I've tried many Thai places in Austin and Sip Saam Thai is my absolute favorite. Their food is the best and they never disappoint. I love the Pad Thai with tofu. The yellow curry is amazing as well. This is my all time favorite Thai place. I am in love with their crab fried rice. It's so light compared to fried rice at other places. Their pad Thai is amazing as well! Got takeout and my entire family really enjoyed it. We got the Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodles. Not as good as eating in person but good amount and still pretty delicious. I liked how simple it was to order through Yelp, I just walked in and grabbed my order. Only complaint is that I ordered pork with my Drunken Noodle but they must have mixed it up and put chicken. Sip Saam Thai definitely has thing for presentation. I don't pay much attention to that aspect of restaurant eating, but their service is very consistent--even their takeaway looks fancy. I don't eat red meat, so I can't speak to those dishes; however, I can't think of a dish _I've_ ordered that I've disliked. This is one of my comfort food choices, and of the places I visit regularly; this is the one for which I couldn't tell you what my next meal might be. My most frequent choice is the (sweet and spicy) fried chicken wings. I often make a meal of just appetizers--chicken and tom yum (chicken or vegetable) soup. Before trying the wings, I used to always order their other chicken appetizer--the grilled chicken skewers. My go-to meal was pad see ew too, but I now prefer their drunken noodles. (That change was probably due to my palette growing up--reduced frequency of sweet thing--but the hook was probably my thing for garlic and fresh, crunchy veggies. ^^ ;) A note on salt: After a trip to Belgium, my tolerance for salt in food dropped and never quite recovered; this was one of the few restaurants where I didn't suffer salt shock in the early weeks after returning. The pad see ew I might've paused; but I may have been on meal-comprising-appetizers trend by then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In addition to the appetizers, I also like their (mmm) mango fried rice, tom kha soup, and salmon curry. I still don't know how I feel about coconut milk, but I like the different flavor contrasts in my Sip Saam meals. I wish they offered steamed vegetables (a la carte); otherwise, this is probably I'm grateful there's I have a clear conscience (;) comfort food option around the corner. Had a great experience at this restaurant. We ordered pad Thai and beef, green curry, chicken fried rice and spring rolls and my husband really loved the pad thai. It taste just like what we expected. He ordered green curry chicken and trued to get it spicy, however the waitress warned us that it will be super hot so he level it down and it wasn't spicy enough. If you are into spicy, go full blown. The atmosphere here is very nice and chic style. We were big party and got seated by the big long bench table. This is one of my favorite Thai spots in Austin. Definitely a go-to spot in north Austin. They recently expanded so there's pretty much never a wait. Everything I've had here before has been really good. They let you choose the spice level 1-10. Everything has great flavor and veggies stay nice and crunchy. Noodles are always cooked well too. The pad woon sen is probably my favorite in town. Pineapple curry is also very good and not too sweet. Boat noodles are pretty unique and hard to find anywhere else and also very good. They used to have kao soi which is super authentic and delicious, but they don't have it anymore. I wish they would bring it back!! Portions are pretty big too, I usually have to take some to-go. The only minor complaint is that sometimes there's a heavy fish sauce smell in the dining area. Fish sauce tastes good in food, but it's not very nice to smell. read more

A great find in North Austin! I've come here for lunch with coworkers and ordered the pad Thai chicken. Great price, huge portion and fast service. Also I've come here for dinner with a friend and got the Tom Kha hot pot soup. Sooo good and lots of lemongrass flavor! And since I eat slow, the waitress even offered to refresh my hot pot. I love this place for takeout as well as dining in for lunch and dinner! Lunch portions are a little different, the entree is smaller and is served with a salad and a potsticker. They also bring out fried wonton chips with a sweet chili sauce. Recently I went here for dinner with my dad and we shared a few plates. To start we had the salad rolls with shrimp which were really tasty but rolled a little loose in my opinion. Then we had this tofu stir fry dish and the papaya salad which we ordered with shrimp. The stir fry was great! The salad was too, but I am disappointed that it only came with 2 shrimp and it was like $4 extra! I find that kind of ridiculous... I just ordered the Pad See Ew to go this time and it was HORRIBLE! It was not salty at all, I could taste some sweetness but other than that there was no flavor (not spicy, salty, only faintly sweet bleh!!) Really like sip saam. While it may seem non-authentic due to decor, the food is really delicious. Would recommend the tom yum noodles and the khao soi. Not a huge fan of the tom kha but I won't ding them on that. Friendly staff, good prices, if only it wasn't so far north :( read more

So impressed with the quality of service and food here! My fiance and I came on a weekend evening and were seated quickly. The space feels very cozy, and there are a great amount of tables so I don't imagine there ever being a wait here. Our food came within minutes and it was all delicious. I ordered the drunken noodles, and while some of the noodles were not well-integrated to the dish (stuck together, still in their flat, uncooked shape) the taste made up for it. The vegetables, especially the tomatoes, had great flavor without being overpowered by the sauce or spices in the dish. We've also tried the pad thai, pad see ew, and fried rice and they are all equally wonderful. For thai food this is my new favorite spot in North Austin! Doesn't disappoint. read more

Where to improve: I felt the food quality was sub-par overall, and we ordered a lot of food. Feels like fast food quality, like the McDonalds of Thai. The pepper and partially cooked onions were a little too much for my taste, but the over all flavor was very peppery. They give you a lot of sticky rice to make you feel full.
