What I will say is compared to Pepper Lunch, I do think that Sizzling Lunch's flavors are more bold and are bit more salty. Their main dish people usually get is the Garlic Beef which is a staple to get for some yummy meaty lunch. I will say the Garlic is STRONG, so if you're not a big fan of garlic I would not recommend. I think pricing wise for $14 it's understandable for the meal. It does fill you up completely, and personally I get super full after eating here. In fact, I usually only eat half and then save half for dinner because I think portion wise it's pretty big. Besides the Garlic Beef, my usual is actually the pork which is sooooo good. I don't know if the sizzling plate was way too hot or what but the rice was over cook on it so it became very hard and it even hurt my teeth. Sizzling Lunch just opened near my house not too long ago! Based on pics, it looks really similar to Pepper Lunch, so we decided to give it a try to compare which ones better. ;) Same style of food - your food arrives on a sizzling hot plate and you gotta mix your sauces and cook the meat before it simmers down. There's lots of similar options as Pepper Lunch, I decided to go with the Curry Udon Noodles with Beef. The nice thing about this place is that the restaurant space feels a lot more spacious, so there's more ventilation inside (so you smell less like BBQ!) and I haven't had to wait so far. Anyways, my order came with udon noodles, curry powder, garlic butter, and lots of beef! It tastes so much better when you mix in the garlic soy sauce with it, but be careful - it could get salty! When you mix everything all together, the udon is super buttery and rich. I notice that you don't really get too much corn, but I'm okay with that since I feel like the rest of the portion is still pretty large. Everything else is really delicious too. Shredded beef and egg with rice and garlic gave it a strong garlic flavored taste throughout. Nothing over powering. So I added S&P to taste and I tried their 3 different sauces at the table. 1st scoop Garlic shoyu was semi sweet with a garlic kick 6.5/10 2nd scoop was Teriyaki sauce which was sweet but not over powering. I liked it. 3rd scoop was spicy miso and that was my favorite. Miso flavor wasn't over powering. The total ended up being $40 with tip for two people. The beef was served in a decent portion, looking at other reviews it seems like there was 6 oz of protein. I decided to order the curry beef with rice and added an egg. The food took a loooong time to come out, like a good 25 minutes. It's a pretty basic concept of raw meat, an egg, some rice, fried garlic, cheese, and curry powder on a super hot, sizzling cast iron plate. I thought my dish was going to be like a Japanese curry with actual sauce, but it's just powder which was a little disappointing. You then mix it all up and add garlic shoyu or teriyaki sauce to your liking since there's really no seasoning on anything otherwise. I hardly tasted any curry after the first bite. Overall it was alright. I would give the food itself a 3.5. At $14 it's not exactly the cheapest for what it really is, but the portion is pretty large and I was stuffed afterwards. The core offering includes meat-based entrees with your choice of rice/noodles and a few vegetables (e.g. corn and peas) on a hot stone plate - see my photo for the garlic beef pepper rice with a free egg add-on (via Yelp! check in). If you're not familiar with this food concept, it can seem a little odd getting a plate full of raw meat. The stone plat is hot enough to cook the thinly sliced meat, assuming you follow the directions on the wall behind the cashier once you receive your food. Don't be like me and pour the sauces in too early; your meat still needs the heat to cook through and the sauces will lower the temperature substantially. Drizzled it with the very garlicky garlic shoyu to taste and then waited until my beef was cooked enough for me, then I dug in. Very satisfying. If you want extra butter, they do charge you a very, very, small fee of 50 cents for it, so keep that in mind. ;) Service was good, but it is a very casual spot, so don't expect the same kind of service you'd get at more upscale place. I came here on Labor Day and I never have had a problem with this location with service or food, but beware of some employees!! I ordered off of Grub hub yesterday and came after I got the notification that the order was ready. I go to the female employee by the register for my order, and she goes to the back, tells me the order is going to be 7 more minutes. I come back after 7 minutes and there is a young male employee who proceeds check again, and tells me that the order is going to be a couple more minutes, and to just wait. So I wait for 10 MORE MINUTES, and I go to the same male employee and he tells me he will check, but I see him just go through the kitchen curtain, stand there and DO NOTHING, and then come back and tell me that it will be a couple more minutes. I wait 10 more minutes, and at this point I am furious and I go up to the register where a different female employee now shows up (there was barely any staff at the register). She proceeds to check and then tell me the order never came through. The male employee deliberately lied to me about checking my order and had me sitting in the restaurant for an order that was never being made. They told me they got confused where I ordered, but they initially only asked for my name and not where I ordered. Management, do a better job at hiring better staff. I never had a problem with this location and have ordered off of Grubhub multiple times with no problem, but the employees here are questionable, and it seems like they can't do their job. I come here all the time. I like the food here. But today I am so disappointed. I placed an order 45 minutes before I get there. When I got there I asked about my order. The guy at the front desk said 5 more minutes. And I checked after 5 minutes the server said 5 minutes. .. I was tempted to ask for my refund. Long story short. It took them over an hour to get my kimchi beef and beef udon. I don't think it was worth the wait. read more

Came here for the experience! We got the garlic pork belly sub udon noodles and the curry katsu chicken. I would recommend not making subs if you are unfamiliar! I ordered extra garlic butter and definitely made it too rich. The food was good, you order on a tablet and the food comes out immediately. We had little interaction with the staff, but service was okay. The restaurant is very good for conversation. Music was lower, which was nice! read more

Great service, good food. I have gone there two times in one week (introducing the place to two different parties). It was my third time overall I do recommend the beef curry udon or the chicken curry udon. The curry katsu was good but I prefer the udon. Keep up the good customer service! If you can't finish, ask for a box to take home the leftovers. I needed to do that for the last two times! read more
