It was my first time trying their food after high remarks from my family. When I showed up to pick up my to-go order, the worker at the cashier( looked to be around 20s) handed me my food, and told me before entering my card to press two random buttons because "the card reader won't work unless otherwise" I agreed. They told me the total ($46), but when I received the receipt, the total was $56. I asked the worker why it was ten extra dollars and they told me that "the tip was automatic because that's the only way the card reader would work." I would have given them a tip anyway, but I don't appreciate being left in the dark and taken advantage of for a 20% tip. I personal thought the food was good, but a little confused. I ordered chicken kebabs with the Mediterranean salad and cucumber yogurt. The pictured show chicken on skewers with onions and peppers. I received just cut up seasoned chicken bites. I didn't know if the picture was false advertisements or that's just how they do it, but I thought the chicken was tasty. The cucumber yogurt tasted like pickles, but that was my first time having it so I didn't know if that it was it should taste like. I really enjoyed the Mediterranean salad, very flavorful with lots of veggies. My family got the beef shawarma with humus. They said the shawarma tasted like jerky and that the humus tasted dusty. They said it was way better the first time and was super disappointed. I would get their food again, but I would order online so that I know what tip I'm giving them. read more

Well.... They didn't have half of the sides available and their wasn't any pita bread ! Our food was dry and a little bland. The hummus was actually really bad. This is my second time coming here and although I wasn't disappointed with my first visit I am with my second. I ordered a chicken kebab plate like last time and also a three skewer combo plate where I got to pick what kind of kebabs I'd like to have. First off you're limited to only one Lamb or one beef but can have more than one chicken and this isn't stated on the menu so you find out when you try to order. Oh well no big deal right I'll just take one of each, one chicken, one beef and one lamb. When I was ordering I asked specifically if the beef would actual be meat chunks and I was told yes it would. When I got my plate I found out that it wasn't true. They use some kind of flat steak which is not traditional get when you order kebabs and on top of that I was only gave me three pieces of this thin meet. Also the lamb was only three small pieces. When you look at the pictures on the menu it doesn't look at all like what I got. Also if they're going to serve you less meat on the beef and lamb skewers than they do on the chicken I would expect that to be said to me or reflected in the menu. If I would've known this ahead of time I would've ordered very differently. Otherwise as far as flavor goes the food taste pretty good although the beef was very overcooked for my taste especially considering I ordered it medium rare. Makes sense though, it is more difficult to cook a thin steak medium rare. I feel like my first meal the chicken combo plate was a good value but the three skewer plate was not at all and made me feel like I got gypped or tricked. I tried this place soon after they first opened a few years ago. The food was bad and customer service worse. Because I love middle eastern food I decided to give these guys another chance. Big.Mistake. I ordered food by telephone during the week around 11am, thinking I'd miss lunch rush. I also waited thirty minutes before heading out to pick up my order. I waited 45 minutes from the time I arrived, before my food was ready. When I got home I discovered the pita bread for both wraps was stale, the tabbouleh was mush, and they did not pack a veggie kabob that I'd paid for. I didn't bother calling to let them know because it would have been a waste of time. The owner is nice but super confused and disorganized. Never. Again. I chose the Chicken Shawarma plate and chose the Grape Leaf Rolls as one of my sides (came with 3 rolls) and the Mediterranean Salad as my second. Two sides come with the plate along with their garlic sauce and pita bread. I loved the seasonings and taste of my chicken and the rice. Not too many fatty pieces in the chicken which is my big issue with most places I go to. The grape leaf rolls were so tender and cooked well! Very tasty. I also paid for an additional side and chose mixed pickles thinking purple turnips would makeup the majority of this side. No, :( it didn't have any at all! It was pepperoncini, carrots, cauliflower and celery. The guys working there were nice enough to top off my mixed pickles side with some because they saw I was dissatisfied. The mixed pickles were good regardless but I know the purple turnips made it all the more better otherwise I probably wouldn't have ordered it. I hope the owner reconsiders maybe throwing inn some of the purple turnips to this side as I think it goes quite well. It was my first time ever trying Mediterranean food ever but I gotta say JDO in up town would make me wanna come back and enjoy different dish of Mediterranean food. I had the beef shawarma wrap and it was delicious with some hot sauce and it's fire the hummus was awesome as well taste homemade the other plate was the number 9 three kabob plate came with rice three kabob chicken, beef or lamb and two sides so technically 3 sides. I got two beef one chicken and rice and as for my sides I got hummus and potato salad which all three sides were delicious along with the chicken and beef I would recommend this to some friends and family and for dessert I heard the baklava was fire and seems like it cause they actually sold out today when we came in. But will be getting more sometime next week cause they get it from San Diego so I'll be back for some of that next weekend til next time thank you for the food read more

