I've got to say that the owner of this restaurant and the staff there are the most nicest down-to-earth refreshing kind of people that I've had the pleasure to meet the staff were so professional and so nice and always came to make sure I had everything that I needed the food is amazing the lobster melts in your mouth it's not overcooked it doesn't smell like fish and it's a good size lobster the shrimp is very crunchy very good doesn't taste fishy the mashed potatoes are really good the sour cream and the chives are very fresh the salad bar is very fresh and they're very accommodating to you to help you out with whatever you need and the prices are pretty reasonable I really like coming to this sizzler this is the only place that I will come to to eat lobster from now on my experience with these restaurant is amazing. This is about week overdue.... This is by far the worst Sizzlers on the planet! The Ventura and Camarillo Locations went out years ago and somehow I would give them higher stars today then this trash hole! With over 2 hours until close this place hardly puts any food on the bar and has the nerve to charge $15 as an add on to your entree or $22 when you just get it alone... what a joke that is because there was no food on the bar and it was comical how they trickled out anything. We asked when we sat down if they would be adding more food and we were assured they were working on it. After 3 more time of asking and about 45 minutes they added 8 chicken wings to the bar for about 35-40 people in the dining area waiting. No joke, in the time we were there, they added clam chowder and some ranch, and I am pretty sure that was it, in the hour we wasted in this spot. The staff was too busy watching the yankees and Baltimore game they forgot they were at work. if there was a manager, they were probably sitting in the parking lot, reflecting on where their life went so wrong, to work for such a dumpy place! Because of Kayla, we decided to stay, unfortunately there's lack of communication between management to the register to the servers we ordered two orders of rib, chicken. they weren't able to complete because apparently they ran out of ribs... My problem is that this all could have been taken care if Management would have intervene sooner, I ordered about 6:39 and didn't get served until 7:15 because we're going back-and-forth as to me paying extra for the plate that they replaced for the ribs. We already were on our way out because of that, and somehow we were told that it was fine so again lack of communication between staff.... Came here with my husband after visiting the Van Nuys location and signing up to their rewards which gives you a free entree. We signed up with the closer location to us which just happens to be this one. We went in and it wasn't too crowded. There was you young lady in the front and I presented the coupon to her and she verified It and I told her to add a salad bar and drink. I'm not sure how she rang it up but I guess she gave me the salad bar for free as well. She called over another older lady supposedly named "Lulu" to ask her if she had done it right. Lulu took a defensive tone immediately as if I was personally taking money off of her pay and quickly said they couldn't take the coupon because it had to be printed. The coupon itself says in small print that I could be presented in either phone, tablet, or printed. I said that to her and she stated it was a franchise and her boss needs it printed. I offered to email it to her and she claimed she didn't have an email. At this point I'm irritated but I thought it wasn't a big deal; I'm a type one diabetic and need to eat on schedule or I start to get low blood sugar, so I was just waiting for her to finish her bs so I could other and get my food. I Informed her that my husband also had the same coupon. She stated she had to call her boss and I told her that was no issue, I asked for his info and she said she's the manager and she was telling me it is what it is. There was no policy posted that said coupons just be printed AND they weren't asking for vaccination proof. The fact that that employee cared more about enforcing rules for a coupon more than state mandates is insane. I will be reporting them to the health department for failure to comply. Not only that, they are letting patrons come in without a mask. Prior to the argument, LULU told the girl in the front that there was a patron let in without a mask and "no one" knew who had missed that. Brought my family here because I love sizzler and many of them are closing so was excited to see this one. After paying at the counter I went to sit and it was very very hot inside and almost immediately started sweating. All of the servers were sweating and red like they were gonna pass out from heat stroke. I went to serve myself food at the salad bar and there was signs all over it repeatedly saying "due to government hand outs no one wants to work so we are short staffed." And now the sweaty hot staff made perfect sense to me. First of all, sizzler just filed for bankruptcy claiming the government has not stepped in to help them enough. Please see article below Second of all, as someone who was laid off during covid and struggled to survive for the few months I had to go on "government hand outs" i barely made enough on those benefits to survive in Los Angeles with the cost of living so ended up ubering instead which I guarantee you pays more than sizzler does. I was one of the lucky ones and was back to work in a couple months. I wanted to walk right out of there but it's not the staffs fault. The lack of air conditioner, the heat stroke staff, and the fact that they're out of stock on half of the fountain drinks, and broken ice cream machine, leads me to the conclusion that whoever manages or owns this place is greedy and doesn't deserve anything including "government handouts". This location used to be a Carrows and now its a Sizzler. Same concept as before. Know real changes in their operation. So if your familiar with their concept,than I'm not going to bore you with the operation details. This is a franchize location,with I believe that Sizzler has 1 corporate location in the city of Van Nuys. This location made some changes in their Salad bar set up for the better, not as much product on the line,so it keeps the food for the most part stored at the right temperature. Large variety of different choices of your liking when