I moved into the Sky property on Martel over a year ago and I have had a great experience so far. Any maintenance issues are usually responded to in a timely manner and the Sky online portal makes it very easy to request any necessary help. Our building manager is very friendly and is always attentive in responding to tenant requests. She always follows up after a maintenance appointment to confirm that the issue is solved. I've enjoyed living in the building and have always felt comfortable, even while having to shelter-in-place. read more

They try to robbed you for every little penny of your deposit. I stayed at 26110 narbonne ave for a year. Manager approved the walk through and when they gave me my deposit check they charge me $400+ for touch up paint and other things. Updating once again because I just can't say enough about Sky! I really do love this company, I've read other reviews that have had bad experiences and while I had a little flub with my ancient A/C unit last summer dying on me in the height of a really bad heatwave and it taking just a bit longer than anyone would have been comfortable dealing with to get a new one put in, that's all done and my new unit is just coasting me so happily and COOL-LY through this summer. This review honestly makes up for the A/C madness last summer. My blinds were never replaced before I moved into a different unit back in 2015, and after many MANY years of a LOT of sunshine (which makes kitty LOVES), the blinds finally saw their final stretch of life over the last month or so. While cleaning one day I also had my bedroom window screen (also something that never seated properly and was kind of worn down when I moved into this unit too) popped out while I was cleaning and fell to its demise. I contacted Sky requesting an update for my blinds in all three rooms and the screen in the window replaced. As of this very moment I'm happily sitting with beautiful NEW blinds in all three of my rooms (and MAN i forgot how nice it was to have GOOD working blinds) and was told the screen in my bedroom will be replaced by the weekend. Thank you SKY for getting these little "comfort", but so nice and wonderful items fixed so quickly! I left this property once and it was the biggest mistake and longest 6 months of my life waiting for a unit to open up again! Thank you Sky for being so great and having me as a tenant! read more

My family and I lived at a property that had changed to ownership and unfortunately management. I have never even more disappointed from a management company on how they treated their tenants. Let alone they rarely fixed things or maintained the building, unless we begged. Carmen Zelaya, the supervisor for the company is by far one of the most unprofessional people I have ever come across, her tone and how she talks to tenants in such a disrespectful, nasty way. They sold the apartment building, gave everyone 60 day notices to move out. I have elderly parents. I asked the on site Manager, Carey which I have the proof in emails, my parents will be out a couple days after the 60 day notice, is that okay because we didn't want to lose any of the security deposit money. He said no problem, I asked do I need to know anything because we depend on getting the full security deposits back. He never once said anything or they would take out money for those few days. He was okay with it and delayed the key return a bit himself due to his doctors appt., but they took out money for those days, wrongfully so, without telling us they would. I called and emailed Carmen many times to discuss this matter, but she wouldn't get back to me. One day, I was finally able to reach out because I kept on calling and her response was, "what? How many times are you going to call?" so, purposely she was screening my calls, who does that? You work for a "professional" management company. I informed her they didn't do the ledger right and they wrongfully deducted money from our deposit re: miscalculating our overpayment of rent as underpayment and the issue I discussed about regarding prorated days. She asked for the emails and said she would talk to Carey and get back to me. I forwarded her everything. I reached out a couple times via email and phone, as did my mother. She ignored us both. I took matters to get a mediation company involved to get a meeting set up for us to discuss this matter and she ignored their attempts. That's that, we lost money that we never were suppose to due to wrongful calculations and not being clear regarding the prorate days when I asked- Illegal! But we couldn't do anything since the sold the apartment building and no longer manage it. Truly, truly sad. Slumlord is this!!! 16 years living there, sad how they can treat their tenants. Oh there is so much more, but I will leave it at this. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from ANY property that is managed by these people. WORST experience of our lives! read more

the worst management company i've ever encountered, worst experience ever. they will rip you off. bad management, horrible on-site manager at Owenspark apartments in Canoga Park, they treat you like dirt, both management & on-site manager. "rent is due on the 1st of the month before 5pm, no grace period, penalty or eviction occurs" is just one of the ridicules rules that they have. there's no customer service. manager wants you to move out of you parking spot to a tiny little hard to park spot in the corner, so that he can park easily. when you complaint about it, he starts a yelling argument with you. they'll rob you on your deposit. i've lived there for 1 year, they charged me $600 for cleaning. by the time i moved out, 5 units did the same thing, 1 unit moved in for 3 months and decided they didn't want to be treated like this. no comfort of home staying there. save you money and time, never go with this awful management company. read more

