I had the halibut fish and it was amazing. The batter had a perfect crunch and it was not soggy. The house salad had a mix of greens, cherry tomatoes and thin sliced carrots. The fish tasted fresh. It was an excellent meal. Also had the Crab Cakes. They were tasty. We brought home a burger and fries. The burger was just slightly over cooked. We asked for medium but it was still a good burger. Their fries are crisp and have a crunch. We sat at the outdoor canopy patio. They have gas heaters out there. We eat at Skylarks at least once a month. read more

Delicious, decadent banana bread French Toast made in house is not to be missed if you have a sweet tooth. The pillow pyramid of moist bread was served with a walnut maple syrup drizzled on top. I'll gladly ride this sugar high all day. Come hungry or ready to share with a partner because these portions will fill you up and then some. The cafe decor is somewhat Victorian. The dark green walls covered with antique mirrors and art gives the cafe an elevated look. The plush arm chairs mixed in with the wooden dining tables makes it cozy. My seat was wedged between the table in front and an armchair behind it. With a wall at my side too, I felt quite crowded. I wished I had had a bit more space to push my chair away from the table and more space between the table and the wall so I could move my arms more freely. They don't do reservations, but they will gladly setup your table if you call them 30 minutes before arriving. Our server was cheerful and made regular rounds to our table to top off drinks and check on us. Prices are typical (high) for a locally owned restaurant in Fairhaven, but the food quality, presentation, taste, and portions make it a worthwhile indulgence once in awhile. I would love to come back and try their various egg bennies, but that means rolling out of bed early. Breakfast is only served until 11am. read more

Perhaps the most spectacularly bad dining experience of my life. Seated outdoors, the kitchen was blasting bad heavy metal (that's not the oxymoron you might think), the soup was salted like a codfish destined for an 18th century whaler, and server was incensed when I told her she'd messed up my drink order. We both had the Reuben Sandwiches. My friend is from the east coast and she knows her Reuben Sandwiches. Said that it was the best she had ever had. I have had Reuben Sandwiches at Katz's deli (Harry met Sally) and Carnegie deli, both in New York. They can't compare to SKYLARKS. I have eaten there many times previously and have always been delighted with the delicious food and excellent service. I have tried many things on their menu and there is nothing that I would not recommend. You have to try them!! If you know them, go back. When they get things right, the food is decent and not excessively priced. I was with a group of about 16 people and a quarter of us were served the wrong items. Amazingly delicious food. Excellent service, and their outdoor seating kept us warm and dry when it was basically a monsoon outside the tent. We had the pesto alfredo with chicken and the skylark benedict. Their rosemary sourdough bread is a game changer and it was an excellent addition to the pesto. My sister and I rolled up here on a sleepy Tuesday night. We finished up a long day playing the GPS based scavenger hunt game called Geocaching. Needless to say we were hungry AF. No. We were hangry! The hostess with the mostest promptly sat us away from a family reunion (thank God) We decided on drinks, appetizer and entrees right away. Service, service, servie. Came in for breakfast on a Sunday, yesterday. Only the outside seating was occupied, so only 10 tables. Everyone was ordering breakfast but the food took a good 30 minutes or more to arrive. Not sure what was going on. i ordered an omelet and wife ordered an egg sandwich. A cute little place for brunch, my mom and i really enjoyed both the atmosphere, food and great prices. Since it was a weekday, there was a page of weekday specials including the $4.99 small size french toast which was actually MUCH bigger than we thought. It was light and fluffy, delicious but not too heavy since syrup was poured at our own discretion. Also ordered the Salusito benedict which came with turkey breast on an english muffin topped with very perfectly done soft-medium poached eggs, drenched in hollandaise (a little too much) with a few slices of avocado. This was HUGE and delicious again without being overly heavy. It also came with an extremely large portion of hash browns that were panfried and great with ketchup. When the food truck did not show up at Stone's Throw brewery on a First Friday concert night, I decided to order take out from Skylark's. My (well named) Just 4 the Halibut wrap was ready promptly on a busy Friday night. I was greeted quickly upon entering, and the friendly bartender finished the drink he was making and brought my order out. The fish was very tasty, and the amendments, especially the wasabi aioli, made for a satisfying and flavorful meal. It came with a generous portion of fries that I could share with some newly-met folks. We agreed that my choice was a lot better than their choice of getting to-go food from Haggens! Skylark's is one of those hidden places you need to track down to find, and well worth it when you do. When you enter the door you feel like you've crossed into a nostalgic restaurant of a combination of Kennedy's library decor and a gentlemen's polo club from the 70's. Not modern and yet, very elegant. I wanted their signature burger Bistro Burger. Ordered it medium/rare. Service was pretty fast and got it back in under 10 minutes. The burger came opened faced and you can see the decent appearance. Put it together and took a bite. It was juicy but cooked medium/well. It had a lot of flavor, I just prefer the flavor of a burger on the pink side over well done. You really can't bean the ambiance here. The prices are really good for the area, being in Fairhaven. This would be the place you would bring your spouse or special person to have a nice evening. read more

