I came here with two friends the other day for dinner and had a very nice time. We decided to order several items and share them all. Everything was good, but my favorites were the Tod Mun appetizer and the Citrus Beef. The Tod Mun were crispy fried fish cakes served with an excellent, vinegary cucumber relish. The relish had just the right combination of sweetness, sharpness and heat to cut through the richness of the fish cakes. The Citrus Beef was another example of the great balance of flavors that I love about Thai food. Sweet, salty, spicy, rich and bitter all in the same bite. What more can you ask for? We also ordered pork, chicken and seafood curries. They were all good, but not at the same level. During our meal we also enjoyed some outstanding Thai Iced Coffee and Tea. We finished our night with two very unique Desserts. A Sticky Brown Rice and Sweet Tapioca. They are wheelchair accessible, but keep in mind that the restrooms are down a very narrow crowded hallway that is difficult to navigate. read more

Singha Thai is always busy. It doesn't matter what time of day, between the lunch buffet, easy carry-out, or dine-in, customers just keep coming. Over the years, the menu doesn't change much nor does the qualit of the food. It's consistently good. I've always found the decor at Singha Thai over the top which is contradictory to its strip mall location. The only knock I have about the place is the limited beverage offerings. As for the menu, with almost 200 choices, it can take a while to decide what to order. Whether it's the Singha Cashew Delight, Pepper Steak, Chicken Fried Rice, Spring Rolls, any of the seafood dishes, I am never disappointed. The servings are filled with generous portions of meat and vegetables and everything is spicy, and delicious. The food is never bland, always flavorful. Over the many years of going to Singha Thai, I have never been disappointed with the food. As for the service, it tends to be a little slow. But it's never like we're being ignored, it's more like they take things at a slower pace all the time. It's nice not to be rushed, to be able to relax and enjoy the company of my dining partner so I've learned not to take their slower pace personally. read more

I absolutely love the panang curry at Singha Thai. I really like the other ones too. Vegetables are crisp and the meats tender with just the right amount of seasoning. Their Pad Thai is okay too, but it comes with like 2 cups of diced raw cabbage. I don't get it. I don't like their spring rolls one bit. The wrapper is gritty, its not cut all the way through and when you try to break off a piece you end up with a huge mess on your hands as the innards fall everywhere except in your mouth. But overall, their good dishes are great, and I'm more than happy to stick to their curries forever. read more

I used to love love love this place but something changed since my last visit! I completely understand changing products and suppliers. But the food was bland compared to normal. I always looked forward to the sweet and sour sauce but it was salty and just not what I remember eating for the last 15+ years. Hope it was fluke. read more

I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars based on the ambiance. They did a great job at providing a cozy clean and authentic feel. More Importantly- the food: My Blood Pressure immediately shot through the roof when I put the first spoonful in my mouth. Let me preface the next few lines with a little background info: I can easily finish off 20 piece hot wings from KFC, or polish off a supersized big mac meal with 10 pc nuggets. We ordered several dishes that night at Singha and couldnt finish any of them. They were super salty to the point that I didnt even get it to go (I got the white rice to go). I asked the waitress if there was some mix up with sugar and salt in the back making the dishes high in sodium, but the waitress said that the dish was supposed to be that salty but 'not so salty when u eat with rice'. I went here last night because my fiance and I were craving some spicy thai food to warm our belly's as the high temp yesterday was 18 degrees. (Gotta love Wisco!) Anyways, this was by far the most expensive Thai food I have ever paid for and unfortunately, soooooo not worth it. Almost $20 for shrimp pad thai which had very few skimpy shrimp in it. It was basically all noodles and it was very sweet. Huh? The second dish we chose was a red panang curry which was so soupy and thin. It was not a creamy curry consistency that I am accustomed to eating. The crab puffs we ordered had a very thick dumpling layer that was overly deep fried. In the end not impressed and annoyed our bill tallied $43!!! The menu is completely overwhelming with hundreds of dishes and there is no organization or order. You have to use a fine tooth comb paired with patience to read the entire thing and make a decision. Perhaps we have been spoiled after living in Chicago for 3 years and being surrounded by some really tasty Thai restaurants. Our expectations may have been too high. If you want to just eat because you're hungry, then go here because the portions are large. However, if you really want good Thai food, skip this joint. It's not gonna happen. read more