I can't say enough about my experience with Sky Properties here at Cahuenga. The managers and maintenance staff have gone above and beyond to help me with any questions or problems I have. John and Alex who work there daily are always so very helpful, I had a bunch of groceries and they stopped to help me carry back to my apartment. One evening when someone had opened the emergency exit I called the after hours number (this was at 12:30 at night!) and the phone was answered after only 2 rings. I live in a Sky Property managed building for 3 years and would NOT recommend anyone moving into one of their properties. 1) Neighbors - Multiple calls to the police. Flights at all hours of the night and would steal my delivery packages. Management did nothing for 3 years, not even when they brought roaches into the building. 2) Maintenance - Kitchen sink has needed work since the day I moved in. They have never sent anyone to look at it. Bathroom shower head is unsealed and could be fixed in a 5-minute job, but Sky Properties can't be bothered with simple routine maintenance issues. 3) Pest - I complained about roaches for 6 months before anyone even replied to an email or phone call. Took them 2 more months to send someone out who sprayed the kitchen and nowhere else. This probably wouldn't have bothered me if they hadn't asked me to prep the entire apartment (bedroom bathroom and living areas included). Their treatment showed no results, even after weeks. I had my apartment professionally treated while I was away on holiday and came home to a roach free apartment. It's interesting what good quality pest control can do. Too bad Sky Properties doesn't care to invest in these products. 4) Parking - There are always random as cars parked against the fire wall, where it's clearly marked "no parking" and sometimes these cars park in tenant parking spots. Management send threathing letters to the building tenants very once and while but nothing really materializes. Maybe threats aren't the way of going about it. You catch more bees with honey than with vinegar. A foreign concept to Sky Properties. 5) Management - There has been a swinging door of on-site managers in the 3 years I lived here. The previous landlord left me harrassing voicemails and spread rumors to my neighbors. Thankfully he did this to a lot of tenants and was removed. The current landlord likes to intimidate from a distance. He is nice in person but calls to yell at you then hangs up. He left a nasty note on my door once. Most recently he allowed a maintenance work to call me a BITCH twice and order me to shut up. While I never expected the on-site management to stick up for me, he should have reminded his employee of a certain level of professionalism and customer service that needs to be maintained. He did no such thing, he actually precluded his actions by saying "she's moving out". Guess it is okay to call a woman out of her name and be down right disrespectful to her if she is no longer a steady mothly paycheck. 6) Communication - There simply is none. They never return phone calls or reply to emails or open the door (during normal business hours) on the first attempt. You have to hound them for months for someone to acknowledge you. They deactivated my tenant portal once and didn't care until the first of the month when rent was due. 7) Security Deposit - Living here for three years I've come to know various tenants who ultimately moved out. No matter the circumstances they never saw their deposit again. Honestly with as rude and unprofessional as Sky Properties is, I'm not surprised. I have been renting in Los Angeles area for over 15 years and have never seen this level of unprofessional management. Sky Properties is a joke. I hope this review helps you in deciding NOT to live in a Sky Properties managed building. read more

WORST EVER! STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!!!! This is by far the worst property management company in the country! I have lived in numerous places and never had any of the issues we have had with this company. They took over the complex we were living in, never fixed any of the issues, office staff is incredibly unprofessional. They will yell, scream and hang up on you. They show no respect for anyone, not even their own staff. All they care is that they get their money from you, but don't expect them to do anything in return for the money. If you have a problem, good luck getting it fixed, even with health code violations/citations, building code violations, they still won't fix the problem, they will attempt to cover it up. And to top it off they won't return any of your deposit or even an itemized statement of reasons they might withhold it. You can call them and they will pass you along to all sorts of people who know nothing about your deposit or who you are. Then finally you keep track of names and catch them, and they make up all sorts of stories about your unit, but still nothing written about the deposit. State law gives 21 days after you vacate for them to return your deposit or to send the itemized statement, when you tell them that somehow you are disconnected and never get another answer on the other line until days later. Finally one will claim they will return it, 2 weeks later nothing... THEIFS, ABUSIVE STAFF and an ABSOLUTELY ALL AROUND HORRIBLE company, stay far far away!!! read more

