ok, so i love skips. i love their pizza. great balance of dough, sauce, crust, toppings. but i gotta say, based on my visit here, i prefer the concord location. so everything with the pizza was fine. my lady and i ordered a 1/2 bacon, 1/2 pepperoni pizza and it was delicious as only skips could do. the problem however, came with the service. we came here on a saturday around lunch time and it was surprisingly empty. that's not their fault. what is their fault is when we have to wait for 10 minutes for ranch (we like to dip our pizza in ranch) before i had to go up to the guy making the pizzas to get some for us because our server was nowhere to be found. we literally were waiting to take our first bites for 10 minutes because our server just forgot? or was busy with the 1-2 other tables there at that time. i mean, that's unacceptable. we also had to wait 10-15 more minutes to have our server bring our check. if the place was packed, i would totally understand. but there was literally NO ONE there. no excuse! maybe they have better service when they're busy. i don't know. i probably won't come here again. i'll stick with the concord or clayton locations. read more

So I've had pizza from here before and It's ok not the best just OK. So my co worker and I decided we just wanted to have salads today. So we ordered it to go (DoorDash). We both got the individual chicken Caesar salads. Well to our surprise when we got it. We were charged $10 each for a side salad? Like it's not even a full salad for an individual to fill up on! And it's not even that great. It literally taste like a Caesar salad you get from the grocery store out of the pre made bags! The chicken on it was the only thing to save this salad. But most definitely not enough to charge $10 for a side salad. This has to be one of the smallest individual salads I've seen. So beware when ordering their takeout salads. read more

We ordered 1/2 bacon tomato and they forgot fresh tomato so I used my own. We don't live in Antioch anymore and we came from Pittsburg to get it as we wanted something other dominoes, papa Murphys or RTP. Preggo pizza was delicious. I'm currently 40wks and 5 days (overdue). Hoping the pizza works its magic. I'll update in a day or two. Other than that the pizza was amazing, lots of flavors, great crust and we also shared the skip dip with fresh warm bread. Yum yum!!! Fun little environment with a tiny play area for the kiddies. Service was very good everyone was very welcoming and the staff all seemed to work very well with each other. Again just hoping the "Preggo pizza" works its magic. read more

Although I have tried several of the flavors here at Skipolini's, including the famed labor inducing Prego Pizza, my new found favorite is simple: Cheese Pizza. It's probably the flavor you buy for your kids. And this place is great for kids, it has a mini kiddie area in the back. The restaurant is regularly filled with birthday parties and youth sports awards nights. On a weekday basis they have slice specials, although only for a few hours (some days I wish those hours were longer, as I work around the corner). The sawdust on the floor is a bit annoying, and I'm not sure many people know why it's there, I don't. But it's a pizza place not a 5 star Michelin rated restaurant, so kick back enjoy- have a beer, watch a game, chat with your buds and relax. Or if it annoys you that much- order to go, or better yet- have it delivered if you are local. I would recommend the Prego for those of you who are pregnant. Based on reviews from here, as well as personal stories of friends- it works! at least for some people. Why not it's worth the try. It has 13 different toppings including extra onions,extra garlic, fresh vegetables and six types of meat. So guys you might want to try it yourself, it's a bit of the kitchen sink and goes perfect with those game days. read more

