Slanted Door had the loveliest happy hour in Napa until 5pm and the bar service was spectacular! The slanted door spring rolls was an explosion of flavor including fresh mint.

We were there on a sunday afternoon for its happy hour. Happy hour is for sure great value, each of the appetizers were around $10-12 and they were yummy. There were plenty of seats available at the bar. We enjoyed the imperial rolls, wings, yellowtail tartare, and dumplings. Price is a bit high for the non happy hour items, thus the 4 stars...Will come again for happy hour.

Shaking beef, chicken clay pot, ribs, daikon rice cakes (Everything was about half eaten)

We sat at the bar and the service was amazing. Mycah (I'm pretty sure I messed up that spelling) was great. Very attentive and had great recommendations. The inside is beautiful and they have inside and outside seating. We ordered the yellow tail, daikon rice cakes, shaking beef, chicken clay pot, papaya salad, and bbq pork spare ribs. Everything tasted great!

We decided to check out this fine dining establishment in Napa for dinner. The decor is modern and minimalistic. We sat out in the patio, which had a huge tree in the middle. It was a hot day in June, so we ordered iced lychee black tea with chrysanthemum. It was very refreshing! We shared the yellowtail sashimi, banh nam, cellophane noodles, and shaking beef. Everything was flavorful and delicous! I enjoyed it all and services was prompt and friendly. Worth a stop if you want to try Vietnamese food in a pretty atmosphere.

This restaurant focuses on a minimalist approach to decor and a maximum approach on flavor. Located in the Napa area, it's just far enough outside the immediate downtown that much of the clientele are local regulars rather than tourists. There's limited parking in the area, but it can be tight. We had a reservation for a late afternoon and the restaurant was getting pretty busy. I would definitely recommend reservations during peak times dinner hours. We were pleasantly greeted and had an opportunity to walk through a very cool bar area. The restaurants surrounds a courtyard, which would be lovely in warmer weather. Just beyond the courtyard you can see from just about every area of the restaurant right into the kitchen, which is always fun. Without any surprise, there's an extensive wine list available as well as a fantastic list of mixed drinks and mocktails. Every dish was amazingly flavorful with attention to every detail. As visually beautiful as all the dishes tasted. Everything was made with quality ingredients and flawlessly executed. I'm not sure I have enough adjectives to describe how wonderful a dining experience this can be. Highly recommend that you find your way to this tucked away gem.

Special Occassion Treat ! Fresh food made to order on the spot ! Would go every weekend if prices were lower:) We enjoyed these: - steamed dim sum basket (pricey but made to order) will feed 2 as an appetizer with 6 pieces ($22 is steeply priced) - sticky tea leaf rice: rendition of the dim sum version: sliced into large sushi shaped slices stuffed with preserved egg and minced meat served on tea leaf and seared crisp on the edges ($14 ) - Chicken Salad: crisp and fresh serves 2 at $18 -loved - Crab Glass Noodles ($38) Fresh and so delicious. ..Steeply priced for a noodle dish ... lacks presentation and matching ingredients to justify pricing. This dish is not a main entree dish despite labeling. It is a side dish. Overall the food- delicious, fresh, made to order with top ingredients.. no twice used oils no over used ingredients for a balanced pallete . Fresh and consistent! Culinary history Complaints would be portion size and cost. But it is "Slanted Door" so you are paying for the name and its legacy too. I will continue to visit on special occassions or "treat myself or others" days!

Had to come on the weekend brunch to try the pho. I had chicken and my husband beef. We started with the chicken salad - ate every bit of the salad. Great flavor and texture. Chicken pho was okay. Wish I had gotten the beef - broth was richer. Restaurant was relaxing and well decorated. Staff was very attentive.