We had to keep calling 5-10 times to get any information. The last time we called having a questions about out apartment we got from our agent : "! My wife and I lived for one and a half years in a 2 bedroom apartment in SIlverlake managed by Sky Properties. The management that was in place at the time was a bit lacking in care for the property. Fortunately after several months there were new managers, Carmen and John, who took pride in keeping up the building and the grounds. They installed a working entry call system, new landscaping, cleaned up the laundry room and provided new pool deck furniture. They were very pleasant to deal with when we needed a repair or had an issue that required their involvement. I would unhesitatingly recommend Carmen and John as property managers and I think anyone living in their building will appreciate their effort and responsiveness. read more

My property is a 4 unit condominium in Hollywood, built in the 30s and renovated before I moved in. Morris the property manager is professional, trustworthy and has a great attention to detail. This review is for 865 Sanborn Ave. My recommendation would be to avoid living here. Pros: - In-unit washer/dryer, appliances work well - Big windows - Online portal works - Walking distance to sunset - Lease became month to month after a year without a ridiculous increase - Top level has decent views Cons: - Security: Recurring theft in garage and of packages. Mail was stolen at one point (yes from inside the mailboxes, a federal crime). Walls are low and do not keep thieves out of garage. Building managers prefer to keep quiet about security issues, and do not report them to the tenants of the community. I know this because I have had things stolen, including a bicycle. At one point I saw a police officer in the garage taking statements from a neighbor about stuff stolen out of her car. I also see torn up boxes by the entrances every couple months, and have had some of my packages stolen. No communication or reminders to the community of the overall issue. SKY does not really care about security or they would have put up better walls. At one point, they addressed the mailbox theft issue by installing a bar over the mailboxes. This took months, so the response is generally slow and inadequate. - Noise: Windows are thick, but walls are thin. I heard my neighbor's music almost daily. On weekends, they frequently had parties until 1AM. The walls are so thin you can make out what people are saying if they are being loud. A new set of neighbors moved in with small children who are always throwing tantrums. You can hear them walking and stomping around the apartment and on the stairs. They even have a drumset they play on for you to enjoy. I have pity for the sorry souls that may have moved in before I had time to post this review. The mid level floors are pretty hollow so sound reverberates between units. Behind the complex is a rental space for late dinner parties and gatherings, so that can be a problem on weekend nights. In front of the complex is another apt building (not from SKY) with crying babies and dogs that are locked inside and barking during the day. There's about a 15' gap between the buildings. So those big windows look at a brick wall on one side. - Layout: So the multiple floors look really cool when you first visit. But it gets tedious to go up and down those stairs all the time. Since it's basically one room per floor, pretty much any chores or any time you forgot something requires a trip on the stairs. Sounds minor, but after a few months it's pretty tedious. There aren't any bathrooms on the ground floor. The stairs take up a lot of space in the living room. I'm way happier in a single floor layout. - Storage: there is basically none. Under the stairs became my storage area, which is unsightly since the stairs are open on the bottom. - Water pressure: It's low. Weak showers every morning. It also takes about 2 minutes for the shower to heat up. - Garage: Water pools in the garage when it rains. Garage is tight but it's workable. Half of the spots are tandem. If you have a spot on the outer edge of the garage, water from the steam outlets is going to drip on your car and make it dirty every day. - HVAC system works, but is pretty uneven. Upper floors may be too warm while the living/kitchen area is too cold. I think this is because there is a single thermostat for the entire place. - Security deposit: It took longer than 21 days to be returned, which is against the law. It did eventually get to me days after the deadline, and I got my full deposit back, less a $200 cleaning fee. They also try to get you to sign away your rights to an itemized list of deductions, which feels scammy to me. I altered the document before signing it so as to require they provide the itemized list. In conclusion, this place has serious issues (security and noise) that will require major construction to resolve. They also didn't really care when theft or security issues occurred. I think whoever designed and built this place doesn't know what they're doing. For the price, I would expect much better. Avoid living here if you can. read more

