This is my first time here. I am unfamiliar with the menu and just everything but I knew I wanted fish. I vaguely remember hearing about this spot so I figured I'd give it a try. Immediately I felt rushed even though I was the only customer waiting to place an order. The service was still pleasant but I don't really know if I got what I wanted. Haven't been waiting too long but still waiting on my food so gonna pause here and come back after tasting the food...not the worst but not the best. I had shrimp tacos and a catfish sandwich and even with the tartar sauce and hot sauce it was kind of bland. read more

My daughter loved the name of this place, so we came to check it out for dinner. LOVED IT. Reminds me of the kind of food we'd get at a fish camp back in NC. Crispy fish and "skrimp," decent mac n' cheese, smoky green beans, and hush puppies for dayssss. They also have fish tacos, which the guy next to us was photographing and eating. The food was pretty good! However, the establishment could work on customer service. The cashier had a poor attitude and was very unwelcoming. I felt very rushed to order and get out of her way. It was my first visit and I had questions; however, her attitude made me rather uneasy to ask them. She made it seem as if business annoyed her. I just ate the most amazing Catfish and Shrimp Po'Boy!! The shrimp were huge and the fish was crispy and golden. I chose the spicy sauce. It was good, but next time I'll ask for extra on the side. The fries were also tasty. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The service was great, and I didn't wait very long for my order. If you love seafood, you have to try The Skrimp Shack. Heard a lot of great things about this place so my sister and I decided to try it out. The place was really clean and the workers were very friendly! The food was phenomenal and the portions are huge. We were fairly lucky, because we got in before the lunch rush. However, you can call in your order to avoid a lot of waiting time. My girlfriend and I checked this place out about two weeks ago. We both had Po Boys. They were delicious. She had the shrimp and I had the shrimp with crab. I was slightly disappointed in the amount of crab but I understand crab is expensive. Next time I'll just get the shrimp and save a couple dollars. The sauce was excellent. read more

Very reasonable priced seafood place. I ordered the shrimp basket with fried okra. The shrimp are big and the fried okra is one of the best that I've had. They give you a lot of food! I ordered take out and my order was ready in no time. My only complaint is that I stopped in about 45 minutes before closing and several tables had not been cleared. Also there were napkins and paper scattered on the floor. I will visit again and hope things are kept a little bit cleaner. read more

Ordered Door Dash spending over $35 three times. I can't even get a double bag ...didn't ask for no extras I specifically just wanted my food secure, napkins and my drink bagged. I called and asked to make sure they secured my food and written on instructions thru door dash app and one of their employees just laughed it off. The manager Ann didn't really have that much of a concern. Once I spoke on my fried okra being frozen twice in the middle and I told her I didn't call to complain and because it's a fairly clean place and I'm pescatarian. Lack of professionalism and just taking people money!! Never again and I will never use Door dash either I learned my lesson read more

Was I'm town to meet family and had seen other reviews. When I say the skrimp P.O. boy was good...I mean "skrumptious". This is a great hidden gem. I ordered on line today for my family. I got the confirmation that our food would be ready to pick up @ 5:00 pm. Showed up at 5. They hadn't even printed my order yet. So printed my order at 5. 3 people came to the counter and placed orders after mine was given to the kitchen all three left before me. Asked what was going on and was told Grubhub order were pushing mine back. Staff became defensive when I told them they were servicing walking ahead of me. No one ever apologized for the delay no one offered anything just a lot of attitude since I was questioning why my order hadn't come out yet. They had to substitute flounder for the Mahi I ordered I was not offered any kind of refund since my order was placed on line was just told they can't issue refund for online orders. As far as the food goes my daughters chicken sandwich was burnt and she said it tasted bad. I ordered Cole slaw and got fries. Mac and cheese was watery. Shrimp and fish were blah. Not worth the money or the 45 minute wait. I do not recommend this place. Drive the extra and go to Surf Rider. Same prices more selection. And better service. read more

We ate at the Cedar Rd. location for a late lunch. The staff was extremely polite and accommodating! I ordered the skrimp basket with fries, which I found to be very enjoyable. My lady friends that accompanied me seemed to think $10-$16 for lunch was a bit pricey. I will return and recommend. read more