We'll go here again, but it isn't the best Thai I've ever had, and the dishes are hit or miss. We've visited a couple times. It's a nice change of pace for us, but on the far side of town. We'd probably be here more often if it were closer. The service is fairly good. We've gone on busy weekend nights and the water glasses get filled etc. Beer is $4-$5/bottle, typical for Milwaukee trendy restaurants if a bit pricey. The tables aren't super close together, but the noise does carry. It felt like we were in our neighbors conversations. Not a particularly romantic atmosphere. I don't think I'd want to take a date here. The food has some spice to it, but it's a bit hit or miss on the quality. Tonight I tried Tanya Tofu, a dish that was pretty much overfried tofu in a sweet and spicy sauce. I do not recommend this dish. My dining companion had the Signha Cashew Delight with tofu and it was excellent. The tofu was a bit oddly prepared, but all in all it was good, and we'd order it again. read more

I have been eating here for over 15 years....Ordered almost $100 dollars worth of take out last week for a few friends that came by at dinner time during the holidays. The food was awful! Very little meat and Pud Thai was too sweet. Beef fried rice costs $10 bucks and had a tiny bit of beef and and a bunch of fresh wedged tomatoes???? Volcano chicken batter was doughy and separating from all the chicken pieces. As I have read from other reviews rice should be fresh and mine was not as it was clumpy and dry in parts. This place used to be the standard by which I judged other local Thai. Really hard to understand why take out is always disappointing as this happened the last time as well. Super cheap on quality and has lost touch on flavor. I don't know what it is about their waitstaff but they are never friendly and just go through the paces like human trafficked employees that hate their jobs and Americans. I'll be driving to Esane. My family loves this place and we have been going here for years. As a vegetarian, I have only tried 4 or 5 main dishes. The menu offers over 200 choices. We used to order the egg rolls. They are delicious. However, they have pork so we no longer get them. We always get an order of spring roll that 5 of us share, enough for a couple mouth-fulls. The plum sauce is phenominal! I would order this as a entree if alone. The vegetable fried rice: greasy, but very delicious Pud thai - phenominal. Ask for the spice tray with it for a kick, because pud thai is super sweet. I also order steamed vegetables on the side because the pud thai itself is mostly noodle and sauce. Vegetable delight - I don't care for this, I think it is just salty and bland, but my mom loves it and orders it all the time. The others in our group love the Rasha chicken (it is spicy, I hear, but they love the flavor). I had the vegetable curry on Saturday. It was good. However, when reheated the next day it was very "fishy" smelling. I think I will go back to pud thai next time. The Thai Ice Tea and Ice Coffee are delicious. Service is always good. As a child, you couldn't have gotten me to eat a pepperoni because I thought it was too spicy... now, nothing is too spicy (well, almost nothing - there was this one vindaloo I will not speak of...). Anyway, Thai food is one of my favorites for that reason - I love the spices, and I love it hot. Singha Thai does a great job with the flavoring of their food. I've had the green kang curry many times, and the panang beef is one of my favorites now. The spices are great the way they are meant to be, however, if you want it spicier, they will make it spicier. It doesn't even offend me when the waitress asks "are you sure??" Psshh. She has no idea. Another great thing is that they are open until at least 9:00, even on Sunday when many other restaurants are closed (and 10 pm on Fri/Sat). Their take-out is fast, and the portions are good-sized, so you can enjoy your spicy spicy thai for more than 1 meal! read more

We've been going since they opened in the early 90s. Used to live a few blocks away and the food has been and is awesome. Easily the best Thai in Milwaukee. Also my favorite from all and I've traveled a lot as a field engineer and seek out Thai food as a rule. We've known the owners and even attended a family wedding years ago. You won't find better Thai food in SE WI. Try the Thai iced tea, spring rolls-wrapped not fried, and pad kee mai with chicken - order native Thai spicy if you dare (my favorite migraine cure) or Kang Dang with shrimp or seafood or chicken. read more

I like to get take-out here when I have a hankerin' for Thai food. I usually get the Curry Vegetarian (I ask for NO water chestnuts. I dislike them, and they use way too many to pick out). The BF gets the chicken satay, and I could eat that peanut sauce with a spoon. I don't, okay! I'm just saying I could. Something I just found out TODAY (after years of coming here I finally asked) is that they have unadvertised small sizes of their soups. I would have been getting soup all this time. Drat! Singha Thai is a very big restaurant with alot of Thai decor... Statues, little dolls, large plants and gold art pieces. I ordered pudsee eww noodles, red curry with beef and Thai iced tea. The food came out less then 10- 15 mins. Food is very good but the bill was high for only 3 things. This place is nice for a big party cause of alot of room and decor but honestly, I know a couple Thai restaurants with better Thai food for more reasonable price. The service is really what saves this place. As we don't eat fish sauce, fish oil or eggs, the staff was really accommodating in making sure none of the dishes included those ingredients, and readily substituted many of the meats with tofu. Our server was very friendly, and all the dishes were brought out in a timely manner. As for the flavor of the dishes, I've definitely had better thai food. We ordered fried tofu as appetizers, which were crunchy, warm, and came with a peanut-soy dipping sauce. For the main entree's, we got an order of pad thai, pad kee mao, panang curry and a cashew delight curry. The pad thai was SUPER sweet and swimming in a goopy oil-sauce, which was not great. The pad kee mao was decent, but the noodles were overcooked; they were very mushy and melted in your mouth. The panang curry was also decent, but more of a "vegetables with light sauce" than a curry, and the cashew delight was basically cashews, snow peas, mushrooms and capsicum swimming in soy sauce. The flavor of the dishes were very mild and had to be spiced up with the accompanying sauces. The dishes were also a bit pricey, in the range of $14-$18 per dish. read more