Skylarks is a beautiful location in a beautiful part of Fairhaven. My father had breakfast there many times so when we went for dinner, our hopes were very high. We made reservations and we were seated up near the bar. Our waiter was the bartender, so I understand they're more accustomed to tending bar than waiting on people, but the service was still subpar. We ordered at about 6:35 and had to wait 25 minutes for our appetizers to come out. Brussel Sprouts and Spinach and artichoke dip. The Brussel sprouts were very good and the dip was pretty ok. We had to wave down the server for refills when we needed them, but it wasn't too bad. Our food came not long afterwards and it wasn't great. My mother had the Rueben and she loved it. My father had the cioppino and he said it was okay. It wasn't spiced to his taste, but that's all he had to say. I had the pot roast which comes with julienned vegetables and mashed potatoes. The pot roast itself was good, albeit room temperature. There was maybe 5 slices of carrot for my vegetables and the mashed potatoes were cold, crusty, dry, and lumpy. You could tell it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while. I understand that the restaurant industry is hectic and premaking meals is necessary to process the high volume of customers, but it turned me off of the food. If there had been an effort to reheat them, it would go a long way to making the dish more enjoyable. We then ordered creme brulee for desert and it was lovely. I wish the dish wasn't quite so shallow because the heat from the broiler they used to caramelize the sugar warms up the custard all the way down the dish. A deeper custard could maybe offset that and give a more complex experience. Cool, creamy custard to go along with the warm, caramelized sugar. Finally, when the check came, the server completely forgot to add the creme brulee to the bill and we had to remind them. It just goes to show that their focus is elsewhere, likely serving the downstairs patrons moreso than the ones seated near the bar. I likely will try this place for breakfast at some point, but not for dinner. I hear the breakfast is very good. read more

I've always liked this place for a breakfast and lunch spot but the dinner is awful. Me and my parents and grandmother came for dinner and we each ordered the pot roast, risotto, stroganoff and fish and chips. The only good meal was the pot roast. Risotto had two veggies and it had no taste, stroganoff tasted sour and like it was old, and the fish sucked. No water refills the whole night and we ended up eating bread and not finishing our meals. Dinner is way too over priced for poor food and poor service. Breakfast and lunch is fantastic, but go somewhere else for dinner. read more

Post pandemic Skylark is not as good as the pre-pandemic version. Fist, don't accept seating upstairs. One waitress and service is therefore, understandably, slow. Second, if you like your veggies sautéed before they're added to the veggie omelet, don't order the veggie omelet. I like raw onions, peppers, and tomatoes in my salad, but not in my omelet. Third, better to offer a customer a coffee refill while he or she is still eating. To belatedly offer when you're finished eating and they're presenting the bill is too late. I've eaten at Skylarks probably 5 or 6 times in the past 30 days, and they only got it right on half of those visits. I probably won't be returning to a restaurant when they get it right only half of the time. read more