IT WORKED! I was 38 weeks, 5 days and felt like the baby still didn't drop.. I ordered the small Prego Pizza to-go on Monday and ate half of it for dinner. Drove out to try the prego pizza because a good friend told me it's known to trigger labor. Upon walking in, place is huge and seemed very new. We asked for a table inside but there was a huge outdoor patio in the back of the restaurant. Hostess sat us right next to where they were making the pizzas which is awesome. After we placed our order, food came out relatively quickly. We started with the Italian chopped salad which was more chicken than actual salad. The chunks of blue cheese were quite sad and not very blue cheesy at all. Probably could have left them out all together and still tasted the same. We had to get the prego pizza because I'm at the end of my pregnancy and just want the baby to come out. Pizza came out and looked pretty good--loaded with toppings and fresh out of the oven. Unfortunately, there was little to no sauce and very little cheese on the pizza. They used good ingredients but everything was just okay. To me, a killer sauce is crucial to a good pizza and there was very little to be found. Pizza crust was cooked through and crispy but nothing special. Sausage just tasted like ground meat with no seasonings or kick. Even the pepperoni was tiny with no flavor. Everything tasted flat. For the price, I expected better. Service could have been more attentive. I think they were maybe a little short staffed the day we went because our server was mostly focused on tables outside and really didn't check up on us much. I ended up asking the hostess for a lot of things because she was the one who brought us our food and I actually saw her walking around. There were tons of families and this seems like a very kid friendly place but for the price and taste of the food, I personally wouldn't come back. My sis-in-law was 8 days overdue with her third child, and had just come from a disappointing appointment at WC Kaiser where her doc told her she is only 1cm dilated. They then told her if she doesn't give birth soon (to the over 8lb baby inside of her) that they will be forced to induce labor. Tired, miserable and hungry, her and my brother headed to Skipolini's and figured what the hell... it's worth a shot. And pizza sounds delicious right now anyway. Make note that the pizza was consumed at around 6pm on Thursday evening. Now I'm not one to necessarily believe in folklore, or old wives tales, if you will. So imagine my surprise when at 5am Friday morning I get a call letting me know that she is in full labor and will be giving birth soon! O..Ma....God.....I have wanted to try this place out for years and Well, today I was given that opportunity, only to find out there was nothen I was missen. We had a selection of pizzas at our office today from Skips, and boy was I disappointed: ( There was a selection of Cheese, Pepperoni some sort of veggie pizza along with some sort of sausage/ veggie specialty. I could not make up my mind which to try, so I took one slice of the pepp and one of the cheese. I took one bite of the cheese only to have my taste buds overwhelmed with an over abundant amount of tomato sauce as well as grease....where the heak was the cheese?? So I took a bite of the pepp only to once again have my taste buds killed by the overly greasy tomato monster...ugh...no way was I letting one ounce of these suckers enter into my body and latch on to my hips only to be reminded of a disappointment. Maybe I had high expectations, maybe it was just an off day for the joint or maybe it's the location. Prego Pizza Worked! Sunday night I came in with my mom, 38 weeks pregnant with irregular non painful Braxton hicks contractions..jokingly told the person who sat us "I heard you can help me!" I ordered a small Prego Pizza..my service was amazing by the way (server was a very young, thin man)...I didn't expect the pizza to really work. I only came just to take a few pictures with my pizza for old wives tales sake (and to put in baby's photo book)..That night my contractions became regular-and a little stronger..I went to get a massage the next day-Monday night (heck I was in pain and not due for two weeks) and boom! i had the prego pizza and i felt like i had to give birth to twins! oh my this thing is a gut bomb! salami, peperoni, ham, mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, extra onions, sausage, ground beef, linguisa, extra garlic, parmesan and oregano. well this pizza has been known to induce labor and all i know is i wanted it out of me after i ate it. i'm a pizza lover and skipolini's is one of the better pizza's in walnut creek but it's still just an average place for pizza. it's pretty darn overrated and too pricey for me. if i had to get pizza it's all about gay nineties pizza in pleasanton or chicago's pizza . read more

