticles. When he was done and sprayed alcohol on my nails, they burned and bled. A day later, the area around my cuticles of all my nails are red and inflamed. My nails look good, but the skin around them is still sore...this is why I give SUN one star. read more

I went here for the first time tonight, and I will definitely be back. First of all, this is a place where making an appointment means something. I long tired of making "appointments" only to appear at a nail place and wait for 20-30 minutes like everyone else. Not here! My friend made reservations for three of us and they had three chairs, together, waiting right after we arrived. We were celebrating, and we brought some champagne. The champagne bottle uncorked itself (no kidding). The wire part over the cork was not even completely unwound and the cork shot out, hit the ceiling (and fortunately not a glass lamp fixture), and got champagne all over the floor. Did they care? Not too much. They got glasses and a towel and hustled us off to our appointment. If I'd been working here, I would have thought everyone was drunk already and shooed them out, but we weren't and they didn't. The hand and arm massages were AMAZING. They have someone undone my knitting claws (aka "hands") and made them functional again. My hands and feet look stunning and nothing burned or hurt. I love, love, love this shop! They are the best mani/pedi place in the Bay Area. I drive all the way from Marin County because I'm obsessed with their services! They offer a deluxe mani and pedi for $50 that is unbeatable. It includes Paraffin dip for both your hands and your feet! It leaves them so soft! They of course have the big comfy massage chairs and offer you coke/tea/water while you are there. They have tons of OPI colors to choose from. Did I mention I love this place!? Came here after a friend raved about the service and quality of work. I must say I'm super impressed. They are clean, polite and have NEVER damaged my cuticles. I get acrylics with gel color on top and it always lasts 2 weeks (or more when I don't make it in). I started making appointments instead of walk-ins because they got a little crowded! I've gotten both a pedicure and pink & white nails done here and both experiences have been amazing. I give this place a four for getting me in and out fast. I came in for a gel manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax. Everything came out to be $72 plus tips. Also keep in mind that I got one of those gel manicure which usually cost about $30-$35. I think they are reasonably priced. I was running late and I was happy that they were able to accomodate me 5 minutes before close. I was re-assured by the front desk that they will replace and fix my nails if it get chipped anytime soon. read more

I used to live around the corner, but even after my move, its worth the trek to come back here. The staff is super friendly, remembering my name after my third visit. During my bi-monthly visits, they ask me questions about how things have been which gives it a homey feeling. I get my eyebrows done here every month and the are perfect and painless every time, regardless of who does them. They give great hand and foot massages with the manicures and pedicures, which is worth the extra $2 per service I spend here as opposed to the competition. My polish, for some reason, seems to last a few days longer here than other mani/pedis I have had. They take appointments and are also really good about accommodating walk-ins. I have seen them turn away people if they were really busy which I appreciate as opposed to making you wait forever. I seriously love this place!!! read more

Again, thanks to my fellow yelpers, I have found a great place to get my mani/pedi. The staff were super sweet. They offer you complimentary bevgs. like soda and from what I saw ( I had brought my own juice) they were given whole cans and not just soda poured into a cup. That was a nice touch.