This place was absolutely phenomenal! My husband and I are traveling around the Washington coast and stumbled onto the Skylarks and decided to give it a shot. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by a very friendly staff. The atmosphere, was quaint and beautifully decorated. My husband and I were quickly seated at a table of our choosing. Our waitress, Alisa, was a complete sweetheart and very welcoming. After browsing the menu and hearing the soup choices, my husband and I decided to try the Lumberjack sandwich and the clam chowder. During the meal, Alisa offered me a sample of the Jalapeno Cheese Soup. It was absolutely delicious!! It was so good that my husband and I decided to take a quart home with us! Our sandwich was also very filling and my husband and I had to take half of the sandwich home. I wish we were staying in the area because we would definitely go back. This was the first time I'd been to this restaurant. It looked promising. The food was ok, however; the service was poor. After placing our ordered we waited for over 30 minutes before I asked how much longer it would be. The answer was that it was almost ready and then heard a story about having only 1 cook. It took another 10 minutes to get our food. Over 40 minutes to get our food is excessive. The only other time we saw our waitress was when she brought the check. With average food that took way to long and the poor service, I doubt if I'll go there again. read more

We had dinner here on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon. We decided to give it a try even though it was not busy. Other restaurants nearby were crowded (that should have been a clue). The decor is nice and cozy. There is a fireplace. We were seated promptly. They brought us water. One of the glasses was dirty. Our waitress was the bartender as well. We ordered the clams and mussels as an appetizer. We continue to look through the menu then we ordered our dinners. And now, we wait. And we wait some more. By now, there is a couple at a table by the fireplace, a couple at the bar, and us. Finally, a lady from the kitchen brought us the clams and mussels appetizer. The top shells were lukewarm, but the broth was warm. The clams tasted good, but the mussels were awful. The broth had the same awful flavor of the mussels. Two minutes into eating our appetizer, our waitress brings out all the entrees. When asked if this is the norm, she replied that she put our orders in right when we made them. I think she forgot to bring the appetizer sooner because she was chatting with the couple at the bar. The seven time champion clam chowder was ok, nothing to rave about. All dishes came with sourdough bread. The bread was the best thing at this place. The cioppino was mediocre with disgusting mussels. The seafood linguine with yucky mussels got our relative sick the next day. We mentioned to our waitress about the taste of the mussels and she assured us that no one has "ever" gotten sick from eating their shellfish. She offered to take the appetizer off the bill. We said no because we already ate it. She offered a discount and we said that it was not about the money, but it is feedback to their chef. We paid the bill and the final receipt showed that our waitress gave us a $1.00 (one dollar) discount. We will not be back. read more

Unfortunately, it seems Skylarks has just gone downhill. In the past, I have enjoyed the food, but the service was always disappointing. However, we ordered take out last week and we are still talking about how absolutely terrible it was. We ordered a kids mac and cheese and 2 mac and cheese with prawn dinners (over $60). The portions were minimal, there was NOTHING with it, and it was absolutely gross. No flavor. Some prawns had shells on and some didn't. We all threw out our dinners after a few tries and ate leftovers. We will not be going back. read more

Our called in reservation down the street had an error - it was an hour later than discussed - so I jumped on OT to explore options. Skylarks had openings outside immediately, and not wanting to drive over and not have an outside table, I booked. This was the voice mail I received getting into the car. Hi Robert, this is Lauren from skylex. You did make a reservation ten minutes before your arrival date. And we actually don't do that here. It is a two-hour wait right now. So I will cancel your reservation. I'm sorry about that bike. Have no problem with restaurants blocking same day or next N hour bookings on OT, but Skylarks had open reservations all afternoon for inside and out and appeared to have no ability to service them for hours. I shouldn't be criticized via voice mail for doing what I was expected to do - book the accommodation available and desired.
