Okay, we tried the infamous preggo pizza on my due date in attempt to get our third baby to make some moves and while it didn't work immediately, the pizza here was pretty dang good and worth making the trip out for! We were seated quickly and taken care of by Hannah, who made sure we had everything we needed and got our food out quickly to us. We also enjoyed a fresh spinach salad and our custom favorite pizza of pineapple, ham and jalapeño. Both that and the preggo pie were delicious and worth every carb! The kids liked watching the pizza pros toss the dough; they seem to have pizza-making down. We appreciated the manager on duty rounding to check in with us also. We had their preggo pizza while waiting for labor when we were past 40 weeks. The only way I can see it working is by inducing indigestion/diarrhea followed by labor. A couple weeks ago, I had 30 hungry people to feed so I decided to get pizzas from Skipolini's. I ordered the following a day before: - 2 Prego pizzas (their specialty all-meat pizza); - 2 Combo pizzas (salami/pepperoni/mushroom/olives/bell peppers/onions/sausage/ground beef); - 2 Creamy Pesto pizzas (pesto sauce/mushroom/onion/zucchini/artichoke hearts/bacon); - 2 Chicken Pepperonado pizzas (pesto sauce/artichoke hearts/chicken/red and yellow bell peppers); - 1 Greek pizza (pesto/olives/red onions/mushrooms/red and yellow bell peppers/chicken/Feta cheese). I tried them all and they were all pretty good (I was one of the 30 hungry people!). The pizza crust was slight thick in my opinion, but I am sure someone likes that. I highly recommend the Chicken Pepperonado. In my opinion, it's probably the best out of the group. The crew there was very helpful. I got my pizzas on time. There's a pickup spot right outside the restaurant which made picking my order very easy. If you want to dine in, I'd suggest you park at the public garage a block away on Locust Street. We came here for a birthday party with about 6 kids and 13 adults. They sat us outside, in the rain but under a tent, but it had heater lamps which was awesome. Inside the restaurant had the ambiance like a pizza parlor; it was dark, spacious, and you can see them making some of your pizzas. The outside is where they put the large parties, and it is very kid friendly as it had some arcades and a small playground. Pizza = meh. It was doughy, and the toppings was nothing spectacular. We ordered cheese only, pepperoni, Pesto, and the prego. Probably the best tasting was the cheese because it was just so simple; the pepperoni had sparse pepperoni; the pesto wasn't too flavorful, and the ingredients was also sparse; and the preggo was like meh, nothing special. We also had a Caesar salad prior to our pizzas arriving, and it was really nothing to make a note of. I will say the bathroom is kept clean, and our waitress was nice. Was In mood for some pizza tonight and had been to the concord skipolini's so decided to try out the walnut creek skipolini's for the 1st time . Made the order for pick up so didn't eat it there but when I came to pick it up this location looked very different than there other location .. This location didn't have any out side seating and the inside looked more fancy for a pizza spot. Had a nice beer selection on tap . I came near closing time to pick up and waited a long time until someone came up to help me . Not sure where the employees were, there were only 3 tables filled while I was there so not sure why it took so long for someone to come greet and help me .. Sunday 6/24 decided to give the prego pizza a try for lunch and ate the left overs for dinner! 6/25 evening and no baby! but we do it for shxts and giggles! We'll try anything to "induce". But it was an empty Sunday afternoon at Skipolini's we were seated quickly and served in a timely manner! We got the meatball sandwich with a salad and a small prego pizza. I never NEVER give 5 star reviews but I have to for Skipolinis Pizza! It's that good! The food (pizza & salad) is great, the people who work here are friendly and helpful, it's all very reasonably priced. They do overload the toppings as some of the other reviews have mentioned, but in my opinion that's a good thing! It's a perfect place for groups, dates, really any occasion. The last time I came here someone was even having a wedding rehearsal dinner here lol. And of course the legend behind the Prego Pizza is pretty cool! Brought in a bottle of wine to go with our pizza and we were not charged a corkage fee :) Street parking is hard to find but there is a garage that's close. In case you're wondering about sizing a Large pizza has 4 medium/large slices. If you're undecided about what size to order go with the BIGGER size pie! They have cute lights in jars on the little wall bordering the indoor seating. They have outdoor seating as well including a water fountain but we liked the bricks and dim lighting indoors better. Parking is along the street so do you have to pay for that downtown Walnut Creek life in the meters. We found one close enough on the other side of the restaurant, to stroll our baby couple feet over and so did our friend. However, this WAS a Morning time, around 11 or 11:30. Legend has it that the Prego pizza was responsible for inducing labor for several pregnant diners. As for me, I just looked pregnant after eating it for two days straight. Saturday: Met up with a friend and his 5 year old son downtown after taking pictures of the Walnut Festival Parade. We were going to walk to Pinky's, but with it being a mile and a half away, it would have been a healthy walking. The objective was to clog our heart, not exercise it. With no debate, we took a detour to Skipolini's. With everybody watching the parade, there was no wait for a table. We plopped ourselves down near the kitchen so that the pizzas didn't need to travel far to our mouths. Ordering the Prego was a foregone conclusion, so we decided on a medium (around $28, it has Salami, Pepperoni, Ham, Mushrooms, Olives, Bell Peppers, Extra Onions, Sausage, Ground Beef, Linguisa, Extra Garlic, Parmesan and Oregano). We also ordered a small pepperoni pizza for the kid. After the father and son duo ruined their appetites with 3 Italian sodas (with whipped cream) between the two of them, I ended up destroying most of the Prego solo. The pizza tasted great, and the crust was nice and thick (I swept up the meat debris from the tray and made mini sub sandwiches). Washed it all down with an iced tea. Slept like a baby that night. Day 2: Around 6pm at home, nobody knew what to do for dinner. I joked that we should get a Prego. Joke became a reality, but this time, I opted for the family size pie (about $34). I should