Singha Thai is our favorite Thai restaurant, and our favorite Milwaukee restaurant. It's more than 20 miles for us, and well worth the drive. The menu is *huge*. The huge servings of delicious soups will serve several people, or be a hearty entre for one. I **never ever** order Pad Thai in any other restaurant in any town, because it's never as good as what I get at Singha Thai. The service is prompt and courteous, even through the 'plague.' We've seen the same staff there for years; I suspect some are owners. I have read that it's a woman-owned business, which we appreciate. The dining room is huge. If I had one complaint: The restrooms are not the best. Adequate, but just barely. read more

I decided to risk death by salt and to give Singha another chance to give me high blood pressure. I came here SuperBowl Sunday. It was dead, but there was a TV in the back where my man and I could enjoy the game with the employees. I have to say - it was pretty fun yelling "go go GO!! YEEAA!" in the middle of a pretty much empty restaurant (save 2 or 3 tables). We ended up getting completely different entrees than the last time (partially b/c we were totally disappointed previously) and went for the Pad See Ew with beef, Kang Green Curry w/ pork, and Crispy Noodles with veggies and pork. They were all delicious and well flavored! We made sure NOT to get the chicken - as theyr'e just dry slices of white meat. The Thai tea is still bleh...not as watered down as before, but it had way too much half/half so there was only a hint of the thai tea flavor. Luckily with these entrees, there was not a moment of "omg - I can't swallow this down" or "I just felt my blood pressure spike" or "i need water NOW" (as was the case last time.) Overall, definitely improved from my last visit. This has been an immortal favorite of mine for over a decade. I've lived all over the West Coast. The Pacific is typically an oasis of Asian cuisine, yet I still find myself watering my lips over memories of Shingha's savory noddle and rice dishes. It seems common for a place to come out strong, then deteriorate over the years. To my delight, Shingha has stayed consistent. Friendly atmosphere and family staff (Muni, she's the best.) The take out orders are just as delicious as when eaten in. Unlike a previous reviewer, I don't find their food too salty or overloaded with the essence of MSG. They don't make the mistake of using so much spice as to overwhelm the taste of the dish. Any complaints? My family & I stopped here last year on the drive back from Michigan to SoCal, & I found this place ( thanks yelp ) they were skeptical, but I knew in my heart of hearts, there was nothing to fear. However, I did not know that we would have stumbled upon such a gem! In Milwaukee of all places!!! I have eaten a lot of Thai food throughout my life, a literal LOT. The more I come here, the more I like Singha Thai. Their service is superb. The restaurant is big and you always get seated right away. Food always comes out super fast. Lately, there has been this amazing employee who anticipates all of my hydration needs. My water is always refilled the second my glass starts to deplete. You can get an entire pot of tea for $1. As long as I live, I shall sing the praises of Singha Thai. This restaurant literally has the best pad thai I have ever had, in any state, anywhere. I visited this restaurant throughout my childhood, and now that I no longer live in the Milwaukee area, I still try to make a point of dining there whenever possible, and once in a while family members even bring me their takeout, which brightens my whole week! Despite having eaten there for a good 15 years, I've never had anything besides their pad thai. It's that good. Please don't skip over this dish. Their spring rolls (the non-fried ones) are also extremely delicious, and the sauce and the green onions compliment them perfectly. The service is not great, and in recent years seems to have taken a turn for the worse, but they could probably torture me and I'd still come and eat their pad thai. When I moved to the east coast, I often thought of Singha Thai and tears literally came to my eyes when I imagined them closing for business without me getting one last chance to have their pad thai. Very nice place to eat. Traveling in WI on business and found this gem. Very deceiving from the outside, it is cosy on the inside. The cold weather made it easy to head inside. Either the bar for good quality Thai has been raised in metro Milwaukee, or the quality of the food here has fallen. I rarely dine in here, used to get carryout a lot, thought it was quite good. Came here tonight with a coworker, had an ok meal. The setting is strip mall West Allis, big room, not much character, usually not too busy so you get plenty of space and privacy. The service is good, not great, not particularly warm or caring. The lunch buffet is a good deal, some things good sometimes. The menu is so extensive that there is no way most of this is freshly prepared. I had the collard greens which were pretty tasty, not overcooked, but with an overly sweet sauce. There were some crab rolls which were good. The chicken satay was cut way thicker than most places, lacked much in the way of spice. The namsod pork salad was just the right degree of spiciness. The serving size is very big, usually enough for three meals, if you don't share. I did not have the Pud Thai tonight, but as takeout, it is always very good. All in all, ok, but given some of the other Thai places (EE Sane, Jow Nai Fouquet), Singh Thai is not in the top tier. read more

