Who would have thought a snob like me would order sushi from a Chinese take-out spot in a strip mall by railroad tracks that also sells sushi? Now, it's not 5 star sushi or Morimoto. But for a Friday night in, the sushi is fine. I have ordered from here many, many times and have never gotten sick or horrible sushi. The chinese food isn't bad either. The staff here is super friendly and remember me by name. Even when I take a long hiatus. Prices are reasonable, it's clean and fast. For the area, I'm pretty sure this is as good as it gets for take out sushi. read more

This was my go-to Chinese food restuarant when I lived in Fair Lawn. They're always nice, the food is good, and the service is FAST. I lived about 5 miles away and ordered delivery that was at my door in 20 minutes one time. The Chinese food is fresh-the sushi isn't the best sushi I have ever had, but for on the go sushi made to order it definitely does the job! Not the type of place you would want to sit down and eat, but it's great for pick up and delivery. read more

First time ordering from here and I must say my boyfriend and I were fairly pleased. We ordered shrimp and lobster tempura, chicken and broccoli, and the generals chicken - delivery. Timely manner, hot food, and a polite driver. Heck even the man who took our order was polite and did not hesitate to describe to me any dish of which I questioned. So I must say. I ordered there for the first time after seeing all the great reviews. I was ecstatic that there was a Chinese AND sushi delivery spot near me. I was oblivious after years of living in Hawthorne. The delivery was quick. I always order the same things but this time I tried the American flag cuz a reviewer recommended it. Which was very yummy. And I had an Alaskan and avocado roll too. All 3 rolls filled me up but the price was a lil steep for me. $22 for one person. Yikes. I guess it's not a place I can order from often. read more

Been living in Fair Lawn a little over a year and this remains our go-to Chinese food restaurant. It is run of the mill takeout Chinese-I can't say it's the best but it's far from the worst. I do love that they remember my boyfriend's name every time he goes to pick up food-I feel like it's worth mentioning because it says something about their customer service. read more

Usually GREAT - they are quick and the food tastes great. BUT! I ordered their cold sesame noodles and they were terrible. The noodles were too thick. Instead of a thin rice noodle they were the thick standard ones. The sauce was too thick. It was impossible to eat. Gross. read more

Do not order from this place if you care about your gastrointestinal/general health. This was the first time we ordered from Six Happiness. We ordered the sashimi platter, tuna, salmon & yellowtail, which looked nice, until we tasted it. Absolutely tasteless. I quickly recalled the practice of injecting salmon & tuna w/dies, to make it more aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but the palette is not fooled. Neither of us could eat it. The 2 chicken dishes, orange chicken & sesame chicken, not only tasted exactly the same but consisted of 98 % fried dough w/ msg sauce. We dug, we excavated, but couldn't find any chicken. If we wanted fried dough we would have ordered churro's. Both tasted like chewy aged Elmers. As hungry as we were, neither of us ate more than 2 bites- everything went directly into the refrigerator. I hate to throw away "food". I tried to phone them but they had closed. One must be scrupulously careful when ordering Chinese. We both have stomach aches & feel dizzy. For local sushi near my house, I am impressed. I have yet to have a bad experience with my orders from Six Happiness. We usually order form here once a month, and tend to mix it up to try the different specialty rolls they serve. Have yet to have one I dislike. Worst place EVER for sushi.. If this was my first time experiencing sushi I would hate it and never try it again. Thank God I've had good sushi. Not only is their sushi horrible, so is their customer service.. I ordered 6 rolls spent over $30 and they only gave me one spicy mayo sauce and when I asked for 2 more since there were 3 of us that would be eating she said it would be $1 each.. But if I would have ordered each one separately then I would have gotten 6 each?.. So because I placed one big order I'm penalized for it and only get one? Total BS.. Told her I'm never ordering sushi from them again. And icing on the cake was they left the shrimp tail on the shrimp tempura roll and the spicy white tuna taste so bad, very fishy. I was excited to find a Chinese take out nearby, there are days when cooking is too much of a burden. Their delivery time was as promised but the food was not worth it. Last night was the second time I ordered from Six. First time around it was a mix of Japanese, Thai & Chinese food, just to see what they were good at. I'd say sushi was less than mediocre; pad thai was bad - spaghetti based, flavor was not right at all; General Tso's chicken was not great, but edible. I thought to give them another try, thinking that maybe they'd be better at Chinese cuisine. Egg drop soup - just the look of it was not appealing, had not even tried it; beef with mixed vegetables was ok, but not even good; chicken lo main was made with spaghetti (again!), dry, lacking flavor, and there were just a few pieces of chicken (in batter!) and specks of vegetables here and there. Overall, I ate at most half of a cup of food even though I was very hungry as I didn't have time for lunch. I opted for some nuts instead. No more Chinese take outs, not until I find a decent place. read more

Easily the best chinese food in town! Ordered recently, their chicken and broccoli was excellent, served over fluffy white rice. The woman at the counter was polite and even remembered my name, though I've only been there maybe twice now! Every time I've ordered for delivery, it was always prompt and the service has been good, so no complaints there. Never had a bad experience with Six. The sushi is also amazing, and who knew this quality sushi would be under the same roof as the chinese food? Incredible! Yuck. I ordered from here because I like sushi and my husband does not. Delivery took a very long time and my husbands general taos was soggy and his stomach hurt after and my sushi smelled so fishy I wouldn't even taste it. This place used to be fantastic, unfortunately I don't know what's happening there but it's gone way downhill. We've ordered from them for Japanese and Chinese. First we stopped ordering Chinese because it was greasy and not well made. Now it seems the Japanese food we loved has headed in the same direction. I've had a couple of incidences with them regarding the Ikura being old. This is the first time I've encountered salmon that was so old and mealy and grey I was astonished. I threw it out, called to complain and was told the sushi chef said it was ok. I was incredulous, I told them " please don't let him serve this to anyone you can make people really sick". Since I've been a good customer for a while I got a refund for the roll. I'm seriously debating about wether or not I'll ever order there again. It makes me sad. read more

After the sale of empire hunan in fair lawn to new people and the resulting change in food quality to absolutely terrible and inedible, we have been trying out every local establishment seeking a replacement. I am pleased to report that six happiness is the winner, both for Chinese and sushi! It's a rare find to have both types of food so deliciously prepared, but we love everything we've ordered so far. The sushi selections include the usual and some original rolls not seen elsewhere like the French sushi roll. The boneless spare ribs are by far the best we've ever had anywhere, and the dumplings are on a par with the ones you usually have to travel to Chinatown to get. The delivery prep is a bit haphazard, once we did not receive the usual side packets of sauces and crispy noodles, and once one of the entrees was wrong, (still delicious though) but the quality of the food more than makes up for this. If they develop consistency in what they deliver they will earn their fifth star for sure! Highly recommend! read more

The food is nasty and the place looks filthy. Im shocked at the great reviews! Im assuming that the people leaving these "raving" reviews probably have never dined outside of Fair Lawn. Yes, the owner is a very nice lady, but 1) she needs to learn how to cook chinese food (let alone Japanese food), 2) the restaurant needs to remove the grease vapor or whatever it is that is engulfing the whole place, 3) the staff should be required to maintain a clean appearance and 4) although they are cute, the staff's children running around the restaurant can get annoying. read more

We've lived in Fair Lawn for almost 10 years and have been customers of this restaurant since we first moved to that town. In recent months we've noticed a shift in the food at Six Happiness. It used to be decent quality food for good prices. Now it is bland food for the same prices. Ever since the adjoining sushi restaurant was closed by the same owners the food is just not the same. We'll be looking for good, tasty Chinese food elsewhere. read more