start by saying, no persons in our group are pizza enthusiasts. My wife and I tend to prefer Italian/New York thin crust and are picky about our ingredients. My in-laws never eat pizza. The outside patio was full of children (presumably a rec. sports gathering), but the inside was more empty, likely because it was a weekday. Service started off slow, but significantly improved. As for the pizza, it surprised us! It was overall quite tasty! They do have trouble with the bottom being a little soggy, as mentioned in other reviews, but it was still better than i expected. My husband definitely loved the taste of the pizza itself and we will be back for more (even when I am not pregnant)! Great place where my 3 year old was able to create his own pizza. Being a New Yorker I'm pretty bias about CA Pizza. I have to say I was impressed with the pizza and the home made ranch dressing was amazing. Deff the best pizza I've had on the west coast. The most impressive thing was the service. I called in 2 pizzas as I was about to leave work when a client pulled in. I hate cold pizza but was willing to bite the bullet if worse came to worse. I called them to tell them I would be running an hour late, they didn't hesitate to offer me 2 fresh new pies even though my order had just came out. That's great service. The ambiance was great too. I love THIS Skipolini's. I've tried the Concord location and it's just not the same quality. One beautiful Sunday late morning my husband and I walked from our house in Pleasant Hill to downtown Walnut Creek. It's about a 4-mile walk so how did we reward ourselves?! Pizza!! Ha! We ordered the combination pizza and the family size traditional house salad with ranch. This is my favorite salad!! I literally grub on the salad with a side of pizza because it's perfect. We sat on the back patio. It was really nice with the patio heaters. There were two families there with their kids playing in the little kid's play area. I can see why this place is popular with families. Our pizza and salad definitely hit the spot. We have also visited twice for the prego pizza. A tradition with a few of our friends who welcomed their second a few months ago. The prego pizza is good but totally overwhelming on the toppings. That's the point with all of the onion and spice to get things going. Did it do the trick for my girlfriend? No. But for an excuse to eat pizza? Why not try it. I'm currently 5 months preg and plan on giving it a try if/when needed. The tradition must live on! The service has always been great at this location. Welcoming, friendly and fast! The preggo pizza worked for me! I sent my husband to Skipolini's for the prego pizza back in April when I was 40 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I had a slice for lunch which gave me some contractions then nothing. Had 2 slices for dinner (around 8pm) and I was having regular contractions by 10pm! I had my baby at 11pm the next evening. I was ready to go into labor and I definitely believe this pizza helped! The pizza is also delicious and my niece had her 3rd birthday party here a few weeks before my labor inducing adventure. It has a great atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff and great food. I will definitely be back next time I am passed my due date, or when we are hungry and in the area! hubby and i came here for a lunch event which took place on their semi-covered patio in the rear of the restaurant. i appreciated the partial covering and heat lamps considering the imminent threat of rain and cool conditions. it was a fairly large group, at least 60-70 attendees, so everyone was packed in fairly tightly, with several large rectangular tables pushed together...but it worked! a pizza and salad buffet was set up to the side, with fresh hot pizzas brought out every few minutes. we had a choice of the following: +plain cheese pizza +pepperoni pizza +veggie pizza (peppers, onions, olives, tomatoes, mushrooms) +combination pizza (veggie + pepperoni pizza plus sausage) +classic caesar salad +beet and chickpea salad coke and sprite were also served, and each guest was entitled to either a beer or glass of wine from the bar. while food was plentiful, i would have appreciated if the staff brought out more fresh plates since these seemed to run out quickly. some guests were so hungry that they started eating pizza off their napkins! also, the table that hubby and i sat down at didn't have any silverware (though most tables did have forks and knives)....good thing pizza is mainly a finger food, just grab and end and start noshing! the pizzas themselves were traditional crust pizza, neither ny-style thin crust, nor chicago-style deep dish, but something in between. while the toppings were generously tossed on each pie, the taste was pretty average, good pizza, but definitely not anything that blew my taste buds away. i didn't try the salads since i was full after three hearty slices of pizza (minus the crust since it was super thick), but i noticed that both platters of salad looked barely touched, so i'm guessing that everyone else at the party also chowed down on the pizza, like me. inside the restaurant, there are a couple of large screen tvs as well as a bar area, making this an ideal place to see a game or meet with your friends for a couple of drinks. there were also quite a few families lunching here, which means that this restaurant is suitable for all ages and multiple purposes. there's no dedicated parking for this restaurant since it's located in downtown walnut creek, so you're relegated to find street parking. fortunately, we found a spot just across the street from the restaurant, so it was a short walk. meters weren't too, too, pricey, $1/hour, more expensive than where i live, but definitely less than san francisco! read more

Their pizza is one of the best in the Bay Area, but they tend to overload on the toppings to the point where you have a pile left on the pan after all the slices are gone. Ok, that's not necessarily a bad thing, as gluttonous as it is. The WC location is a nice family place downtown, a break from the douche-bars and higher-end, non-kid friendly restaurants in the area. But really, I would've liked to seen Skipolini's leave a thing or two out of this one. The sawdust seems out of place here, where in the Clayton store it's perfect. The outdoor seating is nice, but the tent covering needs a good washing. The plastic chairs seem cheap and not very stable. It gets very loud out there too (not all due to the kids.) But the pizza, oh it's damn good. They nail the perfect crust. There will be former frat boys throwing back pitchers and being a bit boisterous. It's WC. read more