Been here quite a few of times, but this time they get a 'review.' When you walk in you think this looks like a nice pizza parlor. Then you look down and think to yourself, 'What's with all the sawdust on the floor?' It was like the floor of a petting zoo. (Was it straw or sawdust that was used to soak up blood and diseases during the plagues?) I think it was straw. Either way, the floor looks like you're walking through a barn. Public Service Message for girls: Don't wear flip flops here. We were taken toward the back and seated close to their storage room. They kept that large metal door next to us open the entire time. It got really annoying seeing the employees running in and out of there constantly. There was more traffic going in and out that door than there is on 680. Not to mention the brightness of that room blinding you from what was in contrast an otherwise darkened dining room atmosphere. It's like sitting in the dark with someone shining a flashlight to the side of your head. We sat there for 30 minutes after being seated and no one came by. We didn't even have napkins, utensils or water. Our unusually small waitress with the long black hair was nice but was better at disappearing than Houdini. If you get your drinks, don't expect a refill. She's no where to be found. When you get your appetizer, she vanished in a cloud of sawdust. When you get your pizza, she's a phantom. So when you get served something.. you get what you get.. and don't expect ever getting checked on or a follow up. We were just four respectful quiet guys sitting toward the back. We ordered the Skip's Dip for an appetizer. Warm bread with olive oil to balsamic vinegar for dipping, but their ratio is all wrong. Less oil next time Exxon Valdez! It was like a gallon of olive oil to a drop of balsamic. Have them send it back and do it right if they try to pull that shit on you. Never see employees smile when I'm there. Not once. Everyone always looks unhappy. Hey Skipolini Staff, here's a little tip for you: That shit is picked up by your customers and makes us feel uneasy. There is one skinny blond high school princess working there that is the grumpiest little bastard you've ever seen. Every time we are there and without fail, her face is all pruned up and she looks like she either has to take shit or working there is totally beneath her. Eveyone I know feels the same way about her. She just looks like a bitch. Maybe it's just me sweetheart, but if your customers can tell that you don't like them, it could affect your tips. So, if she hasn't quit by now, this high maintenance prima donna needs to go work at Nordstom where she can spray people with perfume as they walk by. Skipolini's has good appetizers, good drinks and most importantly, good food. You will most-likely enjoy anything you order; the pizza on average is pretty good. Once in a while the dough is undercooked and raw under the toppings, but overall it's ok. You need to take out a small loan from the bank to eat there -and you shouldn't have to because It's just pizza. It's overpriced for no apparent reason. They're a little too big for their britches. I took a poll and litterally everyone I talked to said the same thing; they just need to get rid of the sawdust, the staff, lower their prices and (as for the Walnut Creek location) close the door to the freak'n storage room when people are eating. read more

Have been coming to Skipolini's for many years . . . mostly to the Walnut Creek location, but also to their Clayton restaurant in the past as well. After many visits over many years, the place just never changes . . . they just keep on doing a great job with their pizzas!! They've got a winning formula, and never seem to stray from what works. They get that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"!! Pizzas are made with very good quality ingredients. They're one of the few local pizza places that does a really nice job with the crust . . . not too chewy and not too crispy, but just right. Also, their pizzas are not too salty . . . which is not something I can say about many of their competitors that pump out massive quantities of salt. Love Skipolini's pizza sauce as well . . . tasty and of good quality. Great with a Blue Moon or other specialty beer !!! Perhaps one of the things I really appreciate about Skipolini's is their local family-owned environment . . . Just like us Yelper's like it. In fact, Skipolini's does a great job hosting local Sports Teams, etc., for season-end awards parties . . . which I've come to Skipolini's for a few times as well. At their Walnut Creek restaurant, which is quite spacious for a pizza place, they've got a very large courtyard area that's great for hosting large parties. One downside is that only street parking or pay garage is available in this area of WC, which can be a pain. I'm going with 4 Stars . . . but leaning towards 4 1/2 !! read more

Boo Skipolini's! We called at noon on Friday seeing if we could reserve the outside place for a party of 20 that evening. We were told that they don't take reservations of any kind and it's first come first serve when you get there but it shouldn't be an issue at 5:30 pm. Well we got there at 5:15pm and guess what, they said they couldn't accommodate our party because they were setting up the outside room for a large party who had called in an hour before to reserve the space. Not one person from that group was present.... So why were we told they couldn't reserve the space when we called at noon but someone else called at 4pm and was able to? Not cool. read more