Only two places serve Phở in the entire Napa Valley (that I could find). Wild. Where do people nurse their hangovers the day after romancing the bottle?! Option #1: The only Viet resto in Napa from the pioneer of Modern Viet Cuisine. Option #2: A "global" resto that also serves buffalo wings, burgers, pasta, and pizza. Leave the chicken tender crowd at home because there's only one choice: Option #1 - Slanted Door. Famed Charles Phan's legacy lives on with Slanted Door and Chuck's Takeaway (bánh mì). While waiting for their original location to re-open on Valencia, we decided to pay a visit to their Napa location. Opening in November 2023, Slanted Door is the first Viet resto in Napa. Open for indoor dining and courtyard dining. Dog-friendly in the courtyard with reservations. There were four other dogs when we were there and you would have never known. They never made a peep! M E N U Modern Viet Cuisine with a separate weekend brunch, dinner, and happy hour menu. HH is available every day from 3-4 pm at the bar only. Phở is only served during weekend brunch. Full bar. 20% service charge added to all bills (additional tip is optional). F O O D * Chả Giò: Imperial rolls w/ wild gulf shrimp, pork, vermicelli, peanuts (2 pc-$18): https://tinyurl.com/jr2c5cvy Pretty solid, the imperial rolls were hot and crunchy with a savory pork and shrimp filling. You can see/taste the small morsels of shrimp. The rice wrapper was a bit hard tho. Served with vermicelli, lettuce, and herbs for DIY wraps. The accompanying nước chấm was flavorful and well-balanced - salty, tangy, sweet and mildly spicy with some funk. * Bún Thịt Nướng Chả Giò Chay: Lemongrass Pork w/ veggie imperial roll, vermicelli, fixings (weekend brunch only-$24): https://tinyurl.com/mspud9sa Most expensive bún I've had but it was top-tier quality. The tender lemongrass pork was freshly grilled and flavorful with a nice smoky char. Served with a hot and crunchy imperial roll and over a bed of springy vermicelli, shredded lettuce, crisp bean sprouts and herbs. * Phở Bò: Brisket, tongue, tendon, grass fed beef bone broth, nước béo, fixings (weekend brunch only-$20): https://tinyurl.com/269rnj3e NGL, I had low expectations but this was surprisingly solid. The broth was deeply comforting with an intense beefy flavor. Clear and clean, the broth is more northern style since it's not sweet and spiced. Generous portion of meltingly tender beef brisket, tongue, and tendons. Fresh noodles were slippery and slightly chewy. Served with raw bean sprouts, basil, jalapeno, lime, sriracha, and hoisin. Requested a side of nước béo (fatty broth w/ green onions) for extra richness. * Crispy Potatoes w/ rau răm chimichurri (weekend brunch only-$8): https://tinyurl.com/488fxaj8 A Viet twist on home fries, the potatoes were crispy soft with a punchy chimichurri made with Viet coriander and fish sauce. * Egg Sandwich: Scrambled Chino Valley Eggs w/ chives, milk bread, tomato sambal (weekend brunch only-$16): https://tinyurl.com/ezcfcwjr Worst egg sandwich ever...for the price. The scrambled eggs were dry and incredibly salty. I wanted to send it back but someone didn't and ate it. The table next to us ordered the same thing and sent it back. I appreciate that they offer a "brunchy" item on the weekends but this isn't it. S E R V I C E Cordial but too serious. Prompt food service with items coursed out. A M B I A N C E Hot date night vibes - stylish and sophisticated with the whimsical courtyard as the heart of space with an open view of chefs cooking behind the glass. P A R K I N G Plentiful parking in their private lot. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Slanted Door and thought the legit Viet flavors were there. Yes, it can be pricey but they source high-quality ingredients from local purveyors and the craftsmanship was on-point (except for that egg sandwich). Def a must visit in Napa if you're craving Viet (or any AZN) comfort food.

I had previous eaten at the Ferry building outpost and was excited to see that they have a location in Napa and it was a fabulous experience from start to finish! We had an amazing server/ we told her what we generally interested in, including the fact that I don't eat meat but everyone else does and she chose the dishes, the pace and the order which made for an absolutely fabulous experience!! We enjoyed the patio and the heat lamps as it was super chilly even on June and a leisurely pace with exceptional service. So many great dishes / Yellowtail with the crispy shallots were amazing, loved the spring rolls and particularly loved the Imperial rolls which were the perfect bite and the mint was the perfect finish and the surprise dish that was just delicious was the daikon rice cakes ! Each dish was fabulous and nothing wad too heavy / left feeling we had Josh eaten the perfect amount! This place was fantastic from start to finish !!

It's been a long while since dining at the Ferry Building and our recent meal here in Napa was as good as I remembered in SF, a real wow. EVERYTHING was amazing, from the patio/courtyard dining to the awesome food: --perfect mai tai to begin, not too sweet --crispy vegetarian imperial rolls, tasty combination wrapped in a lettuce leaf and dipped in the sauce. --chicken claypot, the ginger caramel sauce blew me away, would love to know how to make this --shaking beef, perfect, just as I remembered --bok choy with shitake mushrooms --white corn with chickpea miso butter and shishito peppers, almost didn't order this as we thought we had enough, but couldn't stop eating it. Another home run. Gratuity included, and service was efficient and friendly.

We had our dog with us and wanted to find a spot that was dog friendly, and Slanted Door didn't disappoint in so many ways. The service was top notch, the food was exceptional, the patio seating was spacious and relaxed and they even brought out a bowl of water for our pooch! We will definitely return the next time we're back in town!

Aloha, needed hangover soup. Googled pho or ramen and voila SD came up as open, yes! Was so excited to have a hot bowl of soup and noodles. Service and ambiance very nice. Shucks the pho flavor lacked 5 spice. Oh well. Got over my hangover.. enjoy!

Elevated dining at its finest. Modern building, great art, indoor and "outdoor" seating, lively atmosphere though it can get a bit loud. The food was exceptional as was the service. The cost of admission reflected this, which I was okay with. It is a great place to splurge every once in a while.

For me, a great bowl of phở is about the relationship between the broth and its ingredients. While the broth has potential, the chicken is equally important--it should be tender, moist, and freshly prepared, complementing the depth and fragrance of the broth rather than becoming an afterthought. Unfortunately, the chicken here fell somewhat short. The texture lacked the tenderness and juiciness I was hoping for, which ultimately diminished an otherwise promising bowl. There is a good foundation here, and I would love to see the same attention given to the chicken as to the broth. A more carefully prepared, higher-quality cut of meat could make a meaningful difference and elevate the bowl considerably. In short: the broth has potential. Now, upgrade the chicken game.