My favorite dish to order is the kebab plate, the meat is flavorful and always cooked to perfection. Falafel is AMAZING - so crispy on the outside and tons of flavor. The online ordering is so easy and food is ready quickly and you don't have to keep waiting for the phone line to not be busy to get your order in. I highly recommend the spicy hummus; it's not really spicy but it has a delightful hint of heat to it. The rice is also seasoned so perfectly. This place is no longer the same. Prices are all $3-5 higher per plate. Which under recent circumstances, I can understand an increase in price, what I was shocked to find was that the portions are half what they used to be and basic. I ordered the hummus and sharma, which used to be a great meal, it had a generous amount of meat on top of hummus with a topping of onions and some other fresh stuff. Now it's a small container with 1/2 the meat and no veggies. Totally not worth it...and for $3 more! Even worse, they have changed the meat and it's not as good as it once was. On top of all of this, when I asked why the portion had changed they were very rude and acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. I think the management has changed as well because they are a lot less friendly than they used to be. It might now be the same people at all. I love Jdo Mediterranean. Its one of my favorite restaurants. I eat at this establishment at least twice a week. I'm a very loyal customer. I was sad when they closed for awhile during the pandemic. With that said I'm completely disappointed in their service lately. I had issues on three different occasions. The first time I was missing an item which I ordered through Postmates. Thats completely fine. It didn't bother me at all. The second time I received my bag full of oil. My food containers were completely soaked in this substance, my hands were oily and the bag was dripping as well. I wrote to Jdo about my experience, but never received a response back. The recent experience my wrap came falling apart. As soon I picked it up big pieces broke up everywhere. My food was everywhere. It was a disgusting mess. I tried to make it enjoyable. Yet, it was a absolute disaster. I bought a wrap and received a huge pile of revolting mess. My wife is in the restaurant business and I strongly suspect the wrap was old, because of how completely stale it was. I did not eat my food. It was repulsive. I called the restaurant to explain the situation. I did not expect to receive a free handout out. I wanted to let them know about this experience. I was greeted rudely and treated so poorly. The man who answered my call plainly said in a aggressive manner "well I don't know what you want me to do about it" Thats fine. I will never come to this restaurant again. Its sad, because this was my favorite place to dine, but the constant mistakes and awful customer service will never have me, my family or friends step foot or spend our money here again. read more

This is the best Mediterranean food in Whittier. They give filling portions on the plates. The beef is like carne asada steak chopped up and marinated to a salty tastey taco-like meat, if you get it "Shawarma" style. I'm not sure on that spelling. The sides are amazing. I come here for lunch 3 times a week. As a construction worker for Whittier I have found a gem in Whittier here. This only gets 1 star, because we used to cater before for office parties from here and everything was great always! The last time we catered. they were cheap with the rice, pita bread and salad. To add the oita bread was old and hard. I called to let the owner know that we had ordered and let him know what happened and he said he would speak to the staff and call me back. Very disappointed with their customer service and the manner in which the manager treated me. We ordered online to expedite our pick-up and when I arrived, it was a complete mess. Nobody could assist or locate my order. I showed the manager my phone order and confirmation, for which she rudely replied with "I don't have that order" and walked away. She was grossly unprofessional and her approached was beyond insulting as she scrambled around saying their system was malfunctioning. I asked her why she was being so rude to me and she had zero accountability for her demeanor.