I like the management. They are very helpful. It is my first experience in apartment in California. They made the process very easy. I was out of town when contract was due and they helped me to get it done. Few issued in apartment when I moved, but Maria and Mike took care of it right away. I have to agree place is little old compare to other place, but people are very friendly. I talked to few other tenants and they gave me very nice response. Invited my friends and they like the place as well. Location is great, right next to highway 101 and Ventura blvd . For the price I pay I cannot ask more than this. I like my new home. I'm surprised to see any negative reviews of Sky Properties! My partner and I have lived in a small building of theirs in the Larchmont/Koreatown area for over a year and have had no problems with them as a company. In fact, they've been so much easier and more pleasant to work with than other management companies we've dealt with - and there's been quite a few. The initial application/rental process was a breeze, they resolve every maintenance request promptly, the building is kept clean and nice, and they have a super convenient online system for rent payment. The on-site manager is approachable and considerate, as well as competent and efficient in handling any issue, including tricky neighbor dynamics. I recently decided I needed a change of scenery, so I moved from North Hollywood to Tarzana. When I was moving into 18414 Collins, I was shown nothing but helpfulness from the manager there Morris Caraway. I cant thank that guy enough for how great he was with fixing a couple very minor problems there were inside the unit and for being so easy to talk to if I need anything. His door is always open for tenants, (literally) and he is always willing to handle any problems he can right away and at most you may have to wait 1 day to get the job completed. He keeps a clean building, and nothing seems to be falling apart or run down. read more

Home is the place where your heart is. My heart definetely belongs to my cozy apt in 7026 Sepulveda residential building. Its nice, clean and friendly. The managers of the building are super-helpful, super-nice and super-caring. Its just so important to be able to address to these people with any questions and concerns 24/7 and to always meet understanding and assistance. I feel here safe and really at home. When I was looking for a place to rent, I paid attention not only on the apts themselves but also on the people, managing the apts and very often I just didnt feel positive vibes from them, unlike here. My husband and I live in the Cahuenga Place property and absolutely love it. Great and friendly staff - and responsive- that really cares about getting to know you. Adrienne, Carmen, John, Andrew, Alex have all been so great and friendly. Dog friendly and very accommodating - and very safe with someone always at the desk at night. We love the convenience of having parking, washer dryer, cable and Internet included -- and LA fitness membership! My friends can't believe how much I get for the price (along with location). I am a new tenant at 18414 Collins St. in Tarzana, and so far I have nothing but good things to say about Sky Properties. A big part of that is because of the building manager Morris Caraway. When I was first moving in, I noticed a couple outlets that were not working and a burnt out light. I let Morris know and not even 5 minutes later, the problems were fixed. Morris is a very easy person to approach and ask for anything I may need. He keeps a very clean building and has recently made the side court yard look fantastic with a little knew grass. My wife and I moved to Redondo earlier in 2016. We wanted to feel out the area for a future house purchase and opted for Villa Capistrano, located in North Redondo on the border of Manhattan Beach. Location wise, you can't beat it, we have a Trader Joes 2 blocks away, Ralphs, Vons and Bristol Farms within less than a mile and a host of amazing restaurants, fitness centers and other amenities within earshot. The best part is, we are less than 2 miles from the sandy beaches of Manhattan Beach and if you like surfing, the Southbay is packed with spots of all kinds. We genuinely love the area and also complex. It's quiet, friendly, green and very clean. The apartments themselves are all updated (as far as I know :) and they take really good care of the tenants, especially Mary who really goes the extra mile for the community here. If you are looking for a great apartment in a great location without breaking the bank, I recommend checking out Villa Capistrano, it's a nice vibe. read more