Went there for the first time last Friday for lunch as it is Lent. The place was full! Luckily, we were able to get seated. The portions were huge, fresh and delicious! If you're looking for fried shrimp or fish this is a must try! We decided to visit a few weeks ago due to yelp reviews; we were not disappointed. I was nervous that the place would smell/feel like fried food/grease but that was not the case. We ordered fried shrimp, fried catfish, hush puppies, fries, & a side of mac/cheese. When our food was delivered to the table we were amazed by the size of the portions. Everything was delicious and not greasy at all. The batter on the shrimp and fish had good flavor & did not overpower the flavor of the fish. The batter was not too thick or wet or falling off the fish. Customer service was great, I questioned the staff about my catfish because I am from the Midwest & used to catfish that has a hint of color due to the muddy river & Skrimp Shack catfish was pure white & the staff took time to look at my fish to ensure it was the catfish (it's an upcharge). All I knew was whatever fish I was served was delicious & now I know the difference between catfish from the river vs the bay!! read more

It's great that they bring your food to you when it's ready, however I would prefer to not have my food thrown at me from a clearly disgruntled employee. SO VERY DISAPPOITNING!!!!! ordered lunch to go..... fast service but goodness was I disappointed when I got my take out box to my desk at work. 1st the skrimp tacos weren't skrimp they were skimp!!!!! my co worker had the tacos...my heart hurt for her!!! I had the 12 count shrimp basket grilled with greens. Greens weren't bad however I wasn't like man these are some good greens. Now the shrimp....way way over cooked to where they were dry!!! not seasoned and bland. I felt so bad for my co workers skimp shrimp tacos I gave her some of my shrimp to put on her tacos. as for the butter.....goodness I asked for drawn butter he handed me 4 little butters you would find in a bread basket!!!!!! like how am I dipping my shrimp in this??? just so highly disappointed for the amount of money I spent!!! don't go in expecting anything but what you can roll up to Captin D's and get...actually I think captin D's is better !!!!! read more

They just opened on a Sat. 1st time coming in this location. My experience to a location going out of town my husband stopped at a skrimp shack going to DC. we loved the food. We were excited skrimp shack came to this area. However, this company must not have quality control standards set for their brand across all locations. There was a vast quality and aesthetic difference between the skrimp shack out of town to the one in Norfolk. How you just open on a Sat. and dont have coleslaw? Their other sides green beans and greens have pork in them, which I don't eat. So I got the fried okra and mac &ch. The fried okra was okay/good. The mac&ch. terrible. the noodles were mushy and they were in this unflavored white paste, inedible. Now I've never ordered fish at another establishment where the dinner wont come with some type of bread, slice of bread roll hushpuppy something. If you want hushpuppies it would be considered a side and you get one side with the dinner...weird but that's what they're doing. The fountain drinks tasted off.. The establishment wasn't clean and they were only open approx an hr when I came in. It's small. I didnt see any dessert on the menu. I got 2 Whiting and shrimp dinners. The food was unflavorful. However the fish and shrimp did taste fresh. The intial meeting and ordering was awkward and unwelcoming. However when I was called for my meal it was friendly and I was thanked for my purchase. I can honestly say I believe you can get better fast seafood other places. It would be bad to mention here. The location, I think, is what's keeping this place going. A friend a work suggested this place about 6 months ago. He's a seafood fanatic so i had great faith in his endorsement. Finally got around to trying it today and wish I would have tried it earlier! Ordered the Shrimp and Crab Po Boy Combo and it was just shy of PERFECT. Only thing I would have wanted different was to have the Po Boy served slightly warmer. The sauce, which was great by the way, did seem to be the main culprit in cooling down a tad too much what would have been a warm, toasty sandwich from heaven. I came about 7pm and they were busy but the wait wasn't long and the cashier was efficient, accurate, patient and pleasant. Customer mix during my visit seemed to be about 70% takeout and 30% dine in. Im an incurable bookworm and there were plenty of open tables so I ate in and lingered for a while over a good book. The whole time I was there, never heard a single customer complain about ANYTHING. Definitely on my short list of must go to spots for lunch or dinner. read more