Came here when my wife was pregnant and we heard the reviews of the Preggo pizza inducing labor, and figured that we would give it a shot. I'd have to say without the labor inducing part the pizza was quite flavorful, and i'd probably order it again without the wife being pregnant. Secondly, if it was coincidence or not, but my wife did go into labor after eating this pizza. After eating here we were stuffed so we went mall walking and low and behold her water breaks and later that night we were being admitted to the hospital. We were on the hunt for some new pizza with a high yelp* rating, and came across this joint. Upon entering and being led to our table, the atmosphere is pretty cool, and we go allll the way to the back and outside. To the party of screaming kids. Not just screaming at the top of their lungs, but screaming at the top of their lungs in jungle gym tube slides which face the dining area like a megaphone. I don't know how many pounds of sugar the party of parents fed their kids before entering this place but beware Saturday nights. We ordered a large Preggo pizza. Delicious except for the shrill in our ears. I think the parents were too drunk to even notice since they were equally as loud. For years I have talked to people in the Pleasant Hill, Martinez, WC area about pizza. When I share my impressions they tell me that I need to eat at Skipolini's. Somehow I will find a similar nirvana that I experience at Tony's. I had not made the effort until our sports team had an end of the season gathering here. I could tell that they were making an effort to serve us properly, however they were understaffed on the floor for the number of people we brought. (Yes, we called ahead to warn them). Beverage service was slow. I can deal with the points I just mentioned. However the pizza I cannot overlook. We ordered a mushroom, bell pepper, and sausage pizza as well as the gluten free specialty. When we got the pizza the bottom was cooked, however the top was watery and cold. I think that they were just trying to crank out the pizzas so fast that they did not consider how the top was cooked. The crust looked done, so send it. Honestly it reminded me of being at a Pieology. Just a lack of care for the product. The gluten free was inedible. I am not sure the last time I returned food, but it is not something that I do. I did need to return this pizza and without much conversation it was taken off the bill. I am not sure what experiences others have had that made Skipolini's pizza so great. I just know that I would never serve the product that I received that night. What did I learn today? In doing my family history, I have found family in Naples going back as many as 350 years. I'm actually due any day now and thought that it would be cool to have baby make it's appearance on 08/08/08 with the help of Skipolini's... The Prego Pizza was pretty good. Came here to try the preggo pizza. I was about 39 weeks and wanted the baby out due to being uncomfortable and excited to see my little one. Sad to say it didn't work BUT boy was it YUMMY!! Pretty funny to see so many pregnant women in one restaurant. The service was great and staff was very friendly. I like how they checked up on us very often and making sure everything tasted good. The food came out fast and driks were always refilled. Will be coming back to try the other pizzas on the menu. read more

The prego pizza really works! I had two slices at 9pm and I started having contractions at 10:30pm. I finally went to the hospital at 12:45am already dilated 9cm! I had a natural birth and my son was born at 1:22am.. I was 38 weeks pregnant and had the baby on my hubby's bday as we wanted. It was an intense experience. I came here for the labor pizza. It was the best pizza I've had in a long time. I ate 3 amazing slices! So tasty and worth the drive. The service was amazing I forgot the guys name but he was great and omg the pizza was so good. I am still pregnant, not complaining ^^* it just didn't work for me bc baby is probably waiting for the full moon. However, pregnant or not - go here! Outside of Cheeseboard and Lanesplitter, this is one of my favorite pizzas in the East Bay. I went to Skipolinis to order the "Prego" pizza when my wife was nine months pregnant and a few days overdue. I also ordered the bbq chicken pizza. First, I may be one of a few that actually think that the Prego is more of a myth than reality. Some of my friends are deadset convinced that the Prego actually induces labor. Still, it's fun to get caught up with the story. The pizza itself is excellent, with fresh ingredients on an awesome dough. She had so much of it that it induced heartburn instead of labor (so I guess a different type of labor). The barbecue pizza is also very good. They serve heaping portions and they are quite generous with their cheese and toppings. I haven't had the chance to dine in. When I picked up my pizza, I was impressed by their space and saw servers walking around talking to customers. The noise level is fine and people generally look like they were having fun. I'm under the impression that this is a good place to bring a large group for dining in. read more

Ordered a pizza for delivery.. An hour later, I called and found out they put it in for pick up. Pizza came 45 mins after that... Why 5 stars??? Because the manager personally delivered the pizza, apologized profusely and explained the error. Customer service happens when there's a mistake and how the business handles the situation. Yelp reminded me I needed to write a review on Skippolini's. Honestly, I am shocked that I haven't wrote a review yet. I've been coming here for a couple years. It is also a place we often take out of town visitors, especially if they have kids. I enjoy the sawdust on the floor, the darker lighting, the casual atmosphere. Now to the important aspects, the menu and the food. Large menu covering everything from salads to sandwiches and of course pizza... beer and wine! I am fan of the white sauce pizzas.