it comes to salad's, also 4 different choices of Soups. Not sure why they don't try to become a full service type dining Restaurant. Back in the 80's and 90.s their where plenty of locations and now just a few. This location is new, so for the most part it's clean and well maintained. Self-Serve beverage bar and Salad bar along with a ice cream machine. The employees who expedite the food out were very attentive and helpful during my last visit, just wish they would change their operation to a full service concept and provide a better Quality of product along with the service to detail. This place is probably my favorite sizzler resto in the valley. Place is very clean, very nice and friendly staff. Me and my family is a loyal customer here. We always come here for the steak and lobster and salad bar. Never had a problem with this place before. This is our go to sizzler resto until today. Just had a lunch here with my wife and son and it didn't turn out good because of a not so nice and inconsiderate manager Francisco. I placed our order. Because my wife wasn't that hungry and not a big eater, she is sharing a meal with me. So I ordered steak and lobster which we are sharing, and tri tip for my son. We also had the calamari and shrimp to share. I always wanted their salad bar so I added 1 salad bar to one of our meal. So adding a salad bar to a meal is only $8.99 and a salad bar on its own is $15.99. When I paid for our meal, i've noticed that the manager charged me $15.99 for the salad bar. I questioned it and we had an arguement. I told him a salad bar with a meal is $8.99, why did you charge me $15.99. His explanation was, only 2 meals and a sharable were ordered and there were 3 of us and there maybe a chance that we are going to share the salad bar. I said my wife and my son are not going to eat in your salad bar, it's all me and just me. And then keep on insisting the steak and lobster is my wife's and i'll just eat in the salad bar. I said steak and lobster is mine and i'm adding a salad bar to it. My wife is not that hungry so she is sharing that main dish with me. Why does it matter who gets what meal, I always share a meal with my family. Your menu says $8.99 salad bar for every main dish!!! Finally he refunded me but then at the same time threatened me that if he sees that I am sharing the salad with my family, he'll charge me full!!! I said charge me the full amount then. I don't know if it's because of the area we were in, or because it's been so long, but the Sizzler has really upped its game! It's still cool when you walk in and you get to order right there at the register! Love that! The Salad Bar! Worst salad bar I have experienced from a Sizzler. Specifically the hot items. Appeared that the establishment was cutting back on the these items or just letting them sit and dry out. The Mac and cheese appeared to be dry and crusty, the spaghetti look like dry top ramen without water, the chicken wing taste like it was a day old wing, the potato wedges were dry and hard like cardboard. OMG don't come here for the salad bar. I have to admit though, the service was impeccable Maria was the cashier, waitress and tended the salad bar. She was on top of asking if we needed anything excellent. To the Manager/owner if you want to thrive in this restaurant, you need to think of a better strategy to save money, because your current salad bar needs a lot of work. Nostalgia (and a closed on Mondays Los Toros restaurant down the street), brought us to this Sizzler. Oh, how I wish Los Toros had been open! Our feet, sticking to the floors, should have been enough to make us head to the exit doors, but we had already paid, so we stayed. We had to wait while a table was cleaned in order to sit down. Food was mediocre, at best, and several food containers were either empty, or had crusty remnants at the bottom. We didn't go back, so don't know if they were replenished later. I noticed the ice cream machine was putting out over soft/dripping ice cream. When we ordered/paid for our food, the person at the register told us we could add the tip at that time. I declined, and said we would leave cash with the server. As it turned out, I'm glad we didn't. He came once to bring one entree, and steak sauce... that's it! Our dirty dishes sat in front of us throughout our meal! I generally leave 20-25% tip, but NO attention was given to our party of three. A trip to the restroom fared no better. Hadn't been for a while and decided to go with the family. Had a reward for a free burger. When we went to order I showed my reward email on my phone. The manger refused to accept it saying it has to be printed. I pointed out that the fine print states it can be shown on a mobile device but she refused. After a long day of work and school me and the family being tired and didnt want to cook, ventured out to get some din din. We have been to this location before and had a really nice experience. This time was also no exception, we got there and it was busy but not too busy, which was great. I ordered the steak and fried shrimp, and the wifey got the salmon. The salad bar was half empty, the salsas/peppers in the taco section were empty the entire time and the beef was REALLY disgusting. Barely edible. The soft serve ice cream machine was also broken. I used to go to Sizzler's in Hollywood 2 times a month in the mid-80's with my parents and brothers. We didn't have a lot of money so going to Sizzler's was a big deal for us. The food was OK but it was more of being with my family part that made Sizzler's so good. Their cheesy bread was and is always my favorite and their AYCE salad bar is decent. So recently my family (my husband and kids) went to this Sizzler's and I think that we might make this a tradition to come here once a quarter since we live pretty far from it. I purposely came by for lunch after learning that the salad bar has reopened. I was first disappointed to learn that the Steak and Lobster was not available today because they had no lobster. Then came the Salad Bar. To my dismay, the Chicken Wings were not part of the salad bar now, only sold separately. That's been one of my favorites. My other favorite was having tacos, but there was no taco meat available, just a larger pan of beans. Even the ice cream machine/bar was not available either. It's a hot summer day and no ice cream for dessert and it didn't help that the air conditioning was not cooling the place either.