Bottom line up front: this place has gone downhill. I'd give it one and a half stars if I could. Stopped for dinner Saturday evening. Only a few tables of patrons. We sat up by the window. We were seated promptly and I ordered Yum Nuer (beef salad, $14) immediately. Generous portion. Beef had lots of tendon. Not charred, either. No chilis, no cilantro, no evidence of fish sauce. Pud Kee Mao (noodles, choice of meat, with veggies in "spicy" sauce, $17) with chicken was passable, however the sauce was not spicy (no Thai chilis in a Thai "spicy" dish?!?) even though there were a few slices of jalapeños. The basil fried rice ($12) was drenched in brown sauce, and there was no egg in it. It was as if plain white rice was drenched in the same gravy as the Pud Kee Mao, Agee pieces of basil added, and plated without quick frying. Lastly, the "Crispy Fish with Chili," ($18) described as, "pan-fried catfish filet with hot sauce," was the worst. It was not crispy at all and the fish meat was chewy. It was drenched in a rather bland brown sauce with vegetables. Again, no Thai chilis in this Thai dish, save a few slices of jalapeños. Thai cuisine is famous for its use of Thai chilis, so why use jalapeños? All in all the food was VERY disappointing. But like a bottle of wine that you don't like, unless it turned, you can't send it back. The food was consumable, but very unremarkable and unauthentic. At least our server, the N. This establishment is still one of my favorites and continues to offer superior Thai cuisine. Today I had the beef noodle soup with bean thread noodles instead of the rice noodles. The bean thread noodles are a much more diabetic friendly option for me. The Thai egg roles are filled with glass noodles instead of cabbage and feature a delicate crisp wrapper instead of the more traditional heavy flour wrapper. I got the green curry with pork to go. The menu is extensive and features countless other Thai options. Also the owner finally recognizes me and is very nice. read more

I started eating here when I was a little girl. I moved away when I turned 20 but have been back a handful of times over the years. I have never had a bad experience here! The tom yum is one of the best I've had...mee krob is a sweet crispy appetizer that you can't find at any other Thai locations...just all around great. My husband and I usually fight for Asian food when we eat together, it's fun and so yummy. Today, we ordered Pud Thai and green curry chicken from Singha. Let's just say both items looked so unappetizing there's still some left over and we are still hungry. The green curry was watery and not as described as it was missing peas. Pud Thai was flavorless. I am hoping there will be a new Thai place soon because this place is not only over priced but they don't care if you like their food. I don't care about them either because I won't be back. If there's one restaurant I really miss, this is the place. I worked in the area for years and ate many many lunches here as well as dinners. The menu contains over a hundred different items, which might be a red flag to some - but everything I've ever ordered has been delicious. Their Singha Cashew Delight is amazing. I cook alot and have tried to replicate this dish many many times with disappointing results. It is hands down one of my favorite meals of all time (and if someone from the restaurant is reading, could you pleaase pleassse message me the recipe for the sauce?:) ) The prices are also very good considering the portion sizes. Im a pretty big guy, 6'2'' 200lbs, but I will more often than not - eat half the meal for my lunch and have them box up the rest with extra rice and that will be my dinner or my lunch the next day. read more

Quite large restaurant. Warm and inviting. Cloth table cloths but paper napkins. Fairly large menu. Very willing to put tofu into anything that has meat. Ordered cashew nut with tofu. Nice taste. Slightly sweet. I forgot to ask for no fish sauce and yea! They did not put any on the dish. Nice balance of vegetables. Great sauce. They did not ask how hot I wanted it and it came with no heat. Food was not good. Dish that should have had chicken and shrimp only had small canned shrimp, no chicken. They don't even use jasmine or basmati rice, it seems, I have never in my life been to a Thai restaurant that used plain white rice. I ordered the Panang Curry, which I have had at probably 20+ places in my life, this ranked at almost the bottom. Quality of the meat was not good. Also, the place itself seems a little dirty or something, certainly not remotely classy nor elegant as someone described it. The best thing about the meal was the Thai iced tea. Won't be going back.